    I once did a few balls at my local range ( first time ) and the guy came out and said Oi no professionals m8.....and watch out because there was an incoming flight from Majorca about to land, so they had to divert all flights for the afternoon because I wouldn't calm down. Best golfer they'd seen in 40 years apparently.

      Appreciate Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Yanaylee Yanrooklyn Magic (Have a quick look on google can't remember the place now)? It is an awesome one off product for unlocking an effective golf swing technique without the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my old buddy Taylor at last got excellent results with it.

    Thanks for the tips Rick. When I'm at the range I take half an hour to play an imaginary 18 hole round of a course I know well. That way, I'm mixing up the clubs and distances as you would in a proper round of golf. You only get one shot at each shot on the course so hitting 3 poor drivers then killing the 4th one counts for nothing in reality. I find recreating that on the range really useful as I used to struggle terribly with my 2nd shot on par 4 and 5's after switching from a wood to an iron. I'd inevitably hit a bad 2nd shot then my 3rd was decent. This practice has helped a lot.

      Great advice, especially about alignment. Perhaps we should make a distinction between range sessions devoted to swing mechanics and sessions that are devoted to playing the game on the course? Years ago, when I was taking lessons, the pro made 2 observations that have stuck with me: The first was simply that if you wanted to learn to play the piano and you only played once a week for only 6 months out of the year and never practiced, how good would you expect to be? In other words, manage my expectations. The second was that at the range, I needed to make 3 perfect practice swings for every ball I hit. Perfect was defined as correctly executing whatever we were working on at the time. Ball flight was less important than correct execution and the multiple practice swings were to break bad habits and develop a new “normal” feel. Every ball to be hit required a full preshot routine, again to build good habits and it should take ~45 minutes to hit about 30 balls, switching clubs between shots. After that many swings, fatigue is an issue and the remainder of the bucket was for short game practice, the little pitches and chips that we all neglect to practice. Nowadays, I mix up my practice sessions, working on mechanics one session, course play another time. If I am prepping to play a round the next day, I spend some time just trying to establish a good swing rhythm and the actually play a mock round, including recovery shots following poor strikes, of which I still make too many!

      The reverse happens to me, I’ll hit a terrible drive, like less than 100 yards then I’ll hit a 4 iron perfect 160 yards down the middle.

      Nice Video clip! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (Sure I saw it on Google)? I've been going to the range without a routine, going to be trying this now. Thank you. Can you do something on reading greens and putting? This has been the most perplexing part of the game for me personally. I'm finally at a point where I think I can hit the distance I want but aiming is a guessing game.

  • @JH-of1xz

    Great advice. My favourite clubs are my wedges. I made the mistake of using all my time hitting from lob wedge including a gap wedge through to 9 iron 3 times per week for about 3 month. Gradually I lost the correct swing plane for my long irons and driver. Causing hooks and low ball flight. So as the man says share the practice out or you could do more damage.

    Good advice Rick, I'm guilty of going to the range and just raking away ball after ball...I'd get frustrated with a bad shot, then immediately rake a ball, and hit again, no target no mechanics, I'd just about spend hours and hours and pallets and pallets of balls and for what? It's honestly hard to have the discipline to not do this...I'm going to work on this...mechanics for a bit, then turn it off, and hit to targets with particular shot shapes that I want and no swing thoughts other than aim (simulate a real golf course experience)...the trick I need to master is after an allotted time, walk away...that's where I get stuck

    Hi. In my experience I find it bit senseless hitting 100 balls with per say a 5 Iron if chances of using same club in a row on course is zero. Driving ranges are as dangerous as they are a good. Faults get grooved just as effectively as proper skills. In not against repitition to train brain. But Im going to go completely unorthodox and against traditional practice methods with my two boys. Here is one tip. I will have them hit different club every shot on range.

      Great advice

    • @MrMark945
      @MrMark945 5 лет назад

      I usually do two shots then switch...one with mechanic thoughts and one with just trying to shape shot of my choice to a target, then go to new club...work up to driver and done...28 balls, saves me time too

    • @MrMark945
      @MrMark945 5 лет назад

      I'll sometimes only bring a sand wedge, an 9 iron, a 7 iron, a hybrid (dont have long irons), and my driver...hit low and high fades, draws, and straight with each to target, then done...get a feel for each style of club, (wedge,short, mid, long irons, and driver)...6 balls each club, 30 balls total...real quick preround warmup

    This is afiliated with a lot of stuff you don't even need. At least the title isn't titled, tips on how to improve your swing, or tips at a driving range, so it does mention that it''s going to show you stuff. It does say tips but in this case, tips could have more than one meaning. meaning tips for having the best setup. Instead of tips for improving your swingggg.

    Sorry, how can you suggest that ball position is x for y club? That is ridiculous, dynamic loft? practicing different shaped shots? ball position is going to move. Just another example of 1 dimensional golf coaching.
