Thanks for taking the time to do the video. You don't need the resizing tool for those high pressure seals. What you do is lube them up, install them. Then wrap them and the shaft as tight as you can with electrical tape. Maybe 5 times around, then you take a screw on type adjustable hose clamp and tighten it as hard as you can. After 45 mins or so, you are good to go. Remove the clamp and the electrical tape. I learned this technique on hydraulic seals. Works great.
Figured I would add some value so you can take the transmission goodness one little step further. ;)

I have that same transmission and it vibrates pretty good when I get on it only happens in second gear

Ive gotta either try this or just pay for a overhaul and stay away from the used $500 craigslist deals. My truck has eaten 3 torque converters in the last year.
My 5R11OW decided to die on me late at night in my E350. Loud bang while shifting to third. No more power to the wheels. who knows.. maybe FORD decided to ground the transmission pump to the alternator, Or bad coast gear weld, or dead solenoids.. its all a big mystery
My 5r110w has no reverse "at all" hard jump/lunge forward when going into drive, driving the truck down the road it'll take the 2 gears then slip... once it slips tow/haul light will blink then it wont slip forward gears anymore just no over drive or reverse from then on. Any tips greatly appreciated!
How can you tell one from the other trans
How much would you charge for rebuild like this if a customer sends you their transmission??
I got a high mileage 5R110 in my excursion. What’s a stock + rebuild cost? Wondering if I can just bring you the trans. Probably just buy a new converter.
Do you have a link or name of a cost effective rebuild/overhaul kit? I have the cab off my truck, doing a full rebuild and bulletproof of the engine. Not adding a bunch of horsepower, just want it in good condition. While the cab is off and engine removed, I might as well do a tranny overhaul as the truck has 225,000 miles on it. What is na decent kit to overhaul the transmission. I don't need high performance, i just want the tranny to last with the engine for a couple hundred thousand more miles without needing any major repairs. Can you do a video on how to replace the input shaft on the 5r110w? I cant find a video or a how to write up on it anywhere.
The input shaft just pulls straight out the front pump. No disassembly
Would the rebuild be the same even with a PTO trans case? Do you have any links for a DIY guide on how to rebuild them? Some things are skipped in the video. I appreciate you posting this though, there’s no clear videos on the 5R110
What all do you need to know that I missed? Sorry if I did! As far as I know the PTO is the same just has a different drum. The ATSG manual I referenced really covers EVERYTHING when it comes to rebuilding these. Call Matt at Randy’s Transmission or Joe at Performance Transmission Products for any parts!
@@FrankBUILTperformance nah you didn’t really miss anything too crazy, i guess it was the springs installing them in the pump. There’s so many clutches I gotta figure out, looks complicated for sure. I have no problem rebuilding engines just want to get into transmissions. I really appreciate the video.
Can the ATSG manual be found online or purchased anywhere?

@@leozavaroff9055 awesome! I was the same way, first started building Allisons when I had my Dmax and started with RUclips videos and ATSG manual. That’s why I wanted to give back! Take your time, double check everything, follow the video / manual and you should be good! Driving this truck now and it runs great. Nice clean, crisp shifts.
@@FrankBUILTperformance I don’t even know what’s wrong with mine to be honest, I have an SCT tune but all it is an EcoBeast tune
Pretty rough shifts and now it seems like it’s not shifting until like 3K RPM.
Fluid isn’t red on the dipstick looks orange, kind of smells burnt.
I’m debating on doing a flush but trying to prepare for the worst. 🤷🏻♂️

Thanks for the video.I am going to try to rebuild my spare.I use my truck to tow my camper,however it’s tuned and has bigger injectors ,turbo and cam.What sort of rebuild do you recommend,meaning similar to video or should more upgrades be done,since I have more done to my truck? Thanks
I would at least upgrade to a Goerend billet triple disk & billet input
