    THANK YOU!!!! Just had the L2 error message in this awful weather and pouring kettle after kettle of boiling water over the external condensation/waste pipe resulted in an eventual glugging noise been heard after continuous resets and voila she springs back into life. Thank you again for this video, would never have known otherwise.

    hi everyone.. had same issue with my logic combi 30.. our condensate pipe didn't really seem likely to have frozen due to it's route and it not being super cold at the moment.. I removed the front cover of my boiler. removed the internal cover, and I actually removed something called a condensate trap/syphon (which was totally blocked up with coarse dark grey deposits with a sandlike texture), cleaned and refitted it and problem sorted after restart and reset.. Also I found out whilst removing the trap that you can do a semi-temporary fix by just undoing the plug on the bottom of the boiler with just your hand! This empties half of the trap (like oil empties out of the sump in a car). I say it's not quite permanent because half of the trap could still be blocked so the condensate fluid will build up again.. wasn't too hard removing the trap (about 15 mins reading and 45 mins to do as my first time)... need a bit of common (engineering-type) sense to fill in the blanks in the manual you can find online (note that the logic combi ESPI model user guide that comes up first on Google is a different model).. will maybe post a video myself.. will definitely answer any questions fielded here.. thanks for this video.. Genuine person trying to help others (I'll get you a drink if you're ever in the neighbourhood), but that engineer.. ooohhhh.. I think he could have told you more but chose not to ;-)

    • @marsenark
      @marsenark 6 лет назад +1

      also, the temporary fix should work with a blocked condensate pipe, just remember to have a breakfast size bowl ready :-) and if it is blocked with deposits like mine then you won't do any damage by poking something around in it to help unclog it.. Oh yeah and I reckon the grey deposits building up is more likely to be a cause if you haven't had your boiler serviced in the last few years as I assume the trap would be cleaned out as part of the service..

      @NagaYanamandala  6 лет назад

      Thanks for sharing your experience in detail! I hope you have a very good knowledge of boilers and gas systems if not, please call out a Gas engineer. Your boiler's warranty may be void depending what you do to it.

    • @marsenark
      @marsenark 6 лет назад

      0:45 in the video.. the condensate trap/syphon is the beige coloured container type thing you can see towards the bottom, in the centre.. it has fluid enter it through a black pipe at the top, and enters the first chamber in the trap (which can be emptied with plug on bottom of boiler) amd then enters the second chamber which is connected to the outward condensate pipe that comes out of the centre bottom of the boiler..

    • @marsenark

      no warranty to worry about but you make an important point:

    Hi, woke up to a freezing house and the dreaded F2 error. The boiler in the house is housed above the washing machine and the boilers condensate pipe t-sections in to the washing machine effluent pipe. Occurred that effluent from the washing machine may be blocking the condensate pipe so ran a few kettles of hot water down the effluent pipe and a few minutes later we have heating again. Similar I guess to thawing out a condensate pipe but hope this helps....

    • @NagaYanamandala
      @NagaYanamandala  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience and debugging skills and glad it worked in the end. It could have also been water frozen from last night's laundry. As we all know the pipes behind the white goods are close to the exterior walls are prone to get cold far more easier than most parts of the house.
      So, during severe cold days like these, it is advised to maintain the house temperature at least at 20 C. Assuming you have thermostat it will trip off when it reaches 20 C and save energy anyway.

    If a boiler has a
    flame loss message
    then you reset it then it makes a
    kettling and banging noise
    and seems to work ok when the noise goes away
    But then it eventually goes to
    A lockout message
    is it safe to keep resetting it?
    It will come on but then go back out later on is it safe to keep resetting or no?
    Please help currently sitting in freezing cold!!????

    • @NagaYanamandala
      @NagaYanamandala  3 года назад

      Make sure the flue pipe is not frozen. It's extremely cold today. So if you have an external flue pipe it's likely that it's frozen.
      If this keeps repeating, please call your insurance company (if you have a boiler cover) or your letting agent (if you are renting) or directly a reputed local plumber who can help.
      Hope things get better at your end.

    Ok so, in my area we are suffering huge snow storms, and my boiler violently vibrated and the heating shut off (was on at the time) it keeps saying L2 and F2, problem is, my boiler is on second floor and the pipe is hard to reach, I have no doubt thats why

    • @NagaYanamandala
      @NagaYanamandala  6 лет назад

      Sorry to hear that Keiran. But from what it sounds like the pipe that let's out excess water is frozen. Isn't this connected to your sink? If you are unable to get it to it, don't bother doing a diy in this sort of weather and CA a gas engineer in your area or call your insurance company of your home is insured. Or simply your landlord / estate agent if you are renting the house.

    Many boilers with the condesate connected like the one in the video is wrong, you should have an air gap, negative pressure causes the water not to flow and backs up in the sump

    Hi.
    Thanks for this.
    I tried it & in part it worked but I've got a new message....'0' now after doing this & now my hot water is running very slow & not heating. I do have a Magnetic cleaner (which I haven't cleaned in ages as forgot all about it -just about to do it now) if that helps with any advice you may give.
    Thanks

    • @NagaYanamandala
      @NagaYanamandala  6 лет назад

      Hi David, glad you found this video helpful. Is the "0" accompanied by an alphabet or is it just "0" - from the manual specified in the description, just "0" indicates that "The boiler is in standby mode awaiting either a central heating call or hot water demand." However if it is a "C 0" it indicates "BCC Activation Fault" and you should try and reset the boiler as I have shown in the video. If the issue persists, you should have a word with your Gas Engineer.
      On a similar note, how old is your boiler and when was the last time you got it serviced?

    • @NagaYanamandala
      @NagaYanamandala  6 лет назад +2

      Just so that you know, you can reset it by fully turning the "Mode" dial which is on the right clockwise and hold for a couple of seconds before you leave it. This should reset the boiler and should get rid of any random errors.

    First of all ... You are encouraging people to meddle with an appliance which they are not qualified to do so. As soon as you take the cover of this boiler you are committing a crime.
    The second part any decent tradesman will tell you it is really really annoying for a customer like you standing to be over there shoulder while doing a job.

    • @NagaYanamandala
      @NagaYanamandala  3 года назад +3

      Thanks for your valuable feedback but, honestly, you sound like a disgruntled tradesman who feels threatened by customers doing DIY fixes.
      Secondly, no where in the video did I ask viewers to remove the boiler hood - I have only shown it to prove that my plumber friend removed it to examine the internals only to realise that fixing this issue doesn't need opening up the boiler, as the main issue with blockage of condensate pipe. And then taking the video - as mentioned above, he is a friend of mine and I took his consent before taking the video and I have given him the credit in the video too.
      I did this 5 years ago when Ideal hardly offered any customer support, they wouldn't even take calls to their customer help line, leaving the customers in the hands of so called Gas/Boiler engineers who often rip off (not all, but some) the customers off for basic fixes like thawing a condensate pipe.
      All that matters in the end is that this video has had almost 250K views and a ton of happy home owners and renters who either saved money or saved themselves from a cold night.

      @@NagaYanamandala this guy is wrong, it is NOT a crime to remove the cover from your own boiler. you can work on your own, or anyone else's, boiler without being qualified. it only becomes illegal if you charge them money for it.
