      Hi Phil. Thanks very much. I'm really pleased with it and hope to continue the standard of work through the rest of the village. It gives me a real focal point now and I love watching the trains go across the level crossing. Cheers, John.

      Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting. The village build has been one of my favourites, so many little diaramas in one big scene to make it look like a functioning village. I still love watching the trains run past the village. Cheers, John.

    Metcalfe kits are great. I only changed to plastic because I'm in the loft. You can build a large town on a budget. I use pepper shakers for finer scatter as you can pin point it better than a open bag or fingers. Great update. Starting to come to life now. 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻

      Hi Simo. I remember watching your video about the pepper shakers, thinking it was a great idea then I've went and forgotten about it! 🙄 I'll give that a go for the next section of road and see how I get on. Totally agree with you on the Metcalfe Kits. You get so much for not a lot of money. I'm lucky I'm in a bedroom so don't have to worry about fluctuations in temperature and moisture. Cheers, John.

    Very nice work. I really like how the crossing and the road turned out. Great job. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers - Larry.

      Hi Larry. Thanks very much. I was trying hard to make it as accurate and realistic as possible. The Geoscenics kit is great for producing a textured road surface. The whole scene was a lot of work but very satisfying in the end. Cheers, John.

    Awesome, JOhn... Just awesome! I love the road kitand how it all came out. The park is cool, and yes, playgrounds when I was a kid in the 60s were often on concrete here in the USA. Fantastic work and your eye for detail shows brilliantly! CHeers!

      Hi Anthony. Thanks very much. The road kit is brilliant and not very expensive, I'm sure it was around £10 delivered and it will do many metres of roadway. Glad I asked my mum and dad about the part before I committed to it to get it accurate. I really appreciate you saying I've got a good eye for detail, makes me berry happy. 😊 Cheers, John.

    Hi John- Great work on the village and what a super result. I do like that road system as it gives a nice 3d look to the road and that whole level crossing scene has worked well and is giving some very nice shots. The cafe into park scene looks really good and I like the park and the raised beds do look raised !! I stumbled accross park equiptment that was 3D printed so no fiddly construction but then your see saw moves LOL. Lastly I love the fence and the worn look works really well as does the wooden planking accross the tracks .
    Looking forward to what comes next .........................Cheers Kev

      Hi Kev. Thanks so much. It's been worth all the work and I'm really grateful for all the lovely comments I'm getting. Pressure is on to do as good a job in the next section! 😂 Where did you find the 3D printed equipment? I searched for ages and only the Noch stuff came up. Cheers, John.

    Really impressive stuff John, your planning is first class & has certainly paid off in the end result. You've created a wonderful village & park scene and managed to capture a "worn" look with the crossing, fences & the road surface. Really nice modelling my friend, like it. For the road markings try a "Uni Paint Marker" or "Uni Posca" they are a couple of quid from The Range, makes thing a whole lot easier. Excellent seafoam trees by the way :) Looking forward to the next part of the village build, all the best..........Andy

    • @GreenhillJunction
      @GreenhillJunction  3 года назад

      Hi Andy. I do think a lot before I commit to anything, hence the reason for the delay in getting videos published. Some times I just sit and look at it for ages, mulling ideas over in head. I think it's good to show the planning process so viewers can be part of the process.
      I'll admit the worn look on the fence and crossing is down to painting unprimed wood and it's just down to how the paint dries, more luck than skill, but it does look good. 😂
      Thanks for the suggestion for the white lines. They're is a Range store close to home so I'll pop in to get one.
      Cheers, John.

  • @moorlandmodelrailwayandy

    I like the look of the fence looks oldish and a bit damaged. The road surface looks good also especially as you've got the different colours. I've got a stencil for doing lines and road signs and I also had lots of bleeding under it. I found using thicker paint and a fine brush worked better. The whole scene looks excellent atb Andy

    • @GreenhillJunction
      @GreenhillJunction  3 года назад +1

      Hi Andy. Reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's had white line issues! The paint is quite watery. I was thinking of trying a white paint marker to see if that works better. I was so annoyed at that cause it's an important part of the scene! The Geoscenics kit is excellent for doing a road surface and it's not expensive either. Cheers, John.

The intro shot is one of my favourites, I think it looks quite true to life and I'm glad I raised the gates up to the level of the track. Cheers, John.
