Toast your crumpets more. They need to be golden brown so they're crispy on top and bottom not rubbery they're tricky to get just right but better slightly overdone than underdone. Only for toasting. Don't eat without toasting.
Good introduction to proper British 'banter' and 'taking the mick' regarding the controversial breakfast combination - Its truly a sign of comfort and affection 😂
BTW; I lived in California for two years and was given the same reception on the other side of the "pond" just by opening my mouth and being treated like Royalty! Anyway I made some good friends in California!
Sweet scones are for jam and clotted cream. You can make savoury scones too, the best known ones are cheese scones so you were being somewhat misinformed. That said, not toasting scones can get you sent to the Tower! 💂
Wait a minute! We didn't see any problems with putting avocado on a scone! 🥑😂 They really do up van life events in the UK. Wow! Glad you guys are having a great time! 💓
UK citizen are welcoming and kind. There also funny and have good sense of humor. Im American and lived here 20 years now. Most us Americans blood lines are from the British Isles, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Poland, Scandinavia, various regions in Europe. We came over on a boat and settle in the wild wild west LOL years and years ago.
Welcome to the UK. I hope you get the opportunity to check out Scotland, Wales, and NI/Rep Ireland, as each part has its own unique character. Have a great time.
What a fantastic time you are having over here. I'm so late catching up you'll probably be back home? How gorgeous is Everly she's quite the video star. I hope you're enjoying the beautiful UK. Would love to have met you. Take Care, Hugs.
I’d just like to point out that the café at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall sells cheese scones as a savoury alternative to jam and cream. Very tasty, actually!
Minack theatre is one of the most impressive places I’ve visited! My Mum makes cheese scones like none I’ve had before, she uses extremely strong cheddar and substitutes half of the cheddar for Parmesan- before they go into the oven she puts a big pile of the Parmesan/cheddar mix on top of each scone so it melts down the sides and bakes them so they’re so crisp and dark! 🤤
Lovely meeting you guys in Birmingham with Chris and Marie Ann…it was double excitement for me…come over to Ireland soon and I’ll show you the best Guinness and the hospitality of the Irish. Big love x
Oh my gosh !!! This video is so fun. Watching everything you are doing in the UK 🇬🇧, so much good food. I love watching 👀 your family grow, in size, and experience. Thank you for sharing your life with me. 🎉🎉❤❤❤
you almost committed a crime with them scone then ;) look forward to you finding the magical corners of this small but amazing country that is the UK hope you got to visit my corner of it that is Wales when you was here, you can throw a stone in any direction and hit a castle there sooo meany of them here
I just came across your channel the other day with your first visit to the UK. It's a total joy to watch your discovering our beautiful country. It's making me want to explore it more!
I love finding a channel just randomly,I just came across your channel this morning,3 videos in and I already subscribed and a massive fan, looking forward to getting thru your videos ❤
What a great way to see the country. You all seem like you are having the best time. I can’t wait to see what’s next. When I’m watching your videos it makes me want to come and hang out with all of you. You guys are very lucky and I know how hard you work to make all these great things happen. I really do enjoy watching all the stuff you guys do. 🚐❌⭕️💜
Great video guys, great to meet you both at the show. In your defence i did say to Chris i would give the cheese scone a try.. you only live once, so give anything a go once (i do have a little canadian blood!) 😊✌
Loved everything about this! What an incredible community you've found in the UK!! Stratford upon Avon was one of my fave villages to have visited many years ago ❤ Everly us a trooper, meeting all these people, new sounds and places...shes such a good lil traveler 🩷 Enjoy the rest of your visit xoxo
Your egg crumpet makes complete sense to me. I'm not British so it looked like a yummy egg McMuffin. Great video guys as always. Love to laugh about your "wild" food choices😂
Hey, eat your food in any combination you like! Some people don’t even try different foods and you only live once! It’s not like you were serving it to everyone else! People can get really precious about their culture and cuisine and the right way to do things but the way I see it you’ve been told how they do it and you wanna experiment! Great video again ❤
I thought everyone’s reaction to your savoury scone idea was hilarious. I thought it would have been yummy. I reckon a scone is kinda like a biscuit, just waiting to be smothered in gravy! Fun times.
The older savoury scone recipe is to all intents and purposes the same as an American biscuit, the best ones are cheese scones made with the most vintage West Country Cheddar you can get. Her real crime was not toasting the crumpets, that's akin to punching the monarch in the face then taking a dump in a Royal Guard's hat.
Oi! Y'alright? 😁 I definitely feel Chris's pain; I made navigational errors more than once and ended up down tight one-lane dead end residential roads. What a menagerie of rigs there!! No two are the same! But everyone was so kind and welcoming. So cool. All these unwritten rules for scones! When they asked if you were gonna eat them dry maybe you coulda said, "no, we're putting salad creme on them." 😂🤣 Have you headed home yet? If not, please give Chris & Marianne hugs from us! ❤️❤️😎👍
Ok but wait, I don't get it....why can't you have cheese and avocado and egg on a scone? That sounds delicious! What was the name of this event? Is it held every year at the same time? It looks amazing, even an introvert like me would go. Thanks so much for sharing xo
UK Scone have more sugar (sweet), typical topping jam and cream. Cheese and avocado and egg on a scone, would go better on the scones that the US call "biscuits", basically scones lacking sugar (savoury).
I have to try her crumpet recipe of not cooking cause there is something about butter and jam that MIKE make even the worst smell taste better but untoasted I’m not convinced the whole point is supposed to drip through and give you like really dirty hands and yeah however I will say this you guys are intoxicating. You’re absolutely brilliant and I never thought that I would find myself attractive to go out into the world completely skin and do something really dumb. I just living absolutely brilliant.
It's perfectly correct to say they're in the UK. Just as if someone went to Texas and only visited Texas, they'd still be correct to say they were in the US. And many of the things they're experiencing in the UK are things which are generically British and not particular to England, although if they visit other parts, I'm sure they'll start to notice where the differences lie too, and make a distinction.

When you tell people you’re in the UK, you’re giving them the impression that you could be anywhere in the UK which is four different countries. But if you’re not in Scotland and you’re not in Wales and you’re not in Northern Ireland, that leaves just one part of the UK that you could be in which is England. So just tell people you’re in England it’s not hard. It’s not difficult and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. only the English should be ashamed of being in England…😏🤷🏻♂️🏴

Not Toasting Crumpits is surely a Crime 😲
raw crumpet? omfg can't take Americans anywhere! 🤣
It's the pits
Never heard of it before. Huge no no.😊
How do crumpets compared with what Americans call "English Muffins?"
Crumpets*
Crumpets always have to be toasted Can’t believe you tried them without toasting first! Good with melted cheese on too.
Even better with lurpack butter
Criminal case: the mishandling of British culture; not toasting your crumpet!!!

More butter on very hot crumpets. It melts into the holes. Marmite or Jam or whatever topping them off. Crumpet heaven 👌🏼
Everly, the show queen. She gets more adorable with every video!
HHaha she is amazing 😍

Savoury scones are older than sweet scones, we've not had sugar as long as we've had cheese.
You never eat crumpets cold from the packet. This is one thing we don't eat cold.
How lovely! What a super community. Thanks for bringing us along!
We were so glad to find a thriving welcoming community here in England! Thanks for coming on this adventure with us 🥰

Lots of salted butter and golden syrup.. devine

First time every have I seen a crumpet eaten raw.
If you like crumpets, Trader Joe’s sell them. Not as good as UK crumpets but good enough.
