As always a great experience working with Marcus! it was my pleasure to have you as a guest. Thank you guys for watching! On a short note, Paceman was detuned by downsizing the turbo, higher output package (360awhp) had too much turbo lag, even with ethanol…We working on a quick spooling setup on R400 DNA. Should be interesting 😅
This Mini looks so sharp. I love that downward slope in the roofline. Maybe it's the upward slope of the beltline as it goes toward the back of the car. Idk but it looks tough as hell.
I love that slope too. It feels like a missed opportunity to further advance down the Paceman path. Especially if they built it lower and more nimble than what it is from factory.
@roadsuntravelled this was my first Mini and I bought a 2015 with a sub-model S, it’s super rare to find a 2016 JCW fully loaded. I found someone selling there’s for $36,000 at the time I bought I bought the model I use to have. I love this video and yes it’s a forgotten model and it’s eye catching Mini.
It is good to hear that RPM is actually developing bits for the r56 engine. The site was all F model Mini parts, and I was a disappointed R56 JCW Mini potential customer. Time to give it another go! Fun video, thanks very much, cheers!
Am going to be downsizing cars and was seriously looking at a Countryman JCW. Was also toying with maybe making the switch to an EV as an alternative. Everytime I watch a video like this it keeps me coming back to a Mini for my next car.
Nice to watch.... I have x2 Countrymans Cooper S JCW's and love them both ~ like described the turbo loves to pop when warmed up and hot (one of my JCW's has a Chilli Pack and really looks the part)
Can you give us a build list. I've been considering building my Paceman S all 4 for way to long. Thanks in advance and thanks for the R&D Lorenzo! You're the man
I really like the look and size of the paceman - id love to get a paceman JCW here in the UK - talking about 10k for one, im just not sure what the performance is like!
Would be really fun to see a tuned Paceman with the 2.0L diesel. It won't be as fast as this one but it will pull like crazy against all odds and get fantastic range.
Bro your telling me on factory n18 motor we can make 360whp safely? If so when I get methanol injection come spring I'll send you my ECU for a tune. I'm on 21psi right now about 260-270whp. Jmtc s42 turbo. Full bolt ONS. Hd clutch etc. Would love to get over 300whp .
I have a 2018 Clubman S that my daughter wanted then changed her mind on. It's now my daily. I don't drive far. Maybe 250 miles a month at the most. 30,000 miles on this car and lights come on all the time. They trim on the outside is falling apart and I see the paint failing. It saddens me how poorly built this car is. I can't imagine it will last 100,000 miles the way its going. My second car is a 2005 Acura RL. 227,000 miles on that car. I use it to drive from Arizona to California and back. No lights coming on and the paint and trim look great. I bet the Acura would out run the little mini in race....lol
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 well it depends on what parameter is based on if its for reliability I will give you that, but for tuning and aftermarket support N14s are years ahead
That 1.6 THP is famous for being one of the worst engined ever made. Putting a big turbo on it will even screw it up faster. With 400 horsepower it is doomed to break. It clogs up the intakes with burned oil real fast and it also has a weak chain that stretches already without tuning. But that paceman is a nice car. Very cool. The 2.0 engine as a base in the newer ones is the best choice as a base to tune on, it is way more reliable and it already has a more basepower.
Problem of Paceman is that it looks ugly and outdated; if you look at r56 it looks timeless, if you look at Paceman you know it was created when somebody like Kesha was in her peak of her career... just bad bad
Nice car,but u can't get away from the fact that, the engines sucks,no reliability..so many people test these cars.an all get the same thing..Motors sucks..

Been following this development. Always believed the r6x platform was interesting and untapped. RPM your work is appreciated.
The attention to detail and drive to problem solve with real-world testing is what impresses me most. Built to last.

@@RoadsUntraveled missed opportunity indeed
@@RoadsUntraveled they were just to expensive to compete in it's class hence the poor sale's and why it ended up being killed off.

Detuned his Mini from 360hp to 285?? Who’s this guy think he is Ryosuke Takahashi 😂😂
smaller turbo, earlier boost peak, more fun to chuck around
Go turn a wrench
I've gone from hating the paceman to considering buying one. They're just very cool cars!
Ppl underestimate these cars … but they really are one of a kind fun sports cars which can if properly tuned are little beasts

doesnt exist in north america
Nice looking Paceman!!
I love my 2013 paceman.
Looking forward to y'all F56 build 😁 6spd stick please
The thub nail is what the people on the street say😂
The paceman was not forgotten. More confusion when mini stopped production.

Weird that the Paceman didn't sell well.
Wrong timing I think, a Paceman style vehicle would probably sell better now.
Do you also have such conversion kits for the f60 Mini JCW for 360hp?🧐
Where is the updated rev counter from. I’d love to make mine digital like that.
Love it in that color...red top and rest black satin😈👌❤❤❤
Will Automatic transmission hold with this R400 kit?
Whens the update vid coming for this?
This shit is GORGEOUS
My dream car
How much to get a paceman jcw to 286whp so like 310hpish? all in and all supporting mods how much?
I'd love to do this to my 13 r55 jcw
Methanol, bigger turbo, forged rods
🔥🔥🔥
Burble tunes should be outlawed, this is a prime example as to why. Sounds like someone was hitting the exhaust pipe with a hammer.
Is this an ALL4?

I think bmw has closed all mini plants in europe and minis will be built only in china soon.hopefully quality will improve.
So cool that they have BMW engines.
They don't only F chassis 2015-present
This chassis (R) has a peugeot engine
@@kennydelgado441 Yeah I found out this is an older model. Not a fan of that. BMW's latest and greatest is definitely better than a Peugeot product.

What is the Paceman?
It's a countryman but 2door
Suv
Secret to my mini making power was to put a turbo k20 into it lol easy 400whp for a joke. Mini stuff can't hold power
How tf are there cooler cars with manuals in America??
I own two pacemans sd for daily use And a modified jcw . Great cars
That shit heavier than a c6 Corvette 🤣
Is Corvette AWD?
@@gshamptons the new eray is lol so yes
The only thing confusing is the year of that Paceman, and the super low detuned power numbers.
I call BS❗
Needs a proper supercharger instead. immediate power and plenty of torque and full RPM range power.
Give it back
Also here in America not many people drive this, it's always Honda I see really boring to see Hondas u see everday
👍

N18 is reliable tho , its the n14 that's sucks(2007-2010) engines
Too bad the corporation is known for their on reliability, consumer reports
Worst car I ever owned.
Cool car but pops and bangs are childish realy.
