    This 135mm f1.8GM and the 24mm f1.4 GM are my two favorite Sony lenses in my kit of thirteen lenses for my A7RIV and A9. Both just stunning lenses. Cheers

      Same. Got them both about 3 months after they were released and I was able to track them down. They both hardly ever leave my camera. That 24mm is a workhorse of a lens!

      help, in my lens when I turn it up and down it feels like something inside is loose, is that normal?

      @@no-ji5693 if you lens has the linear focus motors, that is just them moving freely when they aren't operating. That is normal and nothing to worry about.

    Yeah the Sony 135mm is probably the best lens, but I couldn’t afford it, so I’m using the Samyang 135mm 1.8 at more than half the price of $800. The Sony here in the USA sells for $1800 dollars and sometimes more. I’m very satisfied with the quality of the Samyang, it’s pretty amazing.

      I'm currently looking at a used SONY ZEISS Sonnar T* 135mm F/1.8 ZA SAL. I already have the Sony LA-EA5 adapter for my A7RIV. The images on Flickr look pretty amazing to my eyes.

    I have the 24mm G Master and people have noticed the difference. They thought I bought a new camera! *I use the Sony A7Siii). In two weeks I will buy either the 50mm 1.2, or the 135. It's a tough choice. Eventually I will get both as well as the 85mm.

      @@PavSZ Some reviewers say that the 1.4 is sharper, but I drool when I see some of the ultra shallow focus.

      @@PavSZ I like the way that you review lenses, so I will trust your judgment and purchase the 1.2 within three weeks. I use lenses for movies, so the reviews about photography sensibilities don't mean much to me. Ans until I get the new Sony camera with the global shutter, I am not interested in motion and in autofocus because I favor static shots, or slow pans. That future global shutter is going to make me practice new techniques, and I can't wait. But thank you for making reviews that are more helpful to the way that I work.

    I have the 135 gm, the 90mm G, and the sigma 105 f1.4 art and the 135 GM is my go to for portraits and that kaaareamy bokeh. I prefer it over the sigma 105 mm F1.4 in Bokeh. The 90mm g is a superb lens crazy sharp, but so is the 135 GM and it has me addicted to it.

    I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM, maybe the best ever made 135mm of all time ! Update of the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM in 2023, September, the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM is big and heavy, I rarely use autofocus and I rarely use larger aperture than 2.8, so now when I also have the excellent Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5 which is smaller and lighter, built like a tank and have outstanding optical image quality, then I rarely use the Sony !

    The Sony 135gm was the first Lens I bought and felt that there is no camera body that is good enough for it, and it will now be in a glass box with a spinning lazy Susan donated to a museum to be displayed in front of the Mona Lisa.

    Everyone has to agree to disagree I guess. I have used the 135mm numerous times and was going to buy, but then I saw a batis 135mm for a unreal price refurbished with warranty so I took the plunge. It arrived yesterday and I used it on a shoot and I was blown away with the sharpness and painterly bokeh. The gm lens is amazing but clinical in its rendering to my eye. Af is spot on colors pop check it out. I used the gm lens during this years Oscars and it was just okay. Several fashion shows award shows and portraits but I'm excited about the batis.

      You are absolutely right but those two lenses are just two opposites and just couldn't be compared side by side.
      Both great in their own right but just like everything else in life ... you can always find something better and sometimes you just make the best out of what you got.
      Sony 135mm f1.8 GM is a very expensive purchase and as they say, you get what you pay for. In comparison to 98% of all other lenses, it's superior but then, there is the other 2% that just feel and perform better bit don't forget that it is all subjective - it will be different for everyone.

      @@PavSZ you are right and I am agree with you. But sometimes the Otus lenses are forgotten when it comes to best IQ lenses, I guess cause they are MF, and their IQ it is something that you notice right away when you usually work with them. :)

    The 90mm Macro is still MUCH sharper, has less aberrations AND has that ''3D pop'' or whatever you want to call it, that you typically get only with Voigtlander, Zeiss, Hasselblad and Leica lenses - whereas the 135mm GM does not have that ''3D pop'' effect, it has some minor aberration issues and is not nearly as sharp as the 90mm Macro.

      Sorry. Are you watching on the TV? there is too much detail in them and double field display of TV screens makes that happen.

    This is NOT the king of primes, that is an absurd title to give. We all have different needs and preferences. This is the sharpest prime for Sony but there are many sharp primes and some with nicer bokeh as well like the Sigma 135mm Art and the even smoother 105mm. So to claim X or Y lens is the King of primes is just silly.
