Ahoy everyone!
My name is Nike and I have been living and sailing on my sailboat Karl since 2013. After a massive refit marathon, I finally cast off the lines and learnt to solo sail my 37-foot Reinke Super 10 that I called "Karl". I am publishing videos (at the moment every two weeks) about the ups and downs of living, repairing and sailing my boat.
Since January 2022, I have a new permanent crew member: my furry friend Boga. When I started out, I did not know much about boat repair or solo sailing. Since I am still out there, I hope that my story inspires others, to chase their dreams, even if they might think they are not cut out for it. There is always a way, so I'll see you out there!

I do not get tired .
Another good day!
Again, a genuine, real life, unpretentious revealing of life in a 'far away corner' of the globe...Beautiful scenes, most of the time all to short but ALWAYS interesting, I could have watched 5 minutes of your doggie helping you dig, love seeing his little head pop up in many scenes... Shout out to Paul...Thanks so much for sharing this 'lifestyle' that so few of us get to experience.
Very glad you enjoyed it and that you can see the beauty in taking it slow and getting to know a place and its people 🙏🏼 and yes, Boga is for sure the new star of the videos 🥰🐾
Wonerful episode. So great to see you and Paul interacting in the community with your local friends!
Very glad to hear u enjoyed the episode! It was a special time
Moving stairs = escalators.
So happy you have good company.
Ah thx!
or Rolling Stairs where Nike is from ....
Beautiful storytelling, Nike. I've been watching since the beginning, and your life has certainly taken some interesting and magical turns. Congratulations on so many years of following your bliss!
It sure has taken some turns and many changes and detours along the way. It’s been quite the adventure so far. Thanks for sticking around for such a long time!
To know where the food is coming from... priceless! Now I'm hungry lol
Right?
Very good Video 👍 👍
Thank you, Nike!
Thanks a lot again for taking us with you!
👍👍👍
You bet!
Great theme and connection with famous local gastronomes! Here in the Pacific NW of North America, mussels are the easily-harvested shellfish, clinging to the rocks. The shelling is left to the eater, and there's nothing better than a mix of steamed clams and mussels with white wine and garlic to dip your sourdough bread in.
Yes, very true! Thanks for clarifying that 👍 they are both delicious 🤤
As always great video Nike
Glad you liked it!
Loving this little section of your wonderful life, thank you.
It was very very precious down there and some of my fondest memories 😊 happy to hear that you enjoyed it
Thanks much for another great story !!
U are very welcome!
Thanks!
Thank you so much, Dave, this is very much appreciated 🙏🏼
Just awesome. Thank you
Great video...sometimes we forget how much work people put into their restaurant meals.
Rice, fry fish, boiled shell fish (clams). Company, stories, good simple food, sunsets.
As simple as that!
So glad the authorities were so friendly and cooperative! The clamming was interesting, compared to our clamming in the PNW - we have to wait for very low tide and dig with a shovel. Those are nice and small too! Happy New Year!
Lots of work but the food looks super delicious ❤
It sure was!!! But worth it!
Cockles, I’m guessing? Cockles in the sand, and mussels from the rocks, when I was a boy.
Ah yes, thx for clarifying that!
Great Story!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful scenery nice company and a dog that can't manage a gangplank. Cheers Nike and Paul and Boga, You've made me smile. In UK we call those shells Cockles, mussels are black and cling onto rocks.
Ah yes, thanks for clarifying that! In German, the main term mussels is for mussels and clams / cockels they just all have a different descriptive name added to them that differentiates them. 😂 good to know all the right words now 👍
😀👍👍👍❤ Happy Holidays. Looking forward to watching your 2024 videos! Following your channel from Seattle, WA. (Northwest USA)
See you in 2024, all the best for the new year!
EXCELENTE VIDEO CAPITANA !!!!!!!! UN GRAN SALUDO DESDE LATITUD 34 ARGENTINA !!!! BON APPETIT Y MUCHA CERVEZA FRIA !!!!!

It's such a wonder to see you hold those who are new to you in such a special place .
Be well .
Angus
You are looking great. Another good show, looking forward to next years episodes.
Thank you!
Thank you, Nike, for sharing that experience with us! In the United States we call the moving stairs, escalators. Happy New Year with love ❤
Ruddy 'Ell, just when we are about to get a taste/glimpse of this fabulous dish, we get hit with "Until Next Time". Sheeeeesh.
And don't worry about pulling out the princess card about being pushed along, it's well deserved. It did answer a question that popped up though.... Can she really walk on water?
😅 it’s one of those classic Nike fails that I did not film the ready product 🙈 it’s an editor’s nightmare and of corse a viewer’s too 😂 sorryyyyyyyy
Escalator, Paul was close.. Happy Holidays to you guys and gals.
He sure was 👍
Interesting, very interesting.
Hope you had a good Chrimbo with the family in DE. Best wishes for the new year.
Thank you! I was actually on Karl for Xmas…☺️ best wishes for 2024 for u as well!
Such a lovely video, Nike :-) Full of joy, laughter and precious memories ... something to tell your grandchildren about ... someday ... ;-)

😅 wouldn’t be the same without it!
Loving this episode in your life, Nike! Happy New Year wishes to you …. 🎉
Happy to hear that Roy, these are very fond memories. All the best for 2024 for you as well
I would like to try that rice. I am all about seafood!!!
You will have to go and give the “restaurante familiar” a visit then 😊
HA, #9 on the like button... Anyway. In French it is called "escalier roulant" - "rolling stairs". In English it is "escalator".
I love that picture of Paul at the end of that tiny little short 12 minute video... ;-)
Merry Xmas & Happy NY
Cheers,
a.
Ah thx for the info. So it’s the same in French as it is in German (same literal translation)
beautiful
Escalators.
Thx!
👏👏👏
Eh, did you already find out that it’s called an escalator 😂. What a fantastic live you’re living over there! But, where is Pauls dog? I missed him/her!
Ah, don’t you say, escalators it is??? 😋
Little Luca had passed away during the time I was in Germany and Paul was watching my boat. 😢 Boga and I were very sad that we could not say goodbye to him in person.
Thank you for the video. I'm correct that was in January 2023 according to the calendar in the office??
Yeah, that’s possible. I was there for a while but did not film all the time. That renewal of the permit could have been around that time.
Have you thought about heading back to the Caribbean areas again, or do you like the Pacific Ocean better?
Are you kidding ,,,you’re not going to tell us how the clam s tasted this video????
😂😂😂 it’s the best in El Salvador…how do you think they tasted???? 😋

Where is Paul's doggie?
Unfortunately, little Luca passed away during the time I was home in Germany and Paul watched my boat 😢. Paul made a video about it on his channel, a little tribute to Luca.
@@WhiteSpotPirates Oh God bless em both...they become a child to us. Tell Paul how sorry I am. I lost my Izzy Dog after 12 years.
Escalator 😂

escalators
Thx!
There was absolutely nothing wrong with your hair!
Hi Nike! Your happiness in experiencing the joys of simple living shines through. Can't wait to see how you like the seafood rice. I am concerned that you are getting baked in the tropical sun. Maybe sunscreen or an umbrella for shade?
Those were very happy moments for sure. I am glad ur enjoying the content.
Thanks for ur concern. I put on 50 sunscreen every day and maybe you saw that I was also wearing a shirt and a hat. Taking a sunbrella with me might not be so much my cup of tea ☺️ but I am usually trying to cover up and protect myself ☺️👍
Good to hear you are taking precautions to prevent sunburn. I have a friend whose family had a cottage on the Lake Michigan shoreline. As a kid he routinely got sunburn from spending so much time on the beach. The summer sun will cook you in 1/2 an hour. Now he has to be checked for skin cancer twice a year. The sun is fun but use that sunscreen, shirt and hat. Love your videos.@@WhiteSpotPirates
escalators are moving stairs
Escalator is the English word
Faule Treppe
😂👍
Put up a sail...m
You might not have noticed by now but I kinda like hanging out and getting to know places 😋
