Hi! Just found your post! Adorable baby! Might not have to many words right now - but she certainly has a voice! Lol!😂
A Tip f anyone travelling with young baby /toddler.
Many, many years ago we could only experence a vacation by being loaned a company van n essentually camping ...... the mechanic/ engineer (Son of Boss!) welded a ring bracket near corner roof above rear door. He then made a steal bar ( scaffold pole) that had a 90° bend...with the shorter part just long enough t fit into ring- bracket protruding just long enough to allow a fixing pin through holes drilled f purpose. We could either remove pin n lift out the bar or swing it across( above the doors n clip in place.) He welded two D rings t lower edge of the horizontal part of pole....to which we could clip a " bouncy swing" ( kind that meant f internal door frames) or a baby hammock n have the bar swung out n secured... so that infant could have a blast, without crashing into van! n gave us some " hands free" moments....usually 10/15 minutes a time! Or be rocked to sleep!
The next year we clipped a baby swing seat....n the last time we used it had a soft strong knotted rope....with biggest knot n 'circle seat' so they could play independantly with it....( piece of chain from under seat n pegged t ground just long enough t allow some movement but not enough t bang into van)so long as not over used and always supervised it was a bonus to have. He even bolted some small " climbing hand/ foothold things t outside of van f them t learn/ practice climbing! Many collegues also loaned the van n had a great time....the guy was an amazing, creative engineer who invented all kinds of things!
It would be good t know what,if any, adjustments, fittings you have specifically related t the child...
This was pre- internet/ apps days when map reading skills were a given! But sometimes we literaly would just head out...n decide on a vague direction...n play a game where we took turns t callout a number (1to5)and left/right would count each junction n would just follow that road! We found some great and not so great places ....but also met some lovely people!
Your reaction to the Castle was interesting! Hope to enjoy some more of your posts!

    Hi folks.
If you really get stuck for an overnight campsite. Try driving up to any farmhouse and just ask if there is anywhere you can park up for the night. You might be surprised how friendly most farmers are and how accommodating they can be. Sometimes buying some eggs or other produce goes a long way. I've known of some farmers allow some overnight tents in certain areas, as long as you follow the country code, are respectful of property, leave no mess, what's the worse that can happen. 😊

As a family, we have done many holidays throughout the years wilding and my son and his wife who live wilding and have done for a decade maybe! I just want you to know that we do not pay for overnight parking. We mostly use large lay-bys off of the beaten track and yes we do access the apps and another trick is to use the heritage sites. As long as you belong to the English heritage site which is £42 a year, you mostly can arrange a trip to the castle/estate/etc for the following day and have permission to stay over night. So if you arrive on a Monday you can stay overnight (mostly) and then go the event on the Tuesday. You can also leave van in the car park and go and check out the town. Just be back before car park closing for that night.
If you belong to English heritage you can literally travel the entire country going from one event to the next obviously taking in many other areas on route xxx

My understanding is that so called "wild camping" is not strictly legal in England and Wales but it is in Scotland. In the former there has been a persistent issue with Travellers, rocking up on land and some elements causing anti-social behaviour / crime in the local community and then moving on (or being forced to move on) leaving a mess behind. Therefore the govt has created restrictions on where you can park which also impacts leisure travellers. I was speaking to some locals in a scenic area and they said that the reason for the height restrictions on car parks of late is to do with the popularity of "van-life" and some van-lifers not respecting the local area and so to deter them, height restrictions have been introduced.

Britain can be dark all day. I have worked in the countryside most of my life. I work in health care. Some of my delightful patients are farmers. I had one patient from West Sussex who would amuse me with fantastic farmers' sayings. He would come to see me and I would ask how he was. His reply "It is four oclock all today, Simon." Meaning it is as dark as it is at four oclock, all day. Always made me smile! Miss him terribly!

Unfortunately there are people who live in caravan and vans who move onto private land or public and never leave and or cover it in trash and create lots of anti social behavior. Hence why lots of things are barricaded for cars only. And our government doesn't have any policies and procedures in places to forcibly move them so the cost falls on the council or the private landowner

If you’re considering travelling to the UK, do not go to London Birmingham, Manchester Bradford Leicester or Nottingham there are a few other pieces you don’t want to go to but the list is too long. Just keep away from the main ones and you’ll be okay.

24:30 - Hate to quibble, but it's 14 HUNDRED years of history, not 14 thousand. 14 thousand years would take you back to long before the Egyptian Pharaohs, and probably before the English Channel formed to separate Britain from France.

I think after that adventure, you need to get your bloods checked. Glucose and pressure levels will be through the roof after all that food😂
