We hope so! We both wish there had been more LGBTQ+ content out there when we were younger, so hopefully our interviews will be insightful for everyone!
Love this chapter. I literally had tears. Sharing your stories are like mirrors of most of our gay life stories. Hopefully it will help other generations who are now going thru all these experiences.
Thanks so much, Eric. It was definitely a tearjerker at times. But Roger is a story of how someone facing adversity can pull themselves up and live their best truth in order to help others! We love to see that. :)
This video gave me major heartache ;; Thank you guys, your stories provide a real sense of 'you're not alone' that we just don't see in the Southern US. It means so much more than I know how to explain
I loved that you both opened up so much. Garrett you made me tear up, I’m so sorry you went through that. Raising my kids now I want to learn everything I can about being supportive and not pushing a sexuality on them. I will love and support them anyway and talk about lgbtq 🏳️🌈 so they hopefully aren’t afraid to tell me if they are. Love the channel so far congrats on the launch.
Thank you, Allison! And what an awesome mindset for a mother to have! Times have definitely changed a lot as far as LGBTQ+ visibility in the last few decades, but we can push it even further together! Thanks for being so open-minded, and thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing. Coming out shouldn’t be hard for anyone, sadly there are a lot of young people dealing with hate within their own families. Thank you both to show all that they are not alone.
That's definitely true, and it's heartbreaking at times. All we can do is to spread love and visibility in order to normalize LGBTQ+ relationships and to continue to break the stigmas that exist about the community all over the world.
Hugs.... love the reasons your started this channel. I know I had many challenges getting kicked out of my Parent's home in 1984, facing homelessness and other issues that might not have existed if my Parent's had chosen to accept me instead of throw me away. It took 3 yrs for my Mom to turn around, and another for my Dad, but eventually they rescued me from their mistake, and I'm alive today. May this show bring help to those facing struggles. Hugs and love to you both. xo
Thank you for sharing. We've definitely come a long way as a community, but there are still many young LGBTQ+ people who live in fear everyday--of their own families even, or at least in what their families might do if they ever uncover the truth. While we both typically see parents come around - from personal experience - that isn't always the case. We're glad yours did.
Aww, thank you, Nat. And thanks so much for your help in getting us to this point! We're so excited to share out own stories, and to learn about others' as well.
You guys are going to help so much. Before I came out myself I was looking for coming out videos across RUclips and their stories really helped me, and even now 4 years after telling my parents, your stories are still so touching. Thank you!!!
This almost made me cry. I’m so sorry that happened Garrett. I can’t imagine what that would be like if I were in that position. I’m very glad that you are so confident in yourself and that you try very hard to be a role model to those who look up to you. I have to give you kudos to this because it’s just amazing how you powered through talking about such a hard topic. You’re really going to help a lot of people as I’ve mentioned before. What an influence. Good luck you guys!!! 😊🏳️🌈❤️
Thanks so much, Brian. It means a lot fo know that people look up to me, and hopefully I can just help to inform and educate as well as I can... It's all a learning process for me, too! But we can all learn together!
This is incredible. Not just the video, but the whole concept of the channel. I love how real it all is. You can tell its not just to make money or to get publicity, as many things are these days. It's honest and real. I absolutely love that. I think I am asexual, homoromantic. I might possibly be panromantic though, I'm not sure. I'm only 16 though, so I feel like I'm not old enough to know. I came out to my family about 3 years ago, except I told them I was bisexual. I was afraid they wouldn't understand the concept of asexual. Everyone is okay with it though, I am very grateful for that. I still struggle with internalized homophobia. I always feel like I'm lying to myself and it is a horrible feeling. I hope I can figure it all out soon. I didn't have any exposure to the lgbtq community growing up. I know some lgbtq people now in high school, but I didn't even know what the word gay was until 7th grade. Anyways, that's enough about me. Thank you both so much for doing this. It's an incredible thing that is going to help so many people. Thank you for sharing your stories. You are both amazing people
Wow! You have so much self-awareness and you're so brave for someone who's only 16! Thanks very much for sharing. We do plan on doing videos about asexuality and homoromanticism as well, so please stay tuned. Until then, please know that you definitely aren't alone in any of the confusion or "otherness" that you may feel right now! There are tens of thousands of others who are trying to figure things out more themselves! And you already seem like you are on a great path! We think you'll likely be a leader in the LGBTQ+ community one day!
@@AGayInTheLife Aw, thanks! I'm definitely looking forward to videos about asexuality! I'm really looking forward to following this channel actually. I can't wait to see where it goes! Both of you guys are a real inspiration!

Thank you very much for telling your stories openly! I live in Argentina, I am 19 years old, and my family has a lot of traditions and customs. And I have a hard time having to live making false excuses for when I want to go out with a boy, I have not told anyone in my family yet, only some friends know. Thanks for sharing, Jhon. Yes, many families often think that it's just a "stage" or that it's something people get over. But that is very rarely the case. Hi guys, I'm Andrés from Colombia and I want to tell you that I loved your video. I would like to share my story with you when I came out in a South American country. Peace ✌️!
newbie, googled Garrett after watching the old movie King Cobra (invested in understanding lives of sex workers - seriously - society is soo screwed up on this job/income source - its the abuse, esp the lads of 18 thinking its fame for a quick buck that get me so mad. The YT docu Men for Sale, way old but still so true today and so many other examples. i.e movie Sauvage, Kudos Garrett for your involvement). Hope one day you talk about your part in that movie, also a vid on Prep (see movie Theo&Hugo), or discussion on docu Chemsex..... all movies that show parts of the gay community or sex working/taking risks. We Were Here - www.imdb.com/title/tt1787837/ something lads of today need to see... So impressed with this channel. Love is love - work is work. Life is precious.
Hello! You know, it's hard to say what the best way to come out is. There's no one right way to do it, because everyone's situation is so different... Some people, like Blake, wait to come out until they know they are safe and secure; some people, like Garrett, feel comfortable enough with family and friends to come out to them when they are a bit younger. We think that the best way to do it, no matter what, is on your own terms. Sometimes, it might take you awhile to get to that point. It might take you awhile to figure out how your family is likely to take this news. Some families may not be as open and welcoming as others, and that may encourage you to stay in the closet a bit longer. The bottom line is: make sure that YOU feel comfortable, and that YOU feel safe, and that YOU feel ready when you do come out.
I have a story long story short that my mom knew i liked both guys and girls i kept telling her no i like girls i used to be judgemental call gays the f word but i was scared in reality my mom was the only one accepting cause she knows no matter what im her son still but my dad however to him im no longer his son as he says there are no gays allowed in his family more of that on my channel its under my coming out story
I would like to come out but my mother sent me to therapy because I am “feminine” since I was 8 (now I’m 15) so I don’t know what to do , I don’t want my friends to tell others or to stop talking to me. I want to have a boyfriend but I think I’m not going to be able if my parents don’t know. The say homophobic comments very often 😭 , what can I do ? I don’t want my mother to leave me .
We are fortunate enough to have great relationships with our parents now. There are still a few family members on either side who are a bit iffy about us coming out, but that's not going to stop us from being our true selves! 💕
I'm subscribing to this channel because I know it's for the people being gay but I'm s gay rights supporter and the reasons are that Iove all things shimmery and glittery and sparkly and stuff and I don't know if I'm gay or straight and my mom is saying I'm straight but I love all thing glittery and sparkly and shimmery that's why I don't know if I'm either gay or straight. Amber
I have a friend who swears he stole a pair of Garrett's underwear but we think he's crazy. Especially since he hangs it on his living room wall with a spotlight.
Wow I wish my friend would come out to his family but I would be more happier if I knew who of my nephews are gay. I sister told me I might have more than 1 gay. The only thing I did not like for a gay guy that told me. "I can make you more beautiful". It was offensive because I'm a woman.
im glad yall are gay but it shoking because i have been a fan seens 3 days of garret and so i just wached teen beach movie a couple days go so shoking but congrates
I just wanted to hug you both. Especially when Garrett started to cry. ❤

Glad you enjoyed it
question, if you were me (an eleven year old boy) how would you come out as gay because i have no clue?

Garrett is so sweet and beautiful.
Wow! Wonderful that your mother was always so accepting. Sorry to hear about your dad.
@@AGayInTheLife ugh you have no idea ever since i came out and my mom accepted me it felt like a relief of weight ton off my chest

I love you Bub and Blakey xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
I never thought Tanner was gay but your still cool
Thanks! Haha! Tanner may not be gay, but I definitely am! 🤪
may I ask, how are your relationships with your parents/sibblings today? hugs from UK
We are fortunate enough to have great relationships with our parents now. There are still a few family members on either side who are a bit iffy about us coming out, but that's not going to stop us from being our true selves! 💕
I think that when you tell family or friends that you are gay their reaction says a lot about them and their prejudices or not
SURF SURF CRAZYYY TEEN BEACH
I'm subscribing to this channel because I know it's for the people being gay but I'm s gay rights supporter and the reasons are that Iove all things shimmery and glittery and sparkly and stuff and I don't know if I'm gay or straight and my mom is saying I'm straight but I love all thing glittery and sparkly and shimmery that's why I don't know if I'm either gay or straight. I have a friend who swears he stole a pair of Garrett's underwear but we think he's crazy. Especially since he hangs it on his living room wall with a spotlight.
Uhhhhhhh... LOL
Ukrane with you! Thank you for you support!
Wow I wish my friend would come out to his family but I would be more happier if I knew who of my nephews are gay. I sister told me I might have more than 1 gay. The only thing I did not like for a gay guy that told me. "I can make you more beautiful". It was offensive because I'm a woman.
He kind of looks like zac efron but way hotter.
;) ;) ;)
Aww I'm sorry for him he cried by Abby:)

Something tells me Clayton that the act of actually "coming out" was probably not really necessary.
