- To celebrate handing back the keys to my house we headed to Skipton for a night out. We had an Indian meal and a few too many drinks but got safely back to our tiny van for a good nights sleep.

Dude. When parking at night. Blend in. Industrial estates is where you expect to find a van.
Residential areas are ok as long as you are not overlooked by houses, find a blind spot. Find 14 spots and rotate through them, staying only 1 night.
Go to bed at 10pm get up 7-8am.
You will need a peep hole to see when it is clear to get in and out of your van. It only takes one righteous Karen to see you getting out of your van and you will lose that sleeping spot.

At last, a youtube channel with a normal down-to-earth bloke, showing the real transition to van life. No fancy editing, no ponsey music introductions. No van build in my mates/ dads garage using daddys tools / skills etc.... you all know who i mean. Good luck to you James and Helen.

Nice to see someone that actually shows these things as it really is rather than the fantasy version. Definitely watching this channel going forward as I'm also joining the way of life at the end of February due to my rental being sold and sick of the way things are. I have disabilities and health issues
I make my awning for it.
Folding bed and I've made three power stations which charge of solar panels. (By watching RUclips videos)
I'm following you since making my camper I've taking up walking and I've lost 3 stone in weight.

So glad your channel popped up and most definitely subscribed and look forward to future content. Three years ago I was living in a 2 man tent and had been for five years. Now housed again I often look back and think I was happier then than now because i felt free from stressful 'modern/normal life' . Stick at the van life. Routine, organisation and
becoming adjusted to the life will be become a natural way and you probably won't realise it is happening. Stay safe.

I grew up in Skipton, get yourself up to Malham and into the dales that will lift your spirits when you are not feeling van life.
That's exactly what we did and the video is coming soon 😀

I get it James, you want a pub to have a bit of life, but not over the top busy. Might as well be in the Leeds town centre on a Saturday night otherwise. Had a few good nights in Skipton me sen. Helens great fun, your a bit quiter and more serious but a great combination. Love it.

Charity shops are brilliant. I regulary pick up vynil albums and just bought some sheffield silver plate edwardian tea set for £12.99 selling in antique shops for nearly £500 😳. It was a shocker.

Hello new subscriber here I have just watched one of your vids where you moved into your van due to the cost of living. They way things are now is terrible and we are in the same boat I have recently broke my leg so I can't work and found out it's not healing so gonna have to go for another operation which is putting me back again we are a family of 4 and we rent to and I am also had enough of having no money and putting every last pound into bills etc we are looking at getting a caravan soon as our budget is very slim I would love a van but we'll out of our price so wanting a caravan for getting out and about and also for emergencies if we have to move out we also have a RUclips channel where we go camping in a tent but now with me leg the tent is put away until I know I can use it again but life right now is extremely hard for everyone and I admire you for taking this huge step to try and make the most out of life well you take care all the best (The Ellmers Adventures)

Discovered your channel just before Christmas. Both you and Helen are so genuine and funny my Mrs and I can’t stop watching. My Mrs and I are the same except we don’t own a van so rely on weekends away when we can. Love the variety of both together and your solo videos around the northern towns. Visit Oldham I would love to see your thoughts on that.

Cracking video guys ..love stealth parking up on the edge of a new village /town and exploring pubs /shops sites great content and well done Helen she makes an ideal van girl 👍 I’m interested to see how long the small van lasts mine was 6mths in a t4 / being able to stand up in a bigger van (Boxer now ) was a game changer ,diesel heater essential as well mould condensation

I live on a boat with my partner. But I also have a little Suzuki Carry Van which I often sleep in when I work away. It's amazing how comfortable you can be in a tiny space. The cold can be a problem as I have no heating in my van apart from when you have the engine on. Otherwise, it's great. Boats are better though! Good luck. ✌️❤️

I had a Bedford Rascal van for ten years and loved it, I had it semi kitted out for sleeping in and had a shelf across the back end with a camp cooker on to make some small meals and a brew and with the back door opening upwards you could be dry to cook if it started to rain.
