I love wearing almost any green with almost any pink, red or burgundy, together, as you do here, usually with white, my favorite. So long as it doesn’t look Christmassy, these two colors complement each other beautifully.
Hello Maria. I dropped back into this video just to say Thank You. I’ve studied many, many capsule wardrobes in “RUclips school”. Though my pieces would be different than yours, your presentation is spot on. Yours is the only one that I screen shot the final layout. Perfect for planning!
Fabulous video!!!! Fall is my favorite season for clothes but I live in Southern California and we’ve just had a severe heatwave for the past two week of temperatures around 114 degrees Fahrenheit, so dressing in sweaters and such is harder here. I do absolutely LOVE the colors this season. They have always been my favorites. So I’ll just have to find clothing for my part of the world to mimic what you’ve shown. I want to go shopping now!!! Lol
Thanks Maria. You are really good at putting together unusual combinations. I like the way you shown them in nature first, and that’s a great way to get inspiration. Lime green and raspberry, who would have thought it, but it looks great.
I also like taking colours from nature, and have been wearing raspberry and cool burgundy recently. I live near the sea so it feels right to use the colours of the water all year, and to watch them changing.
I also got a lot of Polo knit tops and sweaters in the last year, I’m so happy they’re available again. I Googled and Googled them for a year! Also, contrast-color trim, a classic detail which I love. The open V-necklines and collars of Polos are so much more flattering on me, and they look more polished than standard round-neck t-shirts or sweaters, but are just as comfortable. I really like a classic pointed collar on my tops and dresses, etc., they add some angles and sharpness to my somewhat softish jaw area (I’m slim but have an inherited double-chin at any weight).
I like the colors I’m seeing in the shops better than those in Pantone’s selection this year. I’m one of those “Summer” coloring types that find it hard to find the lighter colors I look best in during the Autumn/Winter Season. Not only are the trending colors darker and deeper, but the protein fibers (wools and silk) dominate and usually tend to be dyed either quite dark or clear and strong, neither of which suits me well. I have to compromise a bit, wearing cream instead of white, a mid-blue instead of a pale blue, etc., but try to get the undertone right at least, cool to neutral. Regardless, I adore autumn fashion and am looking forward to getting out my “new” seasonal wardrobe soon (here in California autumn weather begins in late October at the earliest). Thanks for your always-great advice, Maria.
Absolutely loved this video Maria. You give such a good explanation on how to create a capsule wardrobe....love how you get the colours from nature. Although I have cool colouring I will be able to pick out the pinky red and burgundy colours. Would love to see you make a video with all cool colours. x
Another great video Maria- I always look forward to the autumn season as it's my favourite time of year. Really loved your choice of colours, especially the pinky red with the green, I'm going to try that combination myself x thanks very much for all your hard work x x
What a clever idea to take nature's colours as inspiration for a capsule wardrobe. I love that! Autumn colours are my favourites too. I will use your tips to create my autumn wardrobe. Thanks so much for creating such a useful video for us. I feel inspired now to dive into my closet and pull out my clothes for this season!
I bought that beautiful Aspinal of London “Woodland” print silk scarf in burgundy and khaki green last year. It amazes me how much I wore it already, but burgundy and deep greens are always in my autumn/winter wardrobes, it makes sense. The touch of soft white in it is flattering to my lighter coloring, too. In terms of cost per wear, it’s already earned its keep in my wardrobe and of course, I’ll get tons more wear out of it this autumn and winter. Burgundy and khaki/olive green are The Colors of Autumn 2024. What lovely inspiration and palette!
@@k9rescuer934 when i find light weight linen or gauze things that fit well i will often just rely on Rit Dye (with added salt). i don't really have a brand to which i am faithful. last year Walmart had some gauze pants by "Joyspun" marked WAY down in their pajama department. i bought three in a Sickly pale yellow~ now i have dark chocolate, deep aubergine, and khaki colored wide legged pants to mix and match with everything. good luck!
Absolutely loved this Maria - I love cords and I’ve just ordered a grey pair, but at only 5’1” buying trousers is a nightmare! They’re lovely so I’m praying they fit. You look absolutely glowing by the way 😊 xxx
Thank you so much ☺️ Boden, Reiss, Mint Velvet, Whistles and M&S all have petite ranges now. ME+EM come up long though so their trousers might not be for you x
I am so glad you came up on my feed! I have a lot of clothes and I am trying to use accessories to personalize my style. So I feel I need a little help with that. Informative video thank you
I love summer colors and had sewn a complete wardrobe of lined wool heathered pinks, greens and blues. I loved those colors. Then I found out I was a winter. When I started wearing winter jewel tones, (which I’d considered garish) my skin glowed instead of looking muddy. I got compliments from strangers. I gave away all those blazers, skirts, trousers, and dresses that I’d slaved over for says and days. They had done me no favors.
Some of the summer and winter colours cross over. Winter looks better with more contrast so you could still wear some of the summer colours and mix with a bright or a dark for the contrast. But I don’t use seasonal colour analysis as I find it too restrictive 👍
Thank you ☺️ A few of my go tos are J Crew and Nordstrom. Nordstrom stock a lot of these British brands like Reiss. ME+EM have opened a store in New York now too 👍
Hi Maria, could you please do a Spring time version of this. I would love to see what colours you choose. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤

Some beautiful linen dresses and separates in fall colors would be nice. Stores have linen clothes for prices lower than you can buy the linen fabric.

we have less than 30 days a year below 50F/10C; but as a nod to autumn, i choose autumn colors in summer weight fabrics.
Same here, would you mind sharing what brands you rely on? TIA

You look fabulous. I stopped wearing lipstick because my “full lips” left me in my sixties. So lm kind of apprehensive using lovely rich colors.

Fabulous autumn capsule Maria! I would love to know where the silky brown skirt is from as there doesn’t seem to be a link to it. Many thanks x
Thank you - Apologies I missed it I’ve added the link in now - it’s from Poetry 👍
Thanks Maria. May I ask where the long brown skirt is from please? I can't see a link to it in your description. Thanks in advance
