Nice video of Portreath and very informative.
Nice bit of flying👍
At 14:30 and 16:20 you can see the round base of the steam powered crane that was used to lower massive timbers into slots in the narrow entrance to the second basin. In rough weather the timbers would be lowered to protect the vessels moored in the harbour. You can just make out the iron slots in the wall the timbers would rest in. My great grandfather ran the crane until he died.
I have seen some pictures of that crane and those timbers that's an amazing bit of history there you should cherish that my friend
Beautiful shots. Looking forward to part 2+
Yes, I am related. A way back mind. And I love engineering and trains. It must be why.

No problem 😊
The Collier that steamed across fom South Wales was The Isleman.
You are exactly right I don't know what the Fate of that vessel was but I should imagine it's sunk someone did say to me that it was attacked during world war II but I don't know how true that is
It may have been attacked in WWII but it wasn't sunk then as I used to see it between 1946 and 1950. Maybe it went for scrap.
Part 2 is now available to watch
In part 2 we will be tracing the old railway line that did run from this area back towards carn brea yard which is situated in pool
Can you tell me who the music was by, it was very atmospheric
Yes it's copyright free and they are called PC111 pipe choir
