I did a K&N cold air intake, & straight piped my old 2003, with 5" pipe, and a big ole fat tip. It sounded like a jet engine on steroids. I also did a custom billet grille, & all new after market lights. Unfortunately, I traded it in, to get my mom a decent new car, to go back and forth to the cancer doctor, before she passed away. I miss my old truck, but mom way more. Love the channel, keep up the good work!

xv70 1 leaving it stock ( mufflers and cats ) keeps the existing exhaust flow obstructions there, causing slightly higher egts. When you straight pipe a 6.0, it lets the engine breathe better, it can get those hot exhaust gasses out better. It’s simple logic
I completely agree with you not buying a new 6.7, that 6.0 will tow anything you want it to and it will last now that youve addressed all the problems with it
Good video guys! I had an 07 and loved it,I did all of the work on it myself to get it spot on. I fabricated everything myself because the Bulletproof kit was way out of my budget. I kept my EOT and ECT temps within 3 degrees of each other after that and I loved the truck!
Mt friend just learned a hard lesson after bulletproofing his 04. He had to shave his heads because the engine got overheated. 30,000 miles later the camshaft failed. The reason> He forgot to account for the shaved heads and his push rods were the stock length causing premature camshaft wear.
The pre-07 diesels seem to be increasing in value. Especially the once hated upon 6.0's which seem to be great motors when the emission garbage gets corrected.
Oh I love that sound when it first started. I pray my 94.000 mile 2006 6.0 sounds like that again. 10 days ago my Daughter had to take my baby to School and stopped and put Gas in it. Then she drove 7 miles to school and 7 miles home....I will be Praying. I'm a single parent about 2 put 2 kids threw Collage. Hopefully JRB Preformance can make her sound like yours. Congrats on your build. Sounds great also really great Video. I will definitely subscribe.
I straight piped my 03' for a short time. It was just too much noise for me while towing long trips. I put a series 50 Flowmaster on it. It is perfect for the classic 6.0 Powerstroke sounds with a whistle spool down sound just like jet engines sound like. It makes people ask what the hell is under the hood of the truck. It still has a little cruse speeds noise. But not a dronish tone.
Our 6.0 f450 chip truck lifted the head @ 130k today been pulling 8k lb chipper and full load of chips 6 days a week for 8 years since day we got it though so it's getting as bullet proofed as it can now. ..
I'm really happy for you guys. I just bought a 2004 f350 6.0 for $2300. It's a rust bucket, previous snow plow truck . Was running like brand new until I decided to change the fuel filter. I destroyed the bowl trying to remove the cap😭. Wish I had the money 💰 to bullet proof mine😞.
For less than the cost of all the bpd parts you could have a reman engine from ashville engines with a upgraded cam and coated pistons. Then you have a basically new engine.
Great video and very informative I am having my 03 350 6.0 BP'D at A&J automotive in Henderson, NV I am looking forward to the end result. I will keep you informed, thanks!
Then you start to add things like roof rack and related accessories, a nice front bull bar, some (not oversized) mudflaps, and a bed bar. And some side runners.
I have an e99 7.3l stock and the straight pipe sounds awesome... any straight pipe turbocharged engine sounds awesome. Don't forget the turbo muffles the engine noise too... just with some added jet engine noises.
Yoooo I thought you looked familiar lol I used to watch some of your old car videos about driving to school. It’s cool to see what you’ve done since you graduated and stuff, been trying to do this kind of thing myself but in a slower manner lol Congrats on the hard work and still making videos, and I hope you are staying healthy right now 👍🏼
Dude, I love it. I lived in Fort Myers, Florida and I have an 2004 F350 with a 6.0 and it has over 300,000 miles. My dad took to Sam Ford and they try to fix it and failed, it cost him a lot and couldn't get that money back. Is been 5 months, the past week it stop working. I try looking for a great mechanic but idk who to talk to. I feel like, I would be wasting my time talking to each person and start charging me. Idk man,
If your going to do a exhaust, straight pipe it, I recommend doing a 5 inch exhaust from the down pipe back. You won’t regret it, the 6.0 is the best sound Diesel out there. I Have a 5 inch on my 2015 6.7 and couldn’t be happier, adds a bit more of a Rumble compared to a 4 inch. My buddy has a 04 6.0 with a 4 inch and it can be a little over whelming in the cab, while I have another friend with an 05 crew cab with a 5 inch all the way back and the cab noise is significantly less and not as overwhelming, all while sounding great outside.
waimeagavin808 No, from the down pipe back, my truck is a 5” from the down pipe back, it jumps from 3.5” to a 5”. Atleast that’s with the 6.7 exhaust set ups, no need to do a down pipe. In theory you could call it a turbo back exhaust, can jump the down pipe up to 4” if you want.
straight pipe is awesome! thats my set up on my 06 with the powermax..but if you need a muffler.. check out aeroturbine mufflers! we have one on our excursion and sounds really good. we have the one with the resonator and it takes the "drone" out but i think next one will be without resonator haha
4 inch turbo back with a muffler. you can always take the muffler off if you want it to be louder. but with my experience towing with a straight piped truck it gets to be a little much on long trips. if you get on it the truck will still be loud. it just wont have a bad drone to it while running 80mph on the highway
How much did all of this cost on the three stage bullet proof with that company you used to fix your truck? I’m considering buying a 2003 6.0 F350, so very interested on how much it cost to fix your truck.
Honestly I work for Ford I own a 7.3, but the 6.0 you would need studs, o dawg, kc stage 3 turbo, 4inch down pipe to 5inch back, 1023 tunes honestly the best thing for these trucks
I'm highly critical of RUclips videos... nice job. Cram packed full of interesting content. I like build videos that don't stretch on for 1548643 episodes. Again, nice work
I’ve got 2 06’ 6.0s that are nice, both have damage on the same spot, back side of the cab. Im gonna bulletproof both, and shove one into a 13’ Durango.
4 inch straight pipe exhaust. You don’t need a new down pipe, just straight 4 inch from the down pipe back. Deleting the cat and muffler will make a huge difference in performance. To go along with the exhaust, find a good tuning company that has a good reputation with 6.0’s, that will give you a huge difference in power, along with gaining much better fuel mileage on the highway.
Do a straight pipe but make sure to do a mbrp 5 inch its a much better sound then a 4 inch it will sound awesome and i know youre doing one thing at a time but with a straight and new air intake and with some custom tow tuning for the towing that youre gonna use this truck for it would be the dream truck for you i can guarantee you that lots of power for sure
I want to know how much did it cost and how long did it to do all that to the 6.0? Oh I saw at Bulletproofing the cost can be 6.5K - 13K for Level 2 - Level 3.
How much did it run you, for everything, I am glad you were happy with this upgrade. I have a 2005 Excursion 6.0, a Texas SUV, the only upgrades I did was, EGR Cooler, oil cooler, blue spring, Amsoil bypass oil filter, coolant bypass filter, serviced the turbo and just last week had to install a new Ford FICUM. I just love my 6.0. Off cause had to change the batteries and alternator once since 2010. This is the last vehicle I will own.
Exultant Vid on full 6.0 fix. Only problem is that the more people wake up to the 6.0 reliability their price goes up. A full fix like this has put the value way up for your King Ranch. I had my 2003 6.0 fully BPD parts fixed years ago and I have had zero problems with towing my 16,000 Lbs 5th wheel for over 60,000 miles since the fix. My rig is at 180,000 miles. My next insurance for the 6.0 will be a Certec Liquid Moly oil treatment for the pistons, cam, rockers and crank surfaces. I went with a 4" turbo back straight pipe but installed the 50 series Flow Mater because on long trips it was too loud for conversations and peace of mind. I am an older fart though and if I was younger never would have heard much because of the AC/DC music full throttled. 7.3 Guys will still whine about it but that 6.0 is a much bigger beast and mods for it are staggering for huge power.
Great video. In general, sucks that the engine that rolled off the assembly line in that truck was a POS to begin with and we have to “bulletproof” it in order to make it into a long lasting, reliable engine. This is something that could’ve been prevented if thought out better

It'll lock your truck up for you and keep the engine running until it reaches a cold enough temprature to shut the engine off if you're on the run, otherwise good investment and hope you enjoy it very much.

Yes 110% straight pipe it turbo back. It will sound absolutely amazing you won’t regret it.
Colby Cowan lowers EGT’s too, not only does it sound great but it is beneficial for the engine 👌🏻
Yeah 4 inch turbo back 5inch has little performance over the 4 inch and 6.0s sound the best with 4inch

Doesnt need 53. Basically anything over 48 volts is useless. Love these 6.0s
Php ficm tune is better than increased voltages. I had a 58v now have a 48v with atlas 40. 58v is trash
I recommend grabbing an sct x4 and hitting up gear head for some custom tunes, trucks coming along nicely!
I second this. Have the exact set up on my 06. Have the unlimited tow, 8k tow and SRL +. Can’t go wrong with gear head.
I have a 4” turbo back exhaust on mine. Definitely should get on!
