    So glad I found your channel a few weeks ago, very informative and easy to understand content so much so that you guys are our #1 choice once we are ready to purchase. This garage is the size we want, just have to see if it will be possible on my lot. I have been questioning the height because we want to build a loft for additional storage. Would this be something that can be built by you guys as well? Our house is a two story so seeing a tall garage next to it might not seem too out of place. Can't wait to have this in my back yard.

      Hey Adam, I am glad our channel has provided you value and is helping you in your journey for your future garage!
      For lofts/mezzanines, we only offer it in our red iron product line. For height, I recommend minimum 16 ft tall to the eaves. Hope this helps!

    I think it would be a good comparison if you did something like a 50x60 comparison of Tubular vs Red Iron. A 50x60 tubular building is now on the commercial side and is a stronger structure because your adding additional side beams to hold up the structure

    Great content. I enjoy your videos. I dig the transparency on a tough topic - $. Is some sort of concrete piering included with these prices since no pad is included? I see light gauge buildings all the time without pads because they sit on a rail. Red iron would be tougher - gotta have something - a weld plate, a sunk post?

    • @wolfsteelbuildings
      @wolfsteelbuildings  4 месяца назад +3

      Thank you for the feedback! In this quote we did not include any concrete. You are right. Tubular buildings up to 30 wide can be installed on ground. Red Iron is recommended to sit on sort of concrete foundation whether it be piers or footings.
      Soon we will do more videos covering pricing of concrete :)

    Is there a difference between a garage and a workshop?
    Can osb be installed before the exterior metal goes up?

    • @wolfsteelbuildings
      @wolfsteelbuildings  3 месяца назад

      Thank you! We appreciate the feedback.
      The terms are frequently used interchangeably due to the similarity. Its based on the usage of the building. A garage is typically categorized based on being a place to store motor vehicles or anything of the sort whereas a workshop's is where good/products are worked on or repaired. Typically for this clients who will be running a business from these type of buildings.
      Typically you can use one as the other, but what you add on like insulation OR accessories can change based on the usage and amount of time that will be spent inside the building.
      OSB is typically installed afterwards. This is something you would need to discuss with your builder to see when and how is best. Hope this helps!

    Been following your builds & taking notes for mine… & it’s almost time , but need clarification on 2 things. I want to max wind resistance and interior space.
    I’m leaning towards a 30x50x11 with 3:12 due to a 15’ restriction. Need space for 4 post lift.
    Question:
    1. Would you be able to install a double post with ladder for this height, and
    2. Would 3:12 be the best pitch?
    3. Would you recommend tube or iron?

    • @wolfsteelbuildings
      @wolfsteelbuildings  3 месяца назад +1

      1. If you request double post, we can. Standard is single post.
      2. In Texas, it is the standard. Pitch is based on preference however in areas of heavy snow tall pitches are recommended.
      3. Depends. If it is commercial use, red iron. For residential depends. For utility use, depends
      I would recommend to study the max height of a vehicle on your lift against the bottom height of the trusses make sure you wont have issues.

    i was looking for metal buildings in my area (NW Ohio) and see many builders only use a single post instead of a double post for a 30x40x16' tall building. i would think that the wind rating would drop drastically the higher the building, but I can't seem to find a chart or any info at all to confirm my thoughts. we get wind gusts of 80 mph usually a couple times per year and can have some pretty heavy snow loads. what are your thoughts on this?

    • @wolfsteelbuildings
      @wolfsteelbuildings  4 месяца назад

      In the tubular metal building world, many builders build differently. Harsh truth, some cut corners. The best I can recommend is to get a copy of engineer plans and inspect the building that it was built to plans.
      For 30x40x16 ft tall, a minimum of double post is recommended or ( best ) double post with a spacer (ladder posts).

    What about the double frame as shown at 3:46 . How is that different than the standard tube frame?

    • @wolfsteelbuildings
      @wolfsteelbuildings  Месяц назад +1

      Good eye!
      This is still a tubular frame. We build a bit different than in the industry. We do a single leg up to 12' tall. 13'-14' we do double leg. 15' and up it is a ladder leg. We build like this for wind pressure reinforcement. Essentially creating an I beam like that of a red iron structure.

    I’m thinking of a 30x40 as a garage. But would like to put a small “apartment” on back side.
    Maybe 30x12.
    Would both styles work or prefer red iron ?

    • @wolfsteelbuildings
      @wolfsteelbuildings  4 месяца назад

      Yes, both work great! It just depends how you will create your apartment.
      When doing residential (people living inside) it is important to understand the building envelope you are creating and that the building is engineered for residential (if need be). Most tubular buildings by default are engineered for storage use only.

    I hope I can describe this correctly?
    40 years ago, they put the cross beam {pearling's ??} on the tabs which then were bolted.
    A few years ago I watched them what would be hang the pearling's off of the tabs. As for me, the pearling's and everything else is held by the bolts. Rather then sitting on the tabs.
    I have reasons for thinking that the former is better?? But asking thanks.

    • @wolfsteelbuildings
      @wolfsteelbuildings  2 дня назад

      Majority of pre-engineered metal buildings have the purlins on top of the rafter beams (bypass method) and is preferred method still. In today's weld up buildings, it has become popular to have the purlins butt welded (flush) to the beams. Their are pros and cons to both but I would say as long as the welds are done correctly with the correct tensile/yield strength, both work.

      @@wolfsteelbuildings Well over my working lifetime , I have observed that lowering of Standards has gone on. The one was an industrial building which should have had them sitting on top to support them not hang from bolts. As then the only strength is that of the bolts. Which is stupid.

      I did see the emails between our sales team and you. I can see where the confusion can be with the color screws. Colors screws come standard with Red Iron Buildings but not with Tubular Buildings. In order to compare apples to apples here additional things were added.
      To be completely frank we are not the cheapest option, there is additional things we add like base trim, color screws, specific trims to make the building more functional and aesthetic that are added automatically added in the price so they do come standard at a cost.
