Here are my own personal thoughts and opinions I would like to add to the mix, having played since the horrible launch back in 2018.
Content-wise, the original pre-Wastelanders MSQ is actually pretty enjoyable and fun to go through, having done it four times I always had a lot of fun. I've even met people who say that it is one of the best environmental storytelling they have seen in games. Wastelanders was well received for obvious reasons, and the Brotherhood updates - Steel Dawn and Reign - I found to be better than I'd thought they'd be.
However, being an online multiplayer game, 76's true strength should lie within the multiplayer aspect of the game - the events, bosses, online modes like DO and Expeditions. It is mixed. The community itself is one of the best I have been a part of, everyone is chill and casual, and I have met many friends on it that I thought I never would, and more so when I interact with the streamers. Daily Ops has gotten to the point where I need to turn my brain off to do. But Expeditions I particularly love as it is 76's version of dungeons from MMOs; going through a map to do some objectives and can be quite challenging if done solo, I love Expeditions or at least its concept and would like to see more modes and maps added to it in the future, the only downside I can have for it is the exhausting grind for Stamps and the lack of an actual boss near the end.
Never spent a penny of Fallout 1st and other than micro-managing my stash I never had an issue, so that is entirely optional. Do I see the benefits? Yes, but having quit WoW last year, I don't want to get into a another subscription-based game for a long time.
In all, 76 is a game meant for fun to be had playing with other people at your own pace, and it does well; I have seen new players stream it on Twitch and they end up having fun, some of whom gave it another shot after playing it at launch. IMO it needs more multiplayer content, thus that's why I want Expeditions to be expanded upon like I said previously. I would like a new story update, but unless it ends in a multiplayer boss fight like the vanilla and Lying Lowe questlines did, a story update will only keep people playing until they power through and rush it then stop for the next story update afterwards, which considering the track record will take another 1-2 years to implement. Is 76 worth trying? Definitely, but only if you've been wanting to play it for a while now or if you saw it was on sale. Otherwise, play a different game, no point wasting money, time, and effort in a game for more than 2+ hours only to complain; I have done it a few times and it doesn't feel good.
TLDR: On a scale of 1-10, how much do you want to play/try Fallout 76?
    8+: Play it
7: Wait until it's on sale, it drops down to $10 and honestly that can be a steal whether it be 76 or not
    6-: Don't bother

Living in NZ I see a lot of Japanese players on the servers I hit. I started playing a week before the removal of legacy weapons, the before and after of that was genuinely great. The legacy weapons would turn Boss events into second long affairs for one player, now you get to see everyone in the server fighting together to take on the same boss. It's fun to have those dynamic multiplayer moments in a game that's very solitary.

The way the game is now is the way it should’ve released. It is more worth it if you’re more of a single player kind of person. More quest lines, dailies, events etc. that you can do by yourself. Launching nukes is fun as that triggers big boss events. Other then that quite a few bugs and glitches are still there which is annoying.

I've been playing since beta, between my two accounts I have over 4,000 hours ( I'm retired so I have tons of time) I think part of the Love of the Game for me was being there from the beginning and going through all the problems ,I liked playing before Wasteland and with the addition of wasteland it made the experience even greater, but I don't think it would have loved it as much if I didn't get to experience 76 with no NPCs to me the whole experience paints a beautiful picture starting out with nobody alive and then people of Appalachia coming back a few years later. My favorite aspect I think though is building. And I really miss nuclear winter I wish they would bring that back getting rid of it was a huge mistake. Their biggest problem with it was they didn't keep up with it they could have refreshed it newer Maps and rewards . Was totally disappointed with the pit personally there was nothing in there I even wanted that was worth all the grinding. Hopefully they do some more work on it in the future. For me personally I'll be playing this game until it stopped getting updated hopefully by then start field will be out. But if asked I would totally recommend picking up and playing 76.

  • @rko218932
    @rko218932 Год назад +32

I think that they had a missed opportunity with the vaults for long term story telling. Rushing them with the ill-fated vault raids and nuclear winter kind of ruined at least 3 of the 4 other vaults in 76 (94, 51, one other I think but can't remember) that could have been utilized somewhat more how 79 and 96 were introduced through storyline content. At least there's still 63. They've run out of map space, and I'm not super into the idea of completely reworking an area. But that's just me.

Good video UF. I appreciate the obvious effort you put into them.
I have played a few thousand hours, and most enjoy starting new characters, playing solo in a FO1 private world. The challenge is to complete as much as possible solo, from story quests, events, daily ops, expeditions, to end game bosses while collecting and building the best weapons and armor I can. Camp building, decorations, skins, etc leave me bored, although I can appreciate the results of those who pump many hours into it. My favorite multiplayer event is Eviction Notice, especially when only a few players show up. Let's have more like that. Ashes to Fire is fun, and I look forward to it more in Season 13. By contrast I found Nuka World on Tour to be silly, and the Titan to be boring, just not difficult enough. I'm playing a new game of Skyrim now, waiting for Starfield, and dropping into 76 once in a while. The Season 13 scoreboard is a disaster for me, not going to bother. How could BGS get me back into FO76. We need a new meta, shake up the power distribution. Add weapons and armor with both strong positive and negative effects. Give us a reason to replay the quests and events by changing (dramatically) the loot pool. Add new perks, and maybe remove some existing ones. Shake it up! So, that's my 2p.

I've been seeing some interesting power armor skins or paints whatever you want to call them. It'd be pretty interesting if they would make a power armor that was designed to be less noticeable. You know like how we hide our big tanks during war in the trees by putting camo netting on them? I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been a thing I mean people wear ghillie suits why not power armor? I mean even if you look at world war II German vehicles especially, they had all kinds of bushes and shrubs and bits of trees tied on to their tanks. Or if you want to freak people out combine that with some animal skulls and tree branches and you'll look like a monster. Just a thought Bethesda.

Got Fallout 76 when it was offered free (via Prime I think?). I loved Fallout 3 and 4 along with related DLC, mods, etc., but hadn't played any Fallout for some time. I've been having a lot of fun with it. Feels like playing Fallout 4 but with some fun multi-player content. I like being able to play with a friend. What is an open question in my mind is whether this is a game I'll play for years like I have with others, or whether I'll feel after maybe 6 months that I've done all the quests and I lose interest in doing the repeatable quests. I guess that will depend on what they keep adding to the game. The recent "Nuka Cola World on Tour" update was great, I thought. I've enjoyed it enough that I decided to reward them by subscribing to Fallout 1st.

Simple things like not being able to use a chemistry bench because the game just says “yea no”, broken power armor animations, having your camp snapped out of existence by Thanos himself because it’s “overlapping” with another camp when you log in, fps dropping down to less than 10 when there are more than 5 enemies on screen, painfully bad enemy and npc AI, the list goes on. All these things should tell you whether or not it’s a playable game

These sound like QoL not game breaking. Any problem I've ever had has been fixed with a restart and log back in. A bug is only game breaking if it makes you unable to actually move forward and or corrupts and breaks your game. You're being a bit hyperbolic. I can definitely see those things being frustrating but I've never seen that as game breaking. It's part of code. Things get wonky. In my thirty years of gaming I've never played a game that didn't have something frustrating in its design. I'm wondering what miracle games you've played that gave you this standard.
Oh and you're camp not being there when someone else's is there isn't a bug. That's how it works? How do you want it to work? To delete it entirely? To merge your camps together? Your way of describing it was funny. But you're still kinda exaggerating the game breaking nature of the bugs. Take a deep breath my guy. Learn to release that stress. You can't be getting so mad about a button not working or a line of code not working. Just hit restart. Take a breath. It ain't that big of a deal.

I have won almost all the Nuka World rewards... except for the recipes and a few items.. ... so it keeps me motivated to grind them all and then sell the recipes and plans :D.. Fallout 76 faces a crisis of identity that is killing it slowly. It struggles to be a fallout story for the same reason it struggles to be an mmo. The story cannot progress while it tries to follow a traditional fallout where you can make a new character and play the story from launch to current with little crossover this allows a “traditional” play though however this locks each content into stand alone chapters and deadens the feel of an evolving story, they need to embrace fomo to the level of the core story so if you didn’t play that update you missed that story, crater bos and foundation should have a ton of dialogue about the refugee and they should all have dialogue and presence at nuka world blue ridge needs expanded he’ll even union could be added to grafton steel for more storyline and changing Appalachia. they have all the elements to make a great story expansion they’re just held back back hamstringing the story for potential new players

When I read player feedback for 76, I see a lot of common requests and complaints: currency (especially scrip) limits are too low, legacy weapons suck the fun out of events, camp building has needless extra steps, the fast travel bug is annoying, damn this lag, etc., things of that nature. Nobody asks about what happened to Shin, and that's a huge loose thread in the story. I've literally watched players stream while simultaneously demanding more story content and skipping through story content they've seen before. I hope that if they do waste a lot of time and money on story, that it's right at the end of 76 and a huge bummer ending where everybody dies. That would help explain why the east is so backward in 3 and 4, too. My vision is that the 76ers themselves make Appalachia, a potential cradle of civilisation, completely uninhabitable due to their addiction to nuka grenades and orbital strikes. And then Shen dies onscreen in a cannibal attack because I hate that guy.

lol "A huge bummer ending where everybody dies.... My vision is that the 76ers themselves make Appalachia, a potential cradle of civilisation, completely uninhabitable due to their addiction to nuka grenades and orbital strikes" -- Reminds me of the only thoughtful, thorough, even-handed video critique of the game I've ever seen. (And absolutely adore, btw.) The author was pondering the story's "moral dilemma" turned repeatable mechanic/activity players are presented with, resulting in their "characters" setting off nukes every few hours, if not minutes, in this game.
"Fallout 76's moral dilemma here is like that of a 10-year old child. 'Sure. It's supposed to be bad to set off fireworks in the house. But what if it's really cool and everything turns out okay? Maybe, Mom and Dad are exaggerating just how bad the fireworks in the house situation will be.'"

If you enjoyed exploration, investigation of different locations, hidden quests, constructing your own build in Fallout 4 - you can check it out. If you are not sure about purchase, check Fallout 4, because all mechanics are extremely similar and if you enjoy it - buy 76.
As a new player can say that I have small problems, like freezes for 1-2 seconds every several minutes, but they are not critical and my friend even does not have any problems. Game has a smooth progression of difficulty and I can say that game allows you to play it both as singleplayer and as multiplayer. I encountered players only when I wanted to participate in the multiplayer events and because of that your experience will totally differ. Map is huge, death penalty is extremely small (just dropping the loot you found in the last expedition, but you can get it back almost instantly), density of interesting locations and things to discover is awesome.
Original Fallout 4 had 2 abstract regimes of your gameplay - with and without power armor. 76 introduced new one with mutations (not sure, but don't remember that in previous parts). Because of that you are able to get 3 completely different experiences from the game. Still, I am 60 hours in the game and can say that for me there is still a content to discover till 100 hours threshold, but even from my perspective I can see lack of endgame content and because of that only fallout fans will stay longer.
If you're fan of Bethesda Fallouts - check it out. Like exploration, craft and gameplay experiments - check it out. Want a game that is able to take 100 hours - check it out. My advice, check it via either Game Pass or buy with a discount.

This game is almost the perfect example of quality vs quantity. I was asking myself “is this game was worth coming back to”? Not even 5 minutes in and it’s a hard no lmao. Got reminded of all the lack luster voice acting and the story. You also got to love the very obvious cash grab that the game is in general.

I love it now but definitely wish for more classic fallout stuff like outfits and guns but it’s really had a glow up I just jump on for some simple mindless fun

Nuka World On Tour... problem... events do NOT give Legendary Cores. That means no funds for rolling legendaries yourself. Must fix!!! I started a new alt toon. Ran out of Cores very fast. With the # of Nuka events, that then takes away Cores from new players to use and they will have a much harder time making their +100 lvl armor needed to compete.

Weirdly I was just thinking this today. Need easier ways to get the cores.

I personally love this game, having a fallout to play with my friends has been some of the best times on Xbox for me, I hope they continue making it even better and adding alot more content, especially since we aren't seeing another fallout game for a while with the other titles the developers are working on currently.

The game has consistently improved over the years, im really enjoying the new Nuka world events and as always the C.A.M.P building feature is my favourite. All in all well worth a play. Great promo vid Uranium fever, nice one.

Yes mate! You are pretty unique as this is a first Fallout title. Nothing to compare it to! But the ability to show camps to other players in person is a big plus point I think. Thanks for checking the video mate!

@@forridersofsatan Not very well, the game had no audio on my PC for some reason (think it was a glitch?). Played Fallout New Vegas and 4, as those didn’t have that strange audio glitch.
