once you have a dirty hovel, with people behaving badly. you lose any respect, and any argument you may have to stay, it's a sad fact. if you have a basic home with basics the a bath, and toilet, that is kept neat, maybe a few plants, your wish to stay is much stronger and more likely to be respected.

It’s actually had a nasty impact on the caravan lane’s inhabitants due to unsolicited attention being bought onto them. Journalistic curiosity is a great thing, but only with the consent of all who are being documented.
@@basling Totally agree, although it would be pretty hard to determine consent from every single person affected (unless they're featured in the video). What kind of 'nasty impact' has been going on?
In a few years time there will be more places like this. I am 68 and when my adult son leaves home I 🏡 will not be able to afford to stay in the house I am living in unless I go into debt. I have never been in debt and never will be nor do I expect my children to provide me with a home. I have worked since my eary teens and have lived a modest lifestyle, now I am slowly selling my posessions and saving every penny to buy a van. There will be many, yound and old facing the same future as me.
@@bbuzz1687I think it will become increasingly common. People who’ve been unable to purchase a house are faced with ever increasing private rents given the lack of social housing. Those rents might be just about affordable when working but aren’t affordable on a state pension. There aren’t enough smaller housing association homes on reduced rent to go around, housing benefit doesn’t cover all the costs, etc.
That was an excellent video. I've visited Glastonbury since the early 1970s, but I think you've manage to capture something very important about the state of Britain - and the British State - in the early 21st century through your report.
This is such excellent coverage of the situation in Glastonbury. We know that there are not enough affordable houses and not enough council run houses for the population of the UK. What are people supposed to do? But I can imagine how difficult this is for local people who are seeing the place they chose to live changing so dramatically. Sadly our new government is only going to make the housing situation worse. I despair. Thank you for this Joe.
No government can afford to build houses, schools, hospitals etc etc unless there are enough people going to work and paying taxes - our pension system is on the verge of collapse for example. If those people want an alternative lifestyle to the majority, who should be paying for it ?
What do you expect when in the last 25 years we have had more people come to live in the country then in the last 2000 year history! the numbers are unsustainable and the infrastructure is not there to support all these new arrivals housing is not there either you simply can’t build enough homes to keep up I believe at the moment they building 100,000 new homes a year but last year alone we had a net influx of just under 700,000 people! And that’s not including everyone that’s only the ones they know about. So not only have you not touched the demanded you have increased it by 600,000 in just one year and these numbers are only increasing with each passing year. That’s not even mentioning or getting into the types of people that are coming in and the problems they are causing it’s basically bankrupting the country.
The level of entitlement is rank. Just fucking up peoples towns because you can’t be arsed to work and lean on ‘alternative lifestyle’ as a way of justifying it. And I say this an aging lefty.
I agree. I was worried at first that he was going to give homeless people a hard time, but I was pleased to hear he’s been to Christiania in Copenhagen and likes it there. Of every community in the whole of Europe Christiania is my favourite. It feels like people actually get excited about where they live because the government isn’t pissing on them with building laws, they build what they want and are very happy. Summary: rich people get jealous when poor people appear to have easier lives so they make laws to sabotage certain communities of free thinkers from growing
@@thegenius8817 it reminds me very much of the squat/traveller scene in England in the seventies and early eighties, before Thatcher and the Tories found ways to make it illegal or impossible. If local councils don't have the funds to redevelop empty properties and are prepared to turn a blind eye to the various health and safety legislation being ignored, what harm does it do? You can at least take people away from sleeping rough in city centres and you may just end up with vibrant, creative communities like Christiania. Either way, with the huge numbers of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees being added to those who desperately need housing, something positive has to be done to avert this crisis.

You can say that people choose to live like this. But at an average of about £1k for some crap one bedroom flat plus parking plus outrageous council tax and utility bills. Unless you have children you'd have to be an absolute moron to spend your (probable) one and only life working to pay a landlord's mortgage. It's only going to get worse. Housing should be a basic fundamental right in a wealthy country, not some luxury to be traded and horded. Don't pay. Tune in, drop out.

Hey Joe. I was at Christiania in Copenhagen way back over forty years ago. It changed my life. I was in Copenhagen for an aviation conference as an aviation executive. I lived a very material life. I spent just one day at Christiania and it changed my life. Within a year of being there I had given up my material life and moved to Brighton where I became the frontman of a folk rock band and had a head full of locks. It was good in Copenhagen back then. All these pretty little houses all painted in pastel colours. Everyone was so friendly and open and everything was done by barter - you door squeaks. I'll fix it for a kilo of potatoes'. People with work outside the community gave some of their wages into the upkeep and maintenance. There were absolutely no hard drugs then. Now there are. It's sad the way the UK and many other places have declined badly. There were enough homeless in Brighton when I was there and too many hard drugs. I eventually left Brighton in 1996. I've been back a few times and was shocked at the amount of homeless and hard drugs users now. I don't think there will ever be an end to homelessness as there will never be enough accommodation to house people and the more austere life becomes, the more homelessness will happen. I now live a real basic life in a little house in Normandy which is like another planet compared to the UK.
Normandy, France? France is turning into a totalitarian state too. Like UK and other EU countries. Yeah, Brighton sucks. It looks very run down and people overthere look severely depressed. Spiritually awful place.
It's what gives Glastonbury it's vibe , it's an awesome little town with loads of characters & most people you meet are friendly, more so than any other town I've been in the country. Love this place ❤️
No, they kill the town. "vibe" is a very elastic word, it means a feeling that is personal to you and everyone experiences 'vibe' differently. Glastonbury's character comes from the Tor, the Chalice well, The white spring, the history of what industrious people built there long before hippies even existed. The hippies try to claim what was already there as theirs and they ruin it for the decent, well behaved folk who would visit.
I live in Liverpool, I’m shocked by the amount of empty buildings and boarded up houses when there are so many people who are homeless. Where else are the people meant to go, because they don’t own anything they’re not wanted or deemed as a nuisance 😥 what a way to run a country
i agrree when i live din kent i could not get a council house when the private rented house I lived in was being sold, I they said their were none available I said , I worked all over and can tell them where there is at least 50 council houses boarded up, they said these are reserved for migrants exactly those words each local council I was told had to keep at least 400 vacant property empty
They could be put up in the hotels and social housing which seems to be gifted to foreign nationals who never chipped in a single penny to the country. It's beyond heartbreaking. Their grandparents didn't fight for this.
I hope those two guys from Manchester get proper safe housing. I quite liked the zigzag building, its the sort of place I would have lived in when i was young, but as you get older, a warm home with a shower and inside loo is really important.
They won't. They are on the bottom of the pile and there are many, many more 'deserving' cases above them. For as long as I can remember this has been the case. If you are young and male you are expected to shift for yourself.
I hope the disused area and the zig zag building can continue to be a home for the people that have created a safe place for themselves to live. They have made useable the derelict and uncared for spaces, which is more that the council have done. It about time we started looking after our indigenous population and work together to create a better liveable space and not ‘just’ a barely survivable one. The disused area was obviously cared for by the people living there and they are enhancing that space by keeping it free from neglect. There was some lovely creations taking place in that zig zag building, people with obvious gifts and talents. That should be encouraged and not demonised. I wish them all a happy safe heaven and the best of outcomes. 🕊️🍀🕊️ Just subscribed 😊
@@soundsoflife9549 Hi, It’s very sad and I hope that changes sooner rather than later. Everyone that respects their home and surroundings deserves a safe place to live.
@@donna9679 Hi, thank you. It’s so sad that those who obviously care are being treated so poorly. Those empty derelict places would only become dumping grounds and become more contaminated. I wish them well and hope for once that the council connect with their humanity and common sense for once. I remember hearing of a neighbourhood that turned a waste area and dumping ground into a lovey community garden, it was loved by all and made the area a much healthier and happier place to be. The council made them rip at all out because they didn’t give permission for it. Utter insanity, absolutely unconscionable, nonsensical and heartbreaking. I hope these people fair better.🤞🏼
Lived there for nearly 20 years until about 3 weeks ago, such a shame I missed you! Would have been happy to give you a great insight and shown you around. Hope you enjoyed your stay, I don't think much of the place but it has a warm place in many peoples hearts.
Thanks for this. Brilliant journalism. Well done the owner of the Zig Zag building. That community needs more funding. They have done some good things and need help to repair and paint. Councils must act to protect people...residents and homeless ones. The lock up yard is a great concept and being used in the US. Councils designate a site, provide shower & toilet blocks and safe sites for people to park and live. This forms a community and the residents then run it themselves. Also in the US there are councils designing and running tiny house enclaves where each homeless person has their own new little wooden home and ablution blocks are provided. We need to look out for each other more. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention. All the best!

15 years ago I lived aboard a boat, my dad suggested he buy me a cheap caravan to move ashore and avoid the difficulties of boat dwelling. @@Westhamsterdam Yep, propaganda rags like the Metro and Guardian are constantly running nonsense articles with young 20 somethings, aboard their huge wide beam in central London, talking about how they dodged the need for a mortgage deposit and can go wherever they feel. In reality, most cant afford a mooring so will be on a continuous cruising licence, so will need to move every 2 weeks and cover 20 odd miles in one direction every year. Being on the canals in London means you can look forward to your property being ethnically diversified regularly, and as the towpaths are dimly lit with no escape, the chances of having them personally redistribute your wealth is high too. Unless you've got £50k or more, you're going to be on a boat that needs constant attention too. Leave Mordor... Hi 👋 from the US 🇺🇸. I was quite shocked to see this . We too have a homeless problem. Most take up residence in tents ⛺️. We have tent ⛺️ cities across the US. Most of which are evicted right a way . The city sends in bulldozers, authorities, cops .... We need more affordable housing for them . Unfortunately here in the US these tents ⛺️ cities are full of drug addicted people and some with mental health issues. We really need to help our citizens for housing, mental health, joblessness, and drug addiction. None of this caravan cities or tents cities will be resolved until to get to root of those problems. 😢 thanks Joe 🇺🇸♥️🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴
agree Joe. Prefab housing is so low cost, the issue is land availability which in UK will be down to state and the local councils. As always, its the people with the power to change it who refuse to provide the fix.
Hi Joe . I have been to Christiania too and it has been successful for many years . What I believe is a community can live and exist in peace with rules and I would rather these places than seeing people struggling on the streets . At least they have something to do than nothing to live For .
It's a mental asylum . Dark energy , most alcohol drinking demon possessed . ....having experienced all of it for three years including eviction notices .

My heart goes out to these people who are just trying to survive in the sinking hulk that is modern Britain. It amazes me that not even one of the thousands of multimillionaires in the UK has enough empathy to reach out and help fellow humans who are struggling to survive.
Prime minister Keir Starmer has just promised 30 billion to Ukraine which is enough to house every homeless person in the UK. We have to decide to prioritise our own people and house them.
30 billion huh? Now imagine being an American taxpayer, here are some of the global aid numbers from TWO BILLS ALONE during the fiscal year 2024, as per the the United States Agency for International Development: Israel, 310 billion Egypt, 168 billion Afghanistan, 158 billion South Vietnam, 144 billion Ukraine, 113 billion South Korea, 95 billion United Kingdom, 88 billion ... Remember, this is no where near a complete list(in fact I only included the interesting ones because I'd be here typing all day to include everything). *This is ONLY our 2024 aid from TWO BILLS passed on March 23rd and April 26th respectively.* So imagine you're an American taxpayer and some British guy on the internet is making fun of you because you "can't afford healthcare," when your country has given his country 88 billion dollars over 2 months time in 2024 alone. There were plenty of caravans and wild dogs howling at night 25 yrs ago when I was up there often for a weekend or week in my tent. I mixed with some of the homeless, and they seemed really sweet. I know the situations changing now...there looks more caravans, and the drug and homeless issues...and mh issues... are all much worse. The govts we had ran the country down from the 70s and 80s...and friendly communities that had resources for everyone are non existent now. Public baths closing, sports facilities closing...care facilities closing...Housing issues, employment issues and so on, on the increase...then add immigration problems...the country is imploding and it's unsettling for everyone. Glastonbury itself is an unusual place...it has high spiritual energies that attracts people, unaware of its spiritual significance and meaning, although they sense something and it draws them. Then it has the music festival, and it has the Tor, the Abbey, the Wells, and other sacred places, and quite a decent size shopping centre that reflects the spiritual core of the town. It's a shame there is not the money to upgrade the caravans, and develop those buildings and sites...the people seemed respectable...but without resources, it can seem like a losing battle. Thank for the video.
As a resident of Glastonbury I could say a lot about this subject. We do our best to cater for the homeless community here and as far as I am aware, the new proposals from the Town Council include a new area, properly set up, for them. On the other hand, the Zag Zag building was sold to the guy who owns it for peanuts, with the proviso that it would be restored and used for ‘workshops’ and a meeting area for the Local inhabitants. It was NEVER meant to be used by the homeless community to squat in, which is basically what they are doing. We are a teeny, tiny Town and the problem has got so bad (ie, drugs, drinking, loitering, mess, disorderly conduct) that we can’t support this many van etc dwellers. Regardless of what the ‘nice’ people say, many of them are a problem.
It is interesting situation as I guess the Farmer who sold out Glastonbury town is fundermentally to blame... he put the sleepy town on the international map... Maybe he should be taxed to provide help for the town and its "new" problems caused by his business venture... But I am sure the town loves the new festival business and a few people made a huge amount of money... this is life unfortunately...you can't have good fortune without a little payback.. Unfortunately...the normal residents are paying the price...

You can’t keep using the immigrant argument, it’s known to be a complete myth about them having houses etc. They can’t have a house that doesn’t exist and like everyone else they are caught up in a situation where not enough social housing exists. Before I get jumped on I’m not a sympathizer I’m just reacting to opinions based on untruths. We need more social housing and we need more places where people such as these featured can live an alternative life without fear of being assaulted and moved on every few days. When will the UK wake up and realise the dodgy, corrupt politicians and councils are to blame. I suppose immigrants are to blame for inner city decline, sewage being pumped into the rivers and sea, the decline in public services, transport, NHS…you name it. It is shocking how stupid and ignorant people are in the UK.
@@pauli2169it’s not a lie. Illegal migrates get given hotels and housing. That’s not all of them granted as a lot are unknown but the ones in the system definitely get these benefits.
One of the causes of homelessness in Cornwall in particular is people from the city's , London, etc, who buy property for use as holiday homes for 2 or 3 weeks of the year, this causes local property prices to skyrocket to a point where local people can't afford a home in the town where they were born where their family have lived for generations, this has been a problem for decades.
This is fundamentally what needs to change, globally - live in 1 house. Towns and parishes could set the number of dwellings that could be used for accommodation and that would be the maximum limit for that town or parish. It would reduce the need for house building significantly. Why won’t this happen? Because buying houses is a good way to hide wealth. I have friends who have been kicked out of rented property so that the owner could turn it into an Airbnb, meaning these places are empty. It’s sickening.

Joe, you are a legend for shining a different light upon situations like this. It is no surprise more and more people find themselves homeless and helpless in this country. It is their vilification that often keeps them down and unable to see hope. It seems to me that this is their only hope. However, in a country obsessed with land ownership and possessed with a very negative view of traveling folk, I can only see this ending one way. Money is power is the sad truth and they will be forced to leave. Nobody will care that they may die on the streets just so long as they're gone. I really hope many more people see this kind and considerate piece. You are completely none divisive and that is a precious commodity in these times. Much love x
I find the ZIGZAG building beautiful. May they stay. It is so difficult but if the rubbish + unoccupied vans + caravans were removed - regularly - it would make a big difference. I am in South Somerset there is room for ALL.
They haven’t got any money to clear up they don’t work and our council has gone bankcrupt ,so who can pay for all the vehicles to be removed and it all cleared up regularly? And we have got a few thousand immigrants coming to the area so I’m not so sure there is space for us all any more to be honest ,that’s why half of this lot are homesless ??
Amazing insight, I lived in Street over 10 years ago and have visited Street/Glastonbury frequently since so have seen this all roll out. Power to these people, especially the people just trying to make use of the would-be abandoned areas. ❤
Exactly. My son was a heroin addict for fourteen years. Lived in an old container for a lot of the time but he always kept it tidy and clean. Likewise an old homeless guy stayed in an old shed on a motorway service station. Local’s used to make his life more comfortable by giving him useful stuff. Christmas presents even. One day he packed up and moved on. But he left everything as tidy as possible.
I live in a van in this video, close to the zig zag. I've been here a year so still fresh but aware enough to know that the same problems in the uk are reflected here in the state of housing and homlessness. Becasue a lot of people are drawn here in the alternative spectrum its much easier to accept living in a van or caravan. Sadly because caravans are easier to anomalously dwell in they do tend to get abandoned as occupants often aren't earning enough to keep them in good shape and the amount of trashed caravans are growing. With some aligned community efforts and new policy these issues could easily be managed and improved on, but as mentioned in this video, the council wont bend, mostly because they're bound by the same legalities that plague the whole of the UK. I live in a van, own a local buisness and have to accept this way of living. Not out of choice, but becasue the current system simply doesnt have a route for me to build and live in an environmentally sustainable building on my own land. Its shocking. This town is totally magic, the people who live here are kind and exciting, so many marvelous minds and wonderful people. We need land/planning and housing policy change, ideally before this country implodes from within!
Wow..I used to pop over to Glasto every few years and havent been back properly for ten or so...really spiralled out of control there with the caravans. Why don’t the council put them in a big field with toilets and showers. Evidently these people would be homeless. It’s a terrible situation in the UK now.
The council don’t do much for residents that are paying them through council taxes. So they definitely won’t put anything up for people paying nothing. The cost of living is absurd in somerset(to be fair it is everywhere) with rent sky rocketing, the 40% homeless figure isn't surprising, but is saddening, with so little well paid work in the area that allign with the rental demands (which as a single occupier would take up to 3/4 of your salary/wages) means if you're born working class here and don't move to or within commuting distance of bristol / bath you can get shafted fast.

In the UK, an occupier may acquire 'Squatters' Rights,' or 'Adverse Possession,' after 10-12 years of continuous residence, potentially leading to long-term legal ownership. Authorities often evict individuals before they reach this threshold, thereby preventing any claim to ownership. The first eviction I became aware of occurred in the early 1980s at a farm in southeast England, where the occupants had lived for 11 years and were integrated into the local community, including schools and other social connections. Such evictions can have lasting, detrimental effects on family life, social ties, education, and employment.
"after 10-12 years of continuous residence, potentially leading to long-term legal ownership". The 'potential' part, is if the person's occupancy of a resisdence IS NEVER questioned during that period. "Authorities often evict individuals before they reach this threshold" Yes, because during that period, they WERE questioned, and found to NOT be the legitimate owners. It's really quite simple. 🤦♂
Meanwhile in the northern town where I live there are plenty of empty houses. You can buy a terraced house for £70k, a three bedroom semi for £100k and average monthly private rent is £600. This is not only the consequences of not enough housing on a national level but also of not levelling up and regional inequality. When towns like where I live are left behind and in the top third of most deprived towns, when they've got nothing but minimum wage, low skilled jobs nobody from outside wants to come and live here because it is not seen as a place to come to make a good life. We are also losing much of our own young as many go into further education, get professional qualifications and then subsequently have to move away to those already overrun cities like Bristol or London in search of those professional jobs they want. So our young are making the housing shortages in those more sought after locations even worse. I think this is one reason why the plans for a new housing estate to be built on the edge of the town I live in have been kicked into the long grass. What's the point in building more houses in a place where they can't even sell the existing houses? Even though there's a massive national shortage of housing, there's no point in building new ones in northern towns like mine where nobody wants to come to live. I believe that if the better quality, skilled jobs were spread out more evenly across the entire country then the people would naturally spread out more and the property hotspot areas such as Bristol and London could be somewhat relieved just by this better usage of the housing we already have. It's simply crazy that we have some places where there's 60 people all fighting over one tiny flat at £3000 per month rent when in some northern towns there's entire rows of empty, boarded up houses they can't sell for any amount.
Here in Nelson we have houses going from as little as 45k. They may not be in tip top condition but they are good starter homes where you can do them up and perhaps resell to get a bigger house.
Thank you for taking the time to post your informative insights. I had previously read similar regarding a northern town - in that particular one the source of income - mines - had closed down back in '80s I think - and no investment. Are the local councillors any good?
Digital nomads should consider buying these houses. They can work from anywhere, need to get on the housing ladder and will inject money into the local economy.
@@ness-ee that is a very good idea. From what I have seen the areas are a bit 'dubious' and single female might feel vulnerable. But you would only have to have a few of these digital nomads move in and the area would start to come up as a trendy (don't know if that is the right word) oasis. It would be a good investment - house might need a bit of work though. If council own them I wonder if they have them for sale. Too many questions, not enough answers.
I can appreciate that a lot of people choose this way of life but also a lot out of necessity due to the parasitical government we have. I pay over £300 in rates a month for fock all and on top of that pay tax, vat, duty on everything I buy and when I die the focking government feeds off me again with inheritance tax. The only people the residents of the houses should be complaining to en masse is their useless and parasitical m.p. and local council, but then you know they do not give a shat as long as the rates and taxes keep flowing. Good on these travellers keeping a roof over their head and not giving the government any more of their money than they have to, respect.
I tend to agree with you but the ones that really, really piss me off are those that claim they are living a free, individual, alternative lifestyle and want the taxpayer to pay for them to live it.
You don't pay for nothing - you pay for refuse, adult and children social care, emergency services, schools, local amenities, street lighting etc etc Paying for the basic structures in society is key to living in a developed country. Try living in places that don't have any local government infrastructure and see how you like that.

This is what happens when you make it virtually impossible to get a house. The councillors could easily provide land with basic facilities and put a stop to this immediately, but they won’t because all they want is as much money as they can get their hands on.

The zigzag building must definitely stay! they chose to do it in Glastonbury to be near their kind. many could get housing more easily in another area but it would require not hanging out with their friends on the Tor every day and they don't want to give that up and get into the mindset that they should be accomadated
There are empty properties in some areas which nobody wants to live in, so eventually refugees are sent there - it happened on some Scottish islands, because the properties were empty for years and no British people wanted to live on those islands, so refugees were put there AFTER Brits didn't want to. I am in no way in favour of refugees, beggars etc, but I am only pointing out that there actually are some empty properties available if people are willing to relocate.

@benjaminollis7621 The UK would slide into recession without immigration. The issues in no particular order are - the fact there has been very little social housing built in the last 30 years, Brexit's continued impact on UK businesses & resulting loss of tax revenue, the criminal lack of investment in the countries infrastructure, the increase in importance of the profit motive illustrated by privatisation and outsourcing of public services that provide virtually no value to the population but is expensive and unreliable to consumers, in need of regular bailouts using public money whilst returning healthy dividends to shareholders. James mate, 700 people came into the country today alone. As long as there are more people coming in to the country than houses we can build, houses will always have a ridiculously high price. In addition the labour market is flooded which brings wages down! By the way were out of land for building new homes hence why they infill building in peoples gardens etc.

You can at least take people away from sleeping rough in city centres and you may just end up with vibrant, creative communities like Christiania.

Party agree but if we where homeless how long before we went insane or drugs

My heart goes out to these people who are just trying to survive in the sinking hulk that is modern Britain. It amazes me that not even one of the thousands of multimillionaires in the UK has enough empathy to reach out and help fellow humans who are struggling to survive.
Prime minister Keir Starmer has just promised 30 billion to Ukraine which is enough to house every homeless person in the UK. We have to decide to prioritise our own people and house them.
30 billion huh? Now imagine being an American taxpayer, here are some of the global aid numbers from TWO BILLS ALONE during the fiscal year 2024, as per the the United States Agency for International Development:
Israel, 310 billion
Egypt, 168 billion
Afghanistan, 158 billion
South Vietnam, 144 billion
Ukraine, 113 billion
South Korea, 95 billion
United Kingdom, 88 billion

Well said.
Successful governments don't have a heart for the poor.
In Biblical terms,if you do that-you're out!
This is a much more accurate reflection on the town .

Before I get jumped on I’m not a sympathizer I’m just reacting to opinions based on untruths.
Also true for the Lake District too 😢
This is fundamentally what needs to change, globally - live in 1 house.

I’ve just subscribed. I watched another of your vids and you do brilliant investigating reporting. This is more real than anything the news can do today. Keep up the good work.
Yeah could get a job like
Meanwhile in the northern town where I live there are plenty of empty houses.
Hull?
You don't pay for nothing - you pay for refuse, adult and children social care, emergency services, schools, local amenities, street lighting etc etc
Paying for the basic structures in society is key to living in a developed country. Try living in places that don't have any local government infrastructure and see how you like that.

Glastonbury is an alternative place, and has been that way for decades, so it can be expected to have some people living alternative lifestyles. Some local people will moan about anyone different.
Anyone should be able to live as a NOMAD. Everyone has a right to shelter + water. Let them KEEP THE COAL YARD!
Truth .
But there's nothing in it, for the parasitic elite.
Nope. Drinking water is not free.
@@madwhitehare3635It is in Glastonbury, two springs.
@madwhitehare they would tax the air if they could….. water like air is a basic necessity, it should be free.
Super fascinating video, thanks for showing us the land.
Whilst the millions of migrants are living in 5 star hotels. Great. God bless, thanks for the content.
Can you provide a statistic that supports that there are millions of migrants...?
Not ‘millions’ and not living in ‘five star hotels’ either, stop stirring the hate.
@@chris6559stop coping and look at the figures... Yes it's millions and yes there are 5 star hotels. How much tax payers money was spent on just interpreters in 2022?
@@chris6559 Just because you've sipped the cool-aid or been lucky enough to live in a relatively unaffected area doesn't mean the rest of us will be gaslit into denying the negative experiences we've had or what we've seen with our own eyes due to mass migration.
@@djohnson9857 well that's interesting. I live in a place where there's lots of immigration. I work with people from all over the world who have come here, no problems, very happy, all really nice people. I guess you're going to quote anecdotal evidence of immigrants causing crime, but I bet you can't find any to suggest that immigrants are more likely to cause crime than native British people. Prove me wrong
We visited Glastonbury last week and went to the top of the Tor and the town. We never saw any of this and I am surprised that this exists.
It was because of your Wells video that we spent couple of days in Somerset ❤
Thank you for listening to everyone and I agree - there needs to be better communication and meeting in the middle so that spaces can be found to house the caravans but with better regulation and communication
Millions of pounds a day for foreigners though

The government forgets their own people
Ignorant comments when people have no clue as to the effects of long term astuerty measures ,cost of living crisis,Brexit and Recession ,The economic demographic of the UK has been very stretched beyond sustainable levels its nothing to do with immigration
@@minigrande1939 😂
@benjaminollis7621 The UK would slide into recession without immigration. The issues in no particular order are - the fact there has been very little social housing built in the last 30 years, Brexit's continued impact on UK businesses & resulting loss of tax revenue, the criminal lack of investment in the countries infrastructure, the increase in importance of the profit motive illustrated by privatisation and outsourcing of public services that provide virtually no value to the population but is expensive and unreliable to consumers, in need of regular bailouts using public money whilst returning healthy dividends to shareholders. They love that you are moaning about immigrants while the NHS and other public assets are sold to hedge funds.
Awesome vid Joe really interesting
Steve Hillage was singing about the Electric Gypsy's in the 1970s and here we are in 2024
Neil Neil Orange Peel played it at a party in ‘the young ones’, in a scene that begins with the words ‘Get the tit off your head!’
I was looking at the video and thought : gypsy's strike back.
Motivation Radio - pretty good album ✌🏻

I lived in my van for two years and a caravan for 3. Never made a mess or caused any trouble.
Good on you for showing it as it really is.
I love this channel, so well explain. I have nothing to do with small town Britain 🇬🇧 but you make it so interesting. Hope thing gets better.
That was some fantastic filming and access. Nice job, very well presented! This was a side of Glastonbury I just didn't know anything about.
UK is incredibly difficult to live in, this is a symptom! I'll bet these people have a greater peace of mind than the rest of us who are running on the hamster wheel every bloody day!
Yes and no, Nimbys eventually get jealous and evict the lot of them. Get back on the hamster wheel how dare you escape.
I live in my van (never overnight in the same spot more than a couple of nights) and I do feel bad for people on thar hamster wheel. My lifestyle is so cheap I can afford to work very part time :)
@@fernwehneunzehn I'm truly glad, and proud of you! May you have a blessed life!
@@jamescpalmer Remember this: The hamster choosed when/if he runs, and has that little plastic roof guaranteed for life. If we stop running we loose ours.
Government don’t want people to reject their system. In general people who opt out of the normal way, don’t watch tv, don’t pay the excess taxes (barring income tax if earning enough or vat) and don’t over consume.
However through government policy they are creating exactly the conditions that eventually free more people from their control.
I love all your content Joe .. thankyou.. im Bristol born and bread ..I think the council are trying to remove the vans from the downs ..my brother who lives near St George’s park said they seem to be moving there .. even in fishponds I’ve noticed people are living in vans .. but If the choice is the streets or a van I know what I and probably most would all choose..
you are doing so well with telling these important stories.
A truly startling video! Well done! We need to see such social contrasts! God protect the people!
Property prices are absolutely shocking and people need somewhere to live, ideally a settlement like this should bring prices down to a reasonable level.
Not sure anyone really cares.
James mate, 700 people came into the country today alone. As long as there are more people coming in to the country than houses we can build, houses will always have a ridiculously high price. In addition the labour market is flooded which brings wages down! By the way were out of land for building new homes hence why they infill building in peoples gardens etc.
@@cw3728 There's a strange irony isn't there, if I was a betting man I'd say that most of the people living like this are relatively low skilled or qualified in anything marketable, and would lean towards labour and socialist ideology. Yet they seem completely incapable of making the connection between millions of low skilled foreign nationals arriving in the last few years alone, and their inability to find work and access public services, welfare or housing. Voters prove that democracy doesn't work.
Meanwhile, new arrivals to these shores get accommodated at the tax-payers' expense....
No they don't.

Looks like a home to me, great how they brought so many interesting things to enrich the site. I propose it should be bought for them to live permanently in and plumb it in.
Awesome Joefish. Loved family pics. ,great coverage.
It was bad when I lived there 17 years ago, Tons of people said they were having a spiritual awakening that consisted of living on government tick and getting drunk and high every day and night. I can only imagine how bad it is now, So much crazy in such a small place. I would never move back. It is horribly heartbreaking to see how trashed it all looks now.
Why are they not letting the people stay in the zigzag building? Its amazing what the people have done with it, give them a chance to keep their home!!! They are more than looking after the building
It is a massive space to house only 23people it’s been a long time and made very little progress I really think it needs socially minded developers to make it functional it’s not enough to run it the same as a 1980 swatting club
People have a preconceived idea of how someone should be. When I lived just outside of Wolverhampton my next door neighbour his house wasn't up to the neighbours standard. My daughter and I found nothing wrong with this man when we asked for help he was willing and didn't even moan about it. I think this man didn't have a lot of money to renovate. People often get judged by their outer appearance and not what is inside. Society has become judgemental it's sad.
Glad I did my UK tour in the mid 2000's (from New Zealand), travelled from the top to the bottom over a 2 year period, loved it but now it seems it has turned into a shithole with crime rampant and an authoritarian government hell bent of destroying the country for some reason. I feel for the working and lower class natives.
It's getting like that all over the world: authoritarian govts hellbent on destroying the people. It's all their dirty New World Order plans. Its biblical prophecy being fulfilled, the world is preparing for first of all a great collapse then the introduction of the anti christ with promises of peace (but destruction in reality).
Loved staying here as a child on the side of the roads in my dads van! Always good memories ❤ looks really different now with all them trailers on the roads!
A great insight into the edges of society. I have always been very capable, and now as 70 approaches I find it more and more difficult to keep running just to stay in the same place. If I could find a way to survive without living on the street I would take it.
I pray you will be ok
