My name is James and I live full time in my tiny van, however this is not just a van life channel. I enjoy travel, food and drink and making videos 🙂
When I turned 50 I decided I’d had enough of the rat race and working long hours just to pay rent and bills, life was passing me by and I needed a drastic change.

Where is Helen?
Helen has a responsible full time job and two children so unfortunately she can’t join me on every trip. I really wish she could.
What equipment do you use?
My vlogging camera is a GoPro Hero 9 but I also use my pixel 6a phone and Lumix G80 camera for other footage
For editing, I used Premiere Pro on an old laptop but I’m saving to buy a more powerful computer.
Do you have children?
Yes I have a 6yr old daughter who lives with her mum but I see her quite a lot. I don’t usually put her on the vlogs and if I do, I block out her face for privacy reasons. I also have a grown up son.
How do you fund your lifestyle?
I don’t need as much to live these days since going full time van life but I receive a small percentage of income from the ads that RUclips put on the videos.

In this crazy world it is so nice to watch nice people do nice things. I am from Texas and if I ever get to England and surrounding areas these are the exact things I will be doing. History, good food , good drink, and laughter. God Bless you nice people.

I absolutely love York. The architecture is outstanding. You can walk away hours there. I people watch and when i see old people walk along arm in arm i think how wonderful they got to spend old age together. L❤
She absolutely is worth it 100% & you're her biggest fan. I love watching how down to Erth Helen is, love watching her drink her pints and enjoy her food, we should see more lovely ladies doing this instead of watching women eat salads & drink sips of water lol. She's my kind of best friend who would encourage you to eat the cake and love life. You guys just match so well, I say it every time. Looks like you had an absolute blast. I love food! No salads here, unless it's as a side to something else. But much as I'd love too, drinking 3 glasses of red would have me asleep on the table. Same with more than 2 pints over a long period. Such a shame. So much water has to be sipped while everyone else has the plonk. I'm always the designated driver for our little village supper club. Me and a guy who has to drive him mother home after we return because she baby sat for him. 6 people get to enjoy the food and the expensive wine. 2 of us share a large bottle of fizzy water and get to claim 1 non-alcoholic drink on the tab. I think we come off badly there.
Like others, I thought this was going to be the Engagement stream, a luxury hotel, going to a nice restaurant, one of your favourite places and pubs. It had everything needed to set the scene for the perfect proposal. Helen kept saying it was so romantic, but it was James just being extra nice to Helen because she works so hard ❤. Very thoughtful, James. Have a ring handy next time!😉. Another lovely video as always.

Nooo, she's just happy. That's what Northerners are like. Well, there are 2 types of Northerners. The miserable old git, sit in a corner studying one pint all night type and the happy, talk to anybody, makes the best of every situation type like Helen. She's adorable.

So many great pubs to choose from.....when I was a student there we went to The Grapes (closed now), The Charles or The Deramore in Heslington, or The Nags Head in Tang Hall.....The Nags Head is the true Yorkshire pub experience....but the Deramore had a great atmosphere and a brilliant Thursday night pub quiz....and Plunkett's was always the restaurant to go to for a special night out
York is Class. 👌✨🏛️🏺🍽️🍻 Long overdue a trip there - tending, always, to visit around Xmas, which seems to maximise it's historic ambience 🎄✨ We also (nearly always) end the afternoon in the Carriage Bar of the Railway Museum 🚂🍾🚃🥂 surrounded by engineering magnificence, whilst supping a very nice glass (or two) of their very reasonably priced, red wine! 🍷+🍷+ 🤪.. 😆✨ FAB vlog, as usual! 👍✨ Many thanks, Jamlen. 🌟🌟
Great stuff James and Helen. We were in York a couple of weeks ago and agree totally that it is a very pricey place. However It is just wonderful and great for a treat. Love Valhalla too spent a few hours in there!

The cat on the outside of the pub is part of the york cat trail walk it’s great and takes you to parts of York you probably otherwise wouldn’t see! Enjoy your time in York it really is a fab city x

She's a lucky girl too. I have a Northerner husband quite like James in many ways. They are lovely men to be with. Kind, caring, don't show off, good to the people they love. Can't get much better than that. Mine's a much better cook though. Thank goodness because I got bored of cooking decades ago but I do love a nice meal.

Great video! We went early February when they had an ice sculpture trail. I think York’s always busy. We also sat in the front bar of the bluebell pub and they served great pork pies. Met loads of lovely locals in there.
