Playing these songs with these people makes me want to drop everything and move to France and just do this forever. The good news is that Pomplamoose is playing our first live show in five years tomorrow! And it’s SOLD OUT!!! Very excited to see our LA fans. We’ll be driving up to SF the next day! Still a few tickets left for that one so if you want to come see us on Saturday...pomplamoose.com A bientôt j’espère… :)
Do you plan one day to do a live show in France? I would love to see you live but LA or SF is a little too far for a french guy like me. ;)
Hope your live gigs go really well! : )
My wife and I are really looking forward to seeing your L.A. show. We can't wait.
Surtout Paris 😅
Would you ever come to Sydney Australia?
I like how the drummer plays in French also.
Thats a legit troll. F pressed.
he does have that french waiter indifference look to him
This comment doesn't make any sense, but somehow it does!
hahah ye at 0:35 it cracked me up
it happenend right after i read your comment 😂 it hit fast
Her voice has that 1940's phonograph quality...absolutely stunning
ruclips.net/video/z79l26nFBys/видео.html
This doesn't make sense but i absolutely knows what you're talking about😂
The way the drummer smiles is infectious.
The harmonica is SPOT on...the WHOLE song is so ROMANTIC.
One of the reasons why I love the French language is that you can hear when the speaker/singer is smiling.
I agree did nt notice that b 4
That is honestly amazing. Ive studied the language for 7 years now and this feeling was ineffable until today
You can hear this in any language, since sounds are affected and in some cases distinguished by the shape of the lips, as well as the fact that the muscles used to smile can shift the way you go about speaking
ruclips.net/video/z79l26nFBys/видео.html
Literally every language ever
Natalie was not lying when she said that singing in french might be her vocation
that's right. in english she always seems to hold back her breath and timbre. in french she let's it all loose.
I don't understand a word, but the instrument that is her voice is amazing!
... And my melting ...
Well, "as a french people" "-D , I may say her voice is pretty particular. The motion of this music is hold in a real different way. Sang differently, sang with different accent, but well, I am still chilling at hearing this song. Congrats...

Under the Paris Sky (Sous le ciel de Paris - English Transposition)
Under the Paris sky
Away does a song fly Hum, hum
It was born from today
In the heart of a guy
Under the Paris sky
Lovers quietly turn Hum, hum
Do their joys magnify
On this air made for them
The Bercy Bridge under
which sits a philosopher
Two musicians, some onlookers
Then people by clouds
Under the Paris sky
Hymn of a loving people hum, hum
Will be sung until night
For its city so old
Near Notre Dame
Sometimes there's drama.
Yes, but in Panam (1)
All works out like a charm
Just some shy rays
From summer sky
A sailor guy's
Accordion
The hope displays
Under the Paris sky
Under The Paris sky
Flows a joyful river
That makes sleep at night
All tramps and wanderers
Under the Paris sky
The good Lord's little birds
Are landing from worldwide
To chat with each other
And the sky of Paris
Has his (2) secret for him
For centuries his love has been
For our Île Saint Louis
When she smiles at him
Puts on him a coat of blue
But when it rains in Paris
That means he has the blues
When he is too jealous
Of her million lovers hum, hum
He does rumble on us
His dazzling thunder
But the sky of Paris
Is not for long cruel hum, hum
To be well forgiven
Offers rainbow in rule
1. "Panam" or "Paname" is the nickname given by Parisians to their city
2. I have deliberately used the personal pronouns "he" and "she" to speak of "the sky of Paris" and "L'île Saint Louis" because, in the song, they appear as full characters of the story that tells us this song, and not quite like simple places that one would name just to be geographically located. The song lends them feelings, as if they were real humans, much like how Walt Disney's animals were treated in his animated films.
.
:) You're welcome

Seeing everyone smiling and enjoying making beautiful music together was lovely.
It's a love song to Paris. English translation:
Beneath the Parisian sky
A song flutters away,
It was born today
In a young man's heart
Beneath the Parisian sky
Lovers walk about,
Their happiness built
Upon a tune made just for them
Beneath the Pont de Bercy
There's a seated philosopher
Two musicians and a few onlookers
And then people in the thousands
Beneath the Parisian sky
Will sing into the evening
The hymn of the people in love
With their old city
Near Notre Dame
Perhaps trouble's brewing
But in "Paname" everything gets worked out
A few rays
From the summer sky
The accordion
Of a sailor
Hope is blossoming
In the Parisian sky
Beneath the Parisian sky
A joyous river flows
That lulls the tramps
And beggars to sleep
Beneath the Parisian sky
God's birds
Come from around the world
To chat among themselves
The Parisian sky
Has its own secret
For twenty centuries it has been in love
With our Île Saint-Louis
When she smiles at him
He puts on his blue suit
When it rains over Paris
It's because he's sad
When he is jealous
Of her millions of lovers
He unleashes upon us
His roaring thunder
But the Parisian sky
Is not cruel for long
So that he may be forgiven
He offers a rainbow

Lovely lyrics
MERCI BIEN!
a song takes flight
Thanks forSharing theEnglish Translations
😇🕊👍👍
Lovely lyrics! There is though 4 verses that do not appear in this version, from "When she smiles at him" to "It's because he's sad".
I find it oddly soothing when Natalie sings in French
Or English. She is so cute. :)
I find it AMAZINGLY soothing when she sings in French and whoever commented she’s „cute“, she’s beautiful, good for Jack there a great team!!
YES !!! She and all the others are magical !
Ditto

hey, I’m commenting just so after 2 years you get to remember this song and fall in love once again ❤️
❤
Pomplamoose is my favorite music discover of this year!
+1 :)
Same for me!
Me too!
Yup.
Mhm!
I just love they way everyone in this group seems to be enjoying themselves so much.
Between the accordion, the strategically deployed harmonicas, and the succulent creme brule of the vocals, I am filled with delight.
My fav Pomplamoose music is when Natalie sings in French! I don't speak French but I just love it. :)
💯
I am French living in Ireland, I never been a fan of French music but I must say I have been moved by your work, Thanks
Having just discovered this wonderful group of such talented musicians I’m blown away by the singer and her natural ability to sing in French. They all look as though they are having the best time ever. I am so impressed by them, c’est formidable.❤
I'm on a marathon of covers from this channel, I'm supposed to be working but even my boss liked the band and now we are looking for some speakers so everyone can listen
Love you from south of France, Toulouse
Congratulations to the singer.
A perfect French language without the slightest accent.
A perfect American language (English in fact) without the slightest Texan sound.
😀
MAGNIFIQUE!
Oui Oui can't wait to share this with my wife who loves Edith Piaf
Nataly always looks so happy when singing French songs!
All French teachers should teach these songs with her singing....it is so engaging....
and they need to teach it with a harmonica...tout a fait...
Back in 1961 when I was in 3rd grade, they were teaching us FRENCH...I still remembered the teacher's face.
@@hirameberhardt8643 i did get to teach 3rd grade once!!! Bien sûr, of course that was way after 1961!
I learned English by listening to Pink Floyd.
@@kiadel7502 cool!!
My oh my what a beautiful rendition of such an evocative song she sings like an angel.
just a bunch of talented people making magic together
This is the sort of music which reflects something about how life on earth can be soooooo wonderful 🙏
Beaucoup d'amour!
Hubert Giraud (music) and Jean Dréjac (lyrics).
Beautiful language and song ... and singer too. 💝
Her French is surprisingly good for an American, as my untrained ears hear it. Usually Americans make a cockup of every language.
@@Piccodon She lived in France for some years when she was younger
@@maxserra2398 She also majored in French literature.
@@SkyaRuna my point was related to pronunciation, not how well she could read it.
This satisfies an unresolved destination in life, the French attitude.
Lovely way to study a language, through songs. Builds vocab, improves pronunciation, exposes one to the culture, plus you are having fun and discovering new artists. All Chakras open. Sing Learn Grow Love, then disappear in the breeze like a song.
I just discovered you guys and I can only say: THANK YOU! I became a fan and admirer. Thanks for rescuing the true music
From Brazil, Tony from Piracicaba, Sao Paulo
That feels perfect. A special nod to the accordion and harmonica, as well as, of course, Nataly...
I can’t never get tired of this song, made me want to visit Paris again.
Using this to try learn french
Moi aussi. I'm looking for some songs to learn french
that key change at the end. IT'S EVERYTHING
These songs should be mandatory listening for all the folks who put up the "No Good Music Any More" lines at most anything past 1970. This is superb musicianship on every level.
I love how even the instruments sound French, very beautiful song!
Elle a une sublime voix cette moeuf ❤️
I saw a wonderful women sing this song at a French Cafe at Montmartre. I just remembered the music and the hum and kept searching for this song. So happy to have found it!
I don’t speak French but I dream of a warm summer night and street lights on a stary night when i listen this song. Beautiful♥️
Just realized that the lyrics mentions a summer night. 🎈
I can not believe!! Precious voice that of this girl I just met her, and after six or seven songs dazzled me and now in French !! , to an old man like me who heard all this song by legends like Ives Montand to find this gem so well interpreted by these musicians unknown to me but who already conquered me, thank you guys for this memory, the impeccable version can not be asked for more.
❤AAAAAHH I’m obsessed with this song!
♥️♥️♥️♥️
I will not repeat to you all the good that I have already said about the song of Brassens.
Singing Brassens was a challenge, but singing Piaf was a very big challenge ! Both for the musicians and for the singer, it is a flawless for everyone.
It is superb, fresh and moving. And what a good idea to have invited the harmonica player !
Congratulations to everybody !
PS: I also really appreciated "Tainted love".
Can't understand single word but this music is beautiful ❤
and the lyrics too 🙂
Beautiful French song I listened in my childhood but has not listened in years. It is Timeless and very good to hear.
Every french : speaking in french without any accent is quite something,
Nataly : what about singing beautifully in french with no accent at all ?
*Nataly ... en fait.
Vincent LE DU
Pas faux !
and what about being delightful and singing beautifully in french with no accent at all ?
Aw, this brings me back to discovering my grandmothers Edith Piaf albums.... natalie , you sound like you are twirling through the phrases, so lovely. Great musicianship from all too. Between this and scary pockets becoming golden ...dang good releases today!!! Thank you❤️
Aye scary pockets and pomp fans!
Sous le ciel de Paris
S'envole une chanson
Hum hum
Elle est née d'aujourd'hui
Dans le cœur d'un garçon
Sous le ciel de Paris
Marchent des amoureux
Hum hum
Leur bonheur se construit
Sur un air fait pour eux
Sous le pont de Bercy
Un philosophe assis
Deux musiciens, quelques badauds
Puis les gens par milliers
Sous le ciel de Paris
Jusqu'au soir vont chanter
Hum hum
L'hymne d'un peuple épris
De sa vieille cité
Près de Notre Dame
Parfois couve un drame
Oui mais à Paname
Tout peut s'arranger
Quelques rayons
Du ciel d'été
L'accordéon
D'un marinier
L'espoir fleurit
Au ciel de Paris
Mais le ciel de Paris
A son secret pour lui
Depuis vingt siècles il est épris
De notre Île Saint Louis
Quand il est trop jaloux
De ses millions d'amants
Il fait gronder sur nous
Son tonnerre éclatant
Mais le ciel de Paris
N'est pas longtemps cruel
Pour se faire pardonner
Il offre un arc-en-ciel
Merci beaucoup

merci mademoiselle valtorinee.
Stunning version! I love this band, their humour, musicianship and good taste ❤
As a Frenchman, I’m every time flabbergasted by Nataly’s incredibly perfect pronunciation of my own language!
she mentioned in one of the earlier French songs that she lived over there (Belgium? I can't quite recall) for several years as a youngster ;)
Brett B I know she did and I believe in France too. Still, that’s no guarantee to catch all the subtleties that will make you sound like a local!
"Born October 29, 1986, in Sacramento, California, the daughter of missionaries, Dawn spent much of her childhood in Europe, where she attended schools in France and Belgium before returning to the United States to study art and French literature at Stanford University."
Franchement bravo !
Et musicalement c’est top, congrats to you all guys 👏👏👏
"Born October 29, 1986, in Sacramento, California, the daughter of missionaries, Dawn spent much of her childhood in Europe, where she attended schools in France and Belgium before returning to the United States to study art and French literature at Stanford University."
@@eliarne6405 I just thought it was nice she didn't do a Piaf impression. I know that's not her style -- I've been folowing them since before they became Ponplamoose -- but the temptation has to be there.

You sing those French songs so well and with a perfect accent..
The highest form of romanticism is always about Paris, just like this song.
The most heavenly rendition of this tune I have ever experienced! I purchased it the moment I saw this video! I am stunned by the beauty of this performance! And it seems, judging by the smiles on the faces of these talented artists, that they understand that they are making something celestial! Thank you so much for this beauty!!
