Mechanics is a delicate balance of fine tuning, and hitting a wheel hub assembly like you want it dead. The trick is knowing when to tap, and knowing when to wack
You still have to take the axel off to take it off it comes off only from the top … that’s not enough space to get it out even if you do manage to do that how will you put the new one on and hammer it back on ?
If it’s got a nylon lock nut( one of the nuts you can see plastic in the threads) torch the shit out of the bolt till you see the plastic ooze out of the nut then unscrew the nut. You won’t have to counterhold the ball joint.
Try Rockauto.com they should be cheaper on that website. I use it all the time instead of auto zone or oreilys. Its the same parts but they are cheaper because they send them straight to you instead of autozone being the middle man. Make sure you buy parts from a good brand though because they have different price options and the cheaper stuff usually isnt as good. As long as you stick to name brands like Moog or something similar you should be good
Ball joints usually go bad from wear and tear. Sometimes it can be dirt or grime messing it up over time. Ball joints are one of those parts that need to be replaced over time so maybe its just old
Ok i see what you mean, yea the new one has to be pressed in with a tool. You can rent it from the auto parts store and once you return it they give you your money back
Yes but they tend to ruin the boot of the ball joint. Sometimes the ball joint doesnt need to be replaced but it needs to be moved to get to other things
bruh i was struggling with this so much i’m gonna try and let you know if this works man thanks
Yessir let me know
@@RICHY6 lol he didn't let you know.
I’ll let u kno
Don't worry man I'll let you know
@@HighMileageOffroad 😂
A good tip just to save a trip to find another castle nut. Flip it upside down before you begin swinging and you can protect the prongs as well.
You can get a s hook wrap it around the control arm bar and go through the s hook with a pry bar and pull down
If your replacing the ball joint no need to protect the threads.
Exactly 😂
Perfect! And you even used a jack stand.
Lifting the rotor 👍 . Very good idea, especially if you're not using a lift.
With lift you just bring it down on a jack stand
use two hammers . one hold againt balljoint . hit hammer with another hamer . never miss or hit tread 👍💪
You can break a hammer, and shrapnel will fly. Please do not hit two hammers together!
Money!
Boom!
I like how u also added the reason why u left castle nut as well
I got a Honda too
Be good dude
🤝
Word of advice: use a brass hammer for beating on suspension components
A sledge is fine. Whatever gets the job done it’s not a space ship.
@Bryce Lund a sledgehammer bangs up suspension parts, Little Buddy. Brass is softer and still delivers a hard hit.
@@jonnysanchez3833 Try telling that to any master mechanic and he will laugh at you. Whatever gets the job done.
Great video!
Great vid
Thank you
lol i wished this worked was swinging at it with my friend for 2 hrs
Cool! Thank you!

Very well said💯
That’s what she said
Can you do a video on how to remove the track arm
You still have to take the axel off to take it off it comes off only from the top … that’s not enough space to get it out even if you do manage to do that how will you put the new one on and hammer it back on ?
And then to pop it out of the knuckle just get a ton of pb blaster and hammer it from the bottom
If it’s got a nylon lock nut( one of the nuts you can see plastic in the threads) torch the shit out of the bolt till you see the plastic ooze out of the nut then unscrew the nut. You won’t have to counterhold the ball joint.
If only it was that easy
It is haha try it
My balljoint design is "upside down" compared to this. Castlenut cant be unscrewed all the way withouthitting the abs ring....
Guess what I’m doing this weekend
So dealer said on my repair sheet for 2014 honda accord ( both front lower ball joint boot splits ) so what acutal part do i need
You’ll need 2 new ball joints theres no way to really replace the boots on them
@@RICHY6 but the ball joints do come with boots correct?
@ygbodybuilder3023 thats correct it comes all as one unit
@@RICHY6 thanks man just got the parts, dam the expensive 279 for two

People in the rust belt don't get it this easy. First, it is very hard to get a good swing at the control arm with the car on the floor.
Lucky been fighting mine for a day.
That’s how it goes sometimes
I have a 2015 Honda Accord LX and I'm just wondering what can make the front right passenger side ball joint go bad
Ball joints usually go bad from wear and tear. Sometimes it can be dirt or grime messing it up over time. Ball joints are one of those parts that need to be replaced over time so maybe its just old
That’s cute now try it on a northern car
Where the hell are your jack stands or 2nd floor jack? He has never seen Faces of Death car accidents while repairing.
Never forget watching the guy in the junk yard getting his foot almost removed from his ankle. Till this day since 1984 , I stear clear!!
U saved my Ass in gawd
nice
Yes sirrrrrr🎉
😂I wish. Congratulations to anyone that separates these with ease
Doesnt matter if you mess up the threads if youre changing it
Bro i swear every ball joint ive ever touched never comes loose with a hammer lmao
Next time put to screwdrivers into the rotor inside the caliper to prevent it from potentially spinning the jack out.
Lol the jack is only applied road force to the suspension it’s not lifting the car kinda unnecessary
@@the_first_resort940 did you mean applying?
Hit it with a small propane torch for 30 seconds and all it takes is a tiny whack.
Did it this way, smacked it with a hammer and BOOM, it's out
good luck in the north east trying that
my dude, how did you put the ball joint back into the control arm, please reply im stuck Lol
Im not exactly sure what you mean haha, you should just be able to guide it back in place
@@RICHY6 yo thanks for replying my dude, like did you have to press it in with any tool or does it go in the control arm with the nut?
Ok i see what you mean, yea the new one has to be pressed in with a tool. You can rent it from the auto parts store and once you return it they give you your money back
Once you have the new ball joint in the knuckle you can just slide it into the lower control arm and tighten with the nut
@@RICHY6 bro, thank you for taking the time to reply can i tip you a few bucks or something?
so i dont have to remove the axel nut?
thats what ive been trying to avoid lol
There are proper tools for this
Guy has the jack on the rotor by just a sliver
Sometimes its a game of inches
Just have Mikey do it.
Hook with bar
I counted 3.
That was 3 swings guy, not 2
Lmfao dude playing with a loaded grenade
it pay to watch mohammad around the clock
I counted three swings
The forks are better and easier? And free at any auto parts store for loan. 🙄
No forks aren't easier. If you plan on reusing the balljoint, if you were replacing the lower control arm, the fork damages the boot of the balljoint.
Exactly👌🏽
Forks will ruin the ball joint if u plan on using it again.too freaking easy with a small sledge hammer..hit the side and pops out .
Well this was stupid. I hope there were some invisible jack stands somewhere. I've taken out dozens of ball joints and never had to do that.
3 swings *
Yes, this is how you do when you exchange car parts in Iraq
Shoutout to Iraq!! 🇮🇶🤝
Print the lettering is blocking the views so you can't see where what you're talking about
Get a pickle fork
Yes but they tend to ruin the boot of the ball joint. Sometimes the ball joint doesnt need to be replaced but it needs to be moved to get to other things
Noice dent in the aluminium control arm...
Pickle fork
