It happens. A buddy that I played high school ball with ended up at LSU with me. He walked-on to the track team. One night they were at a party that got broken up and tried to outrun the cops, but got caught. They went to jail and the cops gave them the business over being D1 track athletes and not getting away. Funny side story: this is right after 9/11. My friend is dark and can grow a think beard. Actually it was the 2021 draft. I remember because people were praising him a ton after his freshman year and many had him mocked going #1 in the draft after his sophomore year before his sophomore year happened

Yeah, Brandon seems to skirt over the part where he was absolute garbage for those first 6 games at OU. OU won despite him, and all the games were insanely close against very inferior opponents. Caleb came in right before halftime against Texas in that 6th game and saved OU from a shellacking that would've happened had Spencer been in the whole game. He folded under the bright lights of a big program.

As a panthers fan almost every pick the saints made was infuriating because they were all players that would make them better immediately. The rattler pick pissed me off the most, because the value of picking him in the fifth and sitting under Carr for atleast a year means they would be set up again for years if rattler can develop. Low risk, high reward.

QBs are different they are the only position being right in the head is required. A rb that’s highly aggressive is great that means he’ll be hard to tackle a defender who wants to hurt people means he likes his job. A qb that’s only thinking about himself and disparaging his teammates means your whole team is a mess if something goes wrong.

Tom Brady was slow. QB speed is for running QBs. Rattler can't read defenses, he is not NFL level. Running QBs are the downfall of the NFL.
Speed is not a top priority for a qb unless it has to do with how quickly you can correctly identify a defense and get rid of the ball accurately to your skill position players which speed is a top priority..I'm no Rattler fan, just getting of hearing how 'slow"this qb.or that one is.

All I know was he was a standup guy for South Carolina. A leader, never complained about the horrible O line he had his senior year, and was well liked by his teammates .
I’m glad Spencer is getting a chance but I was never impressed by what I saw on the field from him.
I think sitting behind a dude like Carr is a great situation for him. Carr seems like a secure guy who would be a good mentor both on and off the field.
Last people I listen to for advice are NFL scouts when it comes to quarterback analysis. Multiple BFL scouts said Josh Rosen’s arrogance was a sign he was great, Patrick Mahomes is a risky pick, Lamar Jackson is not a draft worthy quarterback, and Brock Purdy is barely worth a draft pick.
Fkn Rosen. Almost forgot about that guy and how he said 31 teams made a mistake and he was going to make them pay.
Stats show that the first rated overall qb usually works out, but after that it’s a crap shoot. Basically unanimous consensus produces results, while anyone picked after the first one is not guaranteed.

Williams didn't overshadow Rattler. Rattler absolutely SUCKED at OU and got benched, then Williams balled out. He also had character issues there. Then he was just okay at SC. Him being a POS in high school was just the icing on the cake
Yeah you can’t just overlook that Rattler as the starter with experience had OU down 3 scores to Texas and Caleb Williams brought them back to win. That’s a pretty stark contrast.
I honestly don’t think the saints will ever truly recover from losing Brees. They’re gonna have to start from absolute scratch because they’re trying to replicate a Brees offense and it’s just not gonna work.

Rattler has the physical gifts. Off the chart talent. He couldn’t get it done when you needed him to take over the game. Inconsistent. You couldnt count on him to win the game for you… you just hoped he wouldnt lose it for you. I don’t know how else to say it.

Being an AZ kid, i had always loved Rattler and wanted him on the Broncos for so long but I'm glad he went to a place where he can learn behind a solid veteran with a chance to start down the road

When I'd heard rumblings that the Broncos would pass on QB in the first round and go with skill position ie Brock Bowers, Rome Odunze, etc; I hoped it was bullshit. Never was wowed by Rattler, and I'm still sickened at the fact that my team was "very interested".

It's possible that the TV thing caused it, but don't forget that Tulane's Michael Pratt was also expected to go around the same time Rattler was supposed to & he lasted till the 7th round. Teams seem to be ignoring the mid-round QB types & going for either the 1st rounders or late round development types. I think Rattler is going to surprise a lot of people.

Dak Prescott fell to the 4th round in 2016, and if I recall correctly, there was a DUI before the draft that caused his stock to fall. Rattler could end up surprising us just as much as Prescott if Carr gets hurt, and his competition for the #2 QB job with the Saints consists of Jake Haener & Nathan Peterman.

I went to a high school close to Pinnacle where Rattler played and we played them once a year in football and basketball. Rattler played both his junior year and I’ve genuinely never seen a more cocky athlete. Nico Mannion was also at pinnacle and an elite basketball player, yet carried himself significantly better than Rattler. Since then I’ve been actively playing on his downfall. I hope he’s grown up

We had a stellar defender that locked Nico up for the first half holding him to just 7 points, sadly he then fouled out and Nico ended the game with 32 and the game winner… we could not get passed that guy. Nico was always professional though and even after snatching our souls, shook hands and didn’t taunt. Rattler though even in basketball talked a lot of big game despite being their 3rd or 4th option

@JJ-zr6fu I guess what I should say is Caleb Williams took his job while undefeated. Yeah we can discuss that game, but it's nonsense. Williams destroyed the sooners and went to USC with Lincoln Riley. Rattlers career was damaged because of this. That video means nothing because Bryce Young and Justin Fields were top draft prospects taken in the first round.

The character flaws or strengths we see in high school, we see in the NFL. Rattler had issues with high school teammates, just like in college. Young A-holes in high school, get better at hiding it as they get older. When things get tough, the a-hole comes out and needs to walk around.
