This week we squashed a bunch of bugs (thank you Fix it Friday) and are launching our Back to School '23 challenge where students will have a chance to earn equity in The Browser Company by referring their friends to Arc.

📌🆕Full list of fixes and improvements in today's release 1.7.0 below.
- Check out our quick guide to Arc! Hit CMD T and type "Getting Started".
- We've changed the look and feel of our Account Creation and Sign In Flow.
- We've made early fixes to issues getting out of Full Screen. Thanks to all who've reported!
- Hitting ESC will now close the "Translate" popup in the sidebar.
- We've fixed an issue that causes Extensions to unpin.
- We've fixed a bug that caused occasional freezing when changing a Space Icon.
- Closing a previewed item in Archive with CMD+W now works correctly.
- Exporting Easels in Dark Mode is now dark mode aware.
- The "What's New" banner now includes an indication for videos!
- We now select the first item in the list when you start typing in the Folder Preview.
- We have our own styled verification emails when resetting your Arc email.

It would be fantastic if you integrated with the Mac Pro's touch bar so that the browser tabs appear just like Safari, then ARC would be the perfect browser!

Yeah, for students with programming/engineering major Linux and Windows versions are a must have (I personally drive all 3 systems daily, but can use arch only on a MacBook)
I've never seen a company ship so many things as often as Arc does + keep up with bugs and fixes. The passion is overflowing and all of your users see it! I typically stop using new applications by the second or third time but ive been using arc for like 3 months? Probably more. It's a part of my everyday workflow now - especially since you fixed the Google meets bugs!! Keep killing it Arc team.

After doing a little introspection, this video just now reminded me of a film criticism of the Star Wars prequels vs. the original trilogy. Red Letter Media (I believe) once asked people to describe characters in the original trilogy. Every person immediately had an answer for Han Solo ("a scoundrel!", "a rebel", etc.). The same was true for most other characters of the original trilogy. They then asked people to describe characters in the prequels. And no one could come up with anything... just cricket noises.
I just realized that Arc is the first browser that makes you FEEL a certain way. You feel like you're part of a community. You can tell that the team is working hard each week to deliver a better product. The whole thing has a character unlike, I'm sorry to say... pretty much every other browser out there on the market.
I believe you're really on to something, please keep up the great work!

I was an Opera user throughout my studentship, and have been a Firefox user up until Arc. I wouldn't return to neither just because they "Arc-ify" themselves, because Arc has the advantage of iterating fast and being more experimental/exploratory. Plus, it's a great journey to ride along with you! I'm sure you will continue rolling out revolutionary features and they will sweat trying to catch up with you 😰
Also, I know most of us use CMD+L to open the URL menu, but it is often broken when you try to open it from the top of window. It works 1 times out of 5. Figured you might want to include it in one of your FiFs ;)
I'm having a blast with Arc! I've been referring it to everyone I know and they are loving it too! I've been trying various browsers since the days of the dial-up internet since I was a kid but nothing has come close to how much I love Arc! Everyone at work are like "Whoa! What's this cool browser you are using" whenever I do a screenshare or walk over by my desk 😄You guys are doing an amazing job and I love being part of the Arc community! Looking forward to the things you guys are going to push in the future! 🥳
Keep it up fam. Of the many things you do right, two of the things that really set you apart for me are the incredible user experience coupled with a human touch (like these videos and the way your tech support responds) that I haven't seen in any of the bigger browsers offer. Can't stop raving about you guys, keep making history 🙌

I've never switched to a browser and STAYED with a browser for as long as I have before Arc came along. I was on Firefox for the longest time. Then I tried Orion (which is an amazing project worth supporting). And I've, of course, mained Chrome for years like most people. But nothing just *made sense* from day 1 like Arc. Ya'll have one of the best design teams in this industry and as long as the Arc train keeps going like this, I'll be along for the ride 💪
Agreed. I remember using Safari betas back in the Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar days and what a large breathe of fresh air the simple UI was over Internet Explorer for mac, and then how revolutionary tabbed browsing was. I've experimented with other browsers through the years, but always gravitated back to Safari for UI reasons, and then for energy/memory optimisation reasons. Arc changed that.
I tried out Arc, and the UI flow worked so well, me and my 12-inch MacBook persevered with Chromium's optimisation issues until the Browser Company knuckled down on performance, now that Arc's performance on older hardware is fixed, we're not looking anywhere else.
Love the honesty and "peak behind the curtain" of these videos.
Would love for there to be a 101 video or something of the sort that I could share with friends without them having to download the browser, getting them to the point of onboarding is the hardest part!

Loved your honesty, but mostly the passion and dedication that you're all continuously putting into making Arc a perfect browser. The thing that's kept me with Arc over the "copy-cats" if you will, are how much you care about the community. You listen to feedback, are quick to fix issues, and seem to genuinely care about how your community use your browser. I've tried some of the other browsers that do similar things, but none has been as welcoming and receptive to feedback as you are. Keep up the great work!

I never said I enjoy product updates on any other product but I enjoy this videos so much! I also read every new changelog and have to say that the way you guys build in public and share with us is so inspiring that Im pushing my team's product updates to come close to what you guys are doing. I just tried the "getting started" and just how amazing it is to never pause the video and just use the CMD+T as a tool bar is amazing.
Arc browser has honestly been my favorite browser that I've used! It sucks that competitors are starting to copy your designs, but since y'all were the first ones to come out with certain features you've had more time to perfect them and then move on to new fun features! Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Awesome work. You're right, you guys have changed the way I use my browser in a very very good way. The fact that other companies are copying you, doesn't mean they are stealing what makes you different. It's your intentionality to think about creative but productive ways to use the internet that has me already loyal to Arc after 10+ years of arguing that Chrome is better than the rest. Honestly, I find that when I go to my Android phone or my WIndows PC, I feel like I'm missing something because I don't have Arc. Keep up the great work! (And hopefully get me arc on Android and Windows soon?)

Thanks for the updates :) Some might only be in for the "borders" and other UI gimmicks, but I'm here for the culture + team behind the product, and frankly because Arc is so different from other browsers. It has changed my mental model about how to use a web browser, and turned up the speed massively for my browsing experience with keyboard commands galore.
Arc is the product of the year and hope will be for years after!
seriously this browser is the most exciting thing on the internet for me right now. keep up the amazing work and I absolutely love the transparency and obvious value of community the company has. cannot say the same for other browser companies. even if they end up copying some of the design elements, they can't copy the kind of ethos you have.

Love Arc!!! Like how! My workflow had been entirely rebuilt around Spaces and Profiles. Also... damnit... you have no idea of I need to consciously think when I have to sit down temporarily on someone else's computer to do something and I feel crippled!
