  • This has become one of my top performing 1:24 crawlers. It wasn't always like that. At one point I declared it, "Upgrade Proof". It nearly was.
    The breakthrough happened when I decided to install SCX24 axles. Ever since it has become better with each modification. It still has a lower top speed due to the differential gear ratio but it has an excess of torque to effortlessly carry anything I bolt onto it.
    Edit: Since the video I have added Treal overdrive gears to the front diff and a longer servo horn. I also tapered and tucked back the front bumper. There may be a few other things I have forgotten as well.

    I've recently got back into rc's. Used to be into it back when I was a kid but supporting my family had me put it aside for a while. Anyways recently purchased a mini z from Wolfram and made a little carpet track in an empty spot in the basement. Now I'm kind of looking at a mini crawler. I've been debating between the Enduro and the Axial. I found your channel when I was searching for upgrades for the Enduro and noticed that you have both. I'd appreciate your opinion helping me decide which one to pick up. I don't know how much modifications I want to do maybe just simple and keep the vehicles mostly stock. But who knows maybe down the road I start doing some upgrades. Which one do you like best stock and which one modified? I will probably be building a shelf along a wall around 3 ft by 10 ft with an expandofoam course so you have an idea of where I will be using it. I can get the Enduro for $84 and the axial for $134. It's nice that the Enduro is cheaper but if it's a lesser vehicle I don't mind spending the extra. Your input on which one you have the most fun with and if you had to recommend one vehicle to a buddy that's starting the hobby would be helpful to me. Thanks for all your help.

    • @EXPIOWA

      I recommend the SCX24. Nothing else comes close. You can upgrade it as you have time and money.
      This is where I start with a new truck:

      @@EXPIOWA okay thank you for the reply. That's what I assumed that the axial would be a better vehicle. I'm kind of looking at the Jeep Wrangler version. Is there any difference between the jeep, the deadbolt, and the C10? Is it just a difference in the bodies or is there a vehicle difference and performance difference? Also are the bodies interchangeable between the vehicles? And one last question, maybe I get used to it over time but one thing that kind of bugs me is how the body's tip back and don't just remove. Can that be changed? Can the bodies be mounted with just like a magnetic stealth mount system or something?

      @EXPIOWA  Год назад

      @@cmkpikes I happen to have a video that will explain all of that. It was made before the Gladiator which uses the C10 / Jeep front suspension links and driveshaft but it has very elongated rear suspension links and its own rear driveshaft.
      If there is a topic you would like to know more about search for "EXPIOWA SCX24 (X topic). I probably have a video that will answer any questions you have. This video below will answer most of your questions from your previous reply. 🙂 Thanks for watching.

      @@EXPIOWA great video. Yes it gave me all the information I needed. Looks like other than minor are differences the only thing that really physically stood out to me was it looks like the differential box is a little more towards the front on the deadbolt and more towards center on the Jeep. It looks like you must have used the deadbolt version to make the long wheel base. Is that still possible with the Jeep version? I don't want to feel like if I pick up the Jeep version I'm limited and can't do the long wheel base if I ever want to down the road. Thanks for all your help man.

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  Год назад

      @@cmkpikes Anything is possible. The only question is, what are you going to do to make it happen? 🙂 If you stay in the SCX24 camp everything is swappable.
      As far as the diff box goes, the Enduro24 has plastic ring and pinion gears. They are larger and have less ground clearance.
      The Axial has a worm gear. It has natural drag brake because of that. Its better for crawling.
      The SCEnduro24X has Deadbolt rear links and stock Enduro24 links up front. The pivot balls and screws are different from the Enduro24 to the SCX24.

    Do you mind explaining how you attached the front upper links? I’m doing this now and there is almost no up travel because the links hit the bottom of the motor gearbox

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  2 года назад +1

      Up travel is limited. I shaved most of the servo mount off leaving only the link mount. I shaved that down as much as possible too.
      It still hits the gear housing but does not limit articulation so I figured it would be good. It is. You have seen how it does on rocks. There is no issue. It is just one of the tradeoffs that I had to accept during this build.

      What if you use scx24 gearbox flipped around

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  2 года назад

      @@Roman-go4vq If you use the SCX24 transmission you kill the entire reason for doing the build. In my mind it would no longer be an Enduro24. You would also loose the benefit of the forward mounted motor.
      Uptravel is not really a concern. Articulation travel is what you want and it is mostly retained.

  • @luisLP5752
    @luisLP5752 2 года назад

    I tried doing this mod, but can you get full compression at the front? It seems that the differential housing hits the bottom of the transmission, therefore I cannot get full compression at the front. Is this statement right, or I just didn't do it properly?

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  2 года назад

      I don't get full compression either but it is not necessary. I still get full articulation. Under its own weight it will never go to full compression.

    • @EXPIOWA

      At this point I am keeping it a truck. The body is very light and it is already set up with the magnet mounts.
      It was my first/only Enduro24 and I won't buy another one. They are too much work to make super capable. To me, that is the signature Enduro24 look.

      @@EXPIOWA Thanks for the reply, by the way. I've installed a Reefs 99 Micro. As of last night, I am dialing in alignment of a Deadbolt's front, high clearance lower link, and using this link as the - what do you call it - steering link. Not the long link attaching each knuckle, but the angled bar going into the horn. Well, you're about the only guy posting videos about the Enduro24 and its modded potential. I hope folks catch on to this chassis. My local shop was blowing them out at seventy bucks and I couldn't pass it up. I've loved dialing it in. Cheers.

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  2 года назад

      At $70 it is worth it all day. The reason nobody makes videos is the fact that they are not easy to upgrade, SCX24s are. People go for the easy stuff. I did to but I don't stop there. This layout has a lot of potential.
      It will out perform all but the best SCX24s. On my Rumble channel there is a video of the chassis (no body) climbing at 73 degrees. Nothing else at any scale has done that, that I am aware of.
