Thanks everyone for the comments! The growth on my channel has been astonishing and more than I could have hoped for. I look forward to sharing more interesting videos this year.
I loved the 2 part series, I subscribed and hopefully, we get to see more design documentaries like these ones
I NEED MOAR VIDEOS
I'm surprised you only have 1k subs based on the quality of your videos, I thought you must have been around for a while.
You don't create videos anymore?
So that was a lie
''Unlike on your phone screen, reality is where you expect objects to cast shadows or to reflect and receive light.''
You guessed the Apple Vision Pro design correct. Nice catch
I have been blessed by the algorithm. Apple Design Part 1&2 must be the most beautiful and well made videos I have seen this month. Creators like yourself are the ones who make this platform worth visiting.
I hardly new any of this and they say everyday you learn a new thing!!
I was also blessed by the gods of the RUclips recommended.
Well the algorithm has killed his channel
And this comment is one of the most truthful comments I've seen this month
It’s a good essay-though he cites his primary sources badly; half of the sources cited are Wikipedia articles-and the video production is tasteful, but I’m concerned with how poor attribution of other people’s work and footage is. None of the B-roll appears to be his, none of photographs used for illustration, extraneous footage, et cetera, and while it does seem to be fair-use more often than not (I don’t think all of it is), it seems disrespectful to the original artists to not credit them anywhere.
The photographs of Vitsoe’s headquarters are beautiful. I don’t think he took them; which is okay, they were fairly used. But I’ll have to reverse image search screenshots of them to find the originals and their artist now, when Hu could’ve done better, respected a fellow artist, and included an attribution under those frames. If he did take them, say “self-work”.
I don’t mind one book about Jony Ive and a few Wikipedia articles regurgitated back to me in a pretty video, but I especially take issue with the lack of attribution to other people’s work. Doesn’t set good precedent coming from another creator.
Keep going, people are gonna stumble on your videos and stay because of the amazing work you put into them. Sending love and strength!
i’m staying! great job with the videos (๑•́‧̫•̀๑)b
I just stumbled upon it. About to watch, hope it goes well!
i just discovered this too. it was really insightful
well, this comment aged well
Just stumbled upon this. Woahhh.
Damn, dude, you predicted the visionPro AR interface design.
this is what i said too
Apple Vision Pro!!!
Everything is perfect, the writing, the edit, the music, your speech delivery. 10/10.
The sequel we were all waiting for
This was so well made! I can see the work put in this video. This literally deserves more views
Loved the two parts. Found Part 1 on Reddit a week ago, and have been impatiently waiting daily for the upload of part two.
A suggestion - Add Part 2 as a thumbnail at the end of Part 1 video. People will find it easier to discover this video.
I think it is the first time I got emotional chills over a RUclips video. This deserves much more praise. Extremely well made.
I am surprised to see how little views thought should be at least few hundred thousand. still 34k wtf
@@JimSendre oh Geeze. It’s a video of a guy talking about apple with music in the background and some slides. There are 1000000 videos like it.
@@codycast not really this guy is like top one percent of apple videos. majority is just drivel. the fact that you can't differentiate between the two shows why the views are so low.
@@JimSendre yup. It’s everyone else that’s wrong.
at ur big age?? how do u get emotional over a video about apps ICONS😭
Apple Vision Pro having come out… it’s so interesting watching this now and your analysis on apple’s future
Great job man - loved the series. Really well researched and articulated. Wishing you all the best for the future!
I’ve always missed skeuomorphic icons and design because I only got the chances to see it when I was younger. Seeing Mac OS Big Sur change the mac icons again gave me a sense of nostalgia with the little shade and the little details on a small icon that were like on previous version of iOS and Mac OS X.
FUCK JONNY IVES 😒😡 I miss the skumorphism
I wish there was a theme back to go back and experience that nostalgia
I might be the only one but I actually loved iOS 7 so much. The previous iOS was great but was looking old for me and 7 just felt light and snappy. Just remembering the day I updated still makes me jiggly with nostalgia
This was an informative two-parter. Now I actually understand what skeuomorphism, the “flat” look, and neumorphism are.
Personally I am a fan of interactive objects being at least somewhat 3D, as it kinda signals to the brain “hey, you can touch me” whereas if everything is flat the whole screen just runs together like a work by Picasso. However, I also agree that the smaller an object becomes and/or the greater number of objects are on screen, the less detailed they should be.
It’s like a rock band vs a classical orchestra. With fewer instruments, you allow and arguably even rely on each one to add a very unique set of sounds to the end music. However, in a full-on orchestra, you need less individual uniqueness so the whole comes together as a strong unified acoustic force.
I've stumbled randomly on your channel when this and the previous video appeared on my home feed. The quality they have is astonishing: the timing of the music is perfect and the way the script is written kept me interested until the end of the video. Keep up the good work and I'm sure we'll see you in the "big scene" of youtube very soon.
this is one of the best video ive ever seen
The production quality on this series has been excellent! Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these. Can't wait to see more!
As a digital product designer myself, I absolutely adored this coverage on Apple’s design history and nuances. Keep them coming! And maybe even post a tutorial on how you edit your videos 😁
Again, I cannot stress this enough; the immense effort you put into these videos shows, and is incredibly refreshing to see. Please continue what you are doing!
Your video essays are absolutely incredible. I keep sharing them with my friends. I can't wait for your videos to blow up!
This video is so good! I've never Watched a video like it. Everything that you do keeps me hooked, the narration, the storyline, and the music are so well done! I've watched plenty of videos involving apple and software, but non have explained it and made it as well as you have. I hope to see this video and your channel continue to grow!
Excellent work, I thoroughly enjoyed both parts. Your tone, cadence and writing are honestly 80% of what makes the video great.
This was highly entertaining yet instructive! Can't wait to see more of your work and I hope your channel grows!
The well-considered scripting, tasteful editing, and deliberate, soft-spoken delivery of this video series reflect the elegantly simple designs discussed therein. Very nice work.
What an incredible POV for a duet of video essays. I love the insights you brought to the topic and truly cannot wait to see what you've got in store. Thanks for the videos, Jerry!
Thank you for putting the music list in the description!
I really liked what was playing at 6:30 and found it immediately, thanks
Man, this is so insanely good. Incredible pacing, very informative and highly entertaining. Keep up the stellar work!
super inspiring and an awesome video about Apple's design! i like how you injected a few things to explain and clarify stuff here and there and weren't just reading off the history of Apple for 15 minutes. thank you for making these video essays
the selection of music in your videos is just great! added a few tracks to my favorites, especially songs from the outro
You popped up in my recommendations, Would absolutely love to see more content! Best of luck dude!
Great video! What a lesson, very well edited and written. Loved the way you put all of this information in such an entertaining manner. Thank you.
I am so happy that RUclips brought your channel to me. I love your content! Please keep going
This mini series is amazingly well made! I'm very happy this was pushed to me by the algorithm. Keep making more like this and I'm sure you will gain a much bigger following.
Also, even though Apple has been the trend setter it would be really interesting if you would expand the view and explain more broad global visual design trends. The ending with shaded icons and AR feels like such a tease for Part 3: Looking into the crystal ball.
Thank you very much for the work you put in both for storytelling and the ASMRness of the video. I really enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this 2 part series! Apple design history is something I’ve always been interested in. I used to spend hours drawing icons for fun in Mac OS7. The canvas was 32 pixels square and your colors were limited to 256. It teaches one a lot about doing more with less. It’s hard to explain the excitement of Mac OS X arriving with drop shadows and eye candy. We were drunk on skeuomorphism for a while. I feel that the best place is somewhere in between. Thanks again.
I love how carefully you implemented your graphics and amplified them with subtle sound design!
This man deserves more then 13K, this is just a good video.
Dude how do you only have 7k subs, you videos are wonderful, great editing and pacing, the delivery of the information is great! keep going man. great videos on youtube are a bliss.
What a beautiful video. Informative, interesting, and aesthetically pleasing. Everything from script to execution to editing is a jewel.
The series was enjoyable to watch, and I was incredibly amazed by how beautifully the sound was constructed and how fantastic the content was! continue, brother.
Beautiful series! Amazingly written, edited, shot, narrated, researched!
Thank you so much for this documentary! I absolutely loved the editing and presentation.
Stay safe!
wow. just wow. your audio selection, background placements, everything is just wow.
Thanks Jerry, hope you will make more video like this, Im really amazed at how hard you researching for one episode, so many valuable infomation. keep thats good vibe
This video essay series has been insightful and neat
Really looking forward for the next video, great job!
Man, you are **good** Excellent topics, research, presentation, visuals. *Excellent* And you have a terrific and soothing voice that really conveys your points well. Subscribed, and ads turned off for your channel!! Please continue, but keep your pace so that your quality is sustained. Thanks for your efforts!!
Your video has answered my questions. Thank you very much for sharing this method that works for all platforms.
This series is fantastic! Great insight and very well presented! Thank you very much!
I wish icons would interact with the real world, casting shadows from where irl lights come from as well as chrome effects reflecting you
The chrome effect could probably be done using the front facing camera. Not sure about the lighting though.
This was incredibly well done, thank you for your time in putting this thoughtful commentary together.
this is amazing, didn't think I'd watch part 1 in full yet here I am for part 2!
Learned a lot in this video. Your scriptwriting is awesome.
i really hope you keep uploading content - just stumbled upon the channel and the quality is amazing!
Your videos might be the most well produced content I ever saw on RUclips
Man, this has been really high quality! Really engaging. I watched both parts!
This was awesome dude.
I love hearing about the finer points of of how a company works and their products

Absolutely beautiful video! I loved the pace, the commentary, the quality, everything!!! Keep it up :d
Just stumbled on this these two videos. Great stuff. Thanks for taking the time to make them.
These are two extra ordinarily good videos. Thanks for that.
I usually don't comment a lot but this video is honestly so well-made and gives a perfect overview of what Apple's design division might be aiming for. Thank you! (Sorry for being that late)
Awesome video. Really loved watching this series!
10/10 video, this is why I pay for internet, extremely well directed, edited and delivered interesting videos, this tops many 1mil + channels videos, please continue, I wanna pay internet for more of this.
This essay is truly exquisite, looking forward to future videos!
I m so happy to find this tutorial. It's working for me. Thank you for sharing
Happy new Year Jerry. Amazing video! :D
I was blown away by the fact that you don't have millions of subscribers. Keep it up.
wow the production and care taken for this video is that of someone with 500k subs or more. surprised to see just 6k. count me in. i think this channels gonna grow big
This vid hit my algorithm and I’m here to say I’m waiting for another vid from you!!!
top notch video! Felt like I was watching a lot bigger channel. Keep going my guy!
Oooooh that point about neumorphism and AR possibilities... subscribed! Great narration, editing, and music selection as well
Just found you with this video, thank you RUclips.
Your videos are insane. 👏
When I watched this 3 years ago, I was super excited to see where their AR interface would go. 3 years later, we have the Vision Pro. You were spot on.
My guy!! Wonderful, thorough, and professionally delivered content!
Such a nicely made video. Wishing you all the success
Very good series. Part 1 and 2. Thanks for making this!
the quality of these videos is impressive, please come back!
this video was so professionally made. Huge props!
My first viewing of your channel. Instant subscriber and can't wait to dive into more of your content. Fabulous work.
Wow this is one of the most interesting videos I have seen in years!!! Thanks for your great work
Wow. Never thought I would be so fascinated by design. It kind of mimics life and history honestly. When life gets too complicated and overwhelming simplicity, honesty, and order is preferred and then when life gets too boring or soulless ornamentation and extravagance is preferred. It's like a pendulum
Amazing Content, I was in search of this Knowledge for days about Skeuomorphism, but today I got a true understanding about Apple Software, UI and Icon designs.
Great series! Loved it, very inspirational!
Wow! Really insightful. I love the perspective in your summary. Great job 👍🙏
Dude I loved this series! You deserve more subs!
Saw both parts!!! Awesome presentation, kept me intrigued
dude awesome 2part series! great videos filled with info
A beautifully explained look into design at Apple and in general. Your content is stellar!
Great analysis of Apple's design philosophy. Especially the honest design part. A well crafted video. Thank you.
Very well made video! Perfect editing, researching and quality. I thought you already had millions of subs and then I realised you didn't. Keep up the good work boy and you'll get them soon! :)
Dude this video is amazing (both videos in the series are).
Just watched this for the first time. Really great video and hope you do more soon!
This video was really beatyful, waiting for the next.
I really enjoyed your two videos.
Spectacular video. I got chills at the end with the music.
Nice intro, animations, narration, and especially, music. Good job!
This is real content. An actual content creator. I appreciate your work and Im eager for more. Super subscribe 👏
Thank you. Such a informative series. Please keep pushing out more videos!!
Smart move to make me subscribe because you have such wonderful music during the credits and I want to shazam it at some later point
Catching some deep feelings on this video... dude. I watch Objectified multiple times per year. It's my absolute favourite documentary. Ives at is peak definitely warranted reverence from Dieter Rams... But he DESTROYED the usability of iOS for me... stripping it of rich affordance and meaning. Before iOS 7, you could hand an iPad to anyone, of almost any age, and they could intuit how to use it. Now, 6+ years after iOS7, I'm still baffled by the abject lack of clarity and obfuscation of the UI in iOS. Great video!
