This is not the end of our Windows journey - it's just Day 1. Now the real work begins. Expect performance improvements, new features, support for Windows 10, and more to be dropping in the coming weeks and months.
Thank you for all your patience, support, beta testing, and bug reporting!

No Microsoft edge has been harmed in this video
Yeah.. they didn't empty the recycling bin yet.
microsoft has been edged in this video
No, Microsoft edge has been harmed in this video!
You forgot the comma after No
Don't worry, I think in the next update it will show up again
That last bin drop was so satisfying
Too bad Microsoft is so petty, that they're willing to undelete the shortcut.
Doing that doesn't remove Edge anyway. It's not like on a Mac where dragging an app icon from the Applications folder into the trash actually does remove it. On Windows, only the shortcut (alias) goes, not the app

Finally! Now waiting for the Android version
It's already announced

@thedodobear android is the most popular os. It's about 3B android devices
@@Pro_Photo there is 3B users but ARC is target to towards the productivity user or people who stays on on browser for 5-8hrs for work. They are working towards that way, beacuse they are actual users.
Linux too
I dunno if Arc Windows is ready honestly. There's a lot of unpolished parts to it and it doesn't even have much of the features that the Mac version has. I'm happy that everyone has access now but I worry slightly that there might be some disappointment to some people 😅
I hope that at least now it'll catch up with the Mac features because that is the main reason I was excited for Arc.
I agree, it feels not ready. But I personally barely need anything.
- I can't drag the window in region to the left of extension icons for no reason.
- No space icons.
- It refuses to remember I'm on my work "space" when I reopen Arc.
I get that software is hard, but these totally feel like a set of issues/bugs someone could fix in a day. I've been splitting my time 50/50 with Firefox (using a sidebar extension Sidebery and a css setting hack to hide the tabs at the top). Firefox feels snappier, but happy to try a switch to Arc 100% if they fix those things.
have to agree. been using arc on windows and mac for a while now and the windows ver still has a lot missing and I encounter bugs now and than. it's nowhere near the Mac version yet.
think it should be marketed as an open beta or a prerelease. just something that shows its not the finished thing yet.
though even if it doesn't feel finished yet I like using it more than other browsers. have it as my standard since beta.
yeah. there were some improvements since first beta release. needs much more refinements but here we are!
Yeah I’ve been rocking the beta and it just feels slightly sluggish, like switching between tabs and stuff feels slow compared to other browsers. Hope they fix this.
The Verge article says the aim is to add in the missing features from Mac bit by bit fairly rapidly. Though I don’t know what that means, Every 6 weeks? Every 2 weeks?

@@BloomDevelop oh thanks for sayin that. my laptop unsupports win 11 but i want to try arc :((
same 😭
I tried Arc on Windows 11.
My first impression is that the url bar is too small, so you cannot see if the webpage you're in is a virus.
I'm not used to the fact the bookmarks/new tab bar is on the side instead of the top.
Overall I prefer Firefox.
Coming from Firefox, this is true. For me, Arc keeps crashing before it even opens. Takes about 15 to 30 attempts before it runs normally and still feels sluggish at times. I agree with the URL bar and I would like to add that making the search bar closer to something of the sort of the PowerToys Run bar would suit it better.
@@OrbitronHD I dont even use Firefox but I still prefer Firefox over Arc
Can I just say, the media team behind Arc is just phenomenal. Great job 👍
Patiently awaiting Win 10 version. Maybe Arc for Linux too if Microsoft keep up the transformation into a data harvesting tool with a side of operating system :)
is this release still not for windows 10 😒
You can override it, search arc for windows 10
@@lens3641 Yeah it's still win 11 only
@@lens3641 Unfortunately, however during testing a few months ago I found out there is a way to use it on 10. iirc you have to extract the installer, there's a config file you have to change, then just install an icon pack and it's good to go. Will check how I did it though and make a comment
I've sent a feature request and they respond that they're not working for Linux support rn...
Congratulations! Now I would love to see an Android and Linux version 👀
I second the motion to have a linux version!!! Or at least give us the exe so we can run it through wine!!
@@mious- Running a browser through wine is nuts tho
@@theskyblockman interesting, i didn't know that
@@theskyblockmannot really nuts
wine is not an emulator, it is a compatibility layer for graphic APIs (and the windows sys calls)
If you can play games using wine, why can't you do the less intensive task of running a browser?
@@arjix8738 First, running a browser can be quite intensive (opening 100+ tabs is quite intensive first for the RAM but for the CPU too, also it relies a lot more on native APIs and accelerators than games) and browsers are also now kind of a translation layer themselves or at least an interpreter. WASM and WebGPU are the latest and biggest examples of that, but even HTML is treated as a way to lay down DOM elements which in itself means that browsers are interpreters. So running an interpreter within an interpreter is nuts.
I feel like it's not ready. sure i'm happy that people who weren't able to get off the waitlist can try arc for themselves, but we don't even have site search yet, which i recently found out is a BASIC CHROMIUM FEATURE. not to mention boosts, space icons, easels, bug fixes, and the list goes on. I love Arc, but releasing it to everyone with no change but a version number is kinda lame imo.
ctrl + F
@@aleviz that's not what i mean, i mean search sites directly from the search bar like search for yt videos before getting on the website. but like I love Arc and I said there are a bunch of other features missing and bugs unfixed, to the point where this shouldn't be considered a 1.0 release
Now I can wait even more for linux version
I would love to finally move in... but Arc wont give me the option to import from Firefox. Ive sent in many bug reports and stuff like that, and it still isn't fixed ): I guess I will just have to stick with Firefox...
I love that you included beta versions of windows like Chicago and Longhorn in the montage section! Neat attention to detail and makes me think there were real enthusiasts who put a lot of care and passion into this project
So glad I got to participate in the testing stage!
Meanwhile we are still out here guessing which of the pinned and favourite tabs are loaded. Not to mention all the additional clicks needed to do simple tasks like closing a pinned tab and favourite tab.
I dont get what you are so confused about, pinned tabs and favourites are literally there for you to keep, its harder so you dont close them accidentally and there is a line separating them from the normal browsing tabs.
And what is the purpouse of knowing which tab is sleeping, its gonna wake up anyway when you click it, or go to sleep when you havent used it.
Maybe its just a me problem but i find your complaining pretty useless.
@@mausf Only you are confused. Currently to close a pinned tab you need to click into the tab, navigating away from your current tab to click the minus(-) to close/unload the pinned tab, without the tab disappearing. If you don't click into the pinned tab you only get a X which deletes the pinned tab. As for favourite tabs they are just not user friendly. If I have 12 favourited tabs why should I need to click through them to see which tab is loaded when I want to close tabs I don't need active? No one wants or needs active tabs wasting resources when they are not needed. Just look at how resource hungry Arc is on Mac with all it's features and Arc on windows is only a shell of what Arc on Mac is currently.
These tabs are like bookmarks, if you haven’t opened them recently they are not loaded and not eating resources, and like all chromium browsers once it passed some time after using it, the tabs will become inactive if u - them and the content disappears but the tab is still there it means it just remains a bookmark, if the concept is hard to grasp, use chrome or edge
That's great!
Now we are waiting for the Linux and Android versions
And we're waiting for the ability to move the tabbed sidebar up and to the right.
Yooo guys...congrats!!! Glad to have been part of it as a BETA tester :))
why i am ecountering the below issue while installing arc...?
Error encountered during install
To install this application you need either a Windows
developer license or a sideloading -enabled system
I've utilized the browser during the beta testing phase. However, I believe it's premature to conclude the beta stage as there are still considerable bugs and a plethora of unavailable features present(compare to Arc on macOS).
Can you please fix the window when it's full size on Windows, the corner are bugging out: I.e. I can't close the app by just putting my mouse to extreme top right hand side corner of the display, I have to aim, very annoying
And also, even as a beta tester I had no way to give feedback, what's the point
I've loved the beta since I got access and now it's out for everyone. Great work!
The deleted shortcut browser in the end should be Chrome, since it has the most amount of users. Just saying.
I think it's because Edge became the ARC on Windows until it arrived :)
The Arc team don't realise that on Windows, dragging a shortcut into the Recycle Bin doesn't actually remove an app, unlike dragging from your Applications folder to the trash on Mac
Edge is still there after, in the background 😂
@@dftfire You are right! And, since Arc is (mostly) for techies, they should have paid attention to it!

I really wish the side bar took inspiration from edge and didn't fully close, but showed the Icons of tabs.
I dislike pulling tabs to another monitor and it being a bit clunky.
The option to hide / show favorites on the side menu?
easels, webpage customization aren't available yet
Very raw. There are a lot of bugs in it. And this is not the original browser. After installation, Arc took the settings from Edge and some extensions that were in Edge (even took the settings of these extensions). But Arc did not take all the extensions, but about half. And this is also a bug. That is, Arc is just an add-on to Edge. In general, it does not arouse any interest.
Linux when? hoping it will be optimized for both Gnome and KDE Styles
Hey, is there a vague plan of when we will get features like Arc Boost and Max? Really appreciating the work you're doing but I think that some of the features that make Arc on Mac so special are stilling missing from the Windows version.
I love Arc on Windows and watching the staff videos. I love that the BCNY staff keeps users in the loop. I am patiently waiting for more updates, which I am sure will come. Congrats BCNY!
I am a beta tester and I can say that the windows version is so cool (not as much as the MacOs’), some features are still missing such as the AI or the search bar in the left menu but the whole is very good and rather stable

Wow, waiting for the android and Linux version. Thanks The Browser Company
Android should be next priority as Linux have much smaller userbase for ordinary users (it big on servers, but safer not to run a browser on servers!)
For android they'd have to make an entirely different app.
No code would be re-used.
Porting to Linux would be literally a thousand times easier.
Unless you want a browser that has nothing to do with Arc other than the branding.
@@arjix8738 It may be easier, but Android _clearly_ has a much-larger userbase. And it's been in the news Arc are hiring Android developers now, so it's clearly a focus for them
@@arjix8738 why? they could re-use things from the ios version
I might be wrong but I think the average Linux users wouldn't touch this browser unless it adds hardend Firefox-level privacy and security features.
Congrats The Browser Company!
The funniest thing, that while I was waiting for Arc, I was customizing my Firefox setup to replicate Arc stuff I liked. And at this point, even though I can freely use it now, I don't feel I need it anymore. Plus, who knows how many years would we have to wait for it to be released for Linux? I'll probably give it a shot this weekend but chances are, I'll just stick to FF.
I have windows 11. When the download finishes, the program simply does not open. It doesn't even appear in the task manager. It's been 2 days and it still won't open, I've tried repairing the application, restoring it, uninstalling it and reinstalling it and nothing works. I hope you can solve the bug. I really would like to try the browser.

For Steam, 54% on Win10, 42% on Win11
Maybe your data old or for corporate PCs?
@@dftfire Could be old! Windows 10 is still higher and if the goal is to get more people using Arc Browser, than I think it makes sense to release it on the platform with more users :)
@@JasonGillard Well, if they want a platform with more users, Android would make more sense over Windows 10
win 10 is dog shit now
I think they really focus on good design, which is not possible with windows 10 (outdated, edgy ui)
0:29 You show a bug in the video. There is no color wheel. It's invisible.
there is never been a color wheel in arc, even on macOS.
The question is why when I download a pdf, it appears in the downloads, I click open pdf and it’s not the pdf that opens for me, but just the explorer, not even the download location. In other browsers, the file opens immediately, but here I have to click again to find the file, although it could be launched immediately when I click on it.
And the second point, when scrolling there are jerks. Make the smooth scrolling function like that implemented in Firefox.
is the note function launched in Win11?
Nice! Love the Edge bin drop :)
