Hi Simo. Thanks for watching and commenting. I was a bit disappointed with the backboard side but it was so difficult to do anything in that small space. You're right, once it's got scenery on it will look good. Looking forward to doing that but next. Cheers, John.
Hi John - It has come out very well and the long shot down the track looking towards the hillside shows it off nicely. Somtimes the old ways are just as good and a lot cheaper too. Cheers Kev
Hi Kev. Thanks for that. 😊 I'm going to try to put together a camera stand that I can clip to the back boards for shots of stuff coming up and down the incline because as you and Anthony have said it is a nice view. I'm really pleased with how it's all turned out, and the fact I've done most of it with stuff I just had lying around. Cheers, John.
Hi Anthony. Thanks very much. Not sure if it's tricks of the trade or just bodging and hoping for the best. 😂 It's a very difficult area to film in, I'm stretching across the tables so the fly through worked well to show all the work. Cheers, John.
Hi Chris. Thanks for watching and commenting. I've just completed the scenic details and it's came out great. I've posted a vid showing what I did. It all fills that corner really well and I'm very pleased with it. Cheers, John.
Hi Barra. Thanks for watching and commenting. It's worked out really well, and you're right about shaping and covering mistakes. Having great fun adding all the scenic stuff just now, video will be coming soon of that. Cheers, John.
@@GreenhillJunction I started my layout a couple of months ago and I am learning all the time from people, like yourself, that are good enough to share their experiences on RUclips. I have found the modelling community to be a great bunch of people that are only too keen to help. I'm doing a loose representation of Levenmouth in Fife.
@@barra8771 @Barra RUclips is where I learned all about model railways after a long hiatus. I hadn't even heard of DCC when I started again about 5 years ago! Good luck with your layout you'll have great fun building it. I didn't really base mine on anything, just called it after a nearby junction. Cheers, John.
Hi John it looks fantastic.its great to see the old methods used . I do the same . It's cleaner than all the shavings off the insulation board. And the hoover over heating 😂. Your Layout is very good. Lots of thought and planning so important. The scenic boards are good. I used ID Back scenes took my time did everything correctly still got a few wrinkles in i 12:52 t.😂 Once all the Trees a and Bushes are on it looks great. Great Presentation. Thank you for sharing. It's a wonderful Layout well done. Best wishes Richard Canterbury Kent
Hi Richard. Thanks for watching and your very kind comments. I'm so glad you like my videos and how I go about planning and building the layout. It may be an old method but it still works and is far cheaper than all the modern stuff, and as far as I'm concerned gives the same results. I've just done some more backscenes for my next video, and have found a way to apply them much easier and cheaper than in this video. Hope to get that video done in a couple of weeks. Cheers, John.
Hi Ethan. Thanks for watching and commenting. I have my grandad's layout too. It's stored in my mum and dad's loft. Don't think it will ever run again but it has so many memories attached to it. Glad you liked my video. Cheers, John.
@@GreenhillJunction thank you for the reply yeah my family just doesn't understand why I keep it one day I hope that I'll be able to put some more track on it and use it again I just cannot bear to throw it away or sell it
I have a small engine shed on this layout that my grandad built for his and I'm waiting to get a small station building to see if that will fit in the upper station too.
Looking good. Great use of materials for such a small space. Will look fine when done

Great video. I love the walk through and seeing your tricks of the trade here. You do great work! Cheers!

Hiya John, that’s looking very good. Once completed would look great and forms a very good transition from levels. Cheers Chris

Paper mache is great stuff for creating landscapes, it will take any shape and cover up a multitude of sins. Your layout is looking really good 👍
