Code P0715 is triggered when the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Transmission Control Module (TCM) detects an irregular signal coming from the input/turbine speed sensor in the transmission. The input/turbine speed sensor is used to measure how many revolutions per minute (RPM) the input shaft of the transmission is turning. It is usually a three-wire sensor that reads a reluctor ring in the transmission. When this code is triggered, the vehicle will most likely go into “fail-safe” mode, which is a condition where the vehicle’s power and speed are limited to minimize damage to other components. The ECM/TCM does this because they don’t know how fast the transmission is spinning, and cannot safely select which gear to shift into.

I was wondering if you disconnect the battery and leave it like that for 30 minutes to reset to factory... But then doing that it will reset the whole thing
Since this video we have resolved the problem (in a future video) and now we know that the "learn mode" steps really work, but they don't reset a x-mission in "limp mode," so it is too late to try your idea.
I wish we had tried it at the time...

@@carzombies You can reset the fault code with your scan tool. That should clear the fault. Then you can see if the same fault comes back and how quickly.
@@MikeM-cz5ln We tried that with the original diagnostic tool and it just didn't have the muscle for it. So we bought a better tool that should have worked and it didn't either (we'll discuss in the next video). We did eventually figure out how to reset the TCM, but it wasn't obvious.
It seems like I spend all my free time editing videos nowadays. Can't wait to show you the outcome.

P0715 Causes
There are many potential causes of code P0715.
Failed input/turbine speed sensor
Failed output speed sensor
Failed torque converter
Faulty wiring
Debris on input/turbine speed sensor
Debris on output speed sensor
Damaged reluctor ring for input/turbine speed sensor
Wow, you really know this stuff. Maybe we shouldn't have trusted the internet and went straight for the conductor plate.

@@carzombies Paul, I actually found this info on the Internet and it makes sense pertaining to the problems you are experiencing. It would be great if your scan tool can graph the data received from the turbine speed sensor. Anyways, I'll bet the sensor is easy to access. I would at least pull the connector off and visually inspect the terminals for corrosion. Maybe check the resistance of the sensor with an ohmmeter to see if it is in spec.
@@MikeM-cz5ln I think we found the problem. Please stay tune to see what it is, it may be a couple of weeks before I have the video edited and posted, but it wasn't the speed sensor, it was something else tangentially related.
