  • In this video I'm Fly Fishing the San Juan River New Mexico for trout. This is part 2 of my series of fly fishing for monster trout on the San Juan River. All I can say is, it was awesome! So many giant brown trout and huge rainbow trout!
    I had to make this video 2 parts. Wade fished for 4 days and kayak fished one day. Hope you guys like the video.

    Thanks for making this. Good memories. My home water for 3 years during the glory years of the 1980s. When the flows were consistent, water temps were in the low 40s year round, not a brown to be found above Cottonwood Campground and rainbows is the 20’s even 30s everywhere.

      Love using my kayak, been a weird year...avoided getting shuttles or I would have used it more on my tailwaters. But, redfish season is here for me, so hopefully no more hurricanes in sela!

    The San Juan is such a goofy trout fishery!!..LOL.......Like fishing in an aquarium in places.....but it sure is fun......I went 4 times a year back in the 90's for a decade.........Does the water still run a cold 40 degrees?.......Great video!!

    Started fly fishing the SJR last year and knowing that you come here every year is an extra movitation to keep fishing that amazing river. Hopefully one day I’ll find you fishing on the river. PS: do you come here in NM always around February-March? I’ve seen in one of your recent videos that you were back on the SJR a month ago or so. Anyway, love your channel man. Keep up the great fishing and great work 🤙

    Great 2 vids on the SJ! I live just north of Nashville and taking my father-in-law there as soon as the park opens back up, planning on camping at the Navajo Dam park. Ive fished it years ago and was like you, one of my top destinations for sure. I tie all of my flies and the tailwaters around here are pretty much a midge fishery like the SJ...what patterns/colors were they liking and were the dries adults or emergers? Cant wait to get out there!

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  4 года назад +2

      Thank you! Mostly black midges. Had the most success with a poly wing emerger. Dries were great in the afternoon sz 22 mostly behind a larger pattern I could see...no name for it just something I came up with.
