RovyVon baby! Great little lites. I also have a very cheap but very good “nite ize” that takes 1 AAA and is all metal. Battery lasts a pretty long time. 300 lumens, but that’s THE ONLY function it has. 1 light level and only 1 light led. Has lasted 2yrs now and going strong.

I carry the Olight i1r on my keychain. It's small, adequate lumens, a concealed USB recharging port so you can't loose a plug, cool colors and a fair price. The best of all worlds. The key cover light is kind of cool also.

Great review. I’m also a big fan of the Tini 2 for the reasons you mentioned, however I think the RovyVon A8X wins out for me. The high CRI Nichia 219C emitter, red/white/UV sidelights and the fact that it’s plastic (won’t get all scraped up) make it a better keychain choice for me.

My two favorites. The Olight I3E EOS is amazing for the size and money. It is the SMALLEST AAA light out there that I am aware of. Only one brightness is a bit of a bummer, but lights with more brightness are also larger. My current keychain light is the Olight I1R2 EOS. Rechargeable, two brightness levels, and TINY. It is also easy to use.
I have a RovyVonn light that I rather like, but the push-button interface means that it sometimes turns itself on in my pocket. So I don't EDC that one any more, but it has a place in my laptop pack.

I carry two o light i1r, one on my work keys and one on my personal keys, they’re great. Charge quick and last a while. Very bright for its size. I also carry an i3t while at work and one AAA last me about a week or two when used for doing walkthroughs and inspections.

Thanks for this. I am an Olight fan but there are a lot of options out there. Love that i3EOS. After I got one, I got a couple more for all my key chains. Also haver the i1R2 EOS. Same Olight quality but I find it bit too small.

My two favorite are the Tini 2 and the RovyVon A8x. The one that wins for my EDC that I actually have with me is the Nitecore Tini 2. Right now I'm using a small Alpaka "Zip Pouch" wallet. My Land Rover key FOB and the Tini 2 fit perfectly together in the side zip pocket. Money and cards fit in the main compartment. Only time I need to open the wallet is if I need the flashlight. I can hold it up to POS credit card readers with NFC and the payment is made wirelessly. And I can jump in and start my car without ever needing to touch the pouch. It has saved me loosing my key fob any more. The A8x is a fantastic light and I do keep it in my bag for easy access, with no way to check the battery level and no real lockout(even though accidental engaging is rare) plus the larger size/different form factor; it is not my go to choice for always being on my person.

Sadly many of these Keychain lights have a built in battery pack that is not replaceable. To me that's a deal breaker. What's the use of purchasing a light where you'll eventually end up with a dead light? Great video Sir...

WOW!! GREAT VID!!! I have gifted at least 2 dozen of the AAA O'Lights . And a dozen of the Rovyvons. I do admit to owning a Surefire Titan plus AAA. Like you said. Its not cheap. I have been under whelmed with it, since the day I got it. I agree with you on the Tini 2.

I own a Lumintop EDC01, I keep it by my bed to replace the two I had previously. (My EDC and a dollar store laser pointer with an LED on it, so I had one to get to the bathroom with and another to go downstairs with.) It's great to get to the bathroom with on the low mode, and I can use the medium to go downstairs. It doesn't even compare to my Microstream USB for EDC, so it has zero chance at replacing it, however it would be great for someone who wants a flashlight a bit brighter than their phone. I do think it might go on my keychain once I get one. (I'm 14 so I don't carry any keys yet) Also the rubber bit happens to fit on my EDC so I can use that for a bit if I need a really bright mini lantern. If there was a rechargeable version of it I would totally want to buy one of those. Hope this helps someone!

There are two new ones from Fenix I am really curious about...havnt yet tested them. I think EDC1 is best at $10, A1X at $20, but outside of those..not sure which makes sense. Also all the Aurora lights have clips in the box I believe.
I think the New I1R Pro has the right idea...but I would have rather had same lumens (150) and more runtime vs 200 with less potential runtime

Thanks for a great video! I really find myself going back to the RovyVon flashlights. I have the A5-red, A5x-red, A23 and the A25-Red. Last week I had the chance to climb the state High Point in Hawaii and the A5x and A25 Proved essential for getting back down to our rental car. Gets dark early in Hawaii. My father-in-law forgot his headlamp so he ended up using the A5X clipped to his hat and hiked for four hours with it in the low 25-lumen setting. I used the A25 in the low 40-lumen setting and hand carried it. Both seem to have power to spare after four hours of use. Nice versatile lights especially with the added bonus of the sidelights.

I'd love to have a Aurora A8 USB-C Keychain Flashlight with sidelights (3rd generation) now that they are USB C, but have so many flashlights I cannot really justify it. Wish they were more than IPX6, but that should be sufficient for most purposes...guess I am just paranoid.

  • @TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou

wuben g2 is a work light but its great for a keychain too.... you are also missing the tip 2 which I love, the magnet is so strong and it pumps out 720 lumens too and during the winter it can actually maintain turbo if I can keep my finger pressed down lol

EAGTAC D25A Clicky MKII. It has one of the best UI's - Carry with the head tightened and you only get super bright or super bright strobe. Loosen the head and you get all the low modes you need. Fits like a roll of dimes in your hand. Tail stands. Takes 14500 for 405 lumens or AA for a lower but still significant output. Only wish is that it had a reversible clip so you could attach it to a hat brim to use as a headlamp in a pinch. Also recommended is the similar D25C which can put out 800 lumens, but takes a CR123 and is wider and shorter.

I just ordered a good old simple photon light that just gives enough light to read a menu when the ambiance is a little too dark to read. I have a Rovyvon but have notice that it's a little too complicated for my purpose. I just want a quick little light that won't surprise the surrounding with a sudden bright light and the Rovyvon would often blind-side people near me.

I ride a motorcycle and generally try to keep my key ring as slim as possible so keychain lights are out for me.. I tend toward the next size up and keep it in a pocket. For me, the eagtac d25c, 2015 model has been my favorite light. Especially because of the tint.. xpl hi dome less neutral. Perfect. I bought a 2019 one (d3c ti) that was advertised as having the same led but the tint just isn’t what I prefer. It also has a slight delay when switching modes that isnt present in my older one. Bleh. So that one’s a backup now. I’d also owned a 2014 version that had the perfect tint before.. I bought the 2015 to replace it.
I also have the aa version.. 2014 iirc that I mostly use at home. Great light! I bought a handful of them on clearance, kept my favorite and sold the others to coworkers who didn’t care about the tint or beam profile.

Hey great video thanks. Do you find that flashlights with digital buttons fail fast compared to the older flashlights? I've gone though a few in the last 10 years. I recently went through three Nebo mini's which i love the design but wish it would last longer. One lasted two years and the other 2 less than a year. The thing I like most about it is that it's flat and on my outside belt loop, when i need a quick light, I can grab w one hand and simply find the big button without looking or spinning the light around.
Now i'm looking for something else similar.

I've been a big fan of the Maglite Solitaire LED for many years. I'm surprised you don't have one on the table. They're great flashlights. I got the i3e for free and put it on my gal's keys. ~ It does good in her purse, and better for her not having a rechargeable. Heck, she still uses a flip phone and a cable would be a pain for her.
i1R2 I got in a bundle to get free shipping. It was so handy I gave out seven of them for palship gifts for kicks.
Last time I ordered from Olight I got a free orange i1R2 Pro, which I EDC on a 2" Alu. carabiner on my beltloop. lol, it's like bling for me. Loves the li'l orange bugger.
I did put my i1r2 on my keys but I'm not a fan of that. Small enough, but I don't always carry my keys. And I do have my brain fades and I fear I'd misplace my keys using the light...set down in the auto and lock my keys in?
I like the i1R2 Pro on my belt loop. Nary a week goes by that I don't use it. Being carabinered, it and an i1R2 are easier to handle/not drop...can still pop in my mouth for hands free use.

i3e style are the best to me. single mode, single aaa, small, cheap and easy to use.
i still have the surefire titan plus. its huge, heavy, 3 mode, used to come with eneloop pro. 300ish lumens. regular titan was 65. just skip these
i loved the ultratac but i had one that would drain batteries and my buddy who loved them stuff would just keep breaking
olight i1r or whatever is g2g and probably hall of fame
thrunite t-01 was my favorite but single mode. whatever you can get like ti3 is very good. not a lot of colors though
nitecore TUBE was so good. so many colors and cheap. very simple. i was gifting these like crazy and theres still a few in the wild.
    i3e is a pocket light
the lumentop is pretty cool too. i like it.
i dont know about the rest. never had them. i opt to carry another light so a small single mode, single aaa, cheap light available in many colors is highly recommended by me

That first olite AAA works WONDERFUL with a lithium "AAA" 10440 battery at 3-4 volts...it like triples the output and ive yet to cook the led and have 2 lights with dozens of hours each
And for 10$ its amazing and i dont care if the led life goes from 50,000 hours to 5,000 hours....cuz its $10 :)

The Olight i3E EOS is a great little light, just don't find myself using it much. The new ones have a double O-Ring. If you have the older style, you might want to put a wrap of PTFE Thread Seal Tape around the threads. I saw this hack/fix mentioned to avoid having the head come off if you carry it around on your keychain for an extended period without using it, where it might have a chance for the head to work lose. I have an iMorse on a Ti ball chain around my neck at the moment and the newer/larger incarnation, an i1R 2 EOS Pro, of the 5th light in shown in FDE, on my keychain. The iMorse was a great "freebie." Since I bought another light, Baton 3 Pro, shipping was free. Despite the iMorse being CW (crappy white) it actually has a pretty good beam, better than the one on my keychain. It is similar to the iXV (15th Anniversary) one that specifies as being NW (neutral white). I like that they are USB C.

I love everything about the TINI 2, BUT it has a built in battery. Dealbreaker. When the battery wears out in something, I don't want to have to throw the entire device away and buy another one. That's just stupid and wasteful, and I wish these companies would stop doing it. I will pay more for a device that lasts longer and I can replace the battery at will.

I've heard that before. The latest ones have been coming with a double o-ring, presumably to prevent this. One fix I read is to use a wrap of PTFE or plumber's tape around the threads. [I have not yet watched the video, but was reading some of the comments first.]

Obviously you never carried that first olight on your keychain because they fall apart when you're wearing them and the top light part falls to the ground and your battery falls out happens to multiple ones that I have that I gave to family every single one fell apart they are crap the i1r 2 pro it's so much better that one doesn't come apart.

They're all too small. They should be as long as the width of a normal hand, and have the button for blinding light and strobe where your thumb is. They should also have sharp teeth around the lens for defense. You know, like a smaller version of the non keyring ones. Except those ones are longer than the width of your hand... and so are too bulky to fit in a pocket and too heavy to EDC.
