Basic cost breakdown in rough $'s. (Numbers based on rough percentages of $200,000.) (Feel free to check my math.)
Site Prep: $32,000.
Foundation, Framing, Trusses, Windows and Roof metal: $74,000.
Garage Doors: $22,000.
Exterior Metal: $6,000.
Concrete Pad: $30,000.
Interior Metal and Trim: $18,000.
Metal Ceiling: $18,000.
Insulation: $14,000.
Electrical: $16,000. Ish.
I ran the numbers, too - they check with yours. Adds up to $230,000. Overall, I think the metal packages may be off -- seems too much for exterieor to be $6k and each of the interior metals to be $18k each.
As much as the results speak for themselves, it is your energy, passion and everything positive that radiates from you and your presentation! It's CONTAGIOUS! 👍👍👍
I haven’t watched this channel
In a long time. It has come a long ways since.. you are doing big things and I like it!
Building looks phenomenal. Great job building it. Can't wait till you get the CO and start building epic trucks in the new space.
That black ceiling is awesome, it made a somewhat plain garage look like a million dollar showroom.
That was a great idea and is 100% the same thing I’ll be doing with mine as well
I can’t believe I never thought of that
God Bless All
Epic shop build! Congratulations! I know you're excited to be soooo close to complete!
The shop is almost complete!!! It looks amazing!
Humble beginnings, even more humble now, keep up the hard work... Been a viewer since you gave away your 2015 diesel...
you have built a BEAUTIFUL garage that at your young age, will be an amazing asset in your life for the next 20 years! doing what you did is exactly how very successful businessmen build their empires. i have a car collection and a lot of other "stuff" and i have been pricing buildings of similar size and configuration as yours. in my area (Pittsburgh, PA) steel frame buildings are the most cost-effective for quality construction and long-life. i would full expect pricing to be very similar to what you found. your overall video was very well done and informative with lots of very accurate information. i am a retired attorney and your video is the kind of "presentation" that i engaged business clients with when they came to my office with a "commercial development" proposal. best of luck to you and thank you again for a top-notch and valuable presentation. Jim Coster, Pittsburgh, PA.
Going witha 60x80 also so thanks for taking the time to share this.. Nice set up hope its a good one
Built a 30x60 with 9’ ceilings, concrete, electric, insulated, doors for 21k finished. $1k for site prep, 13k for the building, 5k for concrete, 1k for the doors, 1k for electric. In 2001.
Lol very different times...
I started reading this and thought you were insane then saw the date you did it.
Take 21K and add 100K. That's today's money.
In 2001 lol
Lets go Brandon!!! Our gov is trying to break us to the point of submission!
Shewww buddy those pole buildings are beautiful. I built my 60x40 steel building for $50k 10 years ago. Did the dirt work ourselves and “wrote checks” for the concrete, material and erection.
great video. i built a me a big 10x16 shed summer of '20 all hands on by myself. the only thing I didn't do was the roll up door. using and working in it today I see little things I missed and definitely a kick in the shin that I didn't pay more attention and measure twice and cut once kind of deal. no one understands in general the "costs" incurred by outside contractors that go into their quote for you. and in general the customer thinks the contractor is ripping them a new one. I work in the ag industry. there are costs that no one sees except the top guy, even though I see most of the invoices for my products at my warehouse. Doing something like this definitely opens your eyes to the "costs" involved in the intangible things as you mentioned. its like what a friend told me - use what you have learned to go and learn some more. build on what you know.
Super proud of you Jack, 👏 love the building and for you, the perfect colors 👌 😀 ❤.
Can't wait to see the full on summer finishes, tree's? Garden's? Grass? Stone walk ways, it is going to look epic!
Again you did a great job, l thank you for being so up front and thorough with regards to choices and cost. I hope you continue to grow, to your abilities and likes. I would be honored to win and drive one of your creations.
Thanks bro.😎👍✌🏻❄ 🇨🇦 👋.
21:30 explaining a business and how it works to a customer is one of the hardest things to do as a young service technician/ laborer. Once you get that down it makes sales easier and repairs/ projects easier
Professional services = professional prices
Great info and congrats on the shop! Looking real nice 🤘
Always enjoy watching happy holidays to you and your family
Great video, really appreciate this information. You’re not a brag kinda guy so when you share pertinent information like this no one thinks anything but, “thank you”.
Thanks for the insight gives me a good ball park idea for when I build my shop/house!
Glad to find this channel! Planning to build a 60x80 later this spring with an apartment in the back.
Researching building a shop/house. This really helps, thank you for the info!
Thanks for this video! It makes a dream that could be just a dream, oh so much more within reach! As always thanks for the video!!! Happy Thanksgiving to you for family, and I didn’t forget about you either Jake!
Im building mine this coming year, but im a contractor so for me its all about material costs and my own labor for my crew. But aside from that I'll save way more then most. I only waited due to the lumber price skyrocketing.
OMG 😳 THAT SHOP LOOKS 👀 LIKE A BLAST 💥 THE OFFICE ITS KILLER THE BARN DOOR GIVE THE COUNTRY NICE LOOK! ENJOY 👍👏 A HUGE FAN FROM PUERTO RICO 🇵🇷!
I am entered in Lone Star. I used to enter multiple other giveaways up in Connecticut and one in PA and one in Utah but after seeing the quality of the build you did on convict and now with Lonestar I'm only going to enter all of enthuzst. the others just don't compare and seeing how genuine you were at the convict delivery it's a no-brainer for me you get my support 150%
I'm waiting to enter for the chance to get that can am 😏
So LGND and 80Eighty lol.
@@aceman1887 no comment 😂
I just built a 50x80 and poured a 30 foot parking pad in front. I have 1 ton trucks and it gives you u enough room to walk around/wash your truck. You should reconsider the 20 foot pad. Would love to show you my shop. Chris
The shop is amazing looking the paint color’s are a really good looking combination !
Just so you know 60x80 is big but no mater how ever big you built it you will fill it up and wish you built it bigger 😂😅🤣
Thank you for taking the time to post
Holey smokes, it's coming rite along I see.
THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR GAME!!!!!!
looks great bud!
Great breakdown on cost.a real eye opener.i live near reinholds and would like to come see it for some ideas on my new shop
Need this for my JDM classics!
Awesome video Jack!
Wow… i just ran my numbers for the shop i’m “facilitating” myself as well and it’s dead on with yours except i’m 37% for all lumber/metal/trim. No interior siding. $75,000 for a 48Wx52Lx16H
I want that shop 😍💯
Nicely done video. Thanks for the level of detail. One question, the concrete was a flat pad with no "beams" with fiber and rebar. Did you consider a 4' with "beams" and the fiber and rebar or was that a requirement where you live?
Nice man that’s bad ass shop thank you for the video I learned a lot in this video thank you hope ur thanksgiving was great
Great breakdown -graduating senior architecture student
built a 40x60x16 in 2015, total cost 48k in California including permits, 5.5" slab, engineered footings, erection, etc. this included reflectix insulation inside and two 13' rollup mandoors on the gable end. It's now twice that for another one. The building kit was $22k then and it's now almost 45k.
I live in Santa Clarita. The outskirts of La. I want something around hat size and already have the amount saved you spent on yours. But you think prices will ever go back to that ?

love these educational videos like these
Wow! That’s a great looking building. Plenty of space!
Thanks for that breakdown I took the opportunity to have a math class with my 9yr old son. At 28’ have you given any consideration to a lightning rod system? Love the interior color scheme.
Beautiful building jack, your are an awesome person and would like to meet you one day. Keep on keeping on brother 👍
I remember the beginning but it looks really great hard work pays off
Dream shop building right there... I've just started my 40x88 (building footprint limited by geologic factors) it'll have to do.
Good for you man! Looks awesome! What does this mans do for a living? Being able to give away 20 expensive trucks and building a massive barn?
We really enjoyed your video and your garage looks super nice. We like that you reveal the cost. Give us a idea what We’re going to have to save to be able to build something similar in high priced 2022
It’s crazy to see the shop almost done
20k for 200amp service? WOW! I did my own home remodel back in 2012 and upgraded every piece of electrical and spent 1k in material. Seems I saved a ton DIYing that part in labor. In Texas, you don't need permits to do things in the county. I had an inspector come by afterwards and he passed it.
big amount of that cost could have been install from the local util.
I'm mid-way on a 400amp on a new shop and the util is eating all trenching costs. still looking at 12k to get panels and basics in and set. by the time I'm done with lights, phase converter for 3 phase and the additional circuits it'll be right about 20k.
wire that was $2/ft is now $4-6/ft
@@Tongboy That's insane! Luckily for me I already had the existing electrical pole to feed the house. I never factored that into the cost and I'm sure my cost would have been much higher if I needed brand new service if nothing was there to begin with.
Since early to mid 2020 copper went way up. 20k sounds right if the service is being brought to the bldg and all the other inside stuff/electricians.
Great vid! Was the pole barn itself a kit or was it just a set of plans and you purchased all the materials?
Great Job! Do you have pictures of your wall framing? What did you do for wind bracing in the corners/roof. I'm building a 100x50 18' Tall
Well I just put in all the money right now to get me a new jacket because my old one has a 8 inch hole in the arm. But I really could use that truck because my 93 Chevy k1500 has the frame rusted bad. Here’s hoping for a life changing miracle
What Gage sheathing are you using what psi concrete did you use also what is the wind load on the building all very important questions that make a big difference also Snow load
Man that shop looks so good. I’ll have it one day
Nice vid. Just a note: a creature of comfort is not a thing that brings comfort. It's a person who like comfort ;)
Great breakout! A lot of people forget that everyplace is different & that may be why their own costs are not equal to what they see on YT.
On a related note, looking forward to your video on how you finish the floor & then the lifts/layout.
Great video! Very informative!
Craziest thing is if you would have uploaded a video like this a year ago I wouldn't have understood anything you were saying but this year I started working for 84 lumber and I understood 100% what you were saying 😂
Great structure. Thanks for sharing.
I love that building but I would have done fireproof concrete siding and infloor heating and ductless mini splits but my real question is how did you finance the building??? Do tell!!
18:05 You may think that, but a white interior makes a big difference.
GREAT JOB N VIDEO!!! YOU ARE BLESSED!!! ❤
I entered to the lone star and I’m super duper excited on the giveaway and the building to be 100% complete. Jack you sir are an inspiration to all of us.
I can't wait to build one!
Make a video of you buying all the tools and tool boxes and completely setting up the building with boxes and shelves
Nice, I am planning a 30x60 summer of 2022. This was very informative. I’m in the same area of PA so hopefully I see similar cost structure. I came to the same conclusion about DIY. What’s the relationship with ENTHUZST?
Great video. I'm finishing up a DIY on a similar 50x80x20 Steel building (documented on my channel). This is all great info for anyone looking to build.
Given the cost of the building as a garage would you consider doing a post frame as a home?
Quick question??? So I was just wondering what's up with the giveaway. Just made a purchase and received 1050 entry tickets, says 14 days left to enter. Just looked after I purchased and it says on the giveaway official rules the cut-off date was 2 days ago 12-19-21. Why does it say 14 days left to enter if the cut-off date was on the 19th? Thank you for your time! Hope I'm in the drawing for this badass truck!
So since your almost done with the building does that mean you don’t need anything at kosers?
This helped me a lot Thankyou
Nothing like hiring Jason to deliver the jeep man pretty cool to see on his channel
You plan on pouring the driveway or just want to leave it gravel?
As I see it, you have a total of about 114%-117% with the percentages you gave. A fair bit of rounding error at about 2.25% per item listed.
Someday I want to do something similar.
I got 10 wooded acres I need to start working to get ready to build on.
While I'm doing that I can stash away money like crazy.
Does anybody ever realize how professionally jack talks all the time?
He’s educated, used to be a corporate dude.
Someone doesn't have a gag reflex...
Just wondering jack if you ever thought about making more longer vids
Excellent information!
First video I’ve watched of yours and holy crap, you sound just like Stradman!
As high as metal and lumber are right now I wouldn't build anything unless i absolutely needed the space. Is the 29 gauge metal?
Very good video I am currently working on building quotes right now for a 30 x 50. I live up near Cabela’s in Hamburg and debating erecting the building myself as well versus the cost of the contractors. Where did you get your building kit? I’ve also been torn on metal colors but I love the black ceiling and galvanized wall idea!!
I just finished a 50x100 steel building I put it together all by myself. Only thing I had done was the concrete. You will need two guys for the frame and 3-4 for the roof. I will update my channel with some videos.
What are you referring to when you mention masonry, you have a few times. I don’t see any? Probably speaking to the concrete finishing?
Awesome building. Putting one up in Southern MD soon. Doing the site work and pad prep myself so hoping to save quite a bit there.
I had to put off my lake veiw home
Prices shot up extra 20 to 30,000 dollars
My building 30x50x12,,,,concrete and finishing was my biggest expense
great video. Very informative. I do construction management for a living. But not sure I'd tackle a project like this myself. Shocking to see how much the costs have increased. Can I ask where this is at, approximately?
He mentioned that it’s in the Susquehanna Valley in PA.
were did you get your lumber pakage?
Thanks for sharing this! Ran the numbers and thought that all metal packages combined were $42,000. Seems high -- probably double counting somewhere, no? Anyway, thank you again!
Dude, that was really good info. Very good analysis, very good. I am in the planning and prep stages for my build. Hopefully when I'm ready the material expenses will have dropped but they could never drop too. But, I will be doing a lot of it diy (is the plan).
I really like that color scheme.
Other than adding to the enormous expense, why not radiant heat in the slab?
If you add car lifts, fixed cranes and other machinery you need to drill into the slab. It would ruin the radiant loops.
@@erickliem5424 It sounds like cost was his major concern. I would think, for the benefit of radiant heat (at least for me anyway) that one could plan for their locations. However for me, honestly, that’s a challenge. I never really want to be fixed for anything if possible. So, I know what you mean - pre-planning everything’s location is difficult.
Nice shop Jack!
Is the black you went with satin or gloss black metal?
great video. keep them coming...
Very informative video Thankyou

THANKS FOR WATCHING
Installed a white metal ceiling for a friend went back a year later and the whole thing was rusted heavily he was heating it with propane so be aware of that.
Looks good. what colors are those
So much more practical than the >$250K for Matt Cremona's smaller Minnestota 40x70 pole Barn with much more of his labor and involvement and outsourcing too. Ideal size if you have any acrearge at all. Depending on biz ideas the mortgage is much better than the rent elsewhere. But space can always get an income, when done right over $4 million in 5K sq ft if you mfg and market. I know a few who do that.
thanks for all this info
Great building, I would want a loft, so much unused space.
I want a building similar to yours but I don’t think I can do wood construction here in Texas because of the wind and building codes
Building one right now, how come you didn't go with red steel?
Those numbers definitely help me decide on what size of pole building & features I want. Good looking building you got Jack! Have always wanted smallish shop my self but, can't decide when to build it? I'm hoping a 20x30 or close to that will cost a lot less
30x40 was around 45k with 6" pad not including electric
@@thatblack6.7cummins Was that before prices went up or after they went up?
@@chrisrigsby8935 after the prices went up im gonna hold off and hopefully they go back down
Usually contractor bid projects are cost of material x2.
