Another quick tip about the loot filter is that above conditions can be used to show you particular affixes that you don't want for your character, but need in order to do a glyph of chaos swap on an item (more useful in the early game). So you can quickly place a RECOLOR rule on top of all your rules and play for a bit so that the item that you don't need for that build, but need for shattering so you'll get your shard will now show on the ground and be bold. It's also useful as a reminder if you know you're running low on some shards that are actually permitted by the loot filter but not recolored in any form. Recolor them temporarily so that it will serve as a reminder while you're fighting monsters that you should shatter that right away so you won't forget.
To extend on 5:50 on reasons to take chances. Even if it doesnt work out, chances are youll have 2 or 3 good affixes and tiers by the end, and if you get some LP2 or w.e. items you can just feed them with that instead of gambling your current equipment for the upgrade.
There are more side quests with passive skill points than the max allowed. That’s why you were seeing the quest reward. But you won’t get the extra point if you complete it, if you’ve already maxed them out.
I think if it's the first time playing the game and you're going in blind, Circle of Fortune is fine because you don't know what you need so you can't trade for it anyways. On top of that it takes until tier 8 or something in Merchants before you can start trading Uniques with LP I believe. Further, you have to spend your favor putting trades up to increase your level which frankly sounds like a pain in the socks. Merchants is good if you're an experienced player who knows exactly what you want and what it's worth. I'm not interested in trading so I'll just take my chances with CoF. Who has the energy to do a bunch of busy work just to level up when I can get showers of loot raining down on me? :P
I avoided seeing content on this game till I played it myself on release, never played any Diablo games either, only PoE. I've never finished all the bosses in PoE, mostly due to previous pc fps issues making it impossible, and RF being the only build that let me play comfortably, I've never been a boss killer, but I could have fun playing quite a bit for the majority of a couple months on new league launches and I regularly hit at least lvl 95 on 1 character and past few leagues I've also done a second RF either being inquisitor or juggernaut, whichever I didn't leaguestart, and making it to at least 85-90. I've only made it to lvl 87, and all I can say for this game is I hope they revamp the entire endgame and a lot about class customization, I understand they're doing the league thing or "cycles", but unlocking empowered monoliths was nothing but a time sync, just to find out it's the same time sync after that for trying to farm gear and crafting shards with slightly harder monsters and nothing else to do for progression. I'm not sure if I'm missing something, as this might only be my 3rd video watched about the game, but if there's more to this then it is definitely not obvious to someone who tried to have a completely blind run of it. The faction gear locking also seemed cool to start with, but feels more like a "would you like to play SSF/trade mode" except not transparent at all and if you are playing online and not choosing merchants, all the hours I spent grinding CoF and gear from it was basically wasted as I'd have to spend more hours making replacement gear that isn't locked just to swap, then another tedious faction grind to get to a tier in merchants where I can actually buy things near the same tier in stats as the gear I can no longer use before then trying to upgrade.
CoF is weird. It's like a season mechanic with the prophecies and progression, but you're forced to lock yourself out of trade. I wish they had like... Diet Prophecies for MG. It's fun getting the currency, choosing them, and completing them. That's what makes PoE so addictive. The intertwined progression systems.
Get more points, one way or another, then move them around. You always have to have 20 points in total in your base tree though, no getting out of that one.
If you have a build ready, it should tell you what you need. If you're just exploring, you can always save some items you like to shatter later. There's no point in buffing your gear unless you're struggling in my opinion. You can always save gear you think seems cool since the first dozen stash tabs are much cheaper than shattering. I'm only lvl 80 but I've only had problems with one boss so far.
i dont really agree with merchant being better than CoF. CoF allows not only gear target farming but if you reroll enough times you can also target HOW you get that targeted unique type. and you need rank 7 of merchant gear to buy and trade uniques which takes a very long time to get. not to mention - the prices people want for stuff for the popular classes like falconer are hitting in the millions already for 2lp.
Ive been playing for 40+ hours this cycle, spending all my points on Unique dagger prophecies, have found over 100 of the dagger, never have found a 2+. I have found 1 tier 4 legendary potential item. Its clear buying these things would be a LOT quicker
CoF is better for Causal and players who hate trade. Merch will always be better if your going to invest alot of time in the game because eventually you'll be able to level up your faction to be able to buy the items you need to min max your build quicker and certain rather than relying on rng and luck.

I don’t really understand forging. I don’t play games like this. Can I just use what I find and forget the forging? I don’t really like all that stuff. I just want to play.

10:48 not a bug, There are more passive/idol quests than you need for maxing both, no need to 100% all side quests etc

there are more passive and idol points from the side quests than you can actually get. i think its intended so you dont have to min max the campaign
Lol I just said the same thing then deleted it after I saw this
Ahhh, gotcha

It tells me I can't take things out because I need 20 points for my specialty.

I have already few 3lp items so it is not that bad.
Is there any point of shattering when your only in the level 20s? 1st play through. Same with forging gear at that level?
Yep, you should be shattering affix's that the build is gonna use and you get enough shards you should be crafting as you level also.
