Two tips that help me...1. Turn off autosave, this keeps your favourite chains intact after you've messed about with the parameters. If you like the results of your parameter changes, you can choose to save the chain when desired. 2. Using an empty save slot, create an 'init' chain, without any effects added, (ie a named, but empty chain) and use this one as your go-to chain every time you want to set up a new one-off chain that you don't intend to keep. That way you'll always have a slot free for playtime! :-)
That's what I was looking for, the device itself is so cool, but rather tricky to save own effect chains as amateur musician, thanks for visualizing this. Will try some own settings soon.👍
Thanks for this tutorial! I borrowed an MS-50G from a friend and was pretty lost when I tried messing around with it. I wasn't having much luck finding something that covered just the basics of getting started using one of these pedals until I found your video.
I use a MIDI switching pedal - DOREMIDI - to cycle through patches on the fly, rather than reaching down to fiddle the buttons. It also powers the pedal so on a gig I only need the right leads and a USB power supply.
I love this pedal. I have it permanently hooked to the aux outs of my mixer. It's easily hackable to use distortion and most anything else from the guitar- and bass-specific versions of the pedal. Also, despite the form factor, I can't imagine this as anything other than a tabletop unit.
Great video! Stereo is extremely important! As I posted on yesterday’s, you can run two different effect chains into different sources, in my case amps. I mentioned I can have the left side with a Dreadbox lethargy and the right with the Dreadbox krobli and connect the envelopes so you get both on each side but one is more prominent on each side, an autopingpong if you will! peace! I’d like to point out the effect’s change your synth into something else, it is like buying a whole new synth!
This is on my list, my buying habits are weirs, if I can afford an new module, I look for that, around $600 if I have enough for some pedals I go onto Amazon and get as many different ones as I can, I mostly use them as a starter project, it’s fun to me any, but some these inexpensive pedals sound great all ready! Have a great mini tour! One more thing is like Lore and Fable are more synths than effects, the hologram suite is a must have as well, but I still get inexpensive ones to compare and use as a basis for a mod. I’ve also been known to break em down and make a eurorack of them. When I have a successful mod, I immediately buy it again, I’ve used thr same pedal 3 times doing this! It saves a lot of money compared to buying th parts..Most of mine are didital, IAm not a n analog snob! Great video, and this is one I could make any better, and it’s not exactly price friendly to experiment with it.
Jezus christ... I was going mad crazy about navigating through the fx chains, etc.. I never realized those were black buttons left and right of the large silver button. FML...I thought those icons here just there for looks. THANK YOU!!!
Zoom ms series is quite good. I use the ms60b ( for bass ) and yeah that's the problem when you want to adjust or change effects, you'll have to bend and reach for it. But fortunately, we found a solution for it. The power of DIY 😂
There’s a video how to hack this thing and get more sounds, I’m looking for it, I’ll let you know when I find it. It’s just installing a newer Zoom unit into the firmware. That one’s not stereo though.
Zoom G1X and G1 Four had less menu diving and scrolling as you can see the full chain on it's display and alter them with knobs right near. I chose G1 as it is more immediate but a bit less functionality for sure.
My word If thats the basics just what is this thing capable of? Brilliant video and thank you. I will practice with mine now. And now for the sixty four dollar question.. If I am doing Ambient stuff do I need a Strymon Blue or Big Sky or will this thing do it?
Thank you for video, this is the best i found, easy way explanations and really clear! Can i ask u one thing (im beginner so forgive me), for a synth poly so stereo, we need at least 4 cables 6.3 for 1 synth? 2 cables from audiointerface in pedal and 2 cables from synth into pedal, its correct?
I'm honestly not sure. I Googled it, but all I could find is that the 70 has stereo ins and outs whereas the 50 doesn't, but the 50 has more effects? Sorry I couldn't be more help haha.
Thanks 🙏 it did help a lot. @@FreeBeat I did try. I put in the MF and Korg Kaoss as inputs. The LR outs into the speakers. When I clicked the Delay PP on the pedal I did get a ping pong separation If that says anything 😊
Hi thanks for breaking it down. I’m a bit confused with my peddle though. I understand how you can use the foot switch to turn an individual effect on an off but I can’t work out how to use the foot switch to turn the *whole* chain off so that the pedal is completely bypassed.
Line selector is how, yeah. You put it in front of whatever pedals you want to switch on and off at the same time. You can have things before it in the chain that will remain active, if you wish
It's a convention with stomp boxes. Apparently it's because most guitarists are right-handed so the lead would get in the way if it crossed in front of the player to go into the left side of the pedal.
Hello! In regards to GAS, and me being fascinated with gadgets that bend sound …I have the NTS-1, would this Zoom pedal still be a must have? Thank you so much!
IMHO the nts1 effects are just as good if not better than the zoom, and you can buy or download custom effects for it. The zoom has a wider range of effect types though, like overdrive etc.
I guess I'm not the first to say this but now you need to find the youtube video that tells you how to follow an easy hack so you can load all of the other zoom effects onto it from their other pedals so you can have access to distortion/overdrive and loads of others :)
I have the feeling I'm going to be answering this question a lot haha. I have the pedal on loan from zZounds so I won't be doing that on this channel unless I get my own. Thanks for watching!
They easiest way to make a tutorial is to RTFM and to go online to teach others... some tutorials are even sound like the manual is read behind the camera.
Great pedal, superb effects. The only really really bad thing about it is that it doesn't have a headphone output. That is, the configuration with it is never complete, it always requires something else. When you're in a studio or recording a video, you don't notice that. But if you just want to use it for effects for some synth, it turns out that synth+this pedal is just not enough - you really need yet another device. That's a real shame.
Perfect timing, i was going to finally understand this blue gem, mainly for reverbs and delays. Still looking a decent compressor, the 1st in my list is the empress compressor mkii bass... Any about?

How do you turn autosave off?
@@MeneTekelUpharsin Go to Menu, (press the first knob down), then choose Settings, and then AutoSave (on/off) should be the last option :-)
Particle Reverb (no movement) with a Stereo Panning Delay (slow tempo) works very well on any sound :)
I'll have to give that a shot, thanks!
First thing I did was clear all the effect chains on the device. When you have a completely clean device everything is much easier to understand.
That's a great tip if you already have an idea of what you're after :) This was more for folks who just wanted to use it straight away. Thanks!
Nice short turorial. Becaus it is an Guitarstomper it has a tuner in it too. I use this to tune samples which i recorded of myself.
That's awesome!

Right? It's like it was made to just be hand controlled. I feel like I'll really screw something up if I ever stomped on it!
It definitely seems like it was intended to be used by hand haha. Thanks for watching!

How to bypass or turn off all the fx in presets? Because the toggle button in the middle is for turning on/off only one fx in a chain?
Great demo 😊
What are the differences b/w zoom ms-70cdr vs ms-50g? Which one should we buy if our budget is enough for only one zoom pedal? Thanks!

I enter presets without effects in order to bypass the pedal quickly. About every third preset of mine will be empty .
Mine keeps infinitely restarting itself when battery is low. Can that be mended?

there is a way to install more effects on the unit, including amp sims and distortion. I did it to my MS-50G and I'm sure it would work on the 70.

This is why you need the dude mixer. Great portable 4track mixer
It does not have an amp sim in it. If it did I could understand the desire to have a headphone jack
put a y-splitter on the output?
@jw112mail Using Zoom Effect Manager you can load amp simulations from some of the other Zoom pedals to the CDR.
