I thought the diet I was trying with fish, meats plenty of veg was good. Now it isn't unless you can afford organic. Most shops by me have no organic in most of the foods you mention. Not really a lot you can eat now if trying to reduce your carbs and sugars without dangerous chemicals and mercury? Now makes me think that the healthier diet with low carbs no processed is maybe now more harmful. You can't really change your diet then to natural without harming yourself in another way to reduce insulin resistance. Blueberries were supposed to be good, and advised to eat on keto low carbs. In all the stores by me that type of fruit there is no organic. Never seen organic cabbage either or green beans. Just organic carrots, not really any choice if many meats are unavailable in organic either, or if you don't have a budget to buy. Also been told that grass fed also means the animal has had access at sometimes to grass but not all the time. If you fed a cow grass for just a week before you sold the meat. Does that mean a farmer can call it grass fed. They aren't lying even though they could have fed it mostly in another way.? It's scary to know now that I was thinking I was eating healthy then to find out I've been putting mercury and dangerous pesticides inside my body when I was likely doing more good on processed. Which way of eating is now less harmful? So confusing. Would be more so worrying if you were feeding your children mercury and chemicals as they were growing to now find out. The answer is dont eat, food is dangerous in any form. Just maybe best to eat whatever you want, take your doctor's medicine to mask the symptoms the disease, because although food may be the answer and to address the root cause, but it's not available without dangerous chemicals. Even a fish that eats natural is poisoned by us, so as a good source of food is now dangerous to eat.😳😳😡🥴😱😱😶‍🌫️🙁

Before 50 years, almost everyone had a garden too. That makes the food been organic, because you don’t deal with big quantity. The same thing happens with the animals we all consume. How do you think they grow the grass for caws? I have a peach tree, and 3/4 goes to the garage every year. I do it because my garden is a therapy for me, but someone who has a family and depend on that productions, nobody in this world 🌍 works for free thinking about the others. Money talks all the time.

Growing up as a child in Washington state, many of our small town parks were planted with enormous fruit trees. On the way to school, we could grab a pear, apples or whatever. We ate ripe, juicy plums by the bucket-load! Plums were everywhere. I still remember how wonderful it was to bite into a warmed by the sun - summer plum. Very seldom we got to the cherries, because the birds, especially robins, would eat them.

I have a good garden, and I spend hours everyday in it, I come from a farmer’s family, if people wants to eat more organic they have to buy the seeds, they are extremely expensive, make beds, nourish that soil, plant, take care of them everyday. Pick the fruits, processed them and you will eat a few months from it. Do that every year, there’s no vacations, or eat out of season from the store hopefully you won get sick. We all have to put in balance what is more important for us. Not everyone want to be a farmer, but we should be more conscious about where they go through too.

Finally all the facts together in one place... Great video. Should be introduced in primary schools as part of the biology classes or separate subject all together. Only one thing wasn't mention about sugars. When sugar (glucose) level in blood jumps up not only glucose resistance is created but also insulin level jumps up too. And insulin is a necessary bad hormone which has a bad effect on thyroid gland. When thyroid function is disrupted your ghrelin and leptin hormones go out of balance and makes you food intake increased dramatically which comes back to amount of toxin intake...

Hi Dr. I am a 67 year old trying Keto as my last resort. I have no thyroid. It got disintegrated from a chemo treatment 40 years ago in Boston with two top specialists back then. 40 years ago. I was always a skinny kid and adult up to that point. Have been heavy since. Tried every diet, been to so called nutritionists (gained weight in THEIR plans) had two different shots, and nothing works. I also have sleep apnea, pernicious anemia, and digestive disorders. Since Keto, I feel MUCH better. I started on carnivore and was nauseous for two weeks and could not sustain that so I turned to Keto. Much better. I love the foods and I am shocked to tell you I have no cravings at all. Well sometimes I really want bacon. lol. But no sugar cravings AT ALL! Shocking for me. I thank you for all your info. I am getting a shocking education from all this. I hope this works. I have lost 9 pounds in two weeks. I have never been able to get over 12 pound loss. We will see if it continues!! I will continue with this lifestyle no matter what. I know reversing insulin resistance takes a long time. I’ve been like that for at least five years and want to break it. Thanks for all you do. Eliminating some of the biggest offenders is a good way to get a lot of breathing room to allow some other choices.
I eat a fair amount of berries in my diet, but I have only a tiny amount of alcohol per year (maybe a couple of beers in a year and I recently tried to increase to a bottle or two of red wine, spread out in small portions, which I find helps my stomach a bit when I'm eating a lot more red meat). I generally eat pretty low carb most of the time, although I increase that when I am training hard. I eat around 3-4kg of blueberries per year and have about 2kg of my own strawberries per year that I use from my freezer. I have zero guilt for that. I am a relatively inactive person. As a writer, artist, and physically lazy person, I love to sit here all day watching stuff on my big desktop computer, from Dr. Ekberg to Netflix, Prime, RUclips, etc. I rarely exercise (every a.m. in bed, with some Pilates on the side). I am pretty much keto, thanks to Dr. Ekberg. I have not eaten sugar in twenty-five years - white, brown or corn syrup - no cakes, no bread, gave up diet sodas I was addicted to, no processed foods. I mostly eat salads with shrimp, tuna and lots of green, red and yellow veggies, onions, etc. I sip warm water all through the day. I love coffee, but only have a couple of cups a day. I eat keto sweets ("Enlightened ice cream chocolate bars) and some strawberries cut up for breakfast with yogurt, cream a couple of teaspoons of peanut butter, cashews and stevia for flavoring. I only eat two kinds of fish: salmon and tuna. I eat eggs every couple of days - scrambled or hard-boiled. I love mayonnaise and olive oil. I've lost weight, have kept my shape, not flabby (though prone to weight fluctuation because I am a compulsive overeater, but since doing keto just keep losing, slowly).I had a recent physical with lab tests. I have ZERO health problems. Normal blood pressure; low cholesterol, heart is fine. So I'm not the "perfect specimen" of a health nut, in that I eat what I love, am mostly keto (a few low-carb crackers a couple of times a week) and hardly exercise at all. I won't say my age but here's a hint: I'm not a young person. Oh - and I meditate and pray daily for almost an hour, without fail. Frankly, that is, I believe, the greatest medicine of all. Just want to wrap with a big Thank You! to Dr. Ekberg for turning me on to keto. I don't agree with everything he recommends, but close. PS Wish I could eat more broccoli but frankly, it's to hard for me, even "well-cooked." and both my parents died fairly young: my mom, a lifelong smoker, at 49, my father, an athlete, at 67.

Thank you, Sten, for this informative video. It is so easy to understand when you explain things. I learn something from every video. Biggest problem: SUGAR is addictive. One must quit Cold Turkey, because as long as you have that "sweet" taste and never allow your body to change back to normal sweetness, you will always seek sugar. I’m now headed out for my run, hope I don’t get hit by a car, when I get back I will prepare a grass fed unseasoned chicken breast and a glass of distilled water for my only meal today, lol. Dr. Ekberg, I'm not sure if you've addressed this, but I'd like to hear your thoughts about it. Rice has some sort of spore, which is not destroyed by cooking. Cooked rice, if kept for a few days, can grow this spore in the rice. I know that for myself, if I ever eat rice, even right after cooking, it always gives me a lot of gas. At first, I thought this was just because of the carbs, but other carbs don't affect me this severely, so I'm assuming that it's the spore causing the gut upset. You seem to not be aware that things other than foods can create toxic conditions within the body! I am referring to total environmental affectations, such as the air we breathe, the things we touch that can enter the body through the organ of our skin, everything we have been exposed to throughout our lifetimes! The food we eat is only one factor!

Beef, chicken, pork, eggs salt and butter. Mostly beef. Cream and stevia in my coffee. Your body will start craving fatty beef more than anything. Fake food becomes gross. Most menus are full of useless non-food.

Hi Dr Sten. First and foremost, thank you SO much for your wonderful work and videos. One thing I noticed is that you don't talk much in the context of active vs non-active lifestyle. For example, I've been a lifelong cyclist and bike 6-10 thousand miles every year. I ride at least 20 miles per day. I also suffer from chronic pain related to crash injuries (spinal fusions) and have to take Pregabalin, Duloxetine etc to control pain. But I continue to ride, hike, garden, and keep my body moving all day long. It's when I become inactive in the evening, and in sleep, that my body hurts and causes terrible sleep and misery getting out of bed. My A1C is 5.6 and glucose typically around 9, or just in range. This said, I was a drinker for most of my life (cyclists luuuv beer!) until last year, due to the interaction with the meds (started causing terrible headaches) and admit to drinking sodas and iced teas and lots of starch and bagels and other high sugar foods esp during the summer. I have no choice. When you are out riding, and you stop at a convenience, the only alternatives are water and "diet" beverages which are worse than HFCS for example. And you can't just drink water; it has to have kick, electrolytes, etc. So what do you do? Kind of the same problem with foods -- everything sold at these places is junk really, but you have to eat. I don't ever hear you touching on this, in spite of you yourself having been an athlete. IMO, the body processes these ingredients in a different manner when you are athletic vs sedate, and your videos seem to assume we are all sedate. In the meantime, I am caught out in confusion because nobody understands me and how I can be in so much pain yet remain so active. Without the pain meds above I would be debilitated completely, yet is the sugars somehow contributing to it? I would love to see you do an episode on this where it relates to inflammatory foods on the fit body vs the out of shape, and how serious quantities of exercise affect how we process sugars and this "bad stuff". Thanks so much and be well!

I've had to quit everything. I'm day 45 of carnivore and haven't had any crisis's. It's taking a while to clear the brain but depression lifted the first week. Some people do this as a tempoary elimination diet but I'm thinking this will be a way of life for me now. Every time I strayed from keto (because of carb addiction) it took longer to get back.
Just an example of my brain deteriation I was driving thru my home town, of 40 years, and got lost twice in one week. Lost my bearings. It's not fun.
