A TRS cable into guitar pedal input is usually a bad idea, because often the switching on is done by a TS jack shorting the ring and sleeve in the socket. The dead giveaway is the fact that the pedal switched on not when you plugged the cable into the pedal, but when you plugged it into the volca. This means the power for the pedal was effectively running along the audio cable and getting connected though the volca. In case it's not obvious, that's not a great situation. I've heard of other people frying the output of other synths doing this.
This Zoom box is used a lot by synth geeks and for good reasons. Going 'DAWless' means getting your effects elsewhere and the Zoom is superb for almost every Xmas shopping list. I do not own one (yet) but heard it enough to know I might want one too.
Cool! I'm a bassist who is getting into synth. I have several devices, and am looking to use some of my pedals that I use for bass on synth. This one is on my list!
I can't say enough about this beautiful beast. One of the best gear for synth lovers. I love so much how it's magical effects combination transform sounds even from a simplest toy synth. I have two of them. One for my mixer's fx return and one for just jamming. I recently found a cheap second hand ms-50g too. Can't wait to see more videos of you playing with this pedal.
This is an excellent addition for your Microfreak and your Model: Cycles. I've been holding off on getting the NTS-1 because I already have this pedal, would love to see a video comparing the MS70CDR and the NTS-1!
Used this on a Microbrute as my lead synth/effects combo for years in a post-punk band. Loved it so much I just bought a MS-100Bbt used for cheap so I can put it on the Liven XFM I just bought. Fantastic for synths even if some of the reverb algos are a little tinny. You just have to work around that. Tonnes of fun and craziness to be had on a synth. PS hackers have found ways to sideload the effects from the whole series of pedals to each other, so you can technically add amp modelers and distortions to this pedal (haven't tried it myself yet).
It’ll work with a usb cable to power itbtw, also check out zoom manager - it’s a free program to add/manage the different effects from different zoom pedals onto the CDR, I took out the effects I didn’t want and added others , helps the pedal to be more focused on what you’ll need. A great and versatile pedal.
I haven’t used a pedal on the floor as a pedal in so long! Most are way to complicated for that. My Beetronix Zombie has so many settings it could never stay on the floor. My back isn’t good enough to bend over while playing and adjust! Lol. It’s s definitely great having options for that! The zoom seems good, I probably way overspent on Earthquaker and EHX now Chase Bliss and Alexander, Eventide, Hell my GT 1000 was $1200 and I barely use it! Truthfully the Behringers, Amoons and Moores are pulling their weight just fine. And I’m very Impressed with Carolyne and Dreadbox but again, the price gets up there. Raindrops was $300 but I’ve never heard another pedal like it! Now the Lethargy, and other Dreadbox will interact modular so they have a triple use! Anyhoo, great video, Peace!
The Dreadbox pedals are really nice, I have the Kinematic but would really like some more. My next pick would be a coin toss between Lethargy and Komorebi. Modular ability was a big selling point as I've been working on a small eurorack setup.
@@SexyNinjaMonkey I have both of them and the disorder plus the Typhon has a pretty handy fx input, like a steroid NTS 1. I don’t have the Kinematic yet though, I don’t need another compressor, that’s never stopped me before though! Lol
i had one for like a year before finally using it... now i just leave it hooked up to my Volca Drum with a compressor. (it's also great with my Pocket Operators & Korg DS-10)
Also install Amp Sim and Dist on it, they are not the best on it but you have every thing on one pedal, The rack compression on it also very good IMO.I got 2 cdr , 1 bass and put on synths I normally use.
I definitely felt that way at first. After spending a while playing with the navigation and menu system I've got a decent handle on it, at least I think so haha. Thanks for watching!
Excellent! Effects pedals were also something I was going to ask you about. And I've seen multiple synth guys using the Zoom MS-70. I see they're on sale right now for $120. I didn't want to buy one at $150. But I'm probably gonna pick one up while they're on sale. For $30 I bought a Behringer FX600 instead of the Zoom MS-70 when I was looking at them. The Behringer (IMO) kinda sucks for a few reasons...I don't recommend.
I'll actually send you the FX-600 if you want to review it yourself. You can keep it afterwards. It's not worth my time selling it. But if it can support the channel, that'd be great.
I also have an fx600, it’s only good as a wildcard pedal meaning if you don’t have a flanger and need one, this pedal will work. Usually I had to spend seven hundred dollars to get a multi effect pedal that only does one at a time! For $30 it’s a great deal just don’t use it as an independent effect. Trust me the H9 needs another h9 to do two effects. As a supplement pedal $30 is a good deal! I just wish it had reverb.
@@rexcellencemagee6729 Sweetwater just had a black friday sale with a few Behringer pedals for $15. I'm trying to do a mostly solar battery powered set up. And while the FX600 does run on a 9V, man it doesn't last long...three days maybe? But yeah it's like I have the whole pedal for one sound flanger sound. And it's the size of three pocket operators stacked.
@@rexcellencemagee6729 thing about effects pedals for me too....maybe for you guys too....but when i start looking to go buy them, i start thinking, 'why don't i just buy a new synth instead'
Interesting. I have one and want to love it so much - the array of effects is truly amazing - but I find it noisy and VERY flat. I do hear that it really needs precise user patching so I need to give that more of a try, but I'm thinking I maybe got a lemon.
Yeah, from what I've heard from others I can tell that the potential is there, just seems like it takes a good amount of time to get everything dialed in just perfect.
Particle is an awesome pedal, in my top 3 under 400 dollars. Strymon is probably number one but $599? The Moore dual reverb is about a hundred and is awesome for the money. This where I use the Behringer fx600, on one side delay and chorus or something on the other. Back in my Poor days! Lol. Now it’s a raindrop with lethargy on one side and darkness on the other with all the envelopes patched together (except raindrops and darkness, don’t have the patch bay or midi) I like the lethargy on one side and krobi on the other patched in envelopes. On two different channels is a trip! Lol
I have the same issue like you around 4 minutes. It's always restarting. Especielly with Pocket Operators. When you plug it into the wall everything works fine. Do you have a Tip?
I experienced erratic behaviour when pluggin a stereo plug into the L(MONO) input jack. Another issue may show up if you use rechargable batteries and don't configure the type used in the pedal settings (alkaline/NiMH).
It's a nice pedal and a lot of effects and all. But for live jamming it's kind of not very useful, changing between effects and altering their parameters is not so easy and just not suited for live usage. More like a set once, then forgot about it effect. Ofc you can kind of play with the dry/wet if you use it on the send of a mixer but that's not always ideal. Also it you can't pre-listen it, and the tempo is only via tapping, can't sync. Therefore I just sold mine to get an NTS-1 instead, but for some usages the Zoom is better ofc.
I think it’s good that you are trying pedals. I think most of them are too expensive when they cost like a synth. But I do acknowledge they really add much value to your current gear. Therefore I’m also very happy this one is so affordable! Really looking forward to seeing you explore this. If I may add I also wish to hear the hear with and without the Zoom pedal to really know what’s going on.
Wouldn't a better test be to use a stereo device(with channel splitter), to test it as its a stereo FX pedal? I don't have one but I believe the Keys is dual mono? Early days tho. 👍 Oh, BTW, if your feeling a little adventurous, this is very hack-able... see ruclips.net/video/Ul-BYkV3PSk/видео.html
