As being a past semi-pro/pro endurance athlete (cyclist), having a background in the medical field, and doing manual labor almost every day...even while still being in "great shape" I can really start to sense changes in the body...they are subtle. Subtle, or not, while being as a whole, the changes are absolutely relentless! THIS is pretty scary especially after seeing this episode! I will venture to say that this probably one you absolute best Dr. Sten Ekberg! Mosly because this presentation can hit home to most anyone who actually takes the time to listen. Realize that THIS is critical information that can probably change every aspect of your life...not many get to experience what it feels like to be at the very top your game. Simply put, it is a feeling this is out of this world. I have a feeling that for many if they take all this to heart...the differences felt between "now vs. later" would also be a feeling "out of this world." Thank you Dr. Ekberg for truly opening my eyes.

I have an interesting related story to tell ..
My UK NHS dentist took me off his list because I hadn't been in for two years (I brush well, inc gums). Back of queue? No, they don't even have a waiting list.
It was a bad time of life for me to sort this kind of thing out so I thought I would just go without a dentist, but as I have a sensitive tooth, and i wanted to be sure of no cavities, I completely stopped taking any kind of sugar except where it's unavoidable. I even avoided sweet cereals. I've been for years like that now, and the results are absolutely amazing. I had every single one of those symptoms in some small way, sometimes in a large way ... especially unstable energy. All gone. And I have not had a proper cold or 'flu in years (I'm 63 and walked off Covid easily too)
    SO IT WORKS!!

What you discussed are knowlege so much needed in this world of " mainstream ignorance".
I experiened all those signs and symptoms at age 45.I felt so old.i craved sugar to the point of no return. I was diagnosed as prediabetic.I refused to take anti sugar meds. My visions became blurry. No time to watch videos nor read health articles.
At age 55 I was overweight with enlarged liver.I have asthma attacks, colds and flu more frequently than most people. My joints get frozen in the morning I could not even turn.

I discovered that you are based about 77 miles southeast of me. I want to find a doctor amenable to keto and carnivore in my rural mountain area. Will be searching for a new one before next summer. The only one I had who encouraged a low carb/keto way of eating passed away suddenly and I was left floundering yet again. I only go to the doc once each year to retest my thyroid to see if my Synthroid is still correct because I'm never sick. My current provider, a PN, became angry when I challenged her suggestion to eat "heart healthy" because my total cholesterol was just over 200, meaning again, ignorance about cholesterol (I'm an almost 67 yr old woman. My trig were only 55, HDL 60). I eat mostly carnivore. Ignorance is rampant in the medical community about sugar and everything else to do with diet. Generally, I can't even broach the subject with any doctor. Appreciate your channel. ~Cynthia

I got rid of sugar and all sweeteners several years ago. Don't miss it. I was always more of a spicy food kind of guys as opposed to sweets anyway. Lost a lot of weight (about 25% of my peak weight). I also don't eat processed foods with any additives. The most processed foods I eat are red lentil pasta (one ingredient, red lentils) and canned fish (in water or olive oil).
Although I had lost a lot of weight, I decided to stop drinking alcohol about a year ago. I almost immediately lost 2" off my waist. That was a bit of a problem because I had just bought several pairs of jeans (on sale) having lost 2" at the beginning of my diet change.

What he is saying about ppl having trouble tasting all the flavors of savory food like Steak, Fish & Vegetables, etc IF they eat too much sugar - that's just not true. My father LOVED sugar. He put too much in his cereal, he loved sweets and candy. He lived to be 92 and never had any physical problems attributed to sugar intake. I tend to take after my father, too. I don't eat as much sugar as he did (I don't think) but I do love sweets. I eat a lot of sugar overall. But my tastebuds haven't suffered one bit. I can taste and thorougly enjoy all those savory foods - and I can savor them too. So that claim is not accurate for everyone. Sugar provides empty calories - no nutrition whatsoever - but it doesn't cause diabetes. And sugar alone does not cause obesity either. That comes from eating too many pastries, butter, ice cream, cake, etc. Too much sugar might be harmful to some ppl, but not everyone. jmho

The reason its easier and more realistic to avoid alcohol than it is added sugar is because added sugar is in everything. It feels unfair to compare the two because alcohol is often bought as its own product e.g bottle of wine whereas sugar is just another ingredient that can be added to any food/product
If I want quit alcohol I will say "okay, i will no longer buy that bottle of wine or gin" the sugar equivalent would be to say "okay I will no longer buy those sweets" but what about the sugar in my ketchup or in my low fat yogurt or my cereal for brekafast?
It is much harder to cut out sugar than alcohol or drugs in my opinion

    • @TampaDave

Man, this is really interesting to watch. For a period of time I would eat sugary foods mostly whenever. Not really taking into account much how much I was having. Having some soda, having a dessert later on in the day. But after ive been watching my sugar intake for 6 months and limiting it below 36 grams at most, but usually around the 25g mark, the difference is insane. I used to get some sugar cravings at night, strong urge that I had to put away and which concerned me, i dont have those any more at all.
I still have sugar, about like.. every other day in some form, but it never goes above the suggested daily intake. If i have a soda, i only have half of it because a single one goes far above. And if i have a less sweet cereal with some milk, im basically not eating much sugar at all for the rest of the day. My sugar cravings are gone and replaced with hunger to eat actual food instead (the ice cream i'd eat every other day goes uneaten in the freezer and forgotten), the random aches and paints i'd get randomly and commonly are gone, those breakouts have been like.. maybe I've had 1? When they used to be common. I don't feel bloated, and ive been losing or at a stable weight.
Additionally, i always felt TIRED. Tired randomly, bursts of energy, wanting to stay in bed tired and exhausted, burst of energy but now i have energy at appropriate times throughout the day and get tired when i should.
Please, anyone having above the suggested limit, you can keep having sugar as far as I can tell.. but limit yourself. It'll make your life way better and you won't even have to give up your tasty foods. It'll just make you appreciate them when you have them more.

It's wonderful to learn something truthful about the world we live in. Chemistry is fascinating. Thank you so much, Dr. Ekberg, for explaining the difference between "glucose" and "sucrose"! I really need to completely eliminate sugar; I've eliminated everything except for one specific treat. Sugar is completely Addictive. I'm 78 and again have acne; painful itchy raised bumps that drive me crazy and it's all because of Sugar! Thank you for all of your enlightening lectures. Knowledge is power.

Thank you Dr.Ekberg for this life saving information🙏 I am trying to make better choices in my mid 40s. Used to be athletic up to my late 20s but I got busy and constantly tired especially after choosing to be home with my kids (my choice and hubby was supportive ...also and I don't have regrets just being honest) I was tired and run down looking after 2 active boys and managing the cooking and cleaning😂.
I didn't eat well and definitely didnt make time for exercise. I'm feeling so crappy as its been years now...I know its up to me to make changes. I loved coffee even though I was having trouble digesting it. I cut it out for over 3 months and im feeling better. I also am cutting salt/sugar/oil and carbs. Theres alot of stuff in our food!!! The best is whole foods and portion control. Salad can be unlimited but we make our own dressing. Can pair with grilled salmon or chicken. Cut down on rice and potatoes. I started meal prepping and its one of the best things I've done.
I hope everyone watching this video is encouraged to make the changes we all need to in order to have a better quality of life for us and our loved ones❤

It's difficult to avoid added sugar. They stuff it into everything. No matter what you go buy in a grocery store, there is sugar in it. We spend hours reading labels looking for food with no sugar in it. Of course, we ate buying raw meet and veggies but sometimes you want a variety of food not what's left to buy when looking for something without sugar... Same with vegetable oil. They stuff that scrap in everything too.

That's why I rarely go out and eat anymore, I can't trust how a meal is prepared. On the rare occasion I do go out, I presume they use recycled bad cooking oil. When I do have fruits, I have mostly berries & apples. I avoid pineapples and many other tropical fruits.

The "getting started as kids" is very true. I drank Kool-aid as a baby, so sugar is the hardest addiction for me to kick. The only thing allowing me to not eat it (over a year now!) is that sugar tends to piggyback with soy. Unless I add it myself (or make desserts), I can't eat most sugary things so it's sorta easy to not eat sugar. Going carnivore definitely helped re: fruits too. lol

There’s also salt …lots of sodium to spike your blood pressure. Also high saturated fats -high cholesterol. So after avoiding all this stuff what’s left ? I have tried to cut way back on sugar and this has backfired on me. Alcohol too is a sugar. It’s a losing battle.

Very good review! I wish I could educate people at work about sugar dangers. On the home front, I have a family member who has dropped most sugar but for fructose (sigh) in the form of peaches and apples (am working on it). Thanks to so-far sugar reduction, though, their skin where it was formerly darker, rougher, and itchier, is now lighter, clear, smooth, and without itchiness. I emphasize that improvement to them in the hope it sinks in that all forms of sugar are challenging to the body. Thank you for this, you're saving lives Dr. Ekberg!

I started to eliminate additional sugar in my diet and was hoping that it was the cause of my muscle pain as I notice it to be more severe after I had a few pieces of candy. Bye-bye additional sugar, and I will think twice before I take another bite of food with added sugar
