Oh, this will make such a nice gift and not take overly long to put together. I like the plastic rings but wonder how to find ones that are safe for baby to be putting into mouth and when teething gnawing on the rings. I think I will braid some fabric rings. I am going to use yellow woven fabric so the toy will be washable and stand up to the dryer.

Thank you, no I did not wash the felt first (I recommend to hand wash your felt and let it air dry (or follow the manufacturer's instruction), if you wish to pre-wash it first)
I used the heat erasable one, this kind of fabric marker will disappear with hot iron, you may want to put some kind of pressing cloth over your felt to protect it, or set your iron on lower heat setting (I will have that linked in the description box). Thank you :)
