The people, vehicles, street furniture & accessories make a huge difference John, they really bring the layout to life. Your layout is coming on massively & looking superb, really nice work.........Andy

Hi Andy. Thank you so much! ☺️ It has brought those scenes to life now and I enjoy looking at them for angles to view the trains at, rather than it just being a bare scene. I'll need to do some work on the main station at some point to add some more stuff. Cheers, John.

WOW! Been a bit since we got the look around, but yes, all the little additions stand out... the scenes (stories, as we say) really flow and even my wife was heavily admiring the looks and work! Well done!!

Hi Anthony. Thanks so much. I had to make the 3 scenes work together, or at least the village, road and good yard. Glad you both enjoyed seeing what I'd done. Cheers, John.

The areas you have detailed look really good and have provided some much-needed inspiration, thanks for a great vid. Chris

Hi Chris. Thank you so much and I'm glad it's given you some inspiration. I go through periods of indifference towards doing work on the railway too, and would've had this video out sooner had I had more motivation. Cheers, John.

I love the progress, the farm has really come to life now. I think the farm area is my favourite part but the goods yard is a very close second

Hi Andrew. Thanks very much for watching and commenting. I really like the farm too, maybe because it's the easiest area for me to sit at and look across at the trains. I'm really happy with how this all turned out. 😁 Cheers, John.

Hi Frankkie. I'm happy you like the work that I've done. I really enjoy developing these scenes, yet managing not to spend too much money doing it. Makes me happy that other people are enjoying how the layout is developing too. Cheers, John.

@@GreenhillJunction hello John, I look at your layout and it is very nice, I never thought of using a smaller building as a milking station..I’m used to large barns..so there’s plenty of room for me to get some fresh ideas from you and others I view. Overall I think you have a great idea for your layout and it’s very easy to get lost in that world..I use unpainted figures to back fill areas with people. I paint them with water based paints cheap paint and works well..saves money..I only buy special people as I need them..Yes they are expensive.. I don’t know if you have e bay in the UK . Lots of good things cheap even Amazon has some cheap people sets..well enjoy and take care..

Hi. Only a select amount of people with excellent choice in TV series (and of a certain age!) would get that reference. 🤣🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting, glad you like the work I've done. Cheers, John.

Hi John your detail is excellent in the village the field farm yard and railway yard. As you said the devil is in the detail and so it was. Loving the Tunnocks van in the yard. Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year. Regards Tom

Hi Tom. Thanks so much for your continued support. It was great working on these scenes and seeing them develop with the details. The Tunnocks van will always be prominent on the layout 😁. Cheers, John.

Love your scenes. Window cleaner looking good. Hay/Straw bales look a bit big, I am glad the bales were not that big when I was forking them up on to the trailer 🙂. Love the video, well done and great running at the end.

Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you like the scenes. I agree the hay bales are a bit big, I only realised when I put them in the trailer. They are meant to be 00 gauge, I guess it all comes down to what farmers hay bales they measured. 🤷‍♂️ I enjoyed making the running scenes at the end. Cheers, John.

    Hi John
You have made great progress and the little details make all the difference. You can make some nice little cameos as you have done.
The running shots at the end show them off well.
    Cheers Kev

I use different colour Sharpie pens to paint in small detail work such as the bands on the whisky barrels, nice modelling anyway, pleasant to watch.

Hi Adrian. That's a really good idea, I'd never even considered it despite having a black Sharpie in the railway room. Cheers for that. 👍 John.

love all this - learnt loads thanks. I probably missed it in all your videos, but the road from the yard to the village up top - did you make it (and if so how?) or is it available to purchase (but i can't see where from). Pls advise and keep up the great work.

Hi. So the ramp is just the Metcalfe one, but then I added the road surface using the Geoscenics Pot Hole Road Kit (Product number PH600) which gives the nice textured surface. Cheers, John.

It would be even more interesting if the vehicles and buildings are weathered to give realism, otherwise the scene looks like a toy town.

    • @GreenhillJunction
      @GreenhillJunction  9 месяцев назад

Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting. I don't really bother with weathering, apart from on a few wee things. At the end of the day it is a big adult toy to me, and while I take inspiration from the real world, I like it looking a bit too clean. Cheers, John.
