Great video! Do you mind "staring" (I think that's what you call it) this comment so it stays at the top? I had to scroll down quite a bit on my phone to find it. As more people comment the further down it'll go. Thank you in advance!
Thank you for another inspirational styling video Melissa. I can imagine that including all the different links is very time consuming, but I really appreciate it when you include the Australian links too ❤️
The biggest learn I’ve finally come to terms with after finishing my career is to buy for my new much changed lifestyle & not “fantasy” me . It’s taken me a while to stop buying for who I used to be & it’s been hard lol 😂 Loving your content Thankyou
Good one! I love how you wrote fantasy me! I agree that our style can change and we definitely need to listen to ourselves, our personality and fantasy, how we want to feel and look!❤️
Thank you Melissa for all you do. Your videos are really helping me to dress for my shape and my lifestyle when I had all but given up on myself at 44. Still learning, however I’m getting much more confident in myself and have some lovely clothes 😊. You’re so inspiring and look beautiful in all your outfits 🙏💖
I'm so glad! Please don't give up on y ourself, you're still a spring chicken at 44! Just wear things that make you feel comfortable and confident. We do 1:1 online styling for people all over the world if that helps. x
Just subscribed. I feel that I can learn a lot from your channel. Many changes in my life in last few years-- middle age, moved from subtropical climate to the north of England, and dressing for comfort due to autoimmune disease (occasional wheelchair use). I look forward to viewing your content! Thanks for sharing this with us! 🙂
Just want to add that you will NOT be disappointed following Melissa. She is very talented but even more so, very clear in how she describes anything she is showing. She recently did a video with her mother, highlighting a mature petite-size woman’s options when wanting to dress appropriately. I think you would find it fun and most informative. Happy watching! 🇨🇦
H Just wanted to say, “Hi!”. I’m a John’s Island girl relocated to eastern Tennessee. We love England. Our first experience was in July. I have autoimmune issues as well. I hope you’re doing well right now.
@@barbarabrockman5077 Apologies, I literally received notification of this comment today (Nov. 21)! Thank you for the kind thoughts. I think eastern Tennessee is a beautiful area of the country. 🙂
Thank you Melissa! This autumn I purchased a rust colored faux suede jeans jacket that I can wear with somw dark wash jeans and white shirt I already had. I can also wear it over a new dark grey/rust paisley slip dress. The dress can also be worn with a stone colored v neck jumper for a skirt and top look. Each of these silhouettes were chosen based on styling tips I learned from your videos. Thanks for encouraging me to try new colors and ideas for combining new and old pieces!
Loved this video! Thank you so much for adressing sustainability and not making people buy clothes they wont wear. I am struggling to get my trousers go with my shoes and would really love a video with tips on how to match long/ cropped jeans with shoes for different climates.
I recently had a double mastectomy without a reconstruction after having breast cancer… I’m 36 now and I’m not feeling very confident anymore, also because my hair is still short and my belly is still bloated, so I’m trying to change my wardrobe to feel more beautiful and these tips are really helpful! Even when it looks slightly different on my because of my body type but it helps me look at clothing differently. Thank you ❤
You fought breast cancer...your body will return to a more normal state..be easy on yourself. I list a ton of hair over a tragic event. I bought a good collagen. I feel like my hair is better than it has been in a long time. A friend of mine had breast cancer...sure was tough times. Hugs to u.
What an incredibly helpful video! Can't wait for the accessories/jewelry one! I don't know if you would ever have the time or interest, but I bet there are a many of us who would pay for a "cheat sheet" of specific recommended pieces each season across the 10 categories, by body shape. I.e., if you're pear-shaped, these are the three best striped jumpers for you to pick up this fall. Anyway - thank you for continuing to share your knowledge through these videos in the meantime.
I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed you would do a video like this and once again you didn’t disappoint. I’m on a tight budget but with your help and amazing tips I still feel like I can look nice and feel good about myself
🙌 How many times did you say sustainability?? Brilliant! Brilliant!! 👏 It should be high street normalcy (? is that a word?😂) The more you find good alternative like Vivaia and talk about eco friendly/sustainable clothing and a Capsul Warderobe as THE sustainable way to go without beeing boring. On the contrary, it leaves you with more money to do fun/cool/dope stuff in your Melissa Murell inspired FLEEK Capsul wardrobe! Love it Melissa 😘
Hi again Melissa! I've been watching your videos for a year now I think, and I could see that in this video you've summarized really well many of the things you've been teaching us so far. I just feel that you taught me so much in this time. All my jackets and coats are neutrals already; I have a nice amount of striped jumpers, and my comfty clothes are all matching :) I'm not so much into white as you are but I definitely love the "neutral foundations theory". You've really changed my game! Thanks!
@@mmpersonalstyling Not at all! Don't think that. I didn't mean it in that way. I just meant that you make things simple and clear for us to follow and fix the concepts in our minds. I'm a teacher, so I know what I'm talking about :)
Thanks for a very helpful video. I would really love it if you could do a video on wide leg trousers for the different body shapes. They are very on trend right now but more importantly I think they are very convenient and can look very nice. Thank you!
The problem with them is that not many people can wear them effectively. in order to counteract the wide leg you need to show a contrast in size around the waistline area. The combination of a smaller waist and wider leg is super flattering but if your waist is quite thick then they make you look broader across the whole frame so there's not many body shapes that can wear them i'm afraid.
Excellent content as always. It would be really interesting to see a video about other base colors than white and beige, and if there is something to consider with for example blue or green and darker colors.
The base colours have to include one lighter colour otherwise your ability to mix and match with ease doesn’t work. As long as you’ve got this lighter colour you can pick any two/three other base colours as long as they mix and match together x
Wonderful advice as always Melissa, I think sometimes we rush out and buy things we have seen on other people and that we like the look of but always you are constantly reiterating to make sure you have all the necessary items and its appropriate to your lifestyle Your advice is invaluable in making choices about what to buy and especially in investment items. Cant wait for the accessories video! Thank you so much for helping me and I hope you have a wonderful holiday. Xx
Thank you for this. I have been gravitating to neutrals in the last few seasons. I’m 77 and live now in South Carolina. But I still look and act more like I’m in my early 60’s. I still care about looking good..
Great video! I love jewelry and accessories and will look forward to learning your best tips and tricks. I have amazing jewelry from all my travels and working overseas. When I travel, I try to buy one pair of earrings and a music CD. I take photos on my journey and when I return, I make a lovely slideshow of my photos backed by the local music. Makes for a lovely souvenir.
Melissa, another very informative video with several aha moments for me! Very informative when you explain what does and does not work. This makes the message is very clear and understandable. I have several striped jumpers… But not V-neck! I have many white jumpers… Now I see they are not duplicates but good for different seasons. I learned something every time. Love your videos.
Lying on a beach watching this looking forward to going home to organise my autumn capsule wardrobe- thanks Melissa for your constant tips and inspo. Have an amazing holiday xx
Have fun Karen. I'll be in Corfu with my husband and 2 sets of friends at the end of the week. Out first holiday without children in 14 years, and I can't wait! Enjoy yours too. x
I like the design of Vivaia Shoes a lot, but … I absolutely don‘t agree with your opinion to sustainability of Vivaia Shoes. Polyester is NOT sustainable. It is NOT possible to recycle very often. Washing these Shoes causes mircoplastic. And in the end: These products let us think, that plastic/polyester isn‘t that bad. But ist is. There is an interesting article on fashionunited, „How sustainable is recycled polyester?“ (Sorry for my bad english)
I love this ❤️ I work from home and after seeing this I can now dress in gym wear with a shirt over the top for the zoom meetings and then after work I’m ready for exercise! If I get the sets I’m ready for leaving the house too ! Love the way you give us real life options for clothes and your style is fab 😍 - just not sure about bottle shoes ? Does the plastic not give you sweaty feet ? 🤣
I really like the cream Varley coat. It could be my casual alternative to a trench coat. Had a bit of a gulp at the price. Love the sporty top too. I like it all but my bank account wouldn’t.
They’re definitely not cheap. I try and strike a balance between offering lower end and higher end high street. If I show too much from the likes of H&M people say the quality isn’t good enough and if I show too much from Reiss and varley etc., people say it’s too expensive so in an attempt to please all I try and include things from all ranges. Unfortunately it looks like you’ve got great taste in picking the higher end items!!!
@@mmpersonalstyling I understand. I’ve seen the comments! I do have expensive taste, but not the budget 😖. I think cheaper mixed with a few quality items is a good compromise though. Expensive dosnt always mean quality and vice versa, but you know that. Some of my most loved and worn items are from places like Sainsbury tu. I have ordered the coat, I think it will really elevate my casual look, as I only have a knee length trench coat.
@@mmpersonalstyling ... I understand about your response ... Striking the Balance, ...however there are surely other options available (?) that aren't H &M ( if some have an aversion to it not having the quality ). Just a thought.... I've often watched Videos, looked at the item(s) , took a Screenshot and use it as Inspiration to find a quality similar look ( or item) that is affordable. I believe in buying quality, so I search out ways to achieve that and within Price Point.
Fabulous as usual. So looking forward to the accessories video. More detailed information about footwear (styles/colours, etc.) to wear with what would be lovely. Just bought some black sock boots so am slowly getting up to speed. Now for the outerwear . . . . 😁
This was so helpful. I thought I was doing well sticking to neutrals but still struggle to put things together and now I know why. I buy long navy, short tan, medium length black! I get it now. Thank you it never occurred to me before.
Another great video Melissa. You put so much work into them and they are always so helpful. It’s good to keep considering lifestyle etc as I sometimes but beautiful clothes and rarely wear them. I keep thinking I’m going to brave the cold more and it never happens!
I will look in your video library but I'd love a whole video just on how to figure out shoes to the trouser/skirt hem length, as well as colors. You're my mid-life crisis clothing therapist as I slowly try to figure out fashion. :-)
I bought shoes from them. The customer service was " very strict". They wanted to know exactly why ,what , how and all those questions before the return. Slow response via email. But it did eventually happen. I'm based in London and it all got sorted eventually. The shoes are Super Duper comfortable.
You are the best stylist I watch. I love that you keep it real and explain that not everything will fit into the viewer's wardrobe or lifestyle. Years ago I would buy something because I liked it on someone else or even just in the store and it didn't fit into my lifestyle at all. Even if it's on sale if it doesn't get worn it's a waste of money and bad for the planet. Can't wait for your accessory video!!!
Melissa, thank for helping me update my wardrobe. I love how you wear your blazers. So sophisticated!! Any recommendations for a petite women with a large bust?
I’ve just a video with a lady like that - episode 3 of the body shape master class. We used a blazer that was slightly too small on her as it’s the only one I had in the studio but everything else worked really well on her. Try that x
Thanks Melissa..Once again a great video full of styling tips for every size and shape. I've just bought a cream v neck jumper and light camel v neck woolly tank top, also cream loafers. (I've gone off black) I'm struggling to find some classic tailored camel trousers though! The Reiss ones are lovely but OOS. Have you seen any others in a size 12? I'm 5'4" and an inverted triangle 🔻 so trying to stay away from the skinny fit trousers! 👖
I like colours as much as neutrals. I often wear a bright top (pink or blue) with a navy cardi and navy (indigo) jeans. What colour shoes and coat should I wear? I'm tall so I don't need to worry about shortening myself. I don't like mixing black and navy.
I was surprised to find how right you are about blazers working for everyone. I purchased a beige blazer you featured in an H&M haul video and have received lots of compliments. It's a longer cut but I'm just over 5'7" so it works for me. I worried that the beige might make my silver gray hair brassy but my foundation pieces help alleviate that. I love your classic and comfy style! Thank you for your videos!
Such great advice! Especially about it being ok to buy 10 tops in the same color but with different functions and fabrications! No wonder I'm having trouble putting outfits together.
I’m glad the Vivaia shoes are working for you. I had extremely high hopes for this brand, but their sizing is not true, and their customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. It ended up costing me a lot of money to return the two pairs I ordered.
Yes the customer service does not have good reviews, neither does the company. (Made in China). I put a web address about up about them but MM keeps deleting the post. I wonder why!
Hello Karen. I haven’t deleted any such message from you, I haven’t even seen it. RUclips delete messages based on key words, negativity, hate words etc. I’m not suggesting that these categories refer to you, but there’s definitely a reason why the message hasn’t made it to me so it might be worth asking RUclips.
Really? I’ve had really good service from them so far so I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t. I would say size down if you’re in between sizes, I certainly did and they fitted well.
Lost everything we owned in a devastating house fire. No one was hurt, thank god! Your channel has been just what I needed. I’m building a cohesive wardrobe thanks to you! You gave me great direction in what to buy!, Thank you sooo much Debra California, USA
Oh my goodness Debra, I can’t imagine what you’ve gone through. Please email me if you’d like you any personal 1:1 advice (no charge obviously, I’d love to offer you my help). Xx
Would love to shop your closet, loved most all of it. Leggings worn in public need the crotch area covered, yours fit well, but most I see make me cringe. Just purchased some tights for my winter knit dresses that are knee length. Hope you cover tights and hosiery with your accessories video.
The crotch area covered? We are in 2023. I wear leggings to walk in every day and would never think I need to cover the crotch - and why? Thin leggings can be an issue but decent ones are perfectly good and at the end of the day are actually exercise wear so you’d never cover the crotch
@@traceybartlam7737 it's because people don't realize when their leggings are too tight or too thin. Why hers fit nicely, yet many make me cringe. Camel toes anyone? 2023 or 1980, an overstuffed sausage is still a bad look.
@@juliemulie1805 “overstuffed sausage” That made me laugh. I know what you mean about when they’re too thin 😳 they need to be a quality fabric too. I have a pair that are thinner than some of my others but they’re a good brand and they are really nice fit and no camel toe! I’ve seen some that are so thin they shouldn’t even be worn indoors 😂
Hiya, you’ve produced a very informative video which I enjoyed very much. Thank you❤ Can you do one for women with an inverted triangular shape. When items with shoulder pads are worn on this particular body shape they can make the top half look manly/broad. Can you do a video on this body type for the mature 50+ woman who wants to remain stylish and not trying to look like mutton dressing up like lamb.✔️💕😍
I've done an inverted triangle on a 49 year old so hopefully that's close enough for you. I think it was episode 4 of the body Shape Master Class series. If you click on my logo then the video tab you'll see all of my videos in date order. I hope that helps. x
Thank you for this!!!!! Fabulous advice! Curious if you have another option for the CUPSHE white half zip sweatshirt because on the US site they only have black. I would love to get the white joggers from Zara if I could find a nice option for the half zip hoodie. Thank you again for all the help!!
Cargo's and straight leg trousers have taken over from chinos but like anything, it depends on what you pair them with. So select tops/jumpers/boots that are fashionable and you'll be able to wear them.
Hi Melissa, I always get stuck on sizing, especially when trying to chose a jacket or jumper. My weight can fluctuate a lot. Do I go for a larger size in a leather jacket for example? I love the look of your leather one, but not sure what size to order. At the moment I would be a size 8 on top, but would I go for a 10 to fit a jumper underneath or go snug, with something light underneath?
Sizing is difficult for 2 reasons; firstly because there’s no standardisation across brands and secondly because each jacket will be cut differently so a size 8 in one jacket will fit you tightly and in the next it will be oversized. The sizing you choose in a leather jacket (in your case) needs to be assessed only by yourself based on what you want to wear underneath. If I know I want to wear it in the autumn then in the uk that means a t shirt or light sweater at best so I’d literally order 2 or 3 sizes online, mock it up and see which one was best. If I wanted it to be worn with a thick jumper I’d find the size that I was comfortable with for all 3 scenarios. Sometimes a jacket won’t do all 3 scenarios (t shirt, light jumper and thick jumper) and you need different jackets for each.
Great video, thank you for sharing! I own the cream vneck dress that you have but in black. I’m a little unsure what footwear to put with it. On the website they show it with tall heeled black boots but I’m wondering if short black boots would work too. Any thoughts?
Thank you. I felt as though I was in a rut with my wardrobe but you have reminded me what I should be looking for. I make most of my clothes but I certainly need more neutrals in my wardrobe. Tomorrow morning I shall make a plan!
Couldn’t agree with you more about Vivaia shoes. I have bought 6 pairs over the last year. When I am not in sandals or athletic shoes they are all I wear.
Last year my capsule was based on black and beige with an emphasis on black jackets of various types. This year I want to branch out into camel and chestnut brown. My biggest challenge is dealing with my menopause middle. Exercise and diet has done nothing to get my waistline back. Suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi there. Have you watched my master classes on how to disguise and dress a stomach? Try these, I think they’re episodes 7,8 and 9. I hope that helps x
I used to think I had a capsule wardrobe because I had a small wardrobe. Now, with your expert advice over the last year or more, I truly have one. Virtually every piece I own can mix and match with all the other pieces. Also, they all fit. It makes it a pleasure to get dressed in the mornings, and shopping is much easier because I have all your rules in my head.
They’re from varley and they’re linked on this board towards the bottom (they’re called ‘let’s move legging’ www.moonsift.com/collection/mm_personal_styling2022/0NGzqGGkf0v7Mp56c1Ea
would it be possible for you to do a low price video? A lot of these are out of my budget. Sorry xx They are stunning though and I know it's hard to find stylish and unusual but cheaper.
Hi there. i often shop in places like Sainsburys and Tescos for clients but my client base on youtube is international so the products have to be accessed internationally and a lot of the cheaper, fast fashion brands either don't sell internationally or their stock moves that quickly that by the time I buy in the products, film, edit and get the video out, 7-14 days can pass and in that time they go out of stock. So i am sorry, as i'd love to be able to offer this. I was thinking of doing an amazon best buys so i'll look into that again and see what I can do...
@@mmpersonalstyling that's fair enough and makes sense. Thanks so much for your reply. Yes an amazon one would be great as that leather jacket is stunning xx
Sure but there’s no reason why you can’t wear horizontal, it’s a myth that they make you look larger. What makes you look larger (if that is your concern) is the wrong neckline and shape. X
Many thanks Melissa for yet another thoroughly enjoyable and informative video. So many people, including myself must have been able to reinvent themselves and that's down to you and your sound advice. Love your style and it is totally me..... or who i will aspire to be... thanks again for the motivation i was desperately needing. Long may it continue..... xx
I really like to see how you match shoes with the various lengths of pants and the width of the pant leg. Tight and shorter pants, showing ankles is best, right? Bigger pant legs, long length to the floor?
Hi Melissa - again a very informative video. Can I just ask what is the ideal length for a blazer in terms of where it should end on your thigh? I’ve just bought one from H&M and it’s lovely but I think it might be too long for me. Thanks x
I can relate to your question! I struggle with blazers , lengths, proportions, etc. Over dresses I find easy but trousers, tops, and blazers are a whole different issue!
Georgina below is totally right. It depends on your height and your body proportions so without seeing you it's hard to answer over the comments box however, what I would say is to trust your gut, I find my clients are usually right and even if you're not, if you don't feel comfortable in it then it's probably the wrong length for you. If I was to give you a generic answer i like mine kicking out around the top of my thighs, any longer and they overwhelm my frame. x
I really struggle to find neutrals that suit me (my colours tend to be cool, dark and bright) other than navy to be able to create a capsule wardrobe. Any advice for those of us that can’t wear beige?
Dear Melissa. Thank you for such another wonderfully helpful video. I bought myself a dark beige/light camel blazer from reiss yesterday with some cream trousers and thought this is the start of my autumn capsule wardrobe to build on. It feels nicer to wear lighter colours too as I feel lifted. Can I possibly ask where the beautiful trench is from that you show in the section at 18.29 please? The link shows one at COS but the one you have has buttons. Thank you again for these helpful videos xxx
I think I showed two in this video, the lighter one in some of the pictures is from Zara and the darker, thicker more structured one is from Sezane. Here's the link for you for US rstyle.me/+oQCVtwIY6wJ2W587MyOs1g or if you need the UK link it's rstyle.me/+UViXe25o_ia-U9bKm9ImKA
@@mmpersonalstyling Hi Melissa. I just went to Sezane in Notting Hill and bought the trench. It’s BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for the recommendation. It’s so well made and the cut is so nice. Joanne x
Love your videos...live in the north of Scotland near a city where most of the major shops have closed down along with department stores like John lewis so this is a great way of seeing clothes. Bought the whistles jumpsuit but no idea what colour of boots or shoes to wear under it for day to day wear..any suggestions??
I have enjoyed each and every video since 2020 and have learned so much from you. The video today is another with so many eye openers. Thank you for all you do and being so generous in sharing you wisdom. Happy to see your subscriber numbers go up. You deserve it and we can all learn from you. Greetings from Germany
One very useful tip I've picked up from your videos,Melissa, is to not be a slave to label size- previously I felt I couldn't possible buy a top in Large because I'm 8-10 but it really works!! So thank you for that.
Wonderful and so helpful as always!!! Love your advice! It would be great if you could do a video on finding the perfect blazer for your shape/ height as I think is something a lot of us struggle with!
It’s a great ideas but people are visual learners so it would mean I’d need 10 models in the studio in order to represent everyone’s shape variations and it’s hard enough getting 1 volunteer let alone 10!
It’s what you wear with them that will make them look dated or not. I’ve still kept a few pairs as they’re great for going into boots for example so I might then wear a long pair of Chucky boots and an oversized sweater. But if I was to wear a tight top with tight skinny’s then it would be very ageing. I hope that helps.
Melissa I love your capsule wardrobe. For three days I went through my clothes. I have decided I look better in more basic items and not a lot of patterns. You look gorgeous in everything.
Thank you. Do remember that i'm in a studio with good lighting and a camera that smooths out my skin - you should see me right now, sitting in my tracksuit answering these comments - I guarantee I don't look like that!!! x
@@mmpersonalstyling Oh I am sure you are still beautiful..good bone structure.. My husband and I used to do hair...u study bone structure, facial shape etc. Thanks for all you do!!! ♡♡♡
Let me start by saying that I have been enjoying your videos immensely. But I think I'm just floundering...I am buying some of the pieces you are recommending but I just don't seem to be looking as awesome as you do. I need help. Must put consultation with Melissa on my Christmas list.
Are you buying the pieces that suit your shape and your lifestyle? Are you looking at the outfit as a whole? It’s never just one item, it’s how they all come together that makes for a stylish look. I would love to help you out! All the details are on my website x
@@mmpersonalstyling I"m probably not buying outfits as a whole. It's almost as if I need to have a picture in front of me to see how I'm supposed to put the outfit together. Thank you for your response, I will contact you on your website. 🙂
Knit dresses are my go-to outfit almost year-round (not in our hot California summers). I look for natural-fiber ones with a fitted bodice, open neckline and fuller skirt. I love them with boots and a blazer for autumn and spring, or a long coat for winter. I wear them a lot at home, then just add the boots and outerwear to go out. They are so comfortable and easy.
Again great tips. I live in a rainy climate and spend my time walking dogs so cannot do light colours on the bottom. So navy or black pants, so making out fits with that limitation difficult in summer and fall.

Great video! Do you mind "staring" (I think that's what you call it) this comment so it stays at the top? I had to scroll down quite a bit on my phone to find it. As more people comment the further down it'll go. Thank you in advance!
Me too!
Thank you!
Thank you for another inspirational styling video Melissa. I can imagine that including all the different links is very time consuming, but I really appreciate it when you include the Australian links too ❤️
Thank you! The seasonal capsule wardrobe planning videos are always so helpful and my favorite videos to watch!
Glad you like them!
I bought thick fleece tights that look like a 20 denier! I'm so exited, now i can wear these nice knitted dresses in autumn without freezing! 🙂
I need to do this!!
The biggest learn I’ve finally come to terms with after finishing my career is to buy for my new much changed lifestyle & not “fantasy” me .
It’s taken me a while to stop buying for who I used to be & it’s been hard lol 😂
Loving your content Thankyou
And hopefully that’ll mean you’ll have a wardrobe full of clothes you can actually wear! Well done, it’s not easy to transition xx 😘
Yes me too..We don’t go very many dressy places so going to only buy for what I really need❤
Good one! I love how you wrote fantasy me! I agree that our style can change and we definitely need to listen to ourselves, our personality and fantasy, how we want to feel and look!❤️
Yes started buying for my real life..retired, don't go to too many exciting events.

'Sounds like you've been through a lot. Thank you for watching and i hope some of it helps you x

Just wanted to say, “Hi!”. I’m a John’s Island girl relocated to eastern Tennessee. We love England. Our first experience was in July. I have autoimmune issues as well. I hope you’re doing well right now.

It’s coming in the next two videos x
I recently had a double mastectomy without a reconstruction after having breast cancer… I’m 36 now and I’m not feeling very confident anymore, also because my hair is still short and my belly is still bloated, so I’m trying to change my wardrobe to feel more beautiful and these tips are really helpful! Even when it looks slightly different on my because of my body type but it helps me look at clothing differently. Thank you ❤
I wish you a speedy recovery. Xx
You fought breast cancer...your body will return to a more normal state..be easy on yourself. I list a ton of hair over a tragic event. I bought a good collagen. I feel like my hair is better than it has been in a long time. A friend of mine had breast cancer...sure was tough times. Hugs to u.
I’m so sorry, I hope you feel better soon, friend🙂
Great advice. Especially for the casual wear. Thank you 💕
What an incredibly helpful video!
I’m on chapter 3 of writing a book and we’re putting a styling academy course online so watch this space for plenty of other ad-ons!
Thank you so much!
Thanks!
That’s lovely to hear, thank you for sharing! I hope I haven’t bored you to death in the process!!!😂😂😂
@@mmpersonalstyling oh that is unfortunate, I really hoped these would suit me….thank you!
Ooooh looking forward to next one 💐 have a great holiday 🔆
Melissa you always give the best advice, thank you.
Thank you so much 😊
I love those shoes they look so comfy, i am all about comfort for my feet these days.

Good for you Lynn, I’m sure you look fantastic xx
Great video! I love jewelry and accessories and will look forward to learning your best tips and tricks. I have amazing jewelry from all my travels and working overseas. Makes for a lovely souvenir.
That's such a lovely idea! The accessories video will be out on Sunday. x
Your videos are quite helpful. My lifestyle has changed and it is difficult to come to terms with it wardrobe wise…corporate to retired.

Thanks for introducing Vivaia. I’ve seen them on other vlogs, and they look amazing!

Hope you're having a great holiday Melissa. Thanks for another great video!
Noted, thank you 🙏
I love this ❤️ I work from home and after seeing this I can now dress in gym wear with a shirt over the top for the zoom meetings and then after work I’m ready for exercise! If I get the sets I’m ready for leaving the house too ! Love the way you give us real life options for clothes and your style is fab 😍 - just not sure about bottle shoes ? Does the plastic not give you sweaty feet ? 🤣
Thank you for watching! They're honestly super comfortable shoes, no feel of plastic anywhere!
Brilliant video as always, thank you❤️
Love your videos and great advice! Wish more of the stores linked had more inclusive sizing.
Fabulous as usual. So looking forward to the accessories video. More detailed information about footwear (styles/colours, etc.) to wear with what would be lovely. Just bought some black sock boots so am slowly getting up to speed. Now for the outerwear . . . . 😁
Super video great work Melissa. Enjoy your holidays xxc
Super helpful. Thanks!
This was so helpful. I thought I was doing well sticking to neutrals but still struggle to put things together and now I know why. I buy long navy, short tan, medium length black! I get it now. Thank you it never occurred to me before.

They are a Chinese company with bad customer service reviews. Id think twice before ordering from them
@@karenthomas4575 They are not a Chinese company, they are based at the UK; their factory is in China.
I bought shoes from them. The customer service was " very strict". They wanted to know exactly why ,what , how and all those questions before the return. Slow response via email. But it did eventually happen. I'm based in London and it all got sorted eventually. The shoes are Super Duper comfortable.
Rothy is a us brand made from water bottles. I love them.
Thank you x
Try a wide leg from Zara x
Brilliant 😊
LOVE your videos
I like colours as much as neutrals. I often wear a bright top (pink or blue) with a navy cardi and navy (indigo) jeans. What colour shoes and coat should I wear? I'm tall so I don't need to worry about shortening myself. I don't like mixing black and navy.
Please don't say white runners!
I'd go for a neutral grey/beige type of coat and shoes, especially for the autumn months...
Oh good. I showed a grey checked one from H&M, that would also go well with your colourings x
The way ur dog rests his head on the arm of the chair is pure gold!! ❤
He's never far away from me - just incase there's any food to be had at any point!!!
Such great advice! Especially about it being ok to buy 10 tops in the same color but with different functions and fabrications! No wonder I'm having trouble putting outfits together.
Hopefully a lightbulb moment for you! Thank you for watching. A new video will be released on Sunday x
Thanks for another great and educational video!! Love your tips! I would like a video where you show a capsule wardrobe for office workers :)
Good idea, I haven’t done a work wardrobe for a long time. Watch this space! X
I found the shoes way too expensive for what they are. I prefer a leather shoe that will last forever.
Lost everything we owned in a devastating house fire. No one was hurt, thank god! Your channel has been just what I needed. I’m building a cohesive wardrobe thanks to you! You gave me great direction in what to buy!,

Bravo! Another excellent video. Thank you!❤
Would love to shop your closet, loved most all of it.
Thank you❤
Can you do one for women with an inverted triangular shape.
I hope that helps. x
I am the person with all the clashing colors in the closet. 😂
I actually love clashing colours and if you do it with confidence and you feel confident then I’d say clash away!!!
Nope, only leather shoes matter! Natural and sustainable😊
Thank you for this!!!!! Fabulous advice! Curious if you have another option for the CUPSHE white half zip sweatshirt because on the US site they only have black. I would love to get the white joggers from Zara if I could find a nice option for the half zip hoodie. Thank you again for all the help!!
Try H&M, or just type in white half zip hoodie into google, I'm sure you'll get lots of results but any plain white hoodie will do the trick. x
Helpful as always. It’s finally clicking with me to keep things tonal, including the shoes.
Great to hear!
Hello, what do you think of chino's? Are they a bit dated now. You don't seem to do these? Many thanks
Cargo's and straight leg trousers have taken over from chinos but like anything, it depends on what you pair them with. So select tops/jumpers/boots that are fashionable and you'll be able to wear them.
Thank you 😊
LOVE this video!!! Thank you! I am looking forward to other similar ones in the future!
Absolutely short back tight ankle boots would work really well with it. x
Thank you. I felt as though I was in a rut with my wardrobe but you have reminded me what I should be looking for. I make most of my clothes but I certainly need more neutrals in my wardrobe. Tomorrow morning I shall make a plan!
I wish I could make my own clothes, that’s an excellent skill to have, well done xx
I definitely need more neutrals in my wardrobe too. Most of mine are gray and navy. Bring on the whites (cream doesn't work with my cool skin tone).
Couldn’t agree with you more about Vivaia shoes. I have bought 6 pairs over the last year. When I am not in sandals or athletic shoes they are all I wear.
Are they comfy and are they true to size?
Very comfy, easy to clean, lightweight, and true to size.
@@mmpersonalstyling No just found you on RUclips. I’ll take a look.
Don't horizontal stripey tops are us look wider? I'm so afraid of emphasizing my apple/inverted triangle shape ...
Concentrate on the neckline and then balancing out the bottom half ie wear the volume on the bottom and you’ll be perfectly fine.
I like what I see🍔🍟🥤
I used to think I had a capsule wardrobe because I had a small wardrobe. Now, with your expert advice over the last year or more, I truly have one. Virtually every piece I own can mix and match with all the other pieces. Also, they all fit. It makes it a pleasure to get dressed in the mornings, and shopping is much easier because I have all your rules in my head.
Wonderful! Super pleased our advice has helped you. x
Hi, can you tell me where the leggings are from in the still of your video please? 😊
I’m new to your channel. I really can’t wear horizontal strips, would vertical still count as a basic?
Sure but there’s no reason why you can’t wear horizontal, it’s a myth that they make you look larger. What makes you look larger (if that is your concern) is the wrong neckline and shape. X
Many thanks Melissa for yet another thoroughly enjoyable and informative video. So many people, including myself must have been able to reinvent themselves and that's down to you and your sound advice. Love your style and it is totally me..... or who i will aspire to be... thanks again for the motivation i was desperately needing. Long may it continue..... xx
That’s a lovely comment to read, thank you for taking the time to write x
I really like to see how you match shoes with the various lengths of pants and the width of the pant leg. Tight and shorter pants, showing ankles is best, right? Bigger pant legs, long length to the floor?
You’re exactly right. I’ll cover it again in another video for you x
Doesn't it depend on how tall you are, and if you have short or long legs?
Yes it does, Georgina, thank you for answering it. x
Try a bright white, that usually works well.
I think that’s the coat that I was going to ask about. I saw the trench coat video, but not sure which one this is.
@@mmpersonalstyling Thank you x
@@mmpersonalstyling Hi Melissa. I just went to Sezane in Notting Hill and bought the trench. It’s BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for the recommendation. It’s so well made and the cut is so nice. Joanne x
Love your videos...live in the north of Scotland near a city where most of the major shops have closed down along with department stores like John lewis so this is a great way of seeing clothes. Bought the whistles jumpsuit but no idea what colour of boots or shoes to wear under it for day to day wear..any suggestions??
Hi Elaine, Can you just confirm which video you are referring to? I can then have a look for you! I am so pleased you are enjoying the channel x
I have enjoyed each and every video since 2020 and have learned so much from you. The video today is another with so many eye openers. Thank you for all you do and being so generous in sharing you wisdom. Happy to see your subscriber numbers go up. You deserve it and we can all learn from you. Greetings from Germany
Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say so x
Is there a certain rough number of pieces you recommended in wardrobe capsule?
Not really, as your wardrobe has to fit your lifestyle. The amount of items in a persons wardrobe might vary depending on their needs.
Melissa where is your fabulous neytral grey beige knitted dress from? With the V neck and voluminous sleeves? ( Start of neutral jumpers section)
It’s linked for you in the description box (uk links) and the first comments box for US links - it’s from H&M.
Always look forward to your videos .Thank you !
Hi couldn’t seem to use your code for the vivaia shoes although I did get a slight discount
I don’t know why that is, you’re the first person to mention it so let me look into it for you.
Hi Melissa what are your views on skinny jeans, yes or a big no? X
Are the boots waterproof?
Which ones? If you're referring to the black sock boots the mine aren't but they do now do a waterproof version of them.
Very cute shoes and boot but there is no way us high instep people could pull them off. Wouldn't even be able to get my foot in.
Love your style - great ideas and tips
Help! I can't do white/cream. I spend 1/2 of my day painting and the other half with my horse. Neutral for me will need to be darks.
Again great tips. I live in a rainy climate and spend my time walking dogs so cannot do light colours on the bottom. So navy or black pants, so making out fits with that limitation difficult in summer and fall.
