After a week off from making videos and moving house I’m back with this little Holywell Bay video. Hopefully you all enjoy it and it’s good to be back.
@@colinpiper6280 I’ll reveal a bit more of what I’ve been up to in the next video but you’re right about the hair cut 😂 it’s hanging on by a thread at the moment 😆
I have drank the water or more sipped a bit and it's the nicest water I've ever tasted. I have an obsession with holy wells and I can tell you I've never drank from any of them but this one I did even after reading parents were dunking their kids in it to relieve them of their affliction's.
My gran grew up there from 1914. She remembered the wreck from 1921, chapel visits to the holy well and when the Germans bombed penhale camp in 1940. My grandfather helped built penhale army camp. He also served in the army sappers in N Africa and Italy. My g grandfather was a tin miner and all knew how to use explosives. He was a mine captain in the mines under perranporth and st agnes. I grew up at Rose in the 1970s and 80s, and Holywell not surprisingly is the first beach I remember in my life, with Perranporth, Polly Joke, Crantock and St Agnes next.
Ahhhh , I’m So glad you did this Sean , I’ve been here dozens of times thinking it was round the corner where the tide never quite gets low enough. Someone told us it was in the bigger cave! All is now clear. The cave looks a lot bigger in Poldark 😁
Nice! We'll defo be popping along for a wee look around. And, yes, I think I will drink the water. (Dependent on smells and general feeling upon entering the cave!) Thanks for sharing, Shaun.
Lovely vid Sean, we've been there half a dozen times and not been to this bit, we only did the other caves. Have to say that Holywell is one of our favourite sunset spots in summer, it's absolutely stunning for a bbq, beer and a surf. Keep up the good work :)
Awwwwww Shaun ….. having a right binge on your vids and this pops up …… Holywell is our fave place ever when we come to Cornwall 💜 Last year we tried to get to the Holy well but tide was in each time lol There is another over the dunes also ….. but couldn’t find that either lol 😂
Thank you for posting this. Found the cave yesterday and was slightly disappointed as the caves round the other side of the beach are so much better. But thank you at least we managed to find it and can say we have been
I've lived in Cornwall all my life hahaha I know ur struggle .. but I di manage to get ther ea couple of years ago when no one was around for a proper loonies lovely . Hope u enjoyed ur trip 😊
You did well with the tide, the shipwreck is not often seen. There is no way I would drink the water...I have climbed up to the top and there was things swimming in it 🤮. Love a good dog walk here and especially on a summers evening sat in the dunes watching the sun go down 😊
Hi shaun. What a beautiful place. I think you was right not to drink the water don't think I would have either, salt water isn't the best thing to drink 🤔 missed your video last week. Keep up the good work mate
Aw thank you. Glad you like the videos. I was so happy that Ed decided to review one of my videos. Have a lovely weekend. I post new videos every Sunday so there will be another one out tomorrow 😊
Darn!!! I only walked along that beach on my SWCP journey this week and didn’t know about this well. DOH!! I knew about GOT and opening for Bond “Die Another Day” but this is WAY cooler! Thank you for sharing and perhaps another visit is due 🙂
Hope the house move went well, have to say I missed the video but all good thanks for another video lovely content and no I wouldn’t drink the water like you you never know if you are going to be unwell. Hope you are well? Look forward to the next video..cheers! 😃
Nice video Shaun nice to see you back will put this on my go to places for the future. Yes i think i would have drank the water having drank loads of beer and Jack Daniels etc over lots of years that water would be pure to my liver lol. Thanks as always Shaun.
@@LoveSundays No I didn't. Didn't even know it existed. But I did visit the beach with the dog 🐕. Irs a good walk from the road. The week we were there . There was lots of Merlin helicopter action over the Penhale camp . Not sure why . But I believe Penhale carries alot of history back WW2 .
Great video, Holywell is such a beautiful beach. Visited the well cave a few times, it's a place I love to show people, cos the cave looks uninteresting from the outside, but the well is spectacular. Have drunk the water, but don't have any illnesses to heal I'm afraid, so don't know how well it works. The flavour was nothing special!
My thought process was if I don’t have any illnesses to heal I leave the water for other who need it. Well either that or I just chickened out 😂 thanks for watching
Hello nice vid. We went to all the caves around Holywell but we couldn’t find it next time can you pls put a location so it’ll be easier to find. Thanks
Good to see you back Shaun! Hope your move went well. I might have been tempted to taste the water at the very top but the big pool at the bottom,,,,no way, Somebody might have had a pee in it! 🤤🤣
Cracking video, and very interesting as I have never been to the holy well either. Not sure I would have sampled the water, good call there I reckon... Thanks for distracting me a bit from the horrendous essay I am avoiding writing ;) Great choice of music as always Shaun.
You said it was really windy but I didn’t see any wind. Haha. If you could have flown the drone my bet is you wouldn’t have gotten lost. It’s a conspiracy man!!! That was a really cool place. I probably would have tried to drink it but Kristi would’ve stopped me before it was too late. Lol
I wonder how long you would have had to sit there if the couple hadn’t told you it was behind you! When I get there on my SWCP journey, I will drink from the well but I will use my water filter first 😉
You’re like Bear Grills Paul 😆 thanks for watching mate. I probably would’ve waited there a little bit longer but when the waves nearly hit me I was like hang on the tide isn’t going out any further. Then this couple asked me what I was filming for so I explained I was trying to find it and they said it’s over there 😆
Hi Shaun, some great advice there regards tide and how amazing is that holy well 👌...no no no.. definitely wouldn't have drank the water..it made me think of the bit in Harry Potter when he had to give Dumbledore the poisonous water 😂. Great video again and always love the angles of your camera work 📹...thanks Shaun 👍🙏😊
This is such a beautiful place. I have seen several photos and I believe also in one of the Poldark episodes. I just missed it when we were passing Holywell in 2018, due to the "not low enough" tide. I see that I had the right place pinned on Google maps. Perhaps I'll make it some other time :-) Thank you for sharing!
@@mattrussell250 thank you 😃 I have recognized both Holywell beach and Gull Rock and several other Poldark filming locations along the coastal path in North Cornwall and around West Penwith 😊 And there will be more as I am progressing around Lizard next year 😊 But I didn't know about this other cave. Thank you for the info 👍😊
