FLY FISHING THE SAN JUAN IN MAY - NMAKTIMA FLY FISHING

It was memorial weekend and had no plan. Forest fires kept most of northern New Mexico fisheries closed, so we loaded up and went to the Juan. Always fun times spend a day out on the water with those I love. Cheers and thank you for watching!

Thanks for the video. Good work. Could you tell me how you fish the unweighted midges (do you Euro nymph them using some added weight, do you use a bobber, etc.)?

I do put on an indicator when I fish midges in that slow deep water. The indicator helps give a truer drift. I have it broken down in some of my previous vids on fishing the San Juan. Thanks for watching.

Never have fished that river. The fish look fantastic. Any tips on the best time of year? Would love to make a road trip to this area. One last question is there alot of area to wade fish or is it mainly a floaters river.

I am using a 3 wt weight forward, but its flipped backwards so I am fishing the running line. Truthfully I would rather use a double taper 2wt, but we didint have one in the shop when I spooled up the reel. Next line will be a DT2F.
