@@Ljaysauz.I had the VHS live in concert from 1982 the mirage tour I think it was in Los Angeles, and Stevie was even better, it looks like this one here is more like a short version, the long version where she goes off with her crazy dancing is totally awesome.
mark of a great band is the live performances eclipse the studio recordings. All the greats are like that. Pink Floyd, Beatles, Zeppelin, ACDC, the eagles, Queen etc. Fleetwood Mac definitely in this illustrious group and the Dance is a brilliant live set.
I was just thinking this last night. It’s that combination love/hate thing (the song is directly a product of their breakup) that made them such great songwriters.
Lindsey Buckingham is one of the greatest rock guitar players --- AND --- He is also an astonishing singer.... It only takes a word of the lyrics to recognize his him --- This FMac Dance concert is remarkable because all members are happy to be there. Everyone is straight --- No drugs, no ego --- but justifiable pride to be one of the greatest groups ever. I hope the current generation of kids hears such incredible treasures .
My dad used to pick the DVD of this concert out and play it sometimes on Friday/Saturday nights for movie night. As a child I was always amazed by the beautiful music these people created. I did not miss the joy they clearly display in this concert. Knowing now about all the drama throughout the years, it makes this concert all the more special. I grew up listening to this album and I continue to listen to it now In my adult life. It has given me strength in times of need. Gotten me through a lot. Much love
Lindsey's solo at the end of this song is truly euphoric and liberating...it was almost as if that was his way of letting go of all of his stress and frustrations..just beatiful...this song was a massive hit in the 70's ...I remember my mom playing it over and over again..it hasn't lost any of its luster
My all-time favourite version of this song. This used to be the song I'd save for the final stretch if I ever went jogging outside or indoors on a treadmill. The guitar solo at the end gives you that edge to go that little bit faster and further!
This is the first concert DVD I ever bought back in the day. It is simply timeless. When I saw "Go Your Own Way" for the first time with LB's seemingly-effortless guitar solo and Mick's bass drums just kicking me in the chest here on my (at the time) brand new home theater with a 120" projection system and my 7-channel Bose audio cranked up to 11, this performance just sent chills down my spine. I have since purchased over 50 concert films, but this one always remains in my top 5 favorites. Well done band, producers, and crew. Well done.
This is the sh*t! Easily one of the top ten rock songs of all time. I can remember exactly where I was when I heard it for the first time. It was such a relationship song that still resonates today...over 30 frickin' years later!
To me it just feels like this concert was 30+ years in the making. .. all the pain, hurt, mastering of the playing, singing heart filled playing and singing,,, all of it... just built up to this masterpiece!
The five main FM stars really up the intensity when performing live. I listened to the studio/album version a short while ago & found it lacking enthusiasm by the performers compared to this live presentation.
Amazed how long it took the audience to recognize the song! Lindsey looking at Stevie during the second verse is priceless - he knows how much she hated the shacking up lyric! His wonderful guitar playing is pure catharsis - it obviously still hurt!
WOW! I never noticed that Lindsey was pleading and crying in the guitar solo. This is a very powerful, sad song. Fukin amazing! Its a tear jerker if you can relate it to your own life.....which I can.
OMG, This live version is so fkng brilliant! I watched the gig on bbc2 last night and was blown away by how amazing they sound. What an incredible gig to have been at!!
my dog just passed the other day and for the first time since then i was able to close my eyes, nod my head to this beat, get goosebumps, and feel enlightened by the sound of rock n roll. thank you fleetwood mac xx
I am sorry for your loss. When your dog passed, my 4 cats were still alive. Now there is only one left! 😑 It's always hard to have to let a beloved pet go. But good music can put a band-aid on the wound ... 🤕
This live version is so much superior to the album version with the backing musicians who have fleshed out the vocals and freed up Buckingham to carry the lead guitar solos, because he knows a capable acoustic guitar player is going to cover what he created in the studio. Having to play both lead and rhythm parts made him so unique in the live performances, a true underappreciated virtuoso.
I didn’t get Fleetwood Mac when I was a kid getting into all the ‘70s rock that still loomed large over all the radio stations I listened to. Then this aired on MTV when I was 18 and it was like the clouds parted and the light hit me. An absolutely legendary performance.

I saw FM in Dallas few years ago. The talent of Lindsey Buckingham carries the entire group. You have to see/hear it to believe it!
LB flashes these taunting looks at Stevie as he sings...lol....these two are something else.....They made so much of their psychological conflict and creative tension....bravo....and I love mick fleetwood, he looks like the diabolical chemist cooking up a deliciously explosive brew
+Stewart Lawrence Lindsey has said he wrote this to Stevie in retaliation for her song Silver Springs. Just some more of the back and forth between two people who hurt each other, but never killed the deep feelings they had for each other. Stevie said she hated that she had t sing about shacking up when that wasn't what she wanted.
+Serena Smith Actually, the other way around. Stevie wrote Silver Springs after she heard Go Your Own Way's rough demo during the recording of Rumours. She wanted her own response to this song and was very unhappy it was left off the album due to song length restraints.
The other band members (John, Mick and Christine) all had the look of "oh shit is this going to explode" when the chorus came around for the first time. Maybe a little flashback for all of them.
Heaven only knows how many times I have watched this great video. One of the finest, liveliest gigs I have ever known. Electrifying! Oh, I love every moment of it, from beginning to end. It’s like a good, wild party. Beautifully breath-taking. Lindsey was an energetic craftsman on his guitar. His guitar solo HERE could get anyone on the edge of the seat. Extraordinarily captivating!! I wonder why he’s underrated! He’s certainly one of the best guitarists ever. Mic simply rolled on the drums and hit them real hard, bringing sensational magic into the art of drumming. John, cool and devoted, strummed his bass guitar with the familiarity of a friend. I enjoyed Christine’s handclapping and duty on the keyboard. Towards the end, Stevie danced like a beautiful, heavily pampered princess. Every one of them was busy. Oh, what a party!
Lindsey Buckingham, along with Richie Sambora is the most underrated guitarist of all-time. That is why they are two of my all time favourites! Love the Song, Love this Performance! GREAT JOB!! :)
Took my oldest daughter "Rhiannon" to the "The Dance" and one of my most emotional moments was singing back to them "Rhiannon" with my daughter. The whole "set" of The Dance was awesome. Shivers and tears that whole night. I was a member of "Nicks Fix" and have two autographed T-shirts and posters from this time period.
I loved & still love Fleetwood Mac!!! Simply put...IN MY HONEST OPINION...THE GREATEST FLEETWOOD MAC ALBUM EVER RECORDED & THE GREATEST ALBUM OF 1977!!! Mick Fleetwood & John McVie are so good together & when you add Christine, Stevie, & Lindsey...MAGIC!!!!!!!!! Fleetwood Mac was grooving in this song...you could tell by the expressions on Christine's, Stevie's, Mick's, John's & Lindsey's face... That song had them all in the moment!!!!
I attended their reunion tour after this album was released. Best concert ever, hands down, partly because they seemed so thrilled to be playing together for a live crowd, as they are here. It was a truly joyful event for them and the audience.
This is the best ever live rendition of this fantastic song. It's the only song that makes me want to be a drummer - Mick Fleetwood knocks this out of the park with a smile on his face!
There is a energy that is surging throughout each musician. If you clue in to the begining you see Lindsey walk over to micks drum kit & set the strong intro. Then, towards after the bridge, Mick goes into double time that encourages Lindseys explosive solo. I've played the drum kit to this exact track & let me say im huffin & puffin at the end!!! Well exacuted dynamics as well. Note: Micks drum sticks are made of fiber glass. What does that mean? You can't break them!!! I splinter my oak Pro mark 747s to the video sound track "The Dance " in its entirety! Great tempo!
This concert was an insane “jam session” from their hearts, and it shows!!! Enjoy it because We’ll never have another band that comes even close to their level
Yeah, they deserve a record deal. When Stevie is on stage, the whole dynamic changes. Even when not singing, she HAS to be there for a song to work, because so many in the audience are thinking, "Where's Stevie? What's Stevie doing now..." Stage presence!
Stevie even sings the "packing up, shacking up" line she hated ... i think Stevie and Lindsey were in a good space here, actually the whole band was in a good space.
I don’t know, she looked pretty pissed to me, especially given all the other death glares she gave him throughout the show. I think that was a “go fuck yourself” look.
Rumors (ha!) are that they were veeeeery close again, but in the end it turned out that Kristen was pregnant and that Silver Springs is, in case this is true, pretty much on point.
This is my favorite performance of this song. And it's almost emotional, I get goosebumps every time. I remember being so PISSED when he wasn't listed in Rolling Stone's greatest guitarists of all the time! So much emotional history in the writing and performing of this song, as we FWM fans know, and I love the way the two of them look at each other throughout. Just as astounding performance - the whole concert was, but especially this song. Mick Fleetwood was superb here as well.
I feel like this is the definitive live cut of this song. Maybe even the best cut to include the original album version. Something about LBs deeper, grittier voice resonates more for some reason. The lyrics will always be among the best ever written, but the way it’s sung here will always be good in my book.
Must have watched this concert 20+ times and it is truly one of the greatest ever. All musicians at the height of their powers and just having FUN playing together.
I could set here all day every day with my phone in my hand for the next 2 weeks and I still wouldn’t be able to put in words the intensity I feel at 3:45 when Lindsey sends the song out in style with the most face melting solo your ears have ever heard. Its like the whole band is like, "This is our song, and here is why.." Mick gives Lindsey a grin because he knows how good it actually is and that Lindsey lives for that solo. John is thumping your heart out and keeping time with Mick, just waiting for Lindsey to make his way to his side of the stage, as always for a quick 1 on 1 jam before making his way to Christine and Stevie. Confidently I can say this is the song that defines this band whole heartedly and I could not physically imagine being on the front row of Warner Bros Studio to witness such a performance. These guys have my heart
None of these folks were kids when they performed this concert but what joy they brought with their musical gifts and how they could rock. Kind of makes this old Boomer proud!
And, watch this one with "Silver Springs" and you get a sense of the raw emotion and power of the relationship. Call and response. And, This song was the A-side to the B-side of Silver Spring when they were released on 45. Amazing.
I'm hooked on watching this. It just blows me away seeing the great Lindsey Buckingham play that guitar like that. I haven't as of yet seen a better performance of this all time great song.
it,s still amazing when you listen a longer time not"the dance"live concert, you get always the same feeling-cold,warm and goosepumps, all at the same time-)greatings to all FM fans!!!!
Welcome to the Lindsey Buckingham Show. Lindsey is a brilliant, musical genius. Thank you for sharing your light with us. Of course, Fleetwood Mac is one of the greatest bands ever!
The lyrics to Lindsey's solo practically write themselves.... Pick out any desperate, passionate argument that two people who love each other have about the status of their relationship, and those words will drop right into place.......
Those 5 people are so incredibly talented!! I truly believe GOD wakes with Fleetwood Mac:: Go Your on Way connects with SO MANY PEOPLE;; Every time I hear that song my eyes tear up; every single time;;; one person will NEVER leave my heart & she knows who she is::: ❤️U 4 ever:: T
BEST CONCERT EVER FROM FM.... love loved it.... All songs were great ma fav was Gold Dust Woman Stevie's best performance of this song... and Christine's Songbird so beautiful....
The stars or planets or something must have lined up for this concert. Fleetwood Mac has always sounded great but this concert blew away everything before or since.
My first concert was Fleetwood Mac in 1977 at the HIC Arena now know as the Neal Blaisdell Center. They rocked then & even MORE SO in 1997. RIP Christine. We love you! You closed with Songbird then, same as in this 1997 Dance Tour. The vocal perfection & hook-writing of Christine, the talent & intensity of Lindsay & Mick are a joy to watch. The underrated playing of John & Lindsay. Gone is the Era-of-Talent like Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Police, Led Zepplin, Van Halen, etal. perhaps Adele or Bruno keeping it real now in the current Auto-Tune-crap-era
That's what I call a great band. Drums, base guitar player, singer, with back-up vocals, all getting "DOWN", on a classic song. Just let the vibes & show carry you away. My fav all time,Fleetwod Mac #.
Love this song so much! It describes my relationship with a guy who started out being "somewhere between like and love" with me, but changed his feelings and mind not much later on. He claimed that he still wanted to be my friend, but after several fights and lies, I told him to go his own way. Got this song on repeat until I can't stand these headphones anymore. Anyone else notice how Mr. Fleetwood is geeking out? XD
Just magnificent. Oddly the loudest concert I've ever been to was Fleetwood Mac and this particular song in Melbourne 3 or 4 years ago. And I've been to many rock concerts including the likes of AC/DC Oils, Chisel to name a few. The bass and sound from this band was huge.
how can anyone criticise this, just look how the group comes together, it's fantastic that the sounds & beat still stir me . I only wish I had seen them live at the time

They are all just amazing together.
Top 10 Greatest Band of All Time in History!!!
Lindsey Buckingham, one of the most underrated guitar players of all time.
In fact, hes in the same league than anyone u can think.
Welcome to the Lindsey Buckingham Show. Lindsey is a brilliant, musical genius. Thank you for sharing your light with us. Of course, Fleetwood Mac is one of the greatest bands ever!
This is what a real fucking band looks like. Period. They're not just there to act, they are bonded to each other, and the music is that bond.
Fleetwood Mac is the best is a perfect combination.
Wicked, just wicked! Everyone at their best in this one! Lindsay has awesome solos!
The lyrics to Lindsey's solo practically write themselves.... Pick out any desperate, passionate argument that two people who love each other have about the status of their relationship, and those words will drop right into place.......
Mick is always just vibing in the back lol
Those 5 people are so incredibly talented!! I truly believe GOD wakes with Fleetwood Mac:: Go Your on Way connects with SO MANY PEOPLE;; Every time I hear that song my eyes tear up; every single time;;; one person will NEVER leave my heart & she knows who she is::: ❤️U 4 ever:: T
How nice they did that reunion while everyone was alive and well.
That 1 person can go their own way, and not come back. This song is so amazing.
STILL A JOY TO LISTEN TO THEM!!!!
Probably the best live performance of this song by them
Lindsay 💜he's so good!!!
You can never replace Lindsay Buckingham. This guy is god!
NICE thumping beat to get this 1 rolling; the opening is just killer.......rock on!
how can anyone criticise this, just look how the group comes together, it's fantastic that the sounds & beat still stir me . I only wish I had seen them live at the time
