Opeongo Lake (13 nights) this past August was the ending of my 62 straight days of camping in Algonquin Park (without a campfire of any kind due to the fire ban...WHICH REALLY SUCKED) after Grand Lake (14 nights), Sec Lake (14 nights) and Lake Traverse (21 nights). It seems like your last campsite on the South Arm looked familiar to me as I think this is the site I stayed on. There was a tiny island just offshore of the landing with a no camping sign on it. Myself being able to take at least one interior trip (of at least 3 nights) from every access point in Algonquin Park over 50+ years is a true blessing for me. Your trip to Annie Bay struck a great feeling within me and is now on my list of Algonquin Park trips next year as, like you, I truly love this majestic lake called Opeongo. Just for the record, camping in the South Arm many years ago on Labour Day weekend with my buddy Mark Rubino, we spotted 101 loons gathering in front of our campsite. And like you mentioned, a sighting like this is definitely worth your trip. Looking forward to viewing your trips next year! Take care!

Looks like a fun trip Kevin! Evan got to hang out with the gang! Andy's story reminded me of a story I have. I was riding my bike down a gravel road in Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park one summer and saw a grouse beside the road. Usually they don't care, just watch you ride by or walk right in front of you. Anyway, I looked back to look at the grouse again and saw it flying behind me! It was chasing me on my bike! I biked faster and I guess it gave up and stopped flying. So that was kind of funny lol! I figure it must have had a nest right beside the road.

Late to this video, but (a) mint sauce after cooking, and (b) the term “Scotch Whisky” can only be used for whisky from Scotland. The spelling of Whisky (no “e”) is what is used for whiskies from Scotland, Japan, Canada and India (yep, India). Ireland and America use the “e” spelling. The term “Scotch” is only used for Scottish whisky. 😎👍

I have also witnessed the loons gather on Opeongo years ago. There seemed to be even more than what you have on camera here. At the time I didn't know why. I'd never seen a flock of loon flying south so I was stumped. I've read the same things as you mentioned here. It is a truly amazing sight to see. Side note I saw the very recognizable "Happy Camper" canoe pulling into the Algonquin Store in Whitney on Sept 28th as I was on my way into the park for a 5 nighter. Didn't want to bother you with "fan interference" so I didn't U-turn. Great Video! Opeongo is breathtaking in good conditions. A nightmare in poor.

Hi Kevin, I've been a subscriber for a good while but I don't do many comments, but Andy's recollection of an encounter with a " devil grouse " gave me a chill, it sounded very similar to a haggis attack in Scotland, I am English but when we visit we never go out in the dark alone, even for the personal reasons, you cannot defend yourself while pre occupied, it looked an amazing trip with great friends in a fantastic location, looking forward to seeing more, stay safe my friend.

Just watched another vid from Opeongo by Jen from the wild yam channel. Hers was similar but a fresher face than the old f*rts on this one . Evan just wasn't cutting it as the 'new' face . Guess you had to be there to be laughing all the time like Kevin. Could have saved the day with some nice fish but nada on that too. Loved the # 2 comments as this was real campsite humour .Add some gas passing denials in the tent and you have a winning video.
PS cudos to Kevin on helping with kids getting into canoeing .He ought be nominated for the order of Canada
