This is exactly the kind of review of this lens I was looking for - from filmmakers perspective and how to use it as such. Amazing, thank you! I`m buying it! 😀

So the GM primes have better background separation than the GM telephotos? Is this solely due to the lower f-stop? Is there anything else that makes the primes more cinematic? Thanks

THANK YOU for showing what a full body shot from the 50mm 1.2 would look like. I've contemplated getting that lens and was wondering what a full body shot would look like with it but everybody only shows portraits/half body.
Great review of the 135, awesome production quality. Subbing now so I can brag that I was one of the first subs before your channel pops off lol.

I wonder how this would compare to the 105 1.4...

I'll be curious myself. If I ever get my hands on that lens, I'll surely make a comparison.

Samyang af is one of the best lens I`ve seen with it being significantly cheaper and lighter with less vignetting and distortion than the GM, only having slower af times, so the GM is better for wild life and sports but for everything else I choose the Samyang (the only non GM lens in my bag)

I love Samyang lenses. I sold an 85 1.4 because of the slow and sloppy autofocus. Even at its faster aperture (f/1.8), I didn't notice much vignetting on the Sony. I haven't tested the Samyang, but I'd pick the GM anyway for the in-camera focus breathing compensation. For my workflow, that is more important than some vignetting.

@@seborfeothe samyang barely has any breathing. The sony lenses are notorious with lens breathing
