- I often find old digital point and shoots, or digicams, when thrifting for camera gear. I didn't pay so much attention to them, but I recently became curious to try one out. It has been a very long time since I used one and it could be interesting to see how it is to shoot with one today. In this video I review the first of these cameras that I got, the Pentax Optio 60.

”…pictures might be too good” - that’s a quote from a true digicamer! 😉I like the rounded corners and blue mode dial of this Pentax.
Yeah that's true!😀 Now when I have used a few more digicams, I realized this Pentax is quite good, both the design and photos!
A few reasons why still relevant....1) ease of use. 2) inexpensive now 3) you can use them in places where you don't want to show your expensive iPhone or Galaxy 4) in the case of DSLRs, even old ones, nothing beats them for flexibility and control over imaging. Quality pictures aren't only about megapixels but how you manage the pics you take. A picture taken on an older DSLR could appear actually better if you know how to use it.
Many older pocket cams have greater capacity than the one you reviewed and are cheap on eBay. It's not a matter of relevance, it's a matter of preference.
Was very interessting. I like older Digicams. Have a tiny collection and use them most times for landscape photo walks and location exploring. If you play a little bit with the settings you maybe can get good results.
With greetings from lower Bavaria
Thanks! Now that I've used a few more Digicams I actually like the colors from this one!
Actually the photos were VERY GOOD !
Very fun! Thank you! I whished you showed more photos:(
Thanks! I will try to include more photos in my next digicam video!
When taken with the right light, older ones, say back to 2005 or so, can take quite good photos. 5mp on a 4x6 photo is plenty.
Definitely! Even older ones, like the 3mp Sony S70 have great quality.
@@mikaelrphoto bingo! And the menus don't require a 250 page manual. My Olympus newer model got stolen, I hated it and I was glad to see it go. It was the kind of thing that could only be created by programmers and not anyone who would actually use the camera. I went back to my 7mp Kodak.
Still rocking a q mx1 Digi,. Canon g1 and Even a evolt 510.olympus
which digi camera is better for backroom and liminal space photos?
Canon ixus 50 and 70 is epic for parties and more, can't get them photos on any phone flash
I just found the E60 (10.1 MP) version of this body. Why would I shoot with this camera? As a backup to my backup DSLR, I’d use this as a goof to send garbage pics to my friends. I like a challenge.
Once again, you appear to have shot impressive photos with this "antique" camera.
Thanks! It's always fun to try something new, or "old new" in this case!
the big problem of these digicams is the battery. if you cant find new ones they are really not practical.
That's true! Fortunately many of them use AA batteries, and I usually prefer to get those.
You usually can. It's no big deal whiner
Google search, Amazon etc. I've had no problems for old stuff like an EOS 20D, Rebel XT, Elph 430, Nikon D80, Kodak 753 etc. Kastar has a great selection of batteries and chargers.
