Love this video bro. I am doing this the exact same thing too my 2006 . And yes you are right Front covers are a biootch to find. Lol I am actually buying everything first before sending to my builder. Can't really afford to buy all at once. But with videos like these they really help with information needed to purchase certain parts. So thank you very much for this video.
I’m doing the same thing man. Stockpiling parts before I tear into it. Thinking about buying used heads and having them tested and machined so I can just swap them out once I’m to that stage.
@JTickleBowling I think it's the best thing to do if you have a backup vehicle. Because paying everything at once can get costly. Buy little at a time. I strongly recommend getting all the sensors new. And oem. Crank sensor. Cam senor. Oil pressure sensor etc etc. It will save you a big headache in the long run if you do it now when the truck is torn down
Love seeing this. Currently swapping my dads 6.0 (studded and kc turbo). He out over 500k on the original but the turbo and head gaskets failed. Love seeing 6.0 videos can’t wait to see more videos of this 6.0 🙏🏽
In my machine shop I like to drill and tap the high pressure oil galley plug. I've seen them push out after a rebuild and you have to pull the cam to replace it.
Hey I have a 07 60 f250 powerstroke diesel and I replace the fuel filters all-nighter starter twice for injectors 2 and 4 twice and all it does is sit there and crank
thanks for the info about to be digging into my dad's 6.0 and try to figure out what's wrong with it though planning on doing a full rebuild once I can gather up all the parts so I can turn it into my work truck because that long bed would be much better at hauling commercial HVAC equipment
What does a kit like this run without labor? I have an 07 6.0 I've been thinking of rebuilding soon. Would love to drop it off to you but I'm up in michigan unfortunately.
Ive had a BPD Air to Oil cooler for years on my truck with no issues. My truck mostly moves parts, tows and occasionally goes to the track, in the 13s 1/4 mile. Is there a point at which the cooler becomes a problem? Or, was it a reliability thing? What should I be looking out for if I should be...
I have also had a BPD Air to Oil cooler for years on my 6.0 with no issues. In fact the exact opposite my oil and coolant temps are much lower and also don’t seem to even rise as much under heavy loads as they did with the stock set up so I’m not really sure what he is talking about. I also don’t see how he has addressed the design flaw of the stock oil cooler being the primary oil filter. Also how expensive it is to change out this part. I changed out two before I switched to the oil to air system and have never looked back. To each their own I guess.
@@zeuswwr6295 Yeah, same here. I have seen where other kits use the stock oil cooler, but remote mount it. Which, I think is cool, but you still only remove so much heat, and your dependent on engine coolant to do it. So, the delta is smaller. If there really is a problem, Id like to know before I get bit. You know how it is with these trucks, you really have to have your ear to the ground for possible problems.
Just been my experience with them. Not a fan of the price, the extra parts, prefer liquid cooling, etc. However, I'm also a mechanic so changing an OE cooler isn't a big deal to me. To each their own.
I “may” be slightly anal…..but from what I have estimated, I’m looking at $20k to do a reliable build. That includes Many things, (Full Kit…pistons/bearings…..heads and turbo and Ofcourse elimination of some “crap”. With All that said, I don’t know if it’s worth it compared to a gas option. @@travis1572 thanks for the reply, Travis. Since then, I’ve reconsidered the diesel thing. Although diesel has it’s place, I haven’t the justification for said truck. But to spend A Lot of $’s for a truck that is needed 10% of the time…..not worth it for me. With that said, I still like the 6.0…..that is a unique “reving motor”😁😁 Thanks again.

You can't compare a gasser to a diesel, 2 completely different engines. A 6.0L is a great motor if it's done right and maintenanced right
20k that's big money 💰 just for a engine
I'd have to really think about it 🤔

I wonder how much money was spent on this 6.0?
I was about $18k into it, including buying the truck. Not counting my labor & of course parts at cost.
