That’s a great kit, I have some Knipex already and just got the Wera Tool-Check Plus today and made a small but very significant mod to it already. I put a hole under the head of the ratchet so I can store it with the 1/4 inch adapter ready to go. To use a socket I don’t even need to open the main compartment. This is how I went about it. With the ratchet in place I poked a hot straight pick tool down the middle of the ratchet hole. First just left a mark then checked for concentricity and adjusted before making a hole, then I proceeded to make the hole bigger with successively bigger drill bits but by heating the blunt end. I let it cool and removed some melted bits between each drill bit, ending in a 9mm hole that came out pretty neat. The adapter lines up fair perfectly with the bit hole beneath it and I place the smallest Allen head bits in front of it. The main compartment closes properly and can be accessed without removing the ratchet. It basically looks factory, no one without the kit would even tell.
I'm definitely buying that ratchet. Not something I need or would use all the time, but I feel like it's one of those things that when I need it, it'll make my life easier.
I swear by my icepicks for tool kits, I've made multiple versions in different sizes, it's basically a very thick and long Awl so that it can be used for prying, scraping, punching holes, scribing, positioning etc Even for making additional holes in people if needed ;)
@@EYALAVRAHAMI tried it but the point is better for marking hole locations and making small precise holes in soft materials, also I can heat it up and stuff without really worrying about ruining the heat treatment And I already have the Tool check plus with me therefore I don't really need a screwdriver
@@---Michael--- If You use the small diameter one, let it be many new orifices, or maybe just one at a very strategic place, where no man want more than one hole.😊
Awesome kit. I am inspired to assemble my own. I will add a size 14 socket (Japanese cars and bikes) to the wera set and stainless locking wire (normally used to secure aircraft nuts etc) instead of trapping wire. Also will add an high output lighter and a small (gel type) glue tube. Those knipex wrenches are also mandatory I guess. I have the larger one already and love it.
The Wera tool-check plus is the first tool I take with me when I need to repair things out of the house. I have it for more than 5 years and it still performs and looks like new, although it is my most used tool.
Great kit Jeremy! I always appreciate your no BS approach to you videos. There's always something that the individual will add or subtract but this is a great starter with great explanations as to why it's in there. Well done!
Why are they making everything out of titanium anyway? I keep seeing all these expensive EDM tools but most of them seem rather useless and overpriced!
Great idea for a small edc kit. I repair sterilizers in hospitals and it’s such a pain to get in and out especially with all my tools. I’ve been trying to setup different “levels” of repair kits for certain situations. I think something like this would cover some of the smaller day to day things I deal with. Thanks for the review
I work on dental equipment and have tried so many combinations of tool setups over the years. Big wheeled bags with more than I need, small kits with less than I need. I’ve learned that you’ll NEVER find the perfect setup
GREAT KIT! This little tool kit would have saved me HOURS of frustration and hundreds of dollars when my battery lost connection while riding. Total power loss at 60 MPH in the middle of nowhere. Stood waiting for a tow truck for hours and the cost to get everything, including me, back home, would have easily paid for a few of these kits. Thanks for the idea as I've been looking for something exactly like this for my next long ride.
Great kit! I've been doing almost exactly the same. I added the makita SAE socket caddy to compliment the Wera metric stuff. Also instead of a second screwdriver and light I have a prybar and ruler. A little bailing wire and duct tape round mine out. Same maxpedition pocket, wera caddy and same Knipex.
Nice little kit! You could also add a small neodymium magnet. Takes no space and you can use it at the end of the wire to fish out a dropped fastener, etc.
Great advice about using the "factory" tire change tools at least once. My experience is that I only "need" to change a tire while using them is on the side of a dark road in the rain.
Great minds think alike. I have a shed in my back yard fully equipped with everything I need for home maintenance. But since I am a lazy person, I made myself a similar kit which I keep in my Lady Cave for simple in house tasks so I don't have to go to the shed.
This is exactly why I want to build a little tool kit for the house. I bring stuff in and it stays for a while or I have to go back and forth a ton of times to get everything. very annoying
Great idea & I decided to start a similar kit. Ordered with the link below for the Maxpedition and the 2 Knipex pliers. Arrived today. Unfortunately the MINI Maxpedition linked is way too small. The larger Knipex barely fits. Returning and ordered the E.D.C. version that looks closer to what is shown in the video - hopefully. I'll keep you posted!
This was the comment I was looking for. Which pouch did you end up with? Maxpedition seems to be quite heavy on the pricing in Europe and wouldn't want to order multiple to get the right one. Mini seems small.
Nice setup. It's always a good idea to use the tools before you really need them and iron out the kinks. I just picked up some compact engineer ph-55 scissors (Japan) which might be a good addition to your kit.
Nice wee kit. You raise a good point with the wire; a selection of commonly used fixings (a few screws, nuts and bolts, wire and even wall plugs), in a plastic bag or container, are so much more useful than the ubiquitous gaffer tape and cable ties, which of course I also carry in my EDC toolkit.
Truth! I’ve carried a one-AA cell in a cargo pocket for years. It is regularly used. It’s not as bright as my bigger lights (love 18650-based lights), but it’s always on me.
I think the current Maxpedition E.D.C. Pocket Organizer is the closest thing to that. It's almost identical pocket wise. The mini you linked has a full pocket passthrough on the right side...it's not separated into different sections like yours...but the EDC is. Great kit. Been looking for something small to keep in my car with some other tools to use in a pinch.
Update - the Fatty *does* fit the tools properly and the bag will zip shut with everything in it. FYI, the pouch in your links - and the one that comes as part of the bundle with the tools, doesn't fit the toolkit. I presume they changed the pouch. I've just returned mine and ordered the "Maxpedition Fatty Pocket Organizer" instead. Hopefully, that one fits
One addition to consider- 4” zip tie. Saved my butt from carrying my 1 year old around New Orleans when the “tire” on the stroller popped off. Wrapped that bad boy with 3 ties and good as new!
Thank you very much. I have found your kit one of the best for me and inspiriting. Which Maxpedition pouch are you using or which dimensions? How long are your Knipex pliers?
A spring loaded nail set is amazing. Get the one with a punch on one end and a nail set on the other. No need for a hammer and it can punch pilot holes, drive nails home, knock door pins out, etc. and it’s smaller than a pencil.
This little tool kit looks perfect for putting in a glove box in a car, keeping handy on a boat, or keeping handy in a small RV trailer. My trailer is only 20 ft long but is a bunkhouse model that sleeps 5, so it doesn't have a lot of storage space. I have been wanting to find a small but useful tool kit to keep inside the travel trailer for quick easy fixing tools so I don't always have to try it out. The full toolbox. It occurs to me that having another small tool kit like this in the glove box of my truck can also be very handy when I am away from the trailer.
The only thing I would suggest is swapping the two screwdrivers for a mega pro 13 in 1 Automotive screwdriver. The screwdriver is an absolute beast but fine enough to ratchet a wall outlet plate.
HAHA You started and I thought about the Wera set. I use the Zyclop set in the soft bag as it fits in my cargo pocket -But with the smal ratchet and a slim magnet holder. As knive I use a cutter from Würth with an hardent tip to lever and gumy grip.
The pen I carry most often with me is a Fisher bullet space pen. This pen writes upside down, on wet or greasy paper, under water and in extreme weather conditions.
At first I used the Toll check plus but changed for the zyclop set in the soft bag. It fits in my cargo trouser pocket is more comfy and I addet the smal ratched and a slim magnetic bit holder and an adapter for my impackt driver. But - cool set. I like the foldeble ratchet,
I'm always looking at different ideas for my EDC but never thought about a dedicated tool EDC. My ratchet set is small but a plastic holder which has broken and it's a mess. I'm setting up a kit like yours as I use the same tools over and over but seem to be missing the exact part that I need. Thanks for the ideas.
Love the video! I have two recommendations that I carry in my EDC as a mechanic that after watching your whole video sounds like you might be interested in A) Knipex Twin grips, theyve gotten me out of some tough spots where some of my other knipex were just not the right angle i needed. B) VIM HBR1046. On one end of it an adjustable locking head holding a 10mm that comes with a 3/8 head. On the other end is a 1/4 inch bit same adjustable locking head. Both bits are removable, both ends have the thumb stud on the back you like, and overall a very slim profile. However, it is 10 inches long so if it wont fit in your bag completely understandable. But a lot of options in a compact design.
I liked your pouch so I ordered a couple items. Namely the maxpedition pouch and the wear tool set. I used the links you provided and the wera tool set doesn’t fit in the pouch! The pouch can hold just under 6.5” long. The tool set is 7 1/8”.
I own one and I regret the purchase. It’s useless for 90% of jobs because of how short the ratchet is. I mean, I never used it for a job, where I didn’t end up needing to use my other ratchet set
Thanks for the video. NIce kit. Thanks for pointing out the difference between the knipex pliers, I somehow missed the silver variant without the teeth. I'm going to add the precision screwdriver to a couple of my kits (solid idea). Thanks again!

Nice kit! I’ve been meaning to expand my EDC kit. I have those cobra 125s but I fixed a deep pocket knife clip to the pliers and I keep them in my pocket. I feel like I can take over the world with those pliers. I also keep on me a Leatherman MUT and a small telescopic pen magnet and a small fenix flashlight
Love your kit! But, the link for the pouch is linking to a smaller version of it, the Maxpedition Mini Pocket Organizer, that doesn't fit the Wera Tool Check Plus. It could be that Amazon changed things up on their end.
These are great tools! And a very nice demo too. But the Maxpedition Mini pouch is only 6" long, and too small to hold the Wera tool-kit. I bought it & it arrived today - I'm not sending it back, because it's such a neat little pouch - but I discovered that it's actually the EDC pouch you need, 8" long.
The Knipex smooth jaw are fantastic! I have the 175mm ones in my pocket as edc. Love them! I have an wera 817R and just a standard makita bit set in pocket. Prefer the 817R as it’s short enough but the bar pops out to create a normal length screwdriver! Feel like a Jedi popping out the extension 😂
Great video and it has inspired me to make a pouch also. I noticed that the EDC pouch in your description points to the mini pouch. Shouldn't it be the bigger pouch?
Nebo rechargeable light. Adjust light, has a clip and two magnetic spots. If you purchase the plus version it has additional laser pointer and is a power bank.
Ah, I have almost the same set. There is no way around Wera and Knipex when it comes to a Mini EDC. Here in Germany they are standard and market leader anyway. Best regards and sorry for my bad english.
Thanks for this video! I'm always looking for ways to build as much tool capacity as possible into as little space as possible, and this definitely scratches that itch! For the record, I find those Husky precision driver and Torx kits some of the best bang for the buck you can find!
Haven't bit the bullet and bough any knipex yet. I probably should as they would be good for at-home and at work as a mechanic. I like the wera tools too but from when I've looked before they seem expensive. I'm cheap and just dela with what I have until it breaks.
I think they are overrated. I've never used them and never needed them. He says they replace a crescent wrench and that may or may not be true but if you need a crescent wrench in your EDC then you're probably doing stuff that you probably need a full tool kit anyway.
you should look at the milwaukee pen light, i have one and love it, it is longer then the 2 lights you have but the end is rubber to allow you to hold it in your teeth without it chipping your teeth.
@@Simplelittlelife if want to add a bite end to you little lights streamlight olight or maglight you can get some heat shrink tubing and cut to fit and shrink it to the light I use it to hold my streamlight stylus pro clips on but I also moved the clip to make the light to bezel end or cree LED . So it will still work as head lamp to my ball cap. One tool I'd add to you kit would be a malco 1/4-5/16 flip socket bit and it makes a good magnet pick up tool to add to the Paracord
Need some loctite in there. Small container of it. Considering this is just a small repair kit, and nothing heavy duty is being fixed with this. You just need the low strength stuff. Not medium or higher. Also put some on your glasses screws :) Might also want to consider a knife. Svord makes a lightweight peasant knife at 2.5 inches. I find it very handy. Nice steel, easy to sharpen. It's very cheap. I ended up buying a half dozen of them and just leaving them in drawers and garage and vehicles.
The maxpedition pouch you have linked is the smaller version of what's shown in your video. Anyone watching that wants to copy cat his kit you need the next size up

Nice kit, thanks for sharing. I need to look into that Wera kit. The only thing I think you are missing is a small roll of electric tape.
Nebo rechargeable light. Adjust light, has a clip and two magnetic spots. If you purchase the plus version it has additional laser pointer and is a power bank.
First video I ever saw, of yours, was an EDC pouch video. That was a long long time ago. Gonna go back and watch that one and see how it's changed
check out the vanquest line of pouches - the inside is bright orange and the loops are offset to fit more stuff inside.
Ah, I have almost the same set. There is no way around Wera and Knipex when it comes to a Mini EDC. Here in Germany they are standard and market leader anyway. Best regards and sorry for my bad english.
Right on. That’s interesting to hear. And, your English is great👍
Thanks for this video! I'm always looking for ways to build as much tool capacity as possible into as little space as possible, and this definitely scratches that itch! For the record, I find those Husky precision driver and Torx kits some of the best bang for the buck you can find!
EXCELLENT!!!👍👍👍 Thank You!! ❤ Really appreciate your sharing your kit!
Great little kit Jeremy. I’m gonna try to get one of those little socket sets. Love the podcast too, btw! Happy New Year!
Yo that mini tool kit is 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks
Love the kit. Super streamline but super capable!
Thank you!
Great kit! Thank you for sharing! 😎👍🏻
you should look at the milwaukee pen light, i have one and love it, it is longer then the 2 lights you have but the end is rubber to allow you to hold it in your teeth without it chipping your teeth.
I have that one! With the true colour light or whatever they call it. I have that in my next size up too kit 👍
Also put some on your glasses screws :)
Might also want to consider a knife.
Anyone watching that wants to copy cat his kit you need the next size up
You are right the mini is too small
One size up is the Fatty Pocket or EDC Pocket?
@@VictorCaoCAyeah, he linked the mini (6”L). Next size up would be 7” which I don’t think is going to cut it either.
Another comment mentioned the Fatty should work.
Aweosme kit! I have the Wera kit it’s amazing! An the Knipex Pilar’s but the mini mini version. I 1,000% need that awesome pivoting ratchet/t handle, that’s Aweosme, thanks!
Right on. Thanks for the kind words and for watching 👍
Any luck finding that ratchet or similar on Amazon? his link is discontinued from the Amazon seller.
Great information about compact and very versatile tool selection thanks.
Solid video. Very helpful.
nice kit, I recently bought a little wera screwdriver kit, very well made stuff!
Really nice kit
Would be cool to know what that bag at the end that straps down to the motorcycle fendor is called???
This is the first EDC “TOOL” kit that had some functionality for real trades people, and had actual tools not just silly micro drivers and leathermans
Great info. Cool guy. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
VERY solid! thanks for the great info brother. Gotta build myself one here soon!
It's a great kit! Thanks for many good ideas..
I’m starting to lean towards layered kits.
Also, there’s elements I want from each kit lol
do you have an everyday knife/blade for cutting instead of an xacto?
can someone explain me the diffrence between the 2 wrenches and why i would need both?
Great kit. One thing i would add is either an awl or a pin punch.
How well does the Wera toolcheck fit in that pouch? Does it bulge a lot?
Well it’s been a month with no response and I can now answer my own question as I’ve recently purchased the Wera and the maxpedition pouch. It fits and it bulges a lot.
That Wera kit is danged handy looking.
Great kit! What is the brand of shirt you have on I'm the video?
Looks like a great kit..thanks for sharing!
Nice kit. Your EDC could use the addition of POM OC spray for the aggressive four or two legged animals.
