I use mainly an 85mm for portraits, but lately I'm shooting with my Sony 100-400mm. I know it sounds funny shooting at 400mm, but I got some of my favorite shots with that lens at max distance. I was able to bring big mountains so close because of the compression which made some really unique photos. Yes, it was hard to communicate with the model, but I explained to her what I needed before we start shooting and the photos came out absolutely stunning!
I've actually been thinking about shooting some portraits with a crazy zoom lens recently, sounds like you've gotten some amazing shots! Did you guys just yell out? I wonder if putting your phones on loud speaker would help haha I'll have to try it out
I have 85, 90, 100, 105, and 135mm lenses that I use for portraits. I usually use them on full-frame cameras for half-length, head & shoulder, and face shots. I use the 100mm f/2.8 as an expendable backup lens. The 90mm f/2 is an M-mount lens that I use on my Leica rangefinders. For weddings, I usually carry 85mm f/1.4 and 105mm f/2.8. The 105 is a macro lens that I use for tight face shots and ring close-ups. The 85 is my personal favorite half-length and head & shoulder portrait lens. The 135mm is an f/2 Zeiss lens that I use for low-light portraits.
I ran some tests last year as I was debating whether to get the Sigma 135 mm ART. The tests were for portraits only, half-length to head shot for beauty. I found that the 135 mm had too much compression in the close-up beauty head shots; the subjects jaw was exaggerated . I already have an 85 mm and a 100 mm. The 85 mm is the most flexible from beauty head shots to full body fashion, but I do think the 100 mm focal length is the most flattering for beauty head shots. Perhaps explains why historically the 105 mm was considered the classic portrait lens.
I’m an introverted photographer and love the space the 135mm gives me between my subject and I. I love being able to give people space and privacy so they can whisper sweet nothings in each other’s ear without me breathing on top of them. Helps me capture real emotion. Thanks for these comparison videos, they’re really good!
Yesss I agree! When taking portrait with models I feel like I don't need that distance since they are used to being in front of a camera most of the time, but for wedding couples who might be nervous the extra space definitely helps them feel more comfortable :)
Back in the day, 85mm was for general waist up portrait, 105mm was for male head shots, 120mm was for female head shots and 130-135mm was for baby shots. There seems to be a lot of guff about prime lenses of shorter focal length being “portrait” lenses because of the Bokeh but not really dealing with the various distortions that these lenses create. Some older photography books would help many today in gaining the knowledge to create stunning portraits other than portraits with bokeh.
I am just really interested in the difference of range from the subject from 85mm - 100mm - 135mm. This could be the deciding factor on which one to go with. They all look great but circumstances may force you into the 85mm or even possibly a 50mm. Sometimes you just don't have the space.
Thank you for the video Julia. I do use the 85 and 50 only. Like you said many times, it is nicer being in a conversation with the model and not being "miles" apart. Once again, thank you for your teaching.
Interesting comparison, for me was using an 85mm mostly and then got to try a 135mm f1.8 and wow! I prefer the results with the 135mm, the subject separation is a level up from the 85mm. But understand your point about shooting flowing movement, it's a tighter frame for sure.
Simple Crude formula = Focal length / aperture value of 45-50 to see Optimum level of subject separation Say for 85mm f1.8 85/1.8 = ~47 for similar level of feeling you can get 50mm f1.1 (50/1.1= 45) 65 or more score gives even better subject separation say Canon EF 135mm f2 135/2 = 67.5 for 200mm f2.8 200/2.8= 71 for 300mm f4 300/4 = 75 for Canon RF 800mm f11 800/11 = 72 Score above 110-120 can almost desolve background depending upon how far is the background from the subject I mean you cam see colours only for full body portraits 400mm f2.8 400/2.8= 142
as you correctly reported, 100 mm 2.8 STF has a T stop of 5.6, which means this lens is not really comparable to the others in question of depth of field. Not really a fan of STF and how it works, but other people love it.
I used to be an 85mm guy at one point......until I used the 135/1.8. The 135 is beyond marvelous ! It is a difficult FL to shoot with (the yelling distance part !), but the results are peerless.
I am owning all three lenses, and all are great. The 100mm GM *STF* is one of my favourite lenses in "bright light". The bokeh is out of this world and is sometimes rendering the background into something like a painting - absolutely gorgeous. It's also a great lense for taking pictures in sunny cities in Europe, e.g. Italy, Greece, and Croatia. It's not the first choice for available light, of course. The 135 GM is (too ;-) ) goddam sharp and features a blazingly fast autofocus. On the A7RiV you can convert it into a 200mm 1.8 (regarding transmission, not DOF) in APS-C mode keeping 26 megapixels of resolution, which is sooo cool. No need for a 70-200mm 2.8! The 85mm GM is great for indoor portraits. and still has a wonderful bokeh at 1.4. The AF is a bit slow and may not hit the target directly in low light. Unfortunately the 85mm GM. does not open fully when focussing. However I do not want to miss this lense, which was the first one that I bought, when entering the SONY FE universe.
hello Julia, The 100 does nothing for me, if I wanted f2.8 I could always stop down the 85 or 135 to f2.8, or use a 70/200 f2.8, I have always liked the 85 focal range because it gives you the perfect working distance unless you are in tight spaces, the 135 focal range makes it hard to communicate with the model because of the working distance, but I love the compression the lens gives, and in some shots the 135 can look amazing, when you get the right shot with the right background with the right lighting it has a fairy tail quality about it. but with any of these lenses, it has allot to do with who is using it, and there ability to take advantage of the lenses strong points. if you owned an 85 and 135, there would be a time and a place for both of them.
I have to agree, the 100mm focal length is really nice it’s kind of a sweet spot between these other 2 but if you’re not after quite so much reach. I do wish they just made it an f1.8 like the 135! And yeah I love that fairytale/magical look the 135 gives images 😍
Gosh, the quality of her videos!! So good. And that accent is cherry on top haha. Love it!! I have watched a few of the videos and I've learnt so much. Love and support from India, Cheers Julia!! ❤😊
I bought a 135mm during lockdown and all honestly I fell in love with it after my first portrait shoot. I wish I could show you :). I didn't mind the distance from the model as I was shooting in a quiet location. I also adapted to the focal length by shooting differently from my 85mm (location wise and mentality wise) as I believe both lens needs a different approach when shooting, and my mindset paid off. I just focused on the end result.
Yeah I agree that they both need a different mindset/approach while shooting! And the 135 is perfect for quiet locations where you have a lot of space, I’ll be getting one very soon, can’t wait to use it again!
I shoot pets (mainly dogs) just for fun ATM! I own the Sony 85 f1.8 and just aquired the 135 GM. When I'm lying on the floor indoors with the dog I tend to go 85mm or sometimes 55 Zeiss f1.8 but give us some space, and the 135 GM is fantastic in terms of subject separation and detail.
Dear Julia. I follow your great videos with a lot of joy and great interest! Of course, I also follow many other photographer videos here, but your films are the best! Your models are beautiful and you take gorgeous pictures of them. If you present and compare different lenses, I can get an accurate picture of which of the lenses is suitable for me. No other photographer shows the results as perfectly as you! Thank you very much for your great work. I hope that you will continue to make such incomparably good videos!
Love all your videos, they are soo informative and inspiring! I particularly really enjoyed a couples shoot video that you posted a couple of years ago, it was one of my favourites!! but i think it got taken off? would you mind putting that one back up? it was where you were in a field and did a lottt of prompts!! thank you once again for your time and efforts into these videos, truly inspiring!
I have all 3, well the sigma art version of the 85mm as it has far better reviews than the sony gm version, i love that lens without question, i bought it as an alternative to go with my 135gm which is my absolute favorite of all my lenses, and i have a lot, however i picked up the 100mm stf last week and I'm blown away by the results it gives when used the way it was designed for, (close up) the get that ultimate smooth background which while i love the ultimate 135gm it cant complete with the Boker of the 100mm stf.
I don't have an effervescent personality and like to be far away from my subject so they're not uncomfortable with a lens close to them. I was leaning to the 85mm but maybe 135mm would be a better option.
It almost looks like you can see more of the environment in the 135 compared to the 85 and at the same time, the 135 makes features of the background like the tree trunk look GIGANTIC! Magical photos!! How’s the lens flare on the 85?
Riiight I love how it does that!! Makes everything look like a fairytale haha. Like I said on Instagram I still haven't been able to create a crazy lens flare with the 85 - now that summer is coming in Australia though and the sun is a lot stronger it's going to be my main mission!
I loved the 100mm lens, it had the best look (the most flattering). Although being at a yelling distance during a shoot is impractical I have to admit.
My favourite portrait lens is 105/1.4. + it is needed to be added to the video, that 135/1.8 AF is far faster than 85/1.4 and 135 is also visibly sharper than 85/1.4. (I do not like busy bokeh of 100 - especially on the night shots + tree branches / grass close to the subject.)
@@juliatrotti It is longest f1.4 AF lens which is already good reason to own it for low light photography. And as a bonus I've got superb IQ and almost none CA. It has better working distance than 135 and only a bit worse bokeh.
hi Julia nice job you b been doing I spend over yesterday and today see you working with models taking Picture,So conclusive if you can afford only one Lens would you get the 85 mm 1.4 or something also?I have ONE of Them I bought year after I bought my 7r2 with 24mm1.4 GM...now I have one of the ones you working with see if you can guess what I have, Give you hint little noisy but I am more noisier then the lens LOL,,,love your teaching and I am just a curious not a Pro or even close,,just waisting money..Can you use your A7R2 if you steel have it with 1.4 lol I like to see..Thank you very much LEARNING .
Sold my 85mm GM and kept my 100mm STF GM. Sill debating on a 135 since I have the 100. I don't like the 100 for outside or uncontrolled light because you have to have sooooo much light to get good images. I prefer the 100 in the studio but I did do some nice action shots with the STF 100mm GM.
Maybe you could do a 135mm vs the 70-200. They’re definitely very different but they do give some very nice separation. It’d be interesting to see how different they look
Hi, would also love to know the set up used to shoot the video of you, especially what's used for your on-camera comments - very nice soft background and skin and colour rendering.
Oh my gosh I know right!!! 135 is not my first choice in focal lengths but this lens in particular made me fall a little more in love with it haha it’s so beautiful!
The reason why we have 135mm now is because in olden days, portraits are often shot using 135mm lens using Large Format Cameras. 135mm in Large Format has an equivalent field of view of a 45mm in full frame but has the depth compression of 135mm.
Hi Julia, Thanks very much for this video, it’s very helpfully. I have a question, I have the 135 and the 85, sometimes I have to shoot in lowlight indoor, the 85 better option than 135 but the 85 is so noisy in focus, the 135 is almost silent, do you have the same issue? Or only my lense
From my eyes, I see the difference in the final side-by-sides. Look how close together her eyes-nose-lips are with the 135mm (because of its compression) vs. the 85mm longer face. The 85mm is probably what she actually looks like in real life.
Please am a wedding photographer and I am having a hard time settling on a telephoto lens for my shooting needs between the 85mm and 100mm. Please I need your candid advice. I already own 35mm and 50mm all f1.4 lenses. PLEASE Should I choose Canon ef 100mm f/2.8 or Sigma 85mm 1.4 art len???
By the way Bokeh cannot be measured and there is no such thing as lack of bokeh. You might be referring to DOF (depth of field), which can be measured and is depending on the aperture, focal length, and distance to the focus point. DOF is measuring the depth of the area in focus and bokeh is describing how the out of focus areas are rendered. Therefore bokeh is a matter of taste. Usually very smooth and gradually transmitting into the out of focus areas are pleasing, but some people actually preferring harsh transmission and even cat eye bokeh balls. As pointed out it is depending on your taste. Due to the filter of the 100 STF (smooth transition focus) the bokeh is really smooth, although depth of field is rather high and objects in the background can be identified. However the background looks dreamy and depending on the composition a lot like a painting. Just my 2 cents.
Oh my…the pictures from the 85 really look good, but the 135 really looks so aesthetic to my eye…every image from it looks so …i dont know how to describe it, „ethereal“…“surreal“? It looks amazing…the 85 looks much more „grounded“ in (beautiful) reality… bur the 135 is so dreamy… really need to try this myself…
Always looking out for the next Julia video. Great substance as usual. I will have to stick with my Sony 85 1.8 with the A7iii; all influenced by you. Keep on with your gorgeous captures.
I love all three lenses. I have an 85mm and I’m researching between a 24-70 and a 70-100. Even with your comparisons, the 85mm always comes off more realistic. The 100mm looks like I would use for sports and the 135mm for more artistic fashion shoots. I think I just want them both with my 85mm 😂😂 Thanks for this video!
Can you do a video comparing the portraits with the Sony 135mm GM on a Sony A7iii VS the Canon 135mm f2.0 lens adapted on a Sony A7iii . I would love to see how the lens perform. 😊 Thank you
When shooting with the 85 mm you could've got a bit backwards and could've used the tree as a nice element in the frame ( the model and the left side and the arc of the tree on the right side of the frame in landscape orientation). Just saying
Yeah for sure, but since this is a comparison video between all the focal lengths each of the photos need to be the same to really see the differences :) I have lots of creative photoshoot behind the scenes on the 85mm focal length if you wanted to check those out instead!
Glad you liked it! I would say 35 + 85 is my favourite combination for a shoot as I get a wide variety of images. I use the 50 less than those 2, but I choose the 50 when I want a photoshoot to have that in between look of being able to see a bit more of your location but still have some beautiful soft bokeh!
Hi julia Plz tell me about top camera in the world for photography everyone say that mark iv 5d is best camera in the world plz tell me lens for mark iv for everywhere with top result...
Love your work especially with such videos comparing the portrait lenses. I use 85mm a lot after I moved from canon to Sony . However I still use my favorite portrait lens the Canon 135mm f2 lens adapting them on the Sony A7iii. I love the 135mm focal length though. 😊
I actually haven’t tried the Canon 135 adapted to Sony yet, so I’m definitely keen to try it out and see how it performs! Do you find the AF works well on it? Edit: Wait I just remembered I’ve used it adapted a couple of times during some wedding receptions but that was in pretty low light and the AF was okay. I feel like it would work much better during the day.
Julia Trotti Thanks for your reply. Yes I love to shoot portraits outdoor with the Canon 135mm f2.0 lens adapted on my Sony A7iii body . I’m saving money from upgrading it to the Sony 135 f1.8 GM lens as I’m happy with my Canon 135mm lens for the work I do . All my portraits have been shot outdoor in good daylight.
I love my 135GM, my 85GM not so much. The 85 is too slow, we need a Mk2 with the same dual motors as the 135 and 24. Haven't tried the 100SDF. The new Sigma 85 seems to beat the 85GM on pretty much everything in the reviews.
Hey Julia! Is that the Accsoon Cineye Wireless you have mounted at the bottom of your camera? And if so, exactly what mount are you using to attach it?
I wish you had included the sel90m28g as I find it more versatile with it's macro capability and IDK if any of those other lenses would give me something I haven't already got.
Not too keen on the 100 lens flare myself, Julia - you'd love the 55 Zeiss in that case! I own the 135 GM as well as the 55 and also 85 1.8. Prefer the bokeh on the 135. Nice content thanks.
Haha I love my lens flares! The 100 flare is quite defined, I liked it for these couple of shots I took, not sure if I would be a big fan of having them in there for the entire shoot though 😅
I'm currently not in a hurry to buy a telephoto prime lens because I recently got my hands on the Tamron 70-180, but it is a 2.8, which obviously means it can't blur out the background as well as those primes you were using. I love the look of the 135, but I don't know if I want to be constricted to such a tight look... Sometimes I'm asked to shoot (a wedding video prep) where a place is just cluttered with... Stuff... Do you think the 85 1.8 is the preferred lens to blow out everything else? Or the 135?
Ahh I love that Tamron 70-180 such a good lens!! Hmm the tricky thing with wedding prep is that you’re usually indoors so you never know if you’re going to have enough space to be able to move around especially on something like a 135, I usually only use the 135 for ceremonies and the reception! For me personally I would probably stick to an 85 specifically for prep to be on the safe side. I’ve definitely photographed some prep places that were absolutely tiny and had to be on a 35 + barely a 50 haha
@@juliatrotti I already have a Distagon T * FE 35mm F1.4 ZA lens for portrait. Do you think it would be worth it if I moved to FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM? If I see that all the lenses you have are single lenses, does the G master lens give sharper and more contrast? thanks
hi, The 100mm background coverage look like 50mm comparing the others, the subject size is maintained same to the frame in all three. Also 100mm bokeh lesser than 85mm in these samples. I would appreciate if anybody clarify me
Yes because (in my opinion) the 100mm stf wasn't designed for longer range portraiture, get up close and personal with it and it's an entire different beast.
Hi. Please give me an advice. Does it fit 135mm for weddings or is just for portraits, nature? With the budget for 135mm i could buy 35mm and 85mm f1.8. Greetings
I actually use my 135 mostly for weddings and not that often for portraits! I like giving my couples that distance away from the camera especially if they're nervous getting their photo taken. It's also super handy for ceremonies and speeches so you don't really have to get too much in the way to capture the moments. For my portrait photography I feel like the 135 is really nice but too dreamy for my taste/style of photos!
For portraits I usually switch between the 85 and 135 :) definitely find both can be flattering in different ways, especially once you start getting in closer on headshots, my new favourite though is the 85 1.2 DS! The Bokeh is really nice :)
Hi Julia! do you feel like it is still worth to pursue a photography career starting in 2020? Asking because although I am self-taught, I feel like there is way too much competition.
Absolutely! Everyone has their own style and what they can offer so I believe there is room for photographers to still start their own business. You also need to keep in mind to not see the photogs on Instagram/RUclips etc as your competition but take a look at who is in your local area or the location that you want to work in instead.
HI. I REALLY NEED TO ASK YOU AN IMPORTANT QUESTION. SHOULD I WAIT FOR SONY A 7IV OR GET A 7III. I AM A PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER. CURRENTLY A NIKON SHOOTER. IS A 7III STILL WORTH IT IN 2020?
Mirar por el visor a mi me permite estabilizar mejor la cámara y estar más involucrado en la escena. Además, ves mejor los detalles y el enfoque. 85mm💛

Thank you and ahh how exciting!! I hope you've been enjoying using it 😄
I bought a 135mm during lockdown and all honestly I fell in love with it after my first portrait shoot.
Can u exactly say what is the approximate distance between the subject and camera
Why doese the 100mm gets a T5.6 insteed of the 2.8? 🤔 I am confused?
Watch the video that Tony and Chelsea do on it, very interesting video that is.
I always love your lens comparison videos! Thanks for making them
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it!
Love that shutter sound.
The Sony 135 1.8 is an insane lens. Because the compression and the monster boken.
The 135mm looks the best but then the 85mm is the most versatile! Have to always remember where and what you're using the lens for!
The 135 GM is absolutely insane, I shot a beach volleyball tournament with it and the photo's were amazing.....
Omg I've heard so many good things about the 105 I neeeed to try it!
@@juliatrotti It is longest f1.4 AF lens which is already good reason to own it for low light photography. And as a bonus I've got superb IQ and almost none CA. It has better working distance than 135 and only a bit worse bokeh.
Love the look of the 135 GM... always have
Same 😍
hi Julia nice job you b been doing I spend over yesterday and today see you working with models taking Picture,So conclusive if you can afford only one Lens would you get the 85 mm 1.4 or something also?I have ONE of Them I bought year after I bought my 7r2 with 24mm1.4 GM...now I have one of the ones you working with see if you can guess what I have, Give you hint little noisy but I am more noisier then the lens LOL,,,love your teaching and I am just a curious not a Pro or even close,,just waisting money..Can you use your A7R2 if you steel have it with 1.4 lol I like to see..Thank you very much LEARNING .
The 100 would be so great in a studio! Maybe you could get the 135 if you feel like you want to venture out for more natural light photos :)
Maybe you could do a 135mm vs the 70-200. They’re definitely very different but they do give some very nice separation. It’d be interesting to see how different they look
Yess that would be really fun to do actually!
Good job, Julia, Many thanks
Julia how are you? how did you record the screen withouy Atomos Ninja V, whats the trick?
I am crazy to know how you do that! Thank you!!
Hi, would also love to know the set up used to shoot the video of you, especially what's used for your on-camera comments - very nice soft background and skin and colour rendering.
Bought the 135GM, THIS IS INSANE! Can't beat the autofocus too.
Oh my gosh I know right!!! 135 is not my first choice in focal lengths but this lens in particular made me fall a little more in love with it haha it’s so beautiful!
It’s my favorite overall lens in the line... love it!
💓💓💓 Amazing as always. Thanks Julia
Thank you! 😊
The reason why we have 135mm now is because in olden days, portraits are often shot using 135mm lens using Large Format Cameras. 135mm in Large Format has an equivalent field of view of a 45mm in full frame but has the depth compression of 135mm.
what are you using under the camera ? it's interesting in order to protect it and the lens..
have u try new sigma 85mm 1.4dg dn with 135mm gm.. i think new sigma is better compare to 85 old sigma or gm..
Hi Julia,
Thanks very much for this video, it’s very helpfully.
I have a question, I have the 135 and the 85, sometimes I have to shoot in lowlight indoor, the 85 better option than 135
but the 85 is so noisy in focus, the 135 is almost silent, do you have the same issue? Or only my lense
From my eyes, I see the difference in the final side-by-sides. Look how close together her eyes-nose-lips are with the 135mm (because of its compression) vs. the 85mm longer face. The 85mm is probably what she actually looks like in real life.
May i ask how do you screen record on the a7iii?
Please am a wedding photographer and I am having a hard time settling on a telephoto lens for my shooting needs between the 85mm and 100mm. Please I need your candid advice. I already own 35mm and 50mm all f1.4 lenses. PLEASE Should I choose Canon ef 100mm f/2.8 or Sigma 85mm 1.4 art len???
You might want a Canon 100mm f/2.0 but it is rare nowadays.
Would you buy both 85 and 135 if you had the budget?
Great work as always Julia 💯👏🏽
Thanks so much 😄
By the way Bokeh cannot be measured and there is no such thing as lack of bokeh.
Thanks for watching!
😊 Thank you
That’s such a good idea, thanks for the suggestion!
Julia Trotti You are welcome . I will wait for your video on this . 😊👍
Can you test out the 70-200 2.8 gm thanks, love your content :).
Yes I would love to!! And thank you 😊
When shooting with the 85 mm you could've got a bit backwards and could've used the tree as a nice element in the frame ( the model and the left side and the arc of the tree on the right side of the frame in landscape orientation). Just saying
Yeah for sure, but since this is a comparison video between all the focal lengths each of the photos need to be the same to really see the differences :) I have lots of creative photoshoot behind the scenes on the 85mm focal length if you wanted to check those out instead!
You have to try the 90mm G Macro 2.8. It's not very fast focusing but it's insanely sharp!
Ooh I would love to try it!
Hi Julia. Thank you for the video. How often do you use 50mm for portraits?
Glad you liked it! I would say 35 + 85 is my favourite combination for a shoot as I get a wide variety of images. I use the 50 less than those 2, but I choose the 50 when I want a photoshoot to have that in between look of being able to see a bit more of your location but still have some beautiful soft bokeh!
Hi julia
Plz tell me about top camera in the world for photography everyone say that mark iv 5d is best camera in the world plz tell me lens for mark iv for everywhere with top result...
I really love these lens: beautiful ones
Just got the Yongnuo 35mm 1.4 and I’m quite enjoying it so far. Can you do a review on that???
Ooh yes! I'll see if I can work something out :D
100mm has to be T5.6 in this test ?? I prefer F2 on 100mm
Hey Julia, I would say 85 all the way 🤩 & IAmanda is absolutely lovely ☺️ they are a perfect match 😁
I’m the same as you!! And yeah Amanda was wonderful to work with 😊
I love my 135GM, my 85GM not so much. The 85 is too slow, we need a Mk2 with the same dual motors as the 135 and 24. Haven't tried the 100SDF. The new Sigma 85 seems to beat the 85GM on pretty much everything in the reviews.
Definitely if u like the 85mm focal length. Get the new sigma and sell ur GM
I’m trying to find somewhere to borrow that sigma 85 - it looks great! It would be fun to make a comparison video between the 2 😄
Can i ask? 🤗 do you use flat picture profile for RAW or just standard? Thank you so much. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I always shoot in RAW and standard PP :)
I would love to try that lens, I'll make a video when I do :)
I've never tried G Master! Looks amazing, great work!
Thank you! If you ever have the chance I would highly recommend the 135 to try first, it’s seriously beautiful!
@@juliatrotti 24mm gm vs 36mm gm?
The Sigma 105 1.4 Art is a beast 🔥💪
What is that device under camera body? For screen recording? Can anyone name it?
135 1.8 or 70-200 on 200 f2.8?
Yes, I also love the 85mm F1. 4
recently got the 135 and it's unreal. replaced the 70-200 slot for me and no regrets.
Ooh I'd be really interested in comparing those 2 lenses actually!
That 135mm looks so good!
why don't you do a Nikon review?
I would love to soon! I just haven't had the opportunity yet :)
Julia Trotti I will wait
Not too keen on the 100 lens flare myself, Julia - you'd love the 55 Zeiss in that case!
I own the 135 GM as well as the 55 and also 85 1.8. Prefer the bokeh on the 135. Nice content thanks.
Haha I love my lens flares! The 100 flare is quite defined, I liked it for these couple of shots I took, not sure if I would be a big fan of having them in there for the entire shoot though 😅
Nice comparison. Btw how you record visual from your a7iii screen?
Julia Trotti makes sense... I think I'll be adding the 85 on my wish list; thanks for your input!
On the 100....wide open....the bokeh renders 2.8 but the tstop is 5.6.
Congrats!! Excelent videos.
What is fe 24-70mm f2.8 GM recommendation for portrait? Great video 👏🏻
I have a video using the Sony 24-70 on my channel it’s titled “10 minute portrait photoshoot” if you wanted to see some photo examples! And thank you
@@juliatrotti I already have a Distagon T * FE 35mm F1.4 ZA lens for portrait.
@@juliatrotti i just bought 135 from sigma and i m in love 😄
I use the 135mm for full body shots. Great lens
I think u said the 100 mm has f2.8 🤔at 1:22
Yes it's confusing but it renders bokeh at f2.8 but has a t-stop of 5.6 :)
For portraits I usually switch between the 85 and 135 :) definitely find both can be flattering in different ways, especially once you start getting in closer on headshots, my new favourite though is the 85 1.2 DS! The Bokeh is really nice :)
which do you prefer for headshots?
Her voice tho...soo soothing...great comparison
gosh i want both, the 85 mm and 135mm :( you might consider a pro con viedeo about prime lenses and zoom lenses for GM ?=)
An F2.8 portrait lens is so weird...
What does it have, that makes up for being so dark?
It has an apodization filter to give it that ultimate Boker which no other lens will give you as the stf lenses give you.
Awesome video thanks for the info
Hi Julia!
do you feel like it is still worth to pursue a photography career starting in 2020?
The A7iii is still a great camera, it’s my current setup for all my photography work 😊
@@juliatrotti Thank you so much.
85 Works for sure! Great video love.
Thank you!
Mirar por el visor a mi me permite estabilizar mejor la cámara y estar más involucrado en la escena. Además, ves mejor los detalles y el enfoque.
85mm💛
I think it's important to shoot in any way that makes you feel more comfortable :)
I love your videos!!
Thank you! :D
Beautiful photo
