Streamlight Microstream USB is my all time favorite light for bare bones edc, I will however carry a surefire stiletto in addition in my back pocket most of the time because sometimes having a blinding light is nice as well.
I just recently got the titanium version and it's basically my first decent flashlight and I was SURPRISED with how bright that little sucker got. I ended up getting the A2 and A24, obviously carry the A2 on the keychain and probably will seldom need it, but figure it'll be handy to have in a pinch if and when I'd need a flashlight.
I've carried an A5 for probably 2 years now. I use a TEC P7 clip as an upgrade to that pocket clip and have never looked back or had an issue Always available in my left front pocket when I need it. It's amazing as I get older how much having just a little extra light helps
I have bought about 20/25 for all the people in my family and they love them, it's a must have item you always have a great light source on your person, and they make great gifts. I like to get the glow in the dark version for the kids, and they are super durable.
Using A1’s and an A8 for everything. Ditched most of my other lights. Great product.
I own a clear one with red lights too. It’s very good!
Carry the A3 and love it! Gave my wife a A1 and she has been so excited to be able to have quick access to a light in any situation.
Buy the magnectic clip of 3rd generation Auroras. Very strong. Don't get out of the flashlight body easily as the second generation clip. Clip is compatible with all generations of Aurora.
I think I have that one as well. In me pocket always. However went to use it the other night, and it was dead. Took about an hour to recharge, so make sure to use it and recharge regularly. But it is small, bright, and green...
I run a pocket light, but stealing a trick from Junkyard Fox I run a Rovyvon A8 on the side of my wide brimmed hat. Aside from headlamp duty, it has side lights. One light is red. Solid, flashing, and strobe modes available. In case I'm in a low/no light roadside situation it's a beacon.
I’ve had this model on my keys for over a year now. I beat this thing up and have no issues.
I like Photon micro light for keychain....Olight I3e EOS for watch pocket., and carry a Lumintop EDC AA along with my Leatherman in a Wilderness tactical double mag pouch #8 in back pocket. These mag pouches are made in the USA, available in different sizes and can pack them with many items, for around $20, and gear is easily accessible.
Just found out about rovyvon. I’m in the process of reviewing the E5. Thanks for the video👍
Looks great. I have a lot of flashlights, but it's the Streamlight Microstream USB that's always in my pocket. And it's not on my keyring.
I carry a Nitecore Tini 2 but the looks of the Aurora and the price sounds better.
Recently for me, been edc'en Sofirn SP10, Small in pocket, AA battery.
I discovered these about 2 years ago. I have 3-4 of the A1. I have them in various discreet places to provide access to emergency light (as a supplement to my larger 18650 lights). eg. one in the coin tray in my car, one sitting on top edge of my computer keyboard. Sometimes I carry one in the 5th pocket as discrete EDC. These things are very bright and usable reducing need to have large chunky heavy flashlights all the time. Great for looking into small spaces where larger light cannot go. Highly recommended.
I love my tiki from nitecore. Only $20 and so many functions
Your reviews are always information packed. Thank you for what you do.
Hey just bought one of those about a month ago. :) The A1x. Such an amazing little micro flashlight at such a great price point.
Rovyvon is king in the world of key-chain flashlights as far as I am concerned. I have several and have given away about half a dozen. Not only do I have them on two key-chains I keep a few stashed in convenient places for quick access. The two things that stand out for me are reliability and function.
A few things. I'd strongly advise getting one with a light on the side as well. I think it's the A8 or something. "Lantern" mode.
Also mod the clip slightly - i use a pair of pliers to tighten up the grip around the flashlight, and loosen the actual clip part just a little.
Now you have a thing you can clip into your collar that shines in all directions. I use it to roll cigarettes, pissing in dark places, other scenarios where you might need both hands free and a small light coming from your chest.
Mine also has a super bright red signal light. I clip it onto my backpack when I bike at night, or walk along the road in the dark.
I also figure it would be a great rescue signal while hiking.
I sometimes use it to signal my friends over at festivals or concerts etc.
the rovyvon aurora A8 has all that and a few other options like a red, uv, and warm white side leds
I've carried a nitecore tiki on my keys for more than a year and I love it. Great backup light. You should definitely check it out.
That seem like a functional & reliable keychain option. I have placed my allegiance into Fenix light sources for the past few years, as I now own five different models & have been very satisfied with them all.
I've had an A5 Aurora since they first started selling a few years ago. The GITD polymer it's made of, is handy for finding your keys on those dark mornings. I clip it onto my backpack when I'm cycling, on the red flashing setting it's an extra light for motorists to see.
Despite the drops and getting it wet, it is still running like new. Plus, 550 lumens! It was a no-brainer, especially at £20ish when first released.
I use the nitecore tini 2, it's smaller and slimmer than this one and its just as bright. But is also has a little screen that shows how much battery life you have left. I love it!
Streamlight penlight was a lifesaver for me
Bought the whole family one of those last Christmas and it was a big hit.
i have the A7 and its great. clip works fine for when attach it to my hat. good review
I've carried this for about 10 months and I love it. The pocket clip does come off the body if it's hit too hard but I've never lost it because the few times it's happened it just fell into my pocket
I just carry a small AAA light with a pocket clip. I think I need to upgrade after seeing this. Thanks, Aaron, for the video.
Thanks for the review, Aaron! I got one of these a couple months ago and was so impressed that I got more to give as gifts to my loved ones. My Nitecore TIP, which I carried on my keychain for years, is semi-retired now. The clip is, like you said, flimsy, but I've stuck it on the bill of my hat to use as a headlamp a few times with no problems. I can definitely see it getting knocked off if there's any kind of contact though. On that note, I also picked up an A3, which is similar in size, and find that the clip holds onto that one more sturdily. I suspect I'm going to end up with a whole collection of RovyVon lights before too long.
The A1X would be the ONLY keychain light I would recommend if they could ever make it ipx7 or better..the IP66 keeps it just shy of that mark.
I have the RovyVon Aurora A23 on my keychain. It is a little bigger than the A1 in what RovyVon calls "EDC" size. I find it still fits in my pockets, but is a little nicer in the hand. Thanks for the video on very affordable and practical gear.
great video will check on this. Never thought I'd put a light on my keys, "Phone's got a light", right? Then I found Olight i1R 2 EOS, tough, bright, chargeable, fits the niche " short use duration, durable and on-hand". not as bright as this Aurora but tiny, metal and waterproof, never use my phone light now. Will check this aurora out though thanks
I bought two of these, the glow in the dark models. I loved both of them but the plasit broke on both flashlights so I gave up on them and went back to my old Nitcore that is larger but built like a tank.
I've carried a dedicated flashlight for years. I've recently started also keeping one with my keys as a backup. This has given my some freedom to test some alternative brands and styles. I'm currently trying out a small flashlight from a brand called Kodiak (it was on clearance at Wal-mart). I didn't really trust it, but I'm willing to give it a shot since I won't be stranded while I've got my olight i1R2 pro on my keys. The Kodiak seems fine. It's got a couple features I don't care for, but it's good enough I'd give it to one of my sons when they get a little older and if they want to edc a light. But I wouldn't have known if I didn't try. And I wouldn't have tried if I didn't have a backup on my keys.
I have this exact same model on my keychain since the last 4 months and it's not comming out of there anytime soon. It's crazy the performance it delivers for such a tiny thing. I never had to use the strobe feature so far but it's cool to know that it's available if the needs come.
I carry my microstream in a recycled fire fighter pocket pouch:) I like the options on this light and for a good price 👍
I have a Fitorch K3 Lite . 550 lumen , UV light , Red -Sos . 30 grams, size of a lighter, but double the price. This seems a very good case , but i never heard this company. If it is reliable with the usb c , looks like a great edc gear! 650 l . and delivered from that little thing is magnificent. Great video Aaron
Thanks for the vid. Rather stick to the olight mini baton
This thing is pretty awesome but the one thing lacking thats a deal breaker for me is that theres no clip. I use a streamlight pocket mate and i love it solely for the fact that i can clip it to the brim of my hat. Not as powerful, maybe half the lumens but its plenty bright enough.
I have a Ledlenser p3 og on my keys and a Ledlenser p2r core in my pocket.
I've had a Nitecore Tip SE for a while and I love it. I had a previous version of it before that which I still use for around the house. Plenty of power when I need it but the lower settings are great for most stuff.
I've had the same flashlight on keychain for two years now. Its been the best of all the keychain flashlights that I've owned. I normally carry a olight Baton 3 also with me. I work a lot of 12 hours night shifts and both flashlights get a lot of work out of them.
I carry an i3UV on my keychain and a green to black gradient i5T in my back pocket. might be time for a change.
Hey looking for buying this... Thanks for video🎥🎥
Great video keep them coming!
I carry the Nitecore TIKI for a few years. Now planning to get one of Auroras, didn't decide which one yet, but definitely with additional light options and with magnetic tail if they make such. Also I'm using a silicon diffusor from Lumintop EDC 01 to get a good flood light even in low modes.
One day at work I found one of those flashlights that's also a stun gun and baseball bat. It was pretty loud 😂
You need to go check out the 5.11 2.0 versions of the LV series and Rush series. I would like to hear your opinion on them
Thanks for your explanation
You are welcome
Hey bro, I cant fight off the zombies with this small light! No pun intended
I have this one GT, and it is the truth sir! Subbed!!
Awesome and welcome to the GT family.
Cool little light. I have kept a small low lumen pen light in my sleep shorts pocket for years, a late night bang of my pinkie toe, I dislocated it and did not notice till the next morning due to nerve damage/neuropathy said I need a handy light at night. This might just be a great upgrade giving me enough light to navigate my house. While giving me more lumens if the need arises. Thanks Aaron.
I also loved this light… I loved it so much I purchased 3 of them. 2 out of the three glitched out in a strange way. The charge indicator light wouldn’t turn off after it was unplugged from the charger. That would drain battery within a few hours. It made this light totally unreliable and relegated to the bottom of the crappy edc gear drawer. My nightcore stuff on the other hand has been much more reliable in the tiny light department . This is Just my personal experience not hating on anyone or trying to sell anything just relaying experience.
Good to see you have this on your keys as well! Love my A1x. Can I suggest you try using a magnet system so you can detach it from your keys quickly. I use the KeySmart MagConnect and it’s an absolute game-changer! Anyway, love your content dude. Keep it coming :)
I don’t like to carry a key ring light but I do always carry some type of edc flashlight. The OLight I3T usually suits my daily needs.
Nice unit. I’m in. Thanks👍🏆
Least expensive light in the links is $26, up to $68 for others.
I really like the concept, but I can't get into these kinds of flashlights and prefer to pocket carry something like my Nitecore MT10C. Even though it helps reduce the footprint of it, I don't like the internal battery lights that you have to recharge. Even with a battery bank in your bag or somewhere close, you still have to give it time to charge. I want a light that I can swap out batteries as needed, and keep using without delay. Also, I prefer my light to be standalone and not attached to my keys or anything else. Something I can quickly access and be quiet about it, if the occasion requires it (jingling keys). Though, this one does have a clip also, so my 2nd point is a bit moot.
Now that the Gen 3 Aurora series is out, the original Auroras are going for a song. If you don't mind the smaller battery capacity and slightly lesser max lumens, it's probably the best keychain edc flashlight you can get. Unless you are considering China OEMs, in which case the S11 series would be the bang for the buck versions of Gen 2 A5s.
Mecarmy 530 lumon and I have a cheap 180 lumon 2 x AAA pen light but looking to upgrade to 500 soon
No key ring light I carry a fenix e12 v2 in my alpaka zip pouch pro .
I just pocket edc a Streamlight ProTac 1L-AA dual fuel. Now with Surefire rechargeable 123A's it's much more affordable to carry.
I can find a cheap-o light and laser pointer combined at dollar tree for $1.25 (since they raised their prices by 25 cents). It's keychain size, very small, fits in an Altoids tin easily... but it's not rechargable, not able to replace the power cell, and is otherwise a fragile piece of crap. The flashlight is okay and the laser can light up a road sign from a mile away.
What I can't seem to find is a good EDC light/laser combo that isn't six inches long and an inch and a half in diameter and can stand up to reasonable use with a rechargable or at least replacable power source. I mean, if Dollar Tree can get a piece of crap in that size, can't someone make a good one that costs more about that size?
Any suggestions?
Nice light. For me, feature rich is a dram back. I mean SOS...pfff, never used, strobe....pfffff, never used. Give me moonlight so I can read an owner's manual in the dark and not have a light so bright that is floods out the words. I have had to do this when a hurricane took out our power and we had an issue with backup power. Low is nice for searching for dropped items on a vehicles floor or under the seat, medium is nice for looking for something in the bedroom when the wife is sleeping or around camp in the immediate area, and high power speaks for itself. More than that, is just clutter and makes the light harder to use and that's the last thing I want when I need light, but what do I know. Keep up the great work.
My wife has one of those A1 flashlights on her keyring at all times. She says she uses it every day on the way back to her car during winter months. Its stupid bright (650lm) for a flashlight that makes my Olight Baton 3 look huge. I might buy another one since they finally upgraded to USB-C! The A5 and A8 models are quite feature packed!
Hey GT, you think a Coulee 25 would make a good day hunting pack? I wanted to get a Scapegoat 25 but they discontinued it.
the USB C upgrade sells this one
I like this product, but I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by all the products in recent years that are "rechargeable" instead of using standard, disposable batteries. The number of charging cables at my house is piling up, and I've already misplaced some charging cords that I need.
In your 5 months with it, how many times did you have to charge it? How long would you say it could hold a charge if not used very often? Weeks? Months?
I carry the nitecore tip se I had the tip for years and decided to upgrade.
How do you lock them? I've tried pressing it 5 times fast as it says in the manual but it just turns on strobe light 🤷🏻♂️
Shame that clip just isn't all that. I use the clip on the olight Baton all the time and love it as I can rely on it to hold to my cap. But as you know the Baton hasn't got an attachment point. Surly it can't be that hard to get it all together.
One hour 650 lumens that crazy 😮
I have a Nitecore Tini 2, which you have reviewed I think.
Yes good option too
Is that an estwing axe behind you on your right, if so can you review that
Tiki always on the key ring
do you know how long it can last with strobe on? does it use max lumens/power when strobing?
Yes max Lumens, not sure the run time
Fenix E03R is on my keychain
I use a trunite cutlery lover edition with a li-po battery to increase it's output somewhere near 700-800 lumens. But, I just know it really bright and if needed use a battery backup.
That looks really nice. I used an Olight I1R for a while, and it's still my father's edc flashlight. My only issue with it is that I want a plastic flashlight body so I don't have to worry about what else is in my pocket with my car key.
When I carry a flashlight, it's usually either an olight I3t, though im planning on switching to something with a button on the side that can tail stand if needed
Is that a Tahoma field knife with a clip point?
Tops steel eagle delta class
@@gideonstactical thanks. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'll have to price it.
There's always superglue to make that pocket clip stick.
2 good actual keychain lights are the:
Olight i3E EOS (AAA)
Olight I1R 2 Pro Eos (usb rechargeable)
The only downside I can see is there is only one way to power the light. Once that battery fails, you throw the whole thing away.
I am a mountain biker and get caught in the rain often and that flashlight is not waterproof!
Bushnell pocket flashlight....your welcome
But how does it fit in your giant hands
G'day Aaron, looks a great option if that's how you roll, shame about the clip, the size/weight, would be ideal for a ball cap IMO.
Personally a dedicated keychain job doesn't make sense for me, since I only carry keys when driving. I have a coupla lights in the vehicle and also pocket carry at least a 14500/AA tube 95% of the time.
The other aspect is recharge; with NiMh AAs and 14500s, (or any other Li ion for that matter), I can have back up pre-charged and ready for change over without any wait for a charging cycle, nor do my keys need to be tethered to a power supply while it happens.
Each to their own though, I'm sure this one would suit a lotta folks daily, ..... or indeed nightly, needs. Cheers Duke.
Please also put cm and grams for the non American viewers. Imperial is yesterdays system. Much appreciated

Strobe is worthless and annoying. How about on and off. Its a flashlight . You don’t need stobe, sos, or any other anoying modes
Good thing this as a simple on and off feature too
I have the olight I1R 2 pro Eos keychain light at 180 lumens the nitecore tiki keychain light at 300 lumens the

KEY rings are meant for keys, not knives, flashlights, first aid kits, cooking grills, etc.. 😂😂😂. In fact, only janitors need more than 1 (vehicle) or 2 (possibly house) keys on the ring in their pocket. 🤷🏻♂️
