- Vader let Reva live all through her life after joining the empire. She knew he was Anakin Skywalker, and Vader knew she knew this. This wouldn't fly. I don't think he would let her live this whole time.

I'm pretty open to trying this myself to sharpen my editing skills. I have literally not really uploaded since COVID (turns out depression really sucks creativity out of you) but I wanna get back into it. I'm thinking of doing a series of "Let's rewrite" Kenobi, WITH the restrictions of what we have; I'm not going to completely change the plot that loses the point of the rewrite. BUT I think even with what we have I can probably come up with something better than Harold. I'm so confused why they went with someone with NO experience in screenwriting, when they had Andrew Stanton come on for the pre finale and finale episodes. He has a DECORATED past as a screenwriter. Even as far back as the Toy Story films. It baffles me they didn't just have him from the start.
since he killed those shock troopers, did he allow the 501st to only know who he was? Because they had to know he is darth Vader, since they marched with him to the temple

I was told he saved 50stso thru were more loyal after order 66 compared to other troops

Vader saw how useful her rage could be, and for intended purpose it was. He let it slide knowing she wouldn't say anything, because she was there for herself and wanted only him. She never told anyone why and struck anyone down who was in her way. Vader liked it, but knew the truth
In my opinion Vader didn’t know she knew until episode 5. While she was talking with Obi-wan at the door and she started remembering the night of order 66 Vader may have been able to see it in her mind when she lost concentration on blocking Vader out. That would be why Vader said you really think I didn’t see it.
Reva is a schrödinger paradox. Without the universe and characters bending to her will, she wouldn’t exist. But if she didn’t exist, this show wouldn’t happen.
The show could easily have happened and made more sense had they just used Cad Bane instead of Reva. He and Obi-Wan have a history, Cad hunts Jedi, and would've been a better villain. They could've had him flush Obi-Wan out of hiding and start the chase and Vader and the Inquisitors get on the trail too. Could've easily had Maul thrown in as an underworld boss behind Cad and given us a proper Maul vs Kenobi vs Vader showdown where we get to see all three legends fighting.
The show would certainly exist without reva. In fact it should have been named reva.

My thoughts exactly. Was thinking of the comic you showed too.. I also was annoyed how distant obi wan became of the force.. he's there to protect Luke yet how does it make sense hed let himself get so weak. Great content as always.
It makes sense if you paid attention to the show as it was explained.
He was depressed and had PTSD because of everything that happened which was affecting him mentally and affecting his connection to the force.
Obi wan literally killed the greatest threats to the galaxy lol make no mistake Vader was not actively looking for obi wan which is why it took 10 years and reva to bring them together

One of the lightsaber styles included epic bantz to goad your opponent into making mistakes. Given how insecure Anakin always was, I feel like this would've worked well had Kenobi integrated it more into his defensive fighting style.

I have a thought that she probably voiced a desire to hunt down Kenobi, which served Vader's purpose. Beyond that he probably had a suspicion that she'd never tell a soul because then her life was over
the only thing i can think of is that Palpatine knew he needed inquisitors and maybe he had Vader purposefully only give flesh wounds to younglings with certain force abilities to activate their dark side powers and grow their hatred? Like Vader knew it was her the whole time and was only using her for her mind reading ability but was keeping the watchful eye on her the whole time
Would be nice, but unfortunately I think they legitimately aren't as insightful into these things and frankly they need to start selecting Star Wars fans to sign NDAs and give input to help patch their oversights before release.
That sounds horrible, like a bad idea. Imagine Palpatine trying to sell this idea to an Anakin who had not yet fully embraced the Dark Side and only just turned “Oh so yeah, while you’re in the temple slaughtering your Jedi brethren, make a visit to the younglings in particular and do your best to harm some of them while not killing them with your lightsaber, so that I can pervert their young minds and turn them into dark side slaves!” It’s both ridiculous and needlessly convoluted
I feel very much the same thing.. I was 9 when star wars came out ,I have been thinking about how to build a light Saber for close to 40 years..

Like someone recently said in the comics- You're not alive out of the goodness of Vader's heart. You're alive because he's still got a use for you. Vader left Reva alive because he still has a use for her. He even said the opposite to her when stabbed the crap out of her, but didn't kill. There were also a very small number who knew, and he didn't slaughter them like all the rest. Tarkin, Thrawn, Sabe
Can u do a vid breakdown on the weakness Reva had..which was lack of knowledge/training on the Force. Here is why:
1.She got tossed around by everyone with Force abilities from the GI to the 4th Bro and could never get out of their holds.
2.She was a youngling when she was taken and was training for combat but never really got to point of off/def Force usage. The Empire kept her weak by not training her more on this skill, only nurturing the mind probing skills that made her Force sensitive to begin.
3. She couldn't feel Luke above her in Cannon like most advanced Force users.
4. Vader is so advanced with this skill he knew he didn't need to use his own Lightsaber bc he could feel her total weakness thus why he knocks her around so much w the Force.
There are more examples but you get the idea...if she was fully trained on using the Force she could've stood more a chance to at least parry some of the moves on her. The Empire or Vader or the GI kept her skills limited there bc they knew her true past. I hope this is taken well and you break it down for us!
I think it is the one exception for Vader because he knows that her hatred of kenobi for failing anakin is one of his best shots at finding kenobi through using her. I think if he were to capture/kill kenobi he would then kill reva right then and there bc she is no longer useful + knows he’s anakin.

I just don't like anything about reva's character. Beyond the acting not being convincing, the show has focused so much on her, and less on vader. I would much rather see more of vader and kenobi and less of leia and reva.

I'd say once the real grand inquisitior contacted Vader after Reva stabbed him, Vader then knew she was up to something, Vader meditated on it and figured out who she was.. Vader said he had been watching Reva but that was only after she stabbed the grand inquisitior
I think Vader's desire to confront/kill Obi-Wan allowed him to make Reva his one exception for his 'you my name? You immediately die' rule....as she was his best bet for finding Obi-Wan.
To be honest I believe he did this cause he knew maybe that reva would lead him to obi wan that Vader himself couldn’t find for SEVEN YEARS. So he used her knowing that either way reva would die sense she knew that he was anakin. And also because sense this is a Vader between revenge of the sith and new hope, so He’s probably still a little hesitant every now and then to slay the second someone knows his identity. Cause as time goes on of course he gets consumed more and more by the dark side and only has but a micro slither of skywalker in him. So of course at a new hope and so on, he would be less merciful.
They should’ve made them romantic partners that sometimes have to do normal things like grocery shop and argue over paying bills. That’s what the fans *really* wanted.

Despite some times I don't agree with your opinion in a few things about star wars, I really like how honest you are about everything from movies to TV shows and comics. I really like your content and in my opinion you are exactly what a true star wars fan should be. It's ok to like whatever you want and you are a great example of how to criticize using facts. Love your channel, hope you grow and become more powerful than any Jedi!
What I don't understand is when people CLAIM to be "fans" of something, and then, seemingly, ALL they really want to do is complain about it.
It's like they knew that this went against Vader's character and then wrote that line in about how he would never allow this just to show the audience they know they changed it. That's the way I took it.
I think from the beginning he just want to "keep the ally close, the enemy closer"

I do agree that Vader would’ve killed Reva on the spot the moment he found out she knew but I do have two ideas as to why she was allowed to live.

the fact she was so desperate and earnest to track down Obi-Wan and help Vader fufill one of his Big goals might’ve stayed his hand.

Vader is older than he was in the first Vader comics (19 BBY to 12 BBY) and has changed a bit more to how he was in A New Hope.
That isn’t to say the scene was perfect, there should’ve been more explanation on Vader and the Gi’s part. And I do have some problems with the show (Especially episode 4)
But otherwise I have been enjoying the show. I tend to be forgiving of media’s inconsistencies as an artist and watching the Star Wars Gallery shorts similar to your takes on the Disney Era of Star Wars.

I wonder if he used Reva and allowed her existence thinking that she might’ve given him a good chance at finding Obi Wan faster. Like, everything that happened was bc he purposefully allowed it
It would have been a bit easier to swallow if Vader had just figured out who she was/where she was from after he’d learned of how she turned on the Grand Inquisitor.
But I agree, she would never have been left to possibly survive. Unless Vader assumed she would just die, but I doubt he’d assume that. Maybe he had a Force dream that she’d try to kill him or he foresaw that she’d die.
I’m going for Owen Lars killing her when she drags herself to Tattooine to either kill Luke or abduct him.
The scene when Reva and Owen met earlier in the series may have been hinting at it when Owen says something to the effect that he hates Jedi, they’re vermin and he kills vermin on his farm. He won’t have any love for her after her threats to kill him and when he discovers her on the farm he wouldn’t hesitate to shoot her.
I doubt it’ll happen but I think it would be good to see how protective Owen is and give him something decent to do in the finale.

I subscribed to this channel because of the Twitter BS that started this morning, and I gotta say: I love how you handled it. Liking the content so far too.
The caveats would be: If Vader respected the person enough to let it stand (Tarkin, Thrawn) or found some sort of value in letting the person live (Ahsoka at first "The Emperor will show you clemency") . Also, a large number of 501st troopers (the ones who survived the temple assault) definitely knew Anakin was Vader. He must have found value in letting Reva live. Also, wouldn't perhaps the Grand Inquisitor have known he was Anakin?
Doesn't Vader like the cat and mouse kind of behavior towards his subordinates though? If he knows they want to betray him, he wants to let them walk right up the edge of betrayal and let them give in to that urge just like he did. It's like he wants to see them fall in a grandiose way, lol.

This is my theory for that personally I think he does this so that way he can give them the chance he can never have with his master and that is a chance to actually have a good chance at winning.

I'm guessing we get Vader, obi and reva all back on tatooine, reva saves obi from being discovered and dies to Vader. Somehow. She really has to be killed off or were left with the "where has she been!?" issue.
Well the Grand Inquisitor most likely knows who he is. He was a Jedi Temple guard. I could be mistaken, but wasn’t he present during the Ashoka trial? He might not have realized until the GI came to him and decided to use her.
I'm not sure Vader truly knew she remembered until she attempted to attack him...it's possible that she wouldn't have known if not for her ability to read minds & emotions...she never saw him as Vader when she was a youngling...
I mean, it appears from what they said in the show that they allowed her to live specifically because she was so driven to find obi wan, which made her useful at least temporarily.
But there’s nothing that makes her uniquely qualified to find Obi Wan. The GI could’ve done just as well, probably better

I feel like the story of Reva and Vader runs contrast to the story of Obiwan and Vader. It shows he did learn these lessons from Obiwan shown in the duel scene. He just can’t control himself when it comes to Obiwan.

There is no way Vader would have let her live all of this time. He certainly would have finished her after she tried to attack him.
Also, from what we've seen of the Grand Inquisitor in Rebels, he would have not let her live.
I think there is a very slim possibility that Vader does this, and that is where he feels he can completely control the situation, it’s for a strategic purpose, and he will kill her anyway; or if the Emperor commanded it. That latter option has a very small amount of slack, though, as you showed with the comics. I hold out that sliver of hope the Finale will offer a plausible explanation.
I never got the impression Vader knew Reva knew about the Anakin stuff, only that she was plotting to betray him and went "Lmao, nice try but I saw it coming."
Only thing I can think of is we all know she pretended to be dead. Maybe she changed her identity after everyone left the temple and things were clear? Caleb Dume changed his name to Kanan Jarris when he was younger. So its not a stretch. I dont think Vader would recognize her 10 years later as she's clearly grown. Could be wrong. But just a theory.

SWT, you’re forgetting one thing: this is Disney’s SW. they dont care about established lore and continuity. Good storytelling is irrelevant to them. And sadly, they think they can make/write SW better than George.

I had hit you with a SuperChat on one of your streams, you didn't really agree with me and that's cool - however, I wanna bring this up again.. The line "He was wise to use you against me" {Vader Vs. Reva} - [Kenobi5] was (in my opinion) certainly written for a very particular reason. The reason itself - we obviously don't know for certain at this point.. (Yes it could absolutely be a comment made in passing, however, I don't believe that it is worth the time, nor is it the place to have Vader/ANAKIN appraise Kenobi.) I believe this statement is quite profound and intentional. Before I elaborate further, obviously we need to remember the fact; Anakin was a masterful tactician and an incredible warrior. We have seen this multiple times throughout the movies and also throughout the clone wars series. And so, as I am running on my own headcannon here I do not expect everyone to jump on board (Keep in mind I am particularly drawing reference to the 'cinematic cannon' rather than the comics where - some of which - we have recently seen to be retconned) I believe with what we have in with the current cinema, Vader/Anakin was far more intelligent than what we were given originally (in live action ~~ Where a lot of the audience began/remains). I would like to believe that he was able to read Reva's abilities when he stabbed her as a youngling. He made it clear in the Kenobi Series that he was aware she was alive during/after order 66 which is backed via the dialogue (in episode five) and so - he knew exactly who she was the entire time. I believe she was right where he needed her (I imagine for her abilities, some of which we know and I'd imagine some of which we don't.. Her power certainly speculates some kind of mind alteration, other than just reading) up until Kenobi dropped into the picture. Which obviously went the way that it did. I imagine Vader had plans for Reva - perhaps the hunting of Jedi (or Kenobi specifically), or perhaps something greater - maybe involving Palpatine. We don't know where that story is going at the moment.. However, we do know that Reva is supposed to be a very important character (thanks Disney), which in many ways is unfortunate given her abilities and.. well.. common sense. (she creates hurdles with the plot - writing a story around someone that can read people's minds would cause problems.. except for when they randomly decide they cbf doing that??) But I genuinely believe her arc is written specifically to tie into a future plot, or at least be referrenced. I think Vader is currently being written to have more depth - not a man baby, not a shell of a man - but a man who is genuinely intelligent and evil. Who ultimately can only be broken by his own blood... himself.. his child. Dunno, cool series so far though.

my thing is this, he may have wondered if she was going to level up where he could become the master and she the student. It's kind of sith Lore that the student attempts to slay the master.
I think it's also why Vader played all the inquisitors against each other. see who really develops in the Dark side. Besides Resurrecting Padme is a direct connection to Anakin so he doesn't shun everything Skywalker just the things he finds weak and useless
I’m hoping he’s going to go after if there is a season 2. I think he knew that she wouldn’t say anything because she thought she had the upper hand and was “hunting him”. I think he let her own hubris keep her silent. Basically like oh he doesn’t know I know, I can get close and kill him and Vader sensed it all.

I think he knew it was her the second time they crossed paths. Maybe she escaped somehow big maybe. but that being said i think she caught him off guard by wanting to join the inquisitorius but he knew she was the one who survived and was waiting to see how long it would take to show her true intentions or if she was serious about joining him.
I feel like they make star wars for the casual fans and not fans who read books, comics, and sometimes fans who have seen the animated shows. I feel like they make the shows assuming the watcher has only seen movies and they put Easter eggs for fans of everything else.

I think that Vader knew she was a youngling but not THE youngling. Everyone knew she used to be a Jedi so I think that Vader was just calling her that to be demeaning considering she was a youngling who joined them. To me it didn’t seem like Vader knew that Reva knew he was Anikan and that’s why she wanted to kill him. Instead it came off as Reva was a former youngling hellbent on betraying the empire cause she didn’t like them, and Vader used that to get closer to Kenobi.
I guess we must all realize different writers simply change things becuase of their pride

I suppose that he'd find Reva's motivation and rage useful, as the Grand Inquisitor said. It makes sense that he'd want to make use of her, for however long that he could. The other Jedi that couldn't be turned needed to be eliminated as quickly as possible, and only a minority of them would turn. He kept tabs on her, and wasn't wrong in assuming that he'd be able to thwart her if she tried to betray him. After all, he just God-stomp her, in episode 5.
I played it out as if Vader was just conducting an experiment. I think he didn't always know her true identity, just eventually pieced it together. Maybe he saw something interesting about her, and wanted to see how things played out since she did get results in bringing obi Wan to him. But he always planned to kill her and that's why he plotted with the original Grand Inquistor before he eventually pulling the reverse double cross on her. He knew she wasn't a true threat in anyway, so he set aside his principles on the subject of people knowing that hes skywalker for a specific task.🤷♂️ thats how I justified it anyway.

I think the idea that Vader knows that Reva knows who he is for as long as she did was...okay. But that moment when Vader was angry and showed up the Inquisitor fortress, and forces chokes Reva. That should've have been the last straw, even if she tracked them. Should've snapped her neck and tracked them himself.
He must have let her live as long as she has because he sensed she'd be able to find kenobi

Was he killing because the troopers knew the unmasked Vader was Anakin? I don’t think thats necessarily the case. It seems its more like once he’s disfigured/suited up, if someone saw him in his “weak” form without that, he killed them
It could be that he knew Reva was the youngling, But maybe he did NOT know that SHE knew he was Anakin Skywalker. If that makes sense.

Obi-wan would have known Vader was still alive because Bail Organa would have known about Vader and told him, if he hadn't heard about it in those 10 years by himself.
They don't care about it making sense because they have no respect for the story, the lore, or the fans.

You summed it up when you compared his mindset. He’s half way between rots Vader and anh Vader. He is starting to be more tactical. She is supposed to be a newer inquisitor. I think if it was 19-14bby Vader she would be dead immediately.
Reva just surviving Order 66 would have sent him into rage and he would have killed her immediately it doesn't make sense that he let her live
TLDR; consistency within the canon is an impossible task for Disney.
The quicker we can all just accept Disney knows nothing about Star Wars, the easier it is we can all move on and just rewatch 1-6 and Rouge One and call it a day.

I have a theory that could justify keeping Reva around during this time until she wound up betraying him. He knew the whole time, however I think he was able to feel her hatred for Obi-wan and her desire to find him. I think this made him take a step toward the cold and calculating Vader we know of by using her as a tool to find Kenobi and nothing else. This would be why the phrase "Kenobi is all that matters" was their main connection. He knew that she had a power, and he saw the advantages of using her in his goal to find him. He was watching her with great detail to make sure the secret she holds doesn't get out and he would know exactly when her usefulness would run out. The entire situation was like a game. Yes he wanted to kill her for knowing. But in this case, Kenobi was all that mattered to him in those moments.

I think the reason Vader kept praising her was to keep her happy so she didn’t feel the need to tell anyone

I can accept Vader using Reva. Even though Reva knew his name, Vader also knew Reva would never risk revealing his name while she was working for him, because that would compromise her own mission of getting close to Vader. What I can't accept is Vader leaving Reva alive at the end of Episode 5. Now she could potentially tell EVERYONE. She's openly his enemy.

You echo my thoughts perfectly on this show, especially the laughter at 5:30 - thats how i feel, just throwing my hands up and laughing because these writers are making their own fan fiction and theirs nothing we can do but "not think about it" or "stop nitpicking and just enjoy" - this is where we are at with Star Wars? just.... accept mediocrity? 🤣
Reva is a character that just feels inserted into a situation she doesn’t belong in in an attempt to endear the audience to her because she’s a writer’s insert character. She is literally your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate that no one cares about but we’re supposed to like because reasons. I don’t care about her, but they’re gonna make a spin-off for her. Joy.

Not nitpicking, it is a valid point and a big hole in Anakin's character that he is suddenly so forgiving to this person.. who on top of betraying and working to undermine him.. now also literally made an attempt on his life.. still barely kills her and then walks off. Just plot armor in all it's glory.
I mean he did use her to her full capacity and then got rid of her. I do agree that it's unlikely for someone to survive that kind of a stab twice but we've seen people in Star Wars survive worse

@@cleaneztclips5607 I don’t buy it. Even if you were to argue that Vader wanted someone to suffer for a period of time, why Reva of all people. In any other instance where Vader has to deal with some pest, he would kill them and be on with it. The answer to this issue is that Disney wanted to develop this character in a domain that she should never have been thrust into, thus creating an unrealistic scenarios and actions for the other characters around her.
