- Gogeta & Vegito are the two powerhouse fusions of the Dragon Ball Universe but if you put the two of them against each other in an all out battle who would be the victor? I answer that in two different ways who would win in Dragon Ball Z and who would win in Dragon Ball Super as well as answering who is the stronger fusion overall.

What I think is that gogeta and vegito have the same multiple and the rival boost is a bonus that can stack with super saiyan to ssb but the time limit goes down so vegito is stronger and gogeta has stronger durability

I prefer the fusions BEFORE the retcon. The way the fusions worked seemed fine to me: Potara was a stronger fusion but was permanent which meant that using them was a huge gamble and the fusion dance was weaker and had a time limit but could be used more loosely granted that you performed the dance correctly. But now that BOTH Of THEM have a timer then what's the damn point? Like who cares that Potara is stronger? It's harder to pull off since now you need the consistent help of the Kais to provide a set of earrings in order to use that fusion method, meanwhile the fusion dance can be performed at literally any point and doesn't require the need of outside help constantly supplying you with magical god earrings. Not to mention how easy the Potaras are to destroy which limits their usage even more.
Another weakness both fusions would have is the dance you can not transform into more powerful states as it will burn through you're time limit gotenks had 10 mins in ssj3 gogeta had 5 to 1 min in ssj4 (unless you have perfect ki control as gogeta would have split the moment he went blue) while the earrings you have to avoid using to much power as both kelfa and vegtio burn through their time because the power output
talking about the earring being easy to break, remember how in the dbs anime, fighters from universe 2 failed to do a potara fusion because someone shot a blast at their direction and the shock wave accidentally broke the earring, at least with the dance, you can just keep trying to do it even if someone stops you once
Except it was never permanent or retconed elder Kai didn’t know that the potara has a time limit for mortals all super did was give the explanation on why they defuse that time that’s it

The rival boost definitely applies to Vegito and Gogeta because its the same two people and the explanation old kai gives about the rival boost pertains to Goku/Vegeta, not the potara itself

I always interpreted them as relative equals power-wise, but Potara is a way easier and stable method.
We've seen what happens when the Dance isn't *pixel-perfect*. You lose an entire hour of possibly saving the universe.
I think based on the content we get Potara is clearly the better fusion - *however* - I think its way more interesting to make the dance stronger and less stable but the Potara is weaker and more stable

I think a hypothetical same Saga Gogeta & Vegito can like cancel each other's ult, but Gogeta defuses almost immediately
I mean one of those is children (who already have garbage ki control) using an unstable form and the other is just non cannon. God ki also works differently to regular ki and what we got in the Broly movie pretty much disproved the idea that Gogeta would insta defuse like Vegito

It happens offscreen, goten days “I never knew there was a level beyond super saiyan” followed by “I feel like it used up all my energy”. Trunks then says “I guess it’s weakness is time. We could only do it for 5 minutes. It even cancelled our fusion”
I agree with your interpretation of the percentile limits for both fusions. Vegito didnt defuse against Buuhan because he wasnt trying, much like how Gogeta was just finessing Broly, whereas in cases where they’re expending a lot of energy relative to base (Vegito Blue trying to kill an immortal, or Gogeta using SSJ4 against omega shenron in GT) they both have been shown to defuse early, which is consistent with the Gotenks scan.

Fusion also has a shorter time limit with higher energy use, Gotenks defused early and it was said it was because of ssj3 (I think the time was cut in half).

Is the “rival boost” an actual power boost though? I always took it to mean Goku and Vegeta compliment each other due to the rivalry more than if they chose to fuse with anyone else, not that the fusion multiplier gets an additional power boost.
I think that’s just what the boost is. Goku and vegeta are a better fusion than goku and gohan although gohan should be stronger than vegeta, implying some sortve additional boost in power because they’re rivals
@@Zeldic364 Yeah pretty much. My interpretation of it is that while still separate beings, the very essence of what a rival is happens to be that they are always motivating each other to improve. Goku always trains to outdo Vegeta and Vegeta always trains to outdo Goku. Therefore, when they fuse this drive to outdo each other is represented in the fusion by bumping up the power of the fusion proportional to the strength of their rivalry. It's basically sorta like a potential unlock.
I rate Gogeta more, and even though I would like to believe that line that they are basically equal... logically, Vegito will have a slight advantage.
With Potara, you just clip them on. With the Dance, you gotta match each other's max power. So if Goku is stronger than Vegeta or vice versa, that difference would play a huge factor.
I love Gogeta, but if it's an all in, full power match: Vegito barely takes that W.

To be fair if you wanna scale Gogeta over Vegito (DBZ), you can bring up the fact Goku transforming shook the entire afterlife which is multiple universal sized dimensions, and Janemba being so powerful that it breaks the laws of life and death, because in the movie there’s scenes where the villains from hell die and are immediately brought back to life because Janemba has control over the concept, and that’s just a weaker form of Janemba so Super Janemba and Gogeta scale above Buuhan and Vegito based on feats of weaker versions of themselves, this also makes sense as to how Gogeta has a “Big Bang” of Ki because he’s powerful enough with just transforming to give off that level of energy.

Broly isn't stronger than Jiren one debunk is Goku saying Broly might be stronger then Beerus while Goku thinks Jiren is superior to Beerus via Whis statements and the other is the Kanji ( 敵 ) "Teki" which has multiple meaning like "opponent" "enemy" "rival" "danger" "adversary" so specifically saying it's one size fits all is disingenuous and we'd have to rely on context to determine which would be the most likely to be true. Since Jiren is brought up as an opponent in a tournament and he's just fighting to save his universe and wasn't really treated like a villain till the very end where he tried to kill the gang, but Broly throughout the movie is treated as an enemy from the perspective of the main cast, he's coming down with Frieza who is the most Db villain there is and proceeds to attack Goku and Vegeta for no reason other than being under Frieza's order which would make him appear as a villain. So it's the same Kanji but via different context it means two completely different things so it can't be used to say Broly is superior to Jiren.

Well, most of the statements about potara weren't really that clear:Kaioshin just said that the effect is greater than fusion but a few pages later, he just says that separating is just one of the weaknesses that potara fusion don't have, so it could refer to that, the only confirmations come from daizenshuu 7 and chouzenshuu 4(which copies daizenshu 7's), before that, the statement was just "the effect is greater than fusion"

Personally I like both fusions and would say throughout the series they are relatively equal, whenever we see Gogeta he always delivers and gets the job done but we have seen more of what vegito can do therefore he could be scaled easier than Gogeta but I still like to think the are atleast around equal, although I do like the kinda head canon that Gogeta can expend all his power without worrying about a time limits while vegito has to be more careful and it kinda makes sense too cuz vegito’s fusion is magic and with too much power that magic or spell can be broken while Gogeta’s fusion is simply a technique some random amount of power won’t just break it cuz it’s not how it works, overall both fusions are cool but I wish Gogeta could get more time to shine so maybe we could really see who wins but I won’t care fo it that much tbh

What made Vegito amazing in the Buu arc was that he didn’t have to go all out. Ssj was all he needed. If Buuhan was any real trouble to him, he could’ve gone up to ss3 and finished him for good, but that wasn’t really his goal. If Gogeta was the last option, I believe he’d have not much trouble either. When we look at Vegito in the Goku Black arc, he used Blue which was his strongest form. His final attack was meant to obliterate Zamasu completely. I think that he could’ve destroyed zamasu’s body, but he’d need to use 100% and then some to insure that regeneration would be impossible. Since he used up a lot of energy, he exhausted himself without realizing it. Blue isn’t as demanding as ss3, but if a saiyan fights for a long time or uses a full power attack, they’re not going to be as effective as they were when they started fighting. I know he’s not all that relevant, but Gotenks’s final fight with Super Buu showed that when a fusion fights at 100 percent, it can expire quickly.
Gogeta is just as effective as Vegito, but he seems to use his time and energy more wisely. I mean we’ve only gotten one canon appearance, but I don’t think his victory over Broly makes him better. Gogeta and Vegito are equals for now. Until they both face an opponent worthy of their absolute best, there’s no point in debating.

Anyways I do want some thoughts on this since the video brought it up. So Jiren is considered an Enemy. I do want to ask, do you all consider Jiren an enemy? I ask this since yes, the title of the episode does call him “The Ultimate Enemy”, but that was during the ToP. Would you all consider Jiren an enemy by the end of it, where he has changed and sees how Goku sees friends and that kind of power.
Also going off of the scans that say Broly is the strongest enemy, I do like how for Superhero, a guide calls him the strongest man, since at that point, Broly isn’t an enemy. He’s only considered an enemy during the Broly movie, so he’s called an enemy.

The real determining factor is which aspect of goku and vegeta's hidden power and unbounded potential comes through when needed. Goku and vegeta have tapped into dormant energies and evolved in strength several times.
Haven’t the video yet but my understanding of Vegito vs Gogeta was always that Vegito was stronger pre Super.
But now post Super Vegito still is the stronger fusion but doesn’t have a reliable timer for said fusion. Whereas Gogita is slightly weaker, the timer is always going to be 30mins so it ends up being the better fusion overall because it’s more reliable with the timer.
We’ll see how the video matches with that.

Metamoran fusion still abides by the rules presented before, where excessive power use still cuts the fusion timer down significantly. Gotenks wasn't able to sustain ssj3 for even 10 minutes. It seems that no matter the method of fusion, the time your allowed to stay fused is dependant on energy output.

in my opinion rival boost is having two people who’s base power is so close it rivals the other providing a boost. since the stronger one has to match the weaker one with the fusion dance it doesn’t make much sense

SSJ4 Gogeta lasted less than 10 minutes so yeah it’s definitely the case. The reality is that the plot is what dictates how long a fusion last instead of actually following the facts that have been stated.
Official material released at the time of the Broly movie stated that they are, for all intents and purposes, equal.

Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both fusions, it wouldn't be a huge difference in terms of power, otherwise they would always choose to fuse a certain way. Obviously they would go for the fusion most readily available to them - Potara being easier but only if they had the earrings, and Fusion Dance if Vegeta is willing to do it.

Vegito would have just Slashed up Janemba but most likely not won with Soul Punisher since it seems that's Gogeta's main technique and Gogeta would have just used that technique and called it a day

The reason I take the most recent statement of them being equal as the most accurate is because it's the only statement made referring to the canon Gogeta. The other guides are all talking about the movies or GT, that statement is about the canon show tho.

Unrelated but let's say hypothetically madara ate a sukuna finger and sukuna took control. We'll just say madara is faster and overall stronger than sukuna himself is. Would sukunas own base stats and the power of his curse technique become stronger? What would be the limits of what he could do in madaras body? Or just would sukunas techniques actually get stronger due to being in a body stronger than his own?

I’ll say thing for me. The potara is better because no one need to lower their power in oder to fuse but now vegeta and goku are pretty much equal. Ego and instinct are a different power boost to their base so that don’t count. As of now both fusion would be equal and I’ll say potara can defuse faster because their body isn’t synch up but smash together but the dance is riskier but both person are in perfect synch making the 30 min limit last long than the 1 hour limit when using more power because one is held by super glue and the other by duck tape. But both max out kamehameha would be equal power.
Six, I got a question, when goku and vegeta do the fusion dance and goku has to lower his power level, where does that power go after they fuse? Does it just disappear or what? I was always under the impression that fusion dance requires the power levels to be equal for it to happen and that process has nothing to do with the power output of the fusion like how it has to be perfect like the the fingers being perfectly aligned and the dance being perfectly synchronised, I feel like the power levels being the same is just a process of the fusion to form and not that the fusion suddenly has less power because one of the fusees lowered they power like where do that power go? I wanna know your take on this .
Goku has never needed to lower his power because he and Vegeta are equal base to base Everytime they had to fuse

It makes sense that vegito would be stronger. I mean, he has less accessible fusion. It isn't a garunteed goku and vegeta will have potara while they could do the fusion dance whenever its required.

Well... I guess I prefer Gogeta's fight style and Vegito's personality. Some people argue they act similar but Gogeta does a lot less trash talking and is more down to business.

But overall I like Gogeta. I feel like he takes the best from goku and vegeta. Not saying that Vegito doesn't, its just that you feel his positive attitude and confidence even through his humble smile. He doesn't even need to talk.

So if Broly is stronger than Jiren after awakening beyond his initial full power. And Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta was stronger him? Does make the fusion stronger than Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku?
People try to pin a multiplier and honestly beside it being A X B, i think one thing thats overlooked is it's a scale. The rival "boost" isnt a cherry on top the rivalry only creates conditions for a greater fighter meaning higher multiplier. Beerus backs up compatibility as a key factor during the TOP where he says 17 & 18 being twins should have a satisfactory result. Like goku saying him and Satan would barely grow stronger, the guide saying it is addition or multiplication basically illustrates it all. Depending on ur compatibility, u get a greater boost or possibly barely a boost at all.
The funny thing about this whole debate is even if u said they had the same multiplier, fusion dance is technically always slightly weaker cuz u have to equalize. Thats where being rivals comes in since u barely have to adjust but that difference is there. Then u have more statements leaning toward potara. Honestly i'm fine with the fusions being equal cuz it makes both useful, fusion dance is more readily available while potara lasts longer but it's clear potara is suppose to be the better fusion overall even if it isnt stronger

If we take alternative timelines into consideration, Gogeta in GT also unfused due to expending too much power against Omega Shenron. So the Dance may not be that stable compared to the Potara.
The potara is definitely a more convenient fusion the fact that the people dont have to harmonize with each other gives it a huge advantage if you consider that every failed attempt at doing the dance costs 30 minutes as a weaker fighter the 100% success rate of potara fusion is where I think the advantage is, I personally believe both fusions have the same power potential
I have a counter point which got retconned away real quick: I don't remember which translation it was, but back when GT was released (and not yet obliterated into being not canon), the zenkai boost was still acknowledged. You all remember that yes? Well, SSJ4 (those glorious ape men) were stated to be "peak Saiyan potential" at that time... Well, due to the nature of having a zenkai boost, OG ssj4 gogeta technically held infinite power ; you can't peak if you can always get stronger, even if it meant almost dying to do it. That said, I dunno how it works out, but there's two sides to this now: either the zenkai boost is constantly activating due to the supposed "peak" nature of ssj4, or every time gogeta gets unfused (which is technically his "death"), he'll get even stronger upon refusing. Of course, I could simply be wrong, but these technicalities do exist. I don't know if SSGSS has the same attribute, so I won't claim anything absolute in this case, but it's certainly something to think about (at least pre-modern DB)

I have a few issues with this video. One of the biggest being your statement that Metamoran fusion doesn't seem to have its limit drained if you expend to much power. That is incorrect. We've seen multiple cases of this being true, with SSJ3 Gotenks and SSJ4 Gogeta. Vegito defused quickly due to using the Final Kamehameha, a technique that is basically just a final flash mixed with a Kamehameha. One aspect of the Final Flash is that it's Vegeta's finishing move, one where he puts all of his energy into it. Vegito does the same with his Final Kamehameha (but due to hax, Zamasu doesn't die to it). Not a lot of people take that into account when comparing the two. Blue doesn't drastically drain Vegito's power, his Final Kamehameha does.
The fight with broly probably wasn't any more than a few minutes long. We've had multiple examples of the perception of time being skewed for our viewing, such as the infamous namek blowing up in 5 minutes, and the fact that the tournament of power was only 48 in-universe minutes and yet spanned 30 22-minute long episodes. Even if I'm wrong here about the Broly movie, my other point still stands. I love both fusions but Gogeta's gotta have permanent post-nut clarity with how much people ride his dick.
On a side note can we just finally let Gotenks have a win? Everytime he shows up he gets humiliated in some way, especially in DBS
We do need to take into consideration that the Gogeta and Vegito are at different arcs in the story. Gogeta is going to be considerably stronger just off the power boost they both received (MUI AND Evolved blue)

Vegito is limited to techniques and can be said to be based on the power of the individuals who make the fusion, much more than the Metamoru fusion, which in addition to having the users' techniques, gains new ones that Vegito does not have access to, perhaps because they are magical, like the Soul Punisher, or the Kamikase ghosts, and Gogeta have a history of always defeating their enemies, with time to spare, and having no signs of effort, fatigue, or anything of the sort.

I think when it comes That V-Jump article that pretty much says Gogeta > Vegito, I think there is another interpretation. Not saying I go with this but another valid interpretation.
1. It does say the only reason Gogeta should win is because of Fusion, could imply that it’s an equal version of Goku and Vegeta are being used. And the rest of the page would be referring to the specific Buu Saga Vegito and Fusion Reborn Gogeta. Especially with the the hypothetical being a “Dream Match”
2. You could say that relationships between any characters that fuse does seemingly have more of an effect on the fusions’ power than possibly even the method of fusion themselves.
One example could be in DBS ToP arc when Beerus prioritizes 17 and 18 fusing because they should be compatible as siblings. Not even cyborgs. And he does this over having 17 fusing with someone stronger than 18.
With that being said it could be interpreted that the Fusion Dance could properly draw the maximum potential for Goke and Vegeta specifically due to being a more balanced method of fusion. This would make it so while Potara is still stronger than Fusion, Gogeta would be stronger than Vegito. It does call Gogeta “a unification of body and soul” and Vegito “two powers multiplied together” or something like that which (considering both of them are what each of them were called) would mean Gogeta is more of the former than Vegito is and vise versa for the latter. Which that logic might apply to the “Dream Match.”
But if you think it’s either referring to the base fusion amps alone, that would be a contradiction because Potara is outright stronger the Fusion. If you think it’s also referring to the series and the movie specifically (as opposed to just say that this is where these 2 are from) the Vegito would be stronger since Fusion Reborn takes place some time after it’s own Buu Saga considering Goku tells Vegeta that it’s been a long time since he had his body in that movie.
Recapping:
It can either refer to hypothetically equal pairs of Goku and Vegeta fusing having their “rival boost” (or generally “compatibility boost”) being maximized or some third boost, the Gogeta > Vegito without contradicting Potara > Fusion.
Or it can be saying the entire page refers to the characters specifically from their respective forms of media which would either mean nothing if the former interpretation is believed, Vegito > Gogeta since the movie counterparts should be conceptually stronger or just be an outright contradiction if it’s saying Fusion > Potara.

Also I think the anime might have included SSJ3 shortening the fusion time. Trunks does say that they ‘can only go SSJ3 for 5mins that they revert to their normal state and even their fusion comes undone.’
The manga displays this exactly and SSJ3 taking up Goku’s time limit on Earth is pretty consistent with that.
But the anime has Gotenks fight in his base form for quite some time after his SSJ3 form runs out. He even uses Ghost Attacks proving he still has energy. On top of that, with GT (at the time) being the official sequel to the anime (but I side story to the manga) Goten and Trunks don’t think to warn Gogeta about using a strong form with Fusion or explain why their fusion became undone so quickly. Assuming the writers didn’t just forget it could be consistent with the anime. And I guess the interpretation of what Trunks said could be interpreted as “they can only go SSJ3 for 5mins, revert to base and then the fusion will run out when it’s supposed to later.”
Or not depending on if you consider this, despite the anime being “canon,” just an anime contradiction.

The idea of this interpretation is that reason stated in V-Jump for Gogeta winning is because of the method of fusion itself. Most of the page isn’t even comparing them as “movie Gogeta” and “anime Vegito.” It only looks that way since those are the only times/continuities in which they appear.
Furthermore the “Dream Battle” section is likely comparing a hypothetical versus between the two fusions born from equal pairs of Goku and Vegeta because the only reason it gives for why one of them fairs better is specifically because of the differences between the method of fusion. It doesn’t state any other reason why so any other reason cannot be assume from this passage.
2. The rival boost isn’t part of the Potara exclusively and that’s never stated. In the actual story, it’s stated that it wasn’t just the Potara that made Vegito as strong as he was but the fact that it was specifically Goku and Vegeta who fused. There’s no reason why any other fusion of Goku and Vegeta wouldn’t get a boost that comes from who they are as individuals.
It’s the entire reason why El Manga Legendario/Le Manga de Légende Volume 49 states if Goku fused with Gohan instead of Vegito, they might not have been as strong as Vegito.
3. V-Jump states the Fusion Dance can further draw out the power of Goku and Vegeta due to being a more balanced form of fusion. If you interpret this as “Fusion > Potara” then it’s wrong and contradicted by the series since Potara fusion is stronger than the fusion dance. BUT if you interpret this as “Fusion provides a power boost separate than the base boost” then it works without contradicting anything.
Later on in the DBS anime, even Beerus wanted 17 & 18 to fuse because of their compatibility as siblings rather than cyborgs or going or instead of fusing 17 with someone stronger like Gohan or Piccolo. So it’s pretty evident that the comparability between the fusees can affect the resulting fusion’s power. Especially if, according to Toriyama, “shōki” or right-mindedness can raise one’s strength. We see this with Buuhan in the anime being able to use his rage-boost power better after calming down, Saiyko Jump stating Broly likely would’ve beaten SSB Gogeta if he had control and Toriyama stating Cell Max would be stronger than Broly if he had a functioning mind.
The special edition compilation guide from Dorothée Magazine (a French guidebook series) also states that Gogeta’s “great capacity comes from the fact that it combines the maximum potential of Goku with that of Vegeta as super saiyans.” This is consistent with V-Jump implying another type of boost when it comes to the Fusion.
It also states Vegito is mostly controlled by Vegeta when it gets to the GT portion in the series but I don’t really care about that since it’s clear Potara fusions are less balanced due to more “uneven” fusions like Kibito Kai or Kefla who really only has one of the Fusees’ power.
So if so the logic that follows would be that even though the base Potara boost is greater than the base Fusion boost, when it comes to specifically Goku and Vegeta fusing, Gogeta would likely have a greater compatibility/rival boost because Fusion is the most balanced method of fusion.
When it comes to the whole ‘Gogeta and Vegito are equal trump cards,’ Herms seems to think it has to do with the power of Gogeta and Vegito while Ken Xyro seems to think it refers to their power as trump cards/options. While I do think it probably means the latter, I feel like the intent behind making this statement is to essential tell the fans to think of them as equal.
And again. I’m not saying that this ultimately IS how things are. I’m saying all of this is just a valid interpretation of the evidence in a way that leads to no contradictions. Of course all these guides and quotes from a series that came 20 years after DB ended weren’t meant to be combined, nor did whoever wrote whatever guidebook or character line have the any of the others in mind when they did.
If you think the interpretation of V-Jump and Dorothée Magazine don’t work or extrapolate too much then Vegito should be stronger to you.
Here’s my opinion on this.
For Z, I think Vegetto (Boo Saga) beats out (Z) Gogeta.
I don’t think Metamoran Fusion has a rival-boost since it’s not implied as heavily as Potara Merger.
Even with the statements you shown, I still don’t think it has, I feel the Goten and (Present) Trunks is just that they do have a rivalry but of course nothing like their fathers.
Another thing making Metamoran Fusion technique weaker is that both warriors needed to be equal for the technique to work.
So for example, this is random, and I’ll be comparing two fusion and merging techniques.
Metamoran:
Gokou - 3
Vegeta - 1.5
Gokou needs to lower his power to 1.5.
Gogeta - 2.25
Potara Merger:
Gokou - 3
Vegeta - 1.5
Vegetto - 4.5
Now with my belief that Metamoran Fusion doesn’t have the rival boost, Vegetto gets another edge on this, but even if the technique does have, this example would still have Vegetto above Gogeta because of the power difference.
Now who would win in a fight.
For (Boo Saga) Vegetto vs (Z) Gogeta, I think Vegetto may win due to the rival-boost edge.

Gotenks uses ss3. Gotenks claims they defuse after 5 minutes. Its clear both fusions defuse once using too much ki. Gogeta never defused vs broly or janemba because he never had to really try he was finessing broly and one shot janemba.

The reality is that it’s the plot that dictates everything. If we switched the opponents and fusions around the outcomes would be exactly the same. Both fusions have defused prematurely before.

I know this isn’t how fusions work, but it’s my opinion on how they SHOULD work.
Potara is the easier of the two, and the more reliable. Having a catalyst in the form of the earrings allows for two beings of vastly different strength to fuse correctly. No memorization of dance moves required - the fusion is stable and strong - and you get an hour time limit.
Fusion Dance is the stronger, but riskier option. First, the beings have to match their power levels exactly - allowing for a “perfect mix” when it comes to the energies. This allows the magnification of those energies to be more significant. Without a catalyst like the earrings, the subjects require a ritual - a dance - to correctly flow their energies into one another and fuse. Doing it wrong screws up the process and wastes time. (Another point for the fusion dance is that, apparently in lore, you can fuse MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE with the dance! And there’s a different dance for 3, 4, 5, and more!)
Fusion dance isn’t riskier as shown in the broly movie. It makes sense that the potara is stronger because they won’t always have access to them

The purpose of the two fusions' existence is that of an ultimate trump card that Goku and Vegeta can use on rare occasions to overcome enemies that they can't hope to by themselves
In this regard, both Vegito and Gogeta do a fantastic job of eradicating strong foes
Who cares which one is stronger between the two, both have their own pros and cons
Vegito is a result of Goku's power being multiplied with Vegeta's power (in other words, Goku x Vegeta), and as such he is superior to his Metamoran counterpart from a pure battle-power perspective; but the Potara earrings themselves aren't gonna be available in Goku and Vegeta's pockets like Senzu beans 24/7, and they're also easy to break with just a single Ki blast (we also saw how Gohan failed to catch them and ultimately got devoured by Buu because of that blunder); Vegito's time also gets shorter the stronger the form he uses is
Gogeta is a result of Goku's power and Vegeta's power being added together and an unknown great number multiplying the resulting power on top of that (in other words, unknown great multiplier x (Goku + Vegeta)), so his con is that his power isn't as great as Vegito's; on the other hand, his time doesn't seem to get shorter even if he uses a crazy transformation like SSB, unlike Vegito
Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but both still do their jobs amazingly - which is putting down enemies when Goku and Vegeta can't by themselves

I believe the metamoran fusion multiplier might scale based off of the 2 individuals characteristics, which is why Gogeta is this unstoppable force of nature but Gotenks is MUCH less of a boost. But while this may put the multiplier above normal potara, there is still the rival boost which should put Vegito above Gogeta in raw power. Even if you don’t agree Vegito has much better skill feats, with words alone he can directly target your morale and lower your Ki output, he basically made Buu 10x stronger just to force him to realize he needed to absorb him, and of course in the manga, intimidated Zamasu so much his immortality regeneration actually slowed down in their slow conflict. Also Vegito is stated to be the perfect warrior and has a longer time limit. Vegito should be stronger and even if you disagree Vegito is arguably more skilled and has a longer time limit so whichever way you slice it, Vegito solos.
One thing that has bothered me is when Vegito reappeared in dbs he didn't have vegetas saiyan armor apart of his outfit. Potara fuses the character in the moment of what they're wearing.

It took Cell pushing Gohan to his perceived limit and took Goku pushing Gohan past what he thought his limits were. Gohan was in his head because he had just lost his father, but he was never weaker than Cell in SSJ2
If we would use Vado's statement on potara which counterdicts the daizenshu. Then the x means and as Vado's says potara is the sum of both fighters greatest parts multiplied several tens of times. Which even going by this statement it puts potara over the dance as gogeta says that the dance doesn't just combine the two's powers but there powers are significantly magnified.
Now how much is the question but since we know that potara is the sum of both fighters strongest forms combined multiplied tens of times and the dance is the sum of both fighters, which this could mean base + base times ? Or it could mean blue kioken + blue evolution x? As potara would be blue kioken plus blue evolution x 10-100 or more

Potara cons: shorter fusion time depending on the power, the condition of the two fusiees need to be in good condition (when goku and vegeta fused into vegeto they needed to eat a senzu first), need gods help (have to have the earrings)
Fusion dance pros: longer time limit (its never been said that gogeta defused because he was too powerful or shown), heals the fusiess so your condition is irrelevant (goku and vegeta took an asswopping from broly yet when they fused gogeta was fine)
Fusion dance cons: need to have the same body type and power, not as strong as potaras, need to be completely in sync or else your trapped in a weak body for half an hour
